I ordered a Mojito with tequila which I do regularly and there was a 2/10. Absolutely awful. When I asked to return it, the waiter gave me a hard time until he finally caved and took it back. Chez Delmo is a family run restaurant in old Montreal just a short walk from the Notre Dame cathedral. The menu offers a selection of fish and meat options. And a whole section on lobster prepared in different ways. There is an extensive wine list and a variety of cocktails and beer to choose from. All three in our party had lobster rolls that came with a side salad and fries. The lobster portions were generous with juicy claw meat, not just the shreds that are often served in other restaurants. We enjoyed them thoroughly. The best part was the service. Mon amie dit que d'habitude, dans les restaurants la cuisine ferme à une heure précise et ensuite on laisse les clients terminer leur assiette ou leur verre. Le gérant ou propriétaire insiste qu'une équipe de tournage doit venir et que ça coûte une fortune. Il est à peine 13h00. INTERVENTION #3 : Pour nous, le cas était clos, mais le serveur ramène le sujet, pourquoi? Il n'est pas encore 14h00. INTERVENTION #4 : le gérant ou propriétaire revient nous voir pour nous dire que les banques ferment à 15h00. Pourquoi, puisque pour nous tout était déjà réglé dès la première mention? Il est 14h00 et ni moi ni mon amie n'avons contesté la fermeture pour 15h00? Au moment de quitter, vers 15h00, après avoir payé une facture de plus de 550$, mon amie veut aller aux toilettes. Le chemin qu'elle prend pour s'y rendre est bloqué Elle revient sur ses pas et passe derrière un employé de l'équipe de tournage ou de photos penché sur une table. L'homme réagit agressivement en disant qu'elle lui a touché une hanche. Mon amie est surprise et réait de vive voix. But I'm not sure why considering The restaurant was probably only a quarter full. it also toa long time for us to get our bread and butter. I would say maybe about 20 mins. And then it took a while for us to get our water and soda refill. Two stars was because the server was very apologetic for it or else it would have been one star. We got the snow crab salad and clam chowder for starters. These are usually items little preparation but it took over 30'min to get: We got the lobster thermidor and it was way too cheesy. At times all you are was just eating big cheese. And I can't say I'm a fan of the sauce it was cooked in. Scallop were still somewhat cold inside. The walleye was surprisingly the best out of the three and had no complaints. But it took us probably over an hour to finally get our food. It ruined the mood. read more

From my phone call letting them know I was going to be a few minutes late for my reservation until the second I left, service was absolutely beyond outstanding and top-notch. I could write about this place for hours. I will try to do it justice. If you are looking to have an incredible 5 star experience, in a classy setting, with excellent food and (dare I mention magnificent service, again?), this is the place. It was the first heavy snow of the season, so they gave us a table by a window and it felt like I was in a movie. Now the food, we had the most delicious lobster bisque I have ever had in my life. We also ordered calamari for appetizer. For our main course, we ordered squid ink fettuccini with scallops and cod. It was terrific. For dessert, I can't remember the name, but it was a pudding/cake with a maple syrup sauce, it was truly divine. Oh my goodness, where do I start?!?! I was dinning by myself, as I often do when traveling for work. This place was referred by my concierge. It was amazing. Service was wonderful. The whole staff was welcoming and friendly. It's a family fun restaurant. I felt so at home. And the food...I will have dreams about it!!! Let me tell you, the family business and staff at Chez Delmo unquestionably have a passion for their work! They gave us complimentary salmon moose toast as an appetizer. The wine and cocktails were top notch. My wife and I had the salmon and the pan seared Walleye. The butter sauce on the walleye made it melt in your mouth. Another group wrapped up and were headed out the door and the owners were helping them get a cab. They gave us recommendations for breakfast/pastry shops tomorrow. Wow, didn't expect to be writing this, as the restaurant has a good reputation. 3 out of 4 of us ended up not eating our meals (when you're paying $72 for a bowl of seafood pasta, you're kind of expecting it to be very good). I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen - maybe the cooks were distracted? Whatever happened, our seafood was so overcooked that it really was like trying to chew rubber and the lobster sauce that was advertised on the pasta was almost non-existent. If you moved the pasta around in the bowl, the bowl was dry. No sauce anywhere. So two of us had the seafood pasta at $72 each, another had the scallops ($48, comes with a smaller portion of veggies and no potatoes or starch of any kind). None of us were able to eat our meals as the seafood was just rubber. We ended up not staying for coffee or dessert. In case you're wondering if we were credited for 3 meals that weren't eaten - nope. Not even the offer of a free dessert. So that's our last visit there. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Delmo after a recommendation by a friend. It is decidedly one of our favorites in Montreal after a week of eating at the best the city offers. The highlight of our experience at Chez Delmo was the exceptional service and engaging conversations with the witty owner, Benoit. We had the opportunity try several items from their lunch menu on our three visits to the restaurant, one our favorites was the Lobster Club. The soups, in particular, were exceptional (Fish Soup - Crab Soup - Oyster Soup). The snow crab soup was a delicate light bisque with a suitable Indian spice that was worked perfectly well and is a specialty of Chez Delmo. We highly recommend Chez Delmo to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience in Montreal. what a complete disaster. My fiance ordered French fries which camemout soggy. we sent them back and the waiter brought BACK the soggy fries and said "thats how the chef prepares them" lucky for us they were now also cold. I ordered caviar which was served with blini and crème Fraiche. the chef added pepper and lemon zest to the crème fraiche which made it Inedible with the caviar. I suggested that if the chef wanted to be creative he should write poetry. next was the froed calamari which although from the same kitchen as the soggy fries somehow managed to be crispy, but so drowned in salt as to be ruined. Was a bit disappointed overall given the rave suggestions from the Westin concierge. First the only one waitress working, she was great with attitude but best attitude can't make up for totally overwhelmed. What was more curious the greeter seemed like the owner having several glasses of wine but not once helping out. The wine we want wasn't available bummer to add to the above slow service. Wife order scallops that were not the best for its reputation I'd give it between three and four stars, had a weird outer coating that really took away from the quality scallop hiding below. I had escargot and foie gras if it wasn't for the fact I had it just two days before and at better place in Quebec City I'd have given it four stars. Spent all afternoon trying to find a nice restaurant for our last dinner in Montreal and finally decided on this place since the reviews were good and it looked nice. Best decision of the trip! We made a reservation and when we arrived we were seated and served quickly. We ordered halibut and walleye and both were incredible! I never used to particularly like seafood so we needed some recommendations from our waiter, and he was spot on! The flavors were amazing and the fish were so soft. This was our favorite meal of the trip for sure. The prices are a little higher ($35-$60) but it's worth it. If you're looking for awesome seafood, this is the place to go. They told us that they specialize in seafood so we had their freshly shucked oysters, seafood pasta and scallop ceviche. Never heard of it and we decided to wing it and swing by. We were happy to have valet service. Started really well. The hostess greeted us with a smile. She took our coats and told us to chose any seat we liked. It was pretty busy but the environment felt so calm and peaceful even though there were a lot of people. It had a romantic and calming atmosphere. The lights were dimmed the lovely candles glowing on every table ahh how beautiful. We ordered our favourites (oysters, oysters and more oysters) yummy they were Deeelicious. We also ordered scampis and my bf ordered the arctic char. Our food was very succulent. Wow that butter tasted like real butter!! everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Service was phenomenal. Waitresses were so quick and friendly. I swear I did not expect much but after leaving this fine resto of over 80 years they really set the bar high for montreal. From the minute I called this restaurant I was treated with nothing but rude and condescending service. We had a larger party which I understand is difficult to accommodate and offered to split into 2 smaller parties to make the reservations easier to fit. The host felt the need to explain that a table of 4 is very different than a table of of 6 which is a very obvious thing to understand. They were very short with us over the phone. I am hostess at a restaurant myself and I am appalled by the way we were spoken to when we were potentially going to give this restaurant business. Started out with the grilled octopus appetizer which was small but grilled to perfection and paired perfectly with the bruschetta. The BF had the Arctic char meunière (flat fish between a salmon and a trout) entree with rice and vegetables and I had the Chilean sea bass (a hearty meaty white fish) which I have had before with rice and mashed potatoes.
