Chez Delmo is a family run restaurant in old Montreal just a short walk from the Notre Dame cathedral. The menu offers a selection of fish and meat options. And a whole section on lobster prepared in different ways. There is an extensive wine list and a variety of cocktails and beer to choose from. All three in our party had lobster rolls that came with a side salad and fries. The lobster portions were generous with juicy claw meat, not just the shreds that are often served in other restaurants. We enjoyed them thoroughly. The best part was the service. Our server, Caroline, was not only completely attentive but good humored and very kind to our elderly family member. She is the best!

The quality of food and level of service is exceptional. My wife and I went here on a Thursday night. This is a family owned restaurant with generational pride in every thing they do. The Dover Sole is the best in the City. Desserts are elegant and devastating. There is intimate celebrity feel to this restaurant. I highly recommend.

Unequivocally the best restaurant for seafood and casual atmosphere in Montreal. Adam & Ben are the consummate hosts and everything is impeccable.

Service was extremely slow. I think the kitchen was backed up. But I'm not sure why considering The restaurant was probably only a quarter full. it also toa long time for us to get our bread and butter. I would say maybe about 20 mins. And then it took a while for us to get our water and soda refill. Two stars was because the server was very apologetic for it or else it would have been one star. We got the snow crab salad and clam chowder for starters. These are usually items little preparation but it took over 30'min to get: We got the lobster thermidor and it was way too cheesy. At times all you are was just eating big cheese. And I can't say I'm a fan of the sauce it was cooked in. Scallop were still somewhat cold inside. The walleye was surprisingly the best out of the three and had no complaints. But it took us probably over an hour to finally get our food. It ruined the mood.

We just had dinner at Chez Delmo and it was fantastic! The wait staff were great, very attentive and did not rush us. The food was fabulous wry favorable and well presented. The atmosphere was cool, from the 30s, it's quaint and well designed. David and Louis did a fab job of going above and beyond. We will definitely make another trip to Montreal to visit Che Delmo

Was absolutely blown away by this fine establishment. The service was good; waiter recommended an amazing white wine and the garlic bread (and the SAUCE) was absolutely delectable. The clam linguini and shrimp cocktail was also excellent. Ambiance was great, and definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to this year. Beyond wonderful.

From my phone call letting them know I was going to be a few minutes late for my reservation until the second I left, service was absolutely beyond outstanding and top-notch. I could write about this place for hours. I will try to do it justice. If you are looking to have an incredible 5 star experience, in a classy setting, with excellent food and (dare I mention magnificent service, again?), this is the place. It was the first heavy snow of the season, so they gave us a table by a window and it felt like I was in a movie. Now the food, we had the most delicious lobster bisque I have ever had in my life. We also ordered calamari for appetizer. For our main course, we ordered squid ink fettuccini with scallops and cod. It was terrific. For dessert, I can't remember the name, but it was a pudding/cake with a maple syrup sauce, it was truly divine. William and his father (the owner) were kind, they took the time to chat with us, to make us feel like they were so happy we were there; we really appreciated their efforts to make us feel so welcome. thank you so much. I reckon I might have just added a new restaurant to my list of top 5 best restaurant experiences of my life.

Tasty, crispy, rich. - Grilled octopus on pepper sauce with potatos $24. Really tender and flavourful. The sauce was bright and acidic - Sorrel soup $13.75. First time having sorrel. Sweet garlic, had nothing I could say I feel the garlic in at all. Flavorless. Five pepercorn with cognac non existent ! The only time i taste the peppercorn was if I BIT the actual peppercorn. The dessert ? I ate 2 bites and left the entire thing. The "crust" was nowhere to be found it was watered down carton... and the lime layer felt like I was biting into fake jelly. The mixed green salad has a finely drisled dressing. We had salmon and lamb breast. I had not heard of a lamb breast...only lamb chops. This lamb was the best I have ever eaten...super moist with light gravy. We ended our meal with shared cheesecake. Our server, George, was so delightful. He was humorous, engaging and so attentive. BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!

Luckily, others in our group arrived earlier since they live closer so we had a table. However, I would definitely recommend making a reservation or arrive MUCH earlier/prepare to wait for a seat. There's a "busy" vibe inside but it's more like a bustling, happy, welcoming, and great overall addition to the environment. With how packed it was, it understandably took a while to be tended to but they did the best they can and were extremely polite. We were seated at a table in the middle area of the restaurant between the booths and surrounded by other tables/next to the bar area. It can feel like a tight squeeze at times but there was adequate space to dine without feeling suffocated or bumping elbows with other diners. I just don't know how the servers do it! I give the entire staff a large kudos for juggling so many plates in such little space. There are 2-3 individual washrooms, so if it's packed there may be a bit of a wait but they're kept clean and are quite nice nonetheless. The portions are quite large and are great for the price considering how delicious everything is. The banana, strawberry and Nutella crepe is so good and their assortment of fruit is quite nice! Dragon fruit, oranges, cantaloupe, melon.... They don't skimp! I got scrambled eggs for my egg side and they were really tasty. Overall, I really enjoyed dining here. I can completely understand why it can get so busy. (It also calmed down as we were leaving after the brunch rush). I would definitely come back.
