While searching for a spot for a pre concert at MSG dinner I came across this gem. Everything about Juniper was great. The hostess let us sit in a reserved spot prior to the reservation of 6pm and I thanked her for doing so. We started out with the Ivy Martini which was recommended by our waiter, then we ordered the steak and cheese egg rolls with sweet chili sauce and heat from the sauce waa perfect for the steak in the spring rolls. The shirt rib grilled cheese sounded so appealing and it definitely did not disappoint. It was fantastic the shirt rib was hearty and the combination of the brie which is a cheese I wouldn't think of for a grilled cheese paired perfectly. Honestly a perfect meal everything about what we ate was great. I promise to return and try something else on the menu. Nice sports bar located right down the road from Madison Square garden. We met a family member here for a late dinner. Atmosphere was very energetic and fun. Nice dimly lit space with plenty of seating and room. Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was also very good. I went with the lobster club sandwich with French fries and my wife had the salmon. Both were super flavorful and tender. The aioli that came with my sandwich was a delight. The spicy margarita had quite the kick and was refreshing. Price point is about what you would expect in downtown New York in a kind of tourist bubble so to speak, but all in all a great dining experience and would definitely recommend trying. read more

Came here for dinner during their happy hour deal. It was empty around 4pm when we got there but by the time we left around 6, this place was packed. Unfortunately nothing blew me away here. Yes they had good deals on the drinks but the prices were pretty standard for city happy hour price, and the food was average. I had a few of the gin cocktail and that was pretty good. For dinner, we had the fried calamari and that was a soggy without any crisp and not good. For entree, I had the salmon. Portion was generous but the flavor was lacking. Happy Hour is from 4-7. My Boyfriend and I got there at around 2:30 so it wasn't quite happy hour yet. Don't they know that some people have summer Fridays and need some drink specials?! Anyway, Juniper wasn't a bad experience. We wanted a small bite to eat before an early dinner, so we opted for the sliders and the Vietnamese-style wings to share. For the sliders, you can do can do any combination of three of the following: Mini Burgers (with american cheese & sauteed onions), Crispy BLT Chicken Sliders (pepper jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon, boston lettuce, tomato, chipotle aioli), or Crab Cake (fresh crab meat, bibb lettuce, plum tomato, spicy remoulade sauce). We went with two chicken and one crab. They were okay - tasted like something you could get from Costco, so I don't think it was really worth the $15. The wings were not bad. They were made with hoisin sauce, but had a little too much sauce so it was pretty salty. If I come back, it would only be for drinks during happy hour. read more

Two ppl had blueberry pancakes (good), and son was the kingpin who ordered lobster Benny - which was overpriced at $24. Good, he said, but there was chaos and ingredient imbalance on the plate. Brunch for 3, with a glass of wine: $73 Luncheon: Reservation was placed same day for 12:30. Our party of 4 were seated right away - accommodated at a regular table (not hightop). Fairly extensive menu. Seems like the sliders are quite popular - two at the table ordered those. Server was courteous and accommodating to food allergies, food was served promptly, everything was hot, good portions, and very tasty - overall, great. It's a nice place with a very long bar and lots of room at the bar. There's less room for dining - so make reservations or call ahead to check availability. I don't know how the place gets after work, but lunch time was good, and it's a perfect spot to bring a client. It's expensive, but it's midtown expensive - it's just expected. read more

I came across this place by searching for HH bar in the area. It's close to the Wyndham New Yorker where I am staying, within walking distance. Great HH til 7:00 pm with selected drink items for $6.00. There's music playing in the background, which isn't too loud. As far as their food menu it's a bit pricey, however great selections of items to select from prices ranging from $12 and up depending on your food choices. I recommend the Vietnamese wings; very tasty. I rate 4 stars and recommend this location if you're in NY and is staying in this area. read more

The drinks, food, atmosphere, staff, and music are all on point! I got here after a 15 hour travel day and the Spicy Basil Margarita brought me back to life. I also had the Mezcal Ancho Paloma, hiiiighly recommend. The Mahi sliders were great but the shisito peppers with rosemary aioli (what a combo!) was a showstopper. Looking for a central spot to meet up with some work friends and this place fit the bill. The location is perfect. For me driving into the city the Lincoln Tunnel was only a few blocks away. For my friends, Penn Station was right around the corner. Happy Hour specials run until 7pm during the week. The specials are limited to the bar area seating only and include wines and Sam Adams, no food. We decided to sit in the bar area to take advantage of the happy hour specials. There was a good size crowd on a Thursday night but service was on point. The menu was creative and everything we ordered was really good. Dishes hovered around the $15 price range. Some slightly more and some slightly less. I liked that they had the front window completely open taking advantage of the nice weather. The one thing I didn't love was the super loud music. In search of a restaurant near Penn Station, my friends and I made a reservation for 9 at Juniper Bar on a Friday evening. Upon entry, they checked our vaccination cards and photo ID and led us to a nice table near the back away from the bar. Our waiter was quite pushy in trying to get us to order drinks to the point where we were getting annoyed. The food took 30 minutes to come out which is slightly understandable due to our large group. I ordered the $27 lobster ravioli and was very dismayed to discover a total of 5 pieces of ravioli in the dish. Lobster is expensive, but $5+ per average-sized ravioli was very disappointing and I had to eat one of my friend's sliders to be full. The ravioli itself was pretty good and there were lobster chunks inside, but it was most definitely not worth the price and as one of my friends wisely said, I could probably find this at Trader Joe's. However, the rest of my friends seemed to really enjoy their meals, especially the truffle fries, and the salmon slider that I had was delicious. Overall, I would come again, but I would avoid the overpriced ravioli. read more

I was looking for a nicer spot to relax and wait for the NJT Train rather than wait in one of those overpriced bars inside Penn Station. Juniper was a true YELP find, I located it doing a YELP map search and was so happy I did. Juniper is only 2 short blocks from Penn Station. Inside we found that it's a huge, long bar with lots of seating. All day happy hour on Sunday! We sat at the bar and the bartender came right over and pointed out the Sunday all day happy hour specials, I ordered us both a $6 gin and tonic. They were a bit strong but that didn't stop a second round. We were a little hungry and split the veggie burger $14. The veggie burger was really good and came with a healthy portion of fries. We were told the front end tables were reserved (but as we left didn't see more than three people sitting there) and then we were treated to rolling eyes by one of the hostesses and rebuked for sitting at table...that had no "reserved" sign...but was apparently reserved. We politicking explained our confusion and we were relocated. Prosecco for $6 was fine but partner had Old Fashioned (which isn't on the happy hour discount menu) that was sized as a smaller drink. I went here for a work lunch. We were going to go to Asura, which has a vegan menu, but Asura had a Closed sign on their window for some reason (this was on January 3rd). I was worried because I googled Juniper and didn't see any reviews mentioning vegan options. I agreed to go, however, because I didn't want to be an inconvenience to my coworkers. They have a veggie burger that mentions feta cheese. I asked if the cheese could be kept off and was told yes, then we sat down. The waitress came by and said that, actually, the cheese is baked into the patty and so it can't be removed. I appreciate that my waitress checked and then let me know the dish could not be modified. In the end, I was able to make things work. I ordered a hummus appetizer that I shared with my colleagues. Then, for my meal, I ate the Baby Kale Salad without the yogurt. If you are vegan, you won't have the best selection, but there are a couple of options. It's a bit pricey for what you get IMO. The salad was $14 and didn't even come with bread. The hummus appetizer was $13. All in all, I'm giving 4 stars because it was a decent experience. Not somewhere I'd choose to go on a regular basis, but it worked for the occasion. read more
