My homemade seafood noodle soup using the leftover sauce
    Heidi M.

My boyfriend and I ordered a seafood boil through UberEats Saturday night and it was deeeelicious! We got the Juicy King Crab Specialty, where we chose to get 2 pieces of lobster tail, 1lb of shrimp (head on), and 1lb black mussels. It also came with 3 corn + 3 potatoes. We didn't get an option to choose spice level or anything so it was just mild which was fine. Dipping the shrimp (after de-shelling it) into that garlicy sauce was *chef's kiss* ... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The sauce on its own is a bit on the salty side, but makes for a GREAT soup base for the next day - make sure to save it! Just added some water and noodles, with some leftover mussels and shrimp and it was so homey and tasty. Solid spot for seafood boil.

I believe this place opened up today so I'm cutting some slack lol. I'm from Atlanta where the crab boil spots are abundant and delicious. I passed this spot on my way home and they were handing out menus and offering 20% off so seemed like a great idea for dinner. Their prices are cheap so I was even more excited. I went with the Cajun Boil ($20 - 1/2 lb shrimp no head, crawfish, black mussels) Juicy special, medium. I usually like things very spicy but the last crab boil I got (different place) took hot to a whole mother level and I legitimately couldn't taste anything so I went medium here. I called in for pickup and was given a 10 minute ready time. When I opened the book I could already tell the sauce wasn't what I was used to. It was very thin and not red but there was a lot of food. The sauce was not what I was expecting it was pretty much just garlic butter and not the tangy, sweet, spicy mixture I'm used to when I order crab boil "special sauce". BUT the shrimp was soooo good and a lot. The mussels were good as well but the crawfish tasted like it was boiled in plain water and just added to the bag. I added cayenne (my own fault) and lemon juice at home. Overall it was just ok. A good price for sure so if they work on their sauce I'd come back.

The food was amazing , it tasted like everything it needed to! I got Cajun flavored, which is my favorite. I absolutely would eat here again and reorder my food the same exact way!

Original Hurricane was perfection, had to have another. Not a boozy taste but it does catch up with you. I was a little disappointed with the catfish because I was expecting that Nawlins flavor and it was just fried catfish, meh. The cup of gumbo and the spoonful of rice (not complaining about that, it was enough) is where all of the flavor is! The chicken, the andouille and the roux, brought back so many good memories of good food while in the French Quarter. They did that, I should have gotten a larger portion! Our waiter John was very nice and checked in on us regularly, didn't have to lock for him or try to get his attention. Again the place is small but he was very attentive. I would go back just to try other things and hopefully I will get more of that flavor.

At least at the bar. Didn't realize Lowerline was moonlighting as a dive bar. Third, the food & drinks were mid at best. I had the crawfish etouffee & it lacked flavor & was just...not good at all. I had to coat it in hot sauce but it still was mediocre. As for drinks I had the original hurricane which was good but I've had better. The only reason I'm giving two stars versus one is that the bartender was really nice but I wouldn't return back & again, genuinely don't know what the hype is about.

They were taking some walk ins as well. I shared the japchae boudin balls which were decent but the real star was the roe sauce it came up. I got the brisket and grits which is apparently their signature dish. This was delicious. It wasn't too heavy, and there was plentiful brisket to pair with the grits. The cherry tomatoes seemed raw, I thought it was going to be pickled somehow. They ended our meal with yakult. I'd come back here to try other things. I did try a bite of the blue crab curry and it wasn't my preference, and the portion was also smaller.

Reply to Business Owner:…read more Hello Jaffa, Thank you for the response. I understand seasoning and heat can affect appearance; however, my concern was not solely discoloration, but the overall quality and texture of the food upon arrival. The crab meat was stuck to the shell (rubbery), the mussels lacked freshness and texture, and the sausage was unusually rubbery--issues that go beyond presentation or residual heat. I shared my experience honestly based on the meal I received. While I appreciate the offer to resolve it had I called, posting a review reflects my experience as a customer ordering delivery, which is a service you offer. Unfortunately, this order did not meet the standard I expected based on my experience. I'm glad to hear you're open to addressing concerns directly, and I hope future delivery orders are more consistent. -------------------- My Initial Review: I "really" wanted to enjoy this meal, especially since I've ordered from here before via Uber Eats and decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing. The snow crab legs had gray shells, and the meat was stuck to the shell, rubbery, and lacked freshness. The mussels were deep orange in color, had no real texture, and some were actually dry, which made them unpleasant to eat. The sausage was also very rubbery--I had to bite hard just to get through it. Flavor alone couldn't make up for the overall texture and freshness issues. This may be a place that's better enjoyed in person, but based on my experiences, the seafood does not seem to travel well for delivery. I truly wanted this to be a satisfying meal, but unfortunately it missed the mark.

There was only one table so not sure why the wait was so long. It seemed like they didn't even start the order till we got there. We waited another 15 minutes more and it was definitely not worth it. The lobster roll was overcooked and SUPER dry covered in heavy seasoning. The bread was drenched in oil and so greasy. The only highlight was the fries which is kinda sad if you pay $34 and the highlight is the fries with a one hour wait time. Won't be coming back again.

The AYCE menu includes a variety of items including appetizers (broccoli, calamari, corn, iron steak, crab rangoon, clam chowder, fried rice, garlic noodles, chicken wings, spareribs, general Tso's chicken, spring rolls, edamame, french fries, and more) and main seafood entrees (steamed or hand breaded shrimp, blue crab, dungeness crab, snow crab legs, crawfish, salmon, seabass, mussels, steamed clams, raw oysters and clams, and more). The items I would recommend the most are iron steak, crab rangoon, blue crab, snow crab legs, and crawfish. The seafood is fresh, and if you love seafood, this AYCE meal is a good value for the variety and amount you get. There is no limit to how much you can order at a time; you can order as many rounds as you'd like. Service: Service is excellent here; staff are friendly and very attentive. They come to check on you throughout the meal and clear empty dishes. Food comes out very quickly after you place an order. The staff are also nice about giving you another menu to place another order. They are generous with their portions and food unlike other AYCE places that seem to not want you to order as much. Ambiance: The restaurant is big and spacious; seating is comfortable. There are tables and booths that can accommodate both small and large groups. The restaurant is kept clean, and the decor is very nice. During the warmer months, there's outdoor seating in Mongolian-style tents on the patio that overlooks Surf Avenue and Luna Park. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you like seafood!
