Grilled whole fish (red snapper)
Lilian L.

I came here with a group of coworkers on a Friday night at around 8 pm. The place was relatively empty and we got seated immediately. The servers were friendly and the food was very good. I ordered the red snapper grilled whole fish that came with chermoula, falafel, labneh, and turnip. I found the falafel a little too hard but the fish was very fresh and was grilled to perfection. Overall, I find this place a little expensive but the ambiance, service, and quality of ingredients used was very good.

Josephine is a nice, trendy restaurant in the Plateau and they serve great seafood. We tried a variety of different dishes which were all high quality and tasty: -Seafood Platter: lots of different things to munch on here, including shrimps, clams, mussels, and oysters - refreshing taste and good quality -Crudo of the Day and Fish of the Day: also fresh and tasty - nice and light, doesn't make you feel too full -Scallops: This one was only OK. I did not love the accompaniment it came with, and it felt like the serving size was a little small comparatively speaking. That said, quality of the scallops themselves was good and it looked like the chef(s) put a lot of care into the preparation of the dish. If you are ever in the plateau or want some nice seafood, I would recommend stopping by here. It didn't totally blow me away but it's a nice restaurant with lots of cool dishes to satisfy a seafood lover.

I would like to thank Josephine and the staff for the excellent service we had tonight. Their special offer on Wednesdays is 1$ oysters and 5$ Aperol Spritz. They have a beautiful orange terrasse and the indoor seating is cozy as well with plants hanging from the ceiling and white tiles everywhere. The Aperols were very good, the oysters were to die for, as well as the vinegar sauce to accompany them. The scallop entry was good, they were grilled to perfection and tasted great, although the plate was slightly expensive (15$). We also had a grilled octopus salad that apparently was a newer addition to their menu. We told them that the vinaigrette needed something extra, as the salad was a little bland. They were comprehensive and welcomed our criticism very well. Overall, the experience was good! We ordered the oysters after the entrées and they took a fairly long time to arrive. We in fact got a little bit impatient because of that. However, our waitress and the chef were generous enough to offer them for free because of the wait! We also got free shots, which was very appreciated. The service was definitely exemplary. I would definitely recommend this place on Wednesdays and for the oysters! The seafood is very good and they have a lovely staff. It would be the perfect restaurant for a date as well!

Come during mtl à table!! The first service is a little salty but overall very good, my fav is the main course - it's really delicious and the seafoods are fresh!! For the dessert I ordered the chocolate tart, it combines coffee with chocolate, so if you don't want something too sweet you will no doubt enjoy it!! And don't forget to add one cup of latte later :) Atmosphere is quiet and staffs are helpful and patient, location is near the bus stop/metro so transportation is also convenient. If you are a seafood lover plz come!

We're a little bit biased, with our daughter's name a variation on this but I also searched for a stellar seafood restaurant in Montreal and this was it. We loved the laid back neighborhood vibe with sophisticated drinks and delicious food. Calamari, oysters, shrimp all were fantastic!

Seafood platter for 2 + gnocchi and fries
Katerina B.

I wanted to try this place for a while and Mother's day was a perfect occasion to order their seafood platter for 2 and some squid gnocchi. The process was simple and fast, we placed the order and came to pick it up when it was ready. I must say that despite the fact that everything now comes in plastic containers since it's a Covid take out period, their presentation of the seafood was on point. The sauce on the gnocchi was simple delicious. I completely understand why this place has high reviews. And guess what? I'll be ordering from them again soon!

Shellfish with pork belly

Really great all-around experience on a chilly Saturday night. It was a beef heavy week in Montreal, so we searched for seafood and this place lived up to its photos and reviews. The space itself is beautiful, white and fresh. A small cocktail menu had a few choices and it's wine list is extensive with some interesting selections. Our appetizers included a mushroom mezze luna pasta and shellfish with pork belly. Both were excellent. The waitress did a great job describing the Mediterranean Sea bass for two, served Lebanese style, so we went that route. It's was really superb, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. A small and unique ginger pot de creme was a great was to end the meal. Service was friendly and efficient.

Her pasta was crunchy (sorry but that means RAW) and my burger tasted like it came from a packet. Not what you expect when you're paying these prices. They didn't have oat milk so Courtney couldn't have her iced latte and that basically ruined the whole evening. She sat there saying the "vibes were off" which as her mother I could immediately tell was TRUE. Staff were friendly but a bit too laid back if you ask me. This isn't a festival, it's a RESTAURANT. We didn't have a reservation but the sweet man who greeted us found us a table very fast. This is a family owned business and you can tell how much pride and love they put into it. Both of the owners explained all the dishes to us and were so helpful in making our decisions. We started with the lemonade which is house made by their own mother every day. It had a different type of sweetness to it, almost like it was made with honey instead of sugar but I really enjoyed it. We also got the Trio of Salads which were so good! A few of them were a bit spicy but nothing we couldn't handle. They also kept the bread coming which I never hate! We also split the Tuna Brik and it was amazing! For our mains we had the Honey Lamb which was covered in pistachios. The lamb fell right of the bone and was so tender. We also tried the Ojja which is more of an elevated Shakshuka - dipping the bread in the sauce was a highlight at the end. Overall, this was such a unique meal with wonderful flavors. The owners service was the true stand out of this meal. They really do provide a wonderful experience for all of their guests.

The part that really sucked they didn't have any corn ! Which is terrible. I had to get rice which I didn't end up eating. The lady at the counter was ignoring clients and the old people in front of us through their hands in the air when she decided to take a phone call while looking at them walking to the cash. She was just not happy to be there and very slow. Our food sat there for a little bit we kept making eye contact with her so she would know but just would look back at the food and then leave it. Someone came to take over for her as maybe they noticed that she wasn't happy. I won't lie tho the food was great the sauce the crab one with butter and lemon pepper was amazing! Went there with my brother and sat at the bar. Bartender/server whose name escapes me (Eric? Tall dude with curly hair and a stache) poured excellent cocktails, was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and food and kept our glasses full. We ordered the seafood tower, the Crab toast, and the octopus. They were all obscenely good. Good bottle of wine and too much amaro at the end. Got to meet Chuck Hughes. He was super nice and fun to chat with. The rest of the staff, although not directly "responsible" for us, were taking care of business. Helping each other, making others aware of what is needed at other tables, and all trying their very best to make everyone's night as wonderful as possible. We were shown to our table, which was near the entrance in the perfect spot. I loved how they have a curtain at the entrance, so that although it felt like -20 with the windchill, we didn't notice once when people entered or exited. Our waitress introduced herself right away and took our cocktail orders. When she delivered our drinks, she explained how the chef's tasting menu worked and left us for a few minutes to decide which option we would like. We chose 'tier 3' which included a pasta course and extra caviar. Everything we had was amazing, from the seafood tower, to the beef carpaccio, to the hanger steak. It was so much food, we thought we would all burst by the end. The waitress was outstanding and was completely engaged with us throughout the evening. She added so much to our experience. We opted for the wine pairings and she gave us 3 wines as well as an amaro at the end. All in all, it was a meal to remember with a price tag of just under $2,000. Well worth it. We highly recommend this for a special occasion dinner.

My new favorite seafood restaurant in Montreal…read more.. we met up at 6pm on friday night, during happy hour. The happy hour specials are one dollar oysters and ten dollars for cocktails. It is very satisfying. One caveat though, the oysters tend to have shell bits in them so be careful. I ordered the risotto as my appetizer even though it was listed as a main. My main dish was octopus. The risotto was perfect, the rice was just right, mussels, tiger shrimps, calamari and lobster tail. it was well proportioned, you could have seafood in every bite until the last bit of rice, just perfect. The octopus, came with onions, capers and olives, not my favorite combo but I did enjoy the tanginess at the end, it did grow on me. Dessert was lava cake with ice cream. We asked to have it with ice cream and it was amazing. Already planning my return...

Always get excited when a new restaurant opens its doors but was very disappointed by this place…read more There's was nothing exciting about this place decor wise or even food wise. First when I had to reserve at this place they wanted credit card information which is fine because some restaurants do that nowadays but what I didn't like was that the cancelation should be done minimum 2 days in advance if not they charge you 25$ for each person, I find that ridiculous because last minute emergency do tend to happen sometimes. Second when we got there the hostess asked us if she could seat us at the bar saying that the bar is beautiful and all. The brings us to the bar section upstairs and seats us at a tiny little bar which seats 4 ppl(nothing amazing)... The 2 other ppl that were already seated at the bar had taken 1/3 of the space leaving us a very tight area to sit and we were not comfortable sitting there. We asked to be seated elsewhere, the place looked packed but there was a table available on the floor but they told us that the only other table they had for us was a table downstairs, we agreed because we didn't really mind where to seat as long as we had more space to breath. Also something that we didn't like was that the bartender asked us if we only speak English, so we weren't quite sure why he did that remark because he was able to converse with us. When we went downstairs we realized that our table was next to the open kitchen and also we were the only ppl from the restaurant that were seated there. Which we found really odd and felt like the outcast of the restaurant. We didn't want to complain to much because we always try to give the benefit of a doubt especially when it comes to new restos. I have this place a 3 star because of the drinks, they were very well made. I definitely recommend to get the east and ivy if you like lychee and also the guilt and ginger if you like ginger. For food we got the oysters, these were really good and opened by a girl just next to entrance by order. The oysters were fresh and I love the dill mignonette, which was different then other places. For mains we got the mussel and fries. Which was okay eatable, nothing amazing. We got the new York strip and asked for medium rare but the steak came medium. The pepper sauce was too thick to my liking. We also got a side of onion rings and mushrooms, the mushrooms were good, the batter of the onion rings were have any flavor and it was bland. The waitress was nice but not really attentive, like I said before we got seated alone downstairs and we were isolated from everyone so I'm guessing she wasn't really reminding herself to come check up on us more frequently I guess. The food was average nothing spectacular about the food here. Also we didn't really like the atmosphere. I don't know if we just went on a wrong day or this place is always like this. Overall it seems like this place is good for big groups and I also heard that this place is considered a superclub. The music we were hearing was mostly techno. I give them the benefit of doubt of they moving us to a bigger space and also the men that moved us I think it was the owner checked on us twice to see if we were okay which we appreciated. Personally I would not recommend this place nor I will go back. For the price the food is not worth it.
