Got the Caesar salad and foiegwa spaghetti on their dinner special- Caesar was just alright, spaghetti was delicious and al dente but heavy and needed some acidity like tomatoes. My wife had the shrimp cocktail and duck breast dinner special- she said it was the best shrimp cocktail she's ever had and the duck was perfectly cooked with a very complimentary sauce. Beef tartare appetizer was good. Food came out quickly. Service was adequately attentive, she was there when she should have been. Wouldn't recommend any espresso drinks, but their cocktails are delightful. All of their deserts are excellent. Beautiful decor and ambiance, but it felt less relaxed because of how little space they have. Came here yesterday for brunch and almost regretted it. You know when the food is a little too rich that it makes you feel slightly ill? Well that happened to me. Absolutely nothing wrong with the food. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and a side of the fries with Beschemel sauce and truffles and they were great, it's just it was a little too rich for me, that's all. I came in with a group of 6 and other members of our group had the ricotta pancakes, the Ratatouille Eggs Benedict and everyone enjoyed their brunch. It's a pretty small space almost like a cross between a diner and a bistro, elevated casual I guess. Service is brisk and the servers are friendly. I had dinner at Foiegwa a few weeks ago when I was on a solo trip to Montreal, and my meal there was a highlight of my trip. The restaurant is gorgeous, and the service was outstanding (I sat at bar, which I love to do for a solo dinner). But the food is what really blew my mind. I ordered from the tasting menu ($49 a person unless you choose an upgrade; I chose a $7 upgrade for my first course). I selected: the foie gras au torchon with spiced onion and red wine jam; the homemade spaghetti with butter and black truffle, 64 degree egg yolk, and Parmesan; and the cereal milk panna cotta with berry jam and banana granola. Every dish was outstanding. Outstanding. I could barely stand by the end of the meal (I felt like I ate enough for 2), but it was worth it. I had some great wine with the meal also! A nice spot which offers great value for your meal. So many places here start at $30+ for their mains but there they start at $20 which my pocketbook definitely appreciates. I got the beef tartare (~18$) and the gnocchi (31$) and to me the beef tartare was really the standout. You get a generous portion of meat and fortunately you can get refills of crisps at no extra charge! This being my first experience with tartare I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! The meat did not have any game-y taste or strong beef flavor. Really it just served as a nice vehicle for the sauce and egg. It was not that different from poke or sashimi in my opinion besides the obvious requirement of needing to chew more because of the different texture, but otherwise equally great. The gnocchi had a nice broiled top which punches with flavor and the mushrooms soaked up the sauce nicely. It was a very warm and cozy atmosphere here and gave the place an intimate feel. read more

Thé foie gras is excellent with the crisp toasted brioche and the sweet and tart jam really accentuates it's velvety texture. I got the duck and my friend got the mussels, both very classic and well done. The waitress was very helpful picking wine and cocktails to go with our meals. We came here after not being able to get a seat at Joe Beef and man am I glad we came here instead. They have all the traditional French classics we like (duck, foie gras, escargot, beef tartare). We came here on our first day in Canada and it was a great reminder of how much we loved French food. If you come in a group, you can try all of them. They're all reasonably priced (at least for someone who pays a premium to eat it in the United States). Restaurant is really nice, good for families or a hot date. Our waitress was super quick and took care of us really well. Love this place. So my favorite thing here is definitely the cheeseburger. Formerly called the Foie gras burger, they no longer serve Foie gras anymore, they said it was torture to animals which I thought was interesting because they sort of named their restaurant after it . I originally came for this burger and expected it to have the foie gras on it, but this burger was actually incredibly delicious even without it! 5 star item for sure! My second favorite item was the escargot . It was served in shells as is the traditional way, and I loved the garlic butter and crunchy topping forgot what that was, but flavors and textures were definitely popping. Definitely a solid 4.5 star maybe even 5 star escargot. We also had the chicken liver mouse. We both liked it. This was my first time eating it where everything was sort of combined together like that. I've normally spread it on bread and added jelly etc to the bread one by one. But nonetheless it was pretty good. Definitely worth 4 stars! We got a side of the bechamel fries. This was super Earthy notes, but good. 3.5 or 4 star for sure. We enjoyed it, and may or may not try it again next time, but it was nothing to write home about. What also stood out about this place was the service. I didn't even have to complain about anything, they noticed that I didn't like the truffle pasta I ordered so they removed it and gave me a new dish! Great customer service!! Ambience was great. However the manager was not very accommodating. We came for the after 9pm deal and we ordered two mains. I did not like my main. I had ordered pasta and the dish looked like orzo and did not taste very good. Tasted grassy. I asked the manager if I can switch my dish to one of the other options, my plate was still full. I only had a few bites. She told me since I already ate it she will still charge me for a different dish. I obviously had to taste my dish otherwise how would I know if it's good or not? I asked if she would take it off the bill then as again it was a full plate I only had a few small bites and she said no. Not very accommodating and surprised that if a customer is unhappy with their dinner then they must pay for a new dish or leave unhappy and pay for a dish they didn't like. I had their salmon gravid lax through the Atwater cocktail club. I'm gluten free. Not out of choice- I really hate it- but My stomach can't keep gluten down, or in my body. They gave me pieces of salmon with roe on top. Good quality of both. But not what I asked for. And no explanation as to why. Gravid lax is naturally gluten free. My family make it every year. It's dill, alcohol and spices. If you're making it w gluten you're making it wrong. So either a) they didn't like my diet and decided to retaliate or B) they didn't like I'm an American visiting Canada and decided to retaliate. And I can't blame them for hating Americans right now. I fully support every single tariff on us products. But also I didn't vote for the fucker, and I'm actively fighting with protest letters everyday, and I'm coming to Canada to boost their economy instead of mine. I'd rate Foiegwa four and a half stars. Awesome brunch spot. We shared the breakfast slam and an order of blueberry pancakes. The slam is the way to go with a little bit of everything. The pancakes are scone like making them unique. I was happy with all the variations of pork and accompaniments on the plate. It was hearty and delicious! A savory and salt breakfast! For drinks, I started with their spill the tea cocktail which was a whiskey and tea based cocktail. After peering at the bar, I found out that they're related to a cocktail and whiskey bar nearby and that some good picks end up here. I ended up choosing the Canadian Club 40. I think the oldest whiskey I had prior to this was a 21 year old, so having the opportunity to try one at 40 was quite cool. It was priced at $34 for an oz. Service was very accommodating and allowed us to lounge around. Lots of folks came dressed nicely yet casually, so I believe it's bit of a fashionista spot. read more

We decided to go here for dinner, and it was the right choice! We made a reservation for 7pm and it was the perfect time to experience the transition from breakfast to evening, while being graciously transported to a fine French dinner experience. We immediately order cocktails and dived into the menu. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Montreal for beef tartare. The Beef Tartare melts in your mouth accompanied by waffle chips. Each dish order had multiple flavors that complemented and added layers of dimension to my surprise. Dessert was also very good! Got upsold by our waitress on getting a lobster eggs benedict. It sounded delicious and a must get - however it was our fault that we did not ask for the price of this and just ordered it. It was definitely on the pricey side for this lobster eggs benedict, coming out to being $45 for the dish which was a surprise (and not) for us when the bill came. But again - that's on us haha! After trying escargot for the second time in my life I have come to the conclusion that I'm not a fan. But if you like escargot or want to give it a try you can't go wrong with this place. The Beef Tartare melts in your mouth accompanied by waffle chips. Oysters were fresh, small (this is a good thing in our opinion, makes for the best oysters) and came with all the fixings. Crispy Potatoe Rosti was a pleasant surprise, who knew something so simple could be elevated with crème fraîche and caviar so well. For our main course Greg had the Gnocchi duck confit and smoked duck breast, which was so freaking good! Gnocchi and duck?! Tasted sooo delicious, PERFECTION! And I had the Chicken and Matane Shrimp Vol-au-vent, never had a pastry mixed with chicken and seafood and let me tell you is all cooked on a lobster gravy that was finger licking good, I cleaned the plate! That dish inspired me to learn how to make anything vol-au-vent. After all everything goes better with a flaky pastry. For dessert we had the decadent and rich Mousse au Chocolat which was so fresh, it almost felt like made to order and accompanied by these almond snaps that was the perfect dipping companion to such goodness. Drinks were spot on all throughout the dinning experience. Let's me just add... They know how to make a great extra dirty gin martini!!! The waiters/waitresses are really kind. One of the waitresses even helped me decide which cocktail I should get, as I didn't know which one to order and they all sounded very tasty. (By the way, I came here to eat dinner with my friend.) FOIEGWA is known for their cocktails, so any one would never be a miss. Food and Taste: All the food items are exceptional. The chicken and waffles were a bit dry given it was white meat but lovely breading and lots of sauce to make up for it. The pasta was delicious and flavor was subtle but impactful and comparable to an italian restaurant. Only complaint was the portion left a little more to be desired for the pasta. The duck confit Croque Monsieur was a large portion. Very heavy and has ALOT of cheese if you like that. Very savoury and rich, good for hangry people. The bread was fluffy and light. Cost: The items cost between $20-$30 which was reasonable given the quality of the items. The filtered coffee has free refills so thats nice Atmosphere: The restaurant had limited seating with lots of two people tables, but limited group seating Staff: They were are all approachable and kind. They did not rush any of the people despite being busy. It was nice when you are seated, annoying when you are waiting a long time. Wait Time: We arrived Sunday at 10AM and there was a wait time of 30-60 mins. This is one of those spots that you eye but don't actually go to. It looks trendy and expensive. After probably a decade of driving by it, I finally stopped for early Sunday brunch. I had eggs Benedict--it's what I always get because it's too much of a pain to make yourself. The plate suggested a strange mix of flavours but it did not disappoint. They somehow got the spinach and peas to coordinate with the capers, sunflower seeds, and feta, (not to mention the poached egg and Hollandaise sauce) to give a believe it or not, fresh tasting eggs benefit. I stumbled upon Foiegwa in a late night effort to get some French styled food while in Montreal. I thought the name was quite clever, although I'm not sure of its significance, and decided to check it out. I don't have much experience eating foie gras, but let me say that it was excellent here. It was so fatty and juicy, and melts in your mouth. It was not your typical pasty and cold kind - it was very well prepped and absolutely delicious! I had some escargo and some pasta, which were both also very good, but they definitely fell in the shadows of the foie gras. I had a cocktail drink too, which was very good - I wish I remember what it was. The staff was friendly and very cheerful. The ambience was good with moody lighting.
