Double Absolut with soda and a splash of oj
    Gregory C.

Stopped in here three times while staying at the hotel it's attached to. Once for drinks at the bar and twice for breakfast. My double Abosolut with soda and a splash of oj was on point. But the breakfast kicks ass. I can definitely recommend all four dishes we had: 1) Le Montréalais Two poached eggs on English muffin, smoked salmon, fresh dill, hollandaise sauce, sautéed potatoes and fresh fruit. 2) French Crepe Red berries, 15 Lots estate maple syrup 3) Fairmont Bagel with smoked salmon Cream cheese, fresh fruit and garnishes 4) Renoir Belgian waffle Red berries, banana and 15 Lots estate maple syrup All were excellent. And the service was attentive but not intrusive.

Does not live up to the price and 4 star rating. While service was good, there were multiple areas that required major improvements. First, the host barely spoke English, doesn't know how the pos machine functions, and gave us a blank menu. In terms of the food, the biggest letdown was the octopus, do not get it. We did not like the sauce nor the octopus itself. Really don't want to keep writing since there's really nothing much to write home about, except the fact that tables were easy to book thru OpenTable. I will leave it right there, at 100 usd per person, just don't go there. Food 2/5 Service 2.5/5 Value 1/5 Ambiance 3/5

The food was phenomenal. Next time I'm in Montreal, Renoir will be my first visit. I was super impressed by the quantity and presentation of the food. The ambiance was quiet and relaxing and the staff was attentive and kind. 10/10

grilled lamb chops, salsa verde, pearl couscous and eggplant caviar

Looking for the perfect location for a lunch date? Renoir offers an unbeatable lunch special. For the quality and quantity of food served, the cost is reasonable! For $36, you get a choice of appetizer, main, dessert and coffee/tea. The lunch options were extensive and there's something for everyone - carnivores, pescatarians and vegetarians. I ordered the Beef Tartare for my appetizer. The portion was insanely huge and could have quite easily been a main. It's served with a hand full of match stick fries and crispy capers. The tartare was well seasoned and enjoyable. For my main, I ordered the grilled lamb chops, salsa verde, pearl couscous and eggplant caviar. The entire plate was delicious, and once again, the portion was more than enough. For dessert, I had the cheese cake. This may have been the highlight of the meal for me. I found the texture wasn't as dense as your typical cheesecake - it was light and fluffy. Luckily for me, this restaurant is a stone's throwaway from work. So, yes - I will definitely be returning very soon!

Our breakfast was a pure delight. One of the best waffles I ever remember eating. Even the jars or marmalade were incredible. Wow, what a meal.

I can't put my finger on it, but I really like this place. It could be the decor, the staff, the food and the location / convenience. There's just enough attention to details and I've even made suggestions to my wife how she should present my food at home.

    outdoor patio dining

This restaurant was recommended in the AAA book. Had a good first impression on dining room and outdoor patio. Opted for the outdoor patio because of the nice weather. Seats outside are not very comfortable as they were plastic. I waited 15 minutes for a waitress to take my order. My first choice from the menu not available. My second wasn't either! Off to a bad start. They should tell you up front what isn't on avaiable when they give you the menu or better yet print a daily menu. Prixe fix dinner here set me back 66.69 before tip. I opted to start with a first course of black rice with a zucchini flower fried on top and burratta cheese. The complimentary basket of bread offered a variety of tasty breads. The waitress brought out a complimentary mini appetizer that was excellent-two morels with tiny slices of zucchini over a mini toast. After 30 minutes of sitting I got my first course. It did not look appealing nor taste good. The black rice was cooked right but was way too salty. The burratta cheese just tasted like the cracked black peppercorns that was liberally added to the cheese. The only tasty thing was the one fried zucchini flower, which was excellent. The waitress asked how I like the dish and I told her that I didn't like it. There was no offer to switch it out nor was my empty water glass filled until I finally asked for more water. I told the waitress that I hoped the main course would not be too salty or peppery. Had I not been tired I would have insisted they take back this dish and provide something else. An hour into dinner, finally got the main course of lamb and was told by a different waitress that it had no pepper or salt. It didn't have pepper but my palate sensed it had salt and alittle too much of it. Meanwhile, I overheard the couple at the next table complain that one of their first courses was too salty! The lamb was not the best cut of meat but was okay. It was served with green beans, yellow beans, yummy baby carrots, baby parsnips and a few fresh herbs. Too much salt on vegetables when they did not need any salt. I thik it was missing a key ingredient that was on the menu, lardons. Another waitress offered to make up for the quality of food with a free salad though I declined. Ended the meal with a berry creme eclair and a very good cappuccino. The service was slow and so it almost two hours to eat from sitting down to dessert. Way too long sitting in hard plastic chairs! I wish my order had been as good as the free appetizer of morels and zucchini. A good start to meal went downhill from there. Considering the cost of 67 before tip, I expected better service, better food, and better chairs. The manager came over too acknowledge that my complaint will be addressed with the kitchen. I won't be coming back to find out if things improve.

This was the hotel bar/resto in the hotel we stayed at (Sofitel Montreal) Can't unfortunately attest to the food but the atmosphere was quirky and fun to hang out in. It was extremely clean, and the few beers that they had were interesting I'd come knock a couple back here again!

    Nice ambiance....

This restaurant is located in the Sofitel Hôtel in Downtown Montreal. We had the choice to sit inside or outside on the terrace. Beautiful summer night is to be enjoyed outdoors. There are 2 different menu's and I opted for the dinner menu. Ambiance was upbeat since they have a DJ playing some good music. The hostess was friendly and shared some info on the menu's. I started with a Virgin Caesar which was refreshing and ordered the Ricotta and Tomme d'elle cheese gnocchi with peas as the main course. Small portion, light with some nice flavours. Night cap was a Cappuccino. The whole picture was enjoyable. My friend Fatina ordered from the Bar menu which the portions are bigger. She took home a doggy bag. Lol. Oysters seem to be the hit on the menu. Left with

Came here for New Year's Day brunch with the family. I found the reservation process a bit awkward, in order to secure a place they emailed me a form which I had to complete and then email back. Don't know why they didn't just take my credit card details over the phone. The brunch buffet was very good, with a nice selection of hot and cold items. There were oysters, roast beef, roast turkey and rack of lamb. Also an extensive selection of delicious pastries. Excellent coffee. The service was friendly but they seemed very understaffed. There was a wait for plates to be cleared and water glasses went unfilled. We had to chase waitstaff for drinks and cutlery. 5 stars for the food, 3 for service. For the price, I expected better. Next time will try somewhere equivalent like the Ritz.

Lovely dinner out first night in Montreal. Great decor, great service, great food. One of our favorites in Montreal. One note: we tried the blackberry oysters from Prince Edward Island and loved them with champagne. Fine dining on Sherbrooke a stones throw away from the Ritz Carlton and McGill.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. I departed the room well before the 4pm check-in time for new guests; I checked out just 2 hours late (literally it was 2 hours). They nonetheless slapped me with a $60 fine for this very small, very human error. It was one of the worst days of my life, I was in tears and begged them not to charge me. I am also disabled and they not only refused to remove the $60 fine, they also did not help me with my bags when my taxi came, they let me limp and drag my own luggage to the curb. I am beyond shocked at this cruelty and greed, at this utter lack of compassion and inability to relate to a fellow human being as anything other than a cash cow. I will never forget being treated this way when I was in distress. Also the breakfast is terrible and overpriced; the coffee was cold, the fruit was flavorless and dried out, there were few fresh and healthy choices, mostly ultra processed yoghurt and cereals, commercialized white bread.
