This was by far our best meal, while in town. Not only was it a fun experience getting to sit and cook your own food and add as much cheese as you wanted, but it was a quaint little place and good for a date night. I dined at Raclette several years back (2019) and had a truly wonderful experience. I was excited to return to the restaurant and enjoy a similar time this visit to MTL, but was rather disappointed with the quality of the service we experienced. While the food is excellent and the atmosphere is very romantic and pleasant, I was at first put off by the confusing menu. I am proficient in French and requested the French menu. My bf does not speak French and requested the English menu. The raclette choices didn't make much sense to me in French, so thinking it was a language issue, I checked the English menu as well. No, not a language issue, it is just very confusing. There are the following options for raclette. 1.) European style raclette, cheese of the day, cured meats or vegetarian 40$/pers. 2.) La Pierrade all meat (beef, pork, poultry, sausages, cheese)  48$/pers. 3.) La Pierrade Surf & Turf (beef, pork, chicken, shrimps, scallop, salmon, cheese)  57$/pers. There is the notation "all shared dishes comes with potatoes, vegetables, salad, pickles". What I wanted to know was what type of vegetables come with each option such as mushroom, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, etc. This is not explained anywhere on the menu. It was completely unclear what specific vegetables we would be served. I prefer to eat mostly vegetarian and selected the vegetarian menu of the European style raclette and bf had the meat version. We only received a bowl of potatoes and a small bowl with a few mushrooms, cauliflower and broccoli and a couple slices of red peppers. On previous visits we were served cornichons. No cornichons this time. It would be nice if they had some more variety of vegetables or included other items like apples and pears. I requested more mushrooms and we were not charged for them, but I would have happily paid for more mushrooms to come out if it had been more clear what we'd get for the "vegetables". The servers seems to ignore our party of two. It was hard to get refills of water as they were generally tending to larger tables. The final straw for me in terms of the service was when I was paying for the meal with my credit card and selected the receipt option of "email receipt". I then had to enter my email. The waiter stood there staring at me while I entered my email and made a comment to the effective of, "oh, we don't normally do that since it take so much time and we are so busy here". I almost wanted to say, well excuse me for spending over $100 here and inconveniencing you for 2 seconds. SMH. I still think the food and atmosphere are great but found them extremely lacking in the service department on this visit. I hope this was just an anomaly and the waiter we received was just having a bad day or something but I honestly hope he won't be there when we return. Also, street parking is very rough in this area. We had to park several blocks away and walk over 10 minutes each way. I'd recommend coming via Uber or Metro + walk. At the bottom of the reservation there's a notation about the possibility of obtaining a parking pass from the restaurant when you arrive in exchange for cash. This is such a fun place to have dinner with friends. Every item on the menu was excellent. The staff were quick to bring food, courteous and prompt on topping up your water. It was a full night but the service was on point with different team members helping out as needed. The MTL à Table menu was a nice deal and got me through the door to discover their menu cause otherwise I would've found the menu kind of pricey on a regular day. This is a restaurant that understood the assignment!! We enjoyed everything about our evening--good food and friends! The pink peppercorn raclette with 4 half potatoes had the best tasting fragrant cheese ever but it is rich so you might want to share it and eat it with the fresh baguette bread provided. The salmon confit was so fresh with the dill and cream--delightful! The rabbit rillettes were delicious paired with the cranberry balsamic jam. I asked for more croutons to go with it. The shredded veal and mushrooms was rich and creamy. The crusted cod was accompanied with a really wonderful creamy sauce. I definitely recommend these two dishes. The Cornish hen is the leg and the wing which may be hard to eat elegantly with a knife and fork. The Océane raclette bowl I found had more broccoli and cauliflower than seafood. There were small shrimp in there and topped with salmon pieces accompanied with a side of salad. It was tasty but very cheesy so I couldn't finish it all (take home). As for desserts, the chocolate dome was so tasty with the caramel and raspberries. Witness its glorious destruction by molten caramel sauce! The Mont Blanc might look like strands of raw chicken meat but I promise you it was tastier than it looked! It paired well with the vanilla ice cream base. Overall, a great new find for me. I was looking forward to a great fondue/raclette experience, but unfortunately La Raclette did not quite deliver. The primary problem with this restaurant is the limiting and strict format of their menu. If you want cheese fondue for 2 people, you cannot have any raclette or the hot stone grill and vice versa. The fondue or raclette is 55$/ person for the table d'hote, while the raw meats grilled at the table rings in at 63$ ( or 72$ if you add exactly 2 shrimp and 1 scallop per person). Incidentally, all prices are about 20$ higher than listed on their website. If the experience had been amazing, I wouldn't ordinarily care about the price discrepancy. I understand that restaurants need to recoup some money these days. We ordered the grilled meats and seafood with raclette cheese which costs 144$ for 2 people. On top of that most of the appetizers and desserts have supplementary charges, therefore the dinner with tax and tip came in just a hair below 200$. For the price, I was underwhelmed. When I think of classic fondue restaurants I remember having a first course dipping some bread and vegetables in a cheese fondue. The second course would be either a Chinese style fondue cooking meats in oil or grilling them on a stone. Because of the strict menu however, simply adding a pot of cheese to a order is not an option unless you want to spend an extra 80$. (40 x 2people minimum à la charge price for fondue) . The restaurant wants to desperately ensure that everyone spends at least 40 dollars (it's even written on their website), so they include a small plate of 2 mini pickles, literally 4 miniature fried potatoes the size of home fries, and a small handful of lettuce in oil. I have no idea what people are talking about in these reviews when they said there is an abundance of food. Look at the picture of raw meat they gave us to grill. Being a Watchers Watchers alumni, I'm pretty accurate gauging portion sizes. Combined, I would guess that there was no more than 10 ounces of protein to be grilled and split amongst 2 people. For 200$, even including the 4 slices of cheese, diminutive portion of potatoes and a few baskets of bread, the value here is poor. my appetizer of duck confit was absolutely awful. Served cold and wrapped in a wet leaf of greenery, it was basically a clump of tasteless and unseasoned cold mystery meat. The 4 slices of raclette cheese were delicious, but the 2 sauces were forgettable and generic. I would have preferred a few extra shrimp, some more meat, and much more potatoes, pickles and vegetables on the side. There was next to nothing there! Finally, if you are going to throw in a seafood option don't give a customer one small scallop. It's disappointing and ridiculous. Who eats a single lonely scallop?? Our waiter kept telling us that dessert was going to be a "show". Basically they cover a very small piece of cake with a thin dome of chocolate. Then they melt it with some "chocolate whiskey " sauce. It sounds better than it was. The portion was small and the flavours weren't rich, just overly sweet. I have a crazy suggestion for a fondue restaurant at dessert time; Try a chocolate fondue with some sliced fruit. How is this not an option? Surely, this can't be the best the city of Montreal has to offer in terms of fondue? Unfortunately, there only seems to be a handful left. Most places are outside of the city. The good news is that I'm fairly confident that after buying a fondue or raclette set , I could pull off a great meal that would be a marked improvement over this restaurant. read more

Lovely restaurant that has a very simple menu for raclette and fondue. The staff was extremely friendly and their terrace was so nice in the summer. They even have little heat lamps at each table for when it got chilly. The menu is simple but a little complex at the same time. It assume you're 2 or more people. They offer a 3 course meal, and if you pick it, you're getting 3 courses per person. So 2 appetizers, the raclette for 2, and 2 deserts. It's expensive and a ton of food, but it's really darn good so I'd say it's worth it for a date or special occasion. We got the shrimp/lobster crepe and beef tartare appetizers. They give you a lot with your raclette too, I didn't expect it. Potatoes, vegetables, ham, salami, a salad, and 8 slices of raclette. And bread. Per person. It's heavy but it's so good. The European style raclette choice comes with an oven with a burner in it that lets you heat up the slices of cheese in little pans. There is also an option for a fondue pot with gruyere cheese or a meat grilling top. Fun options. For desert because we did the 3 courses per person, we opted for 1 chocolate dome that melts with ice cream and fruit. Otherwise it's an extra charge if you get it without. Again it's a bit expensive particularly because besides the appetizer and the desert it's not really prepared food and it's not particularly expensive food being served. La Raclette, a hidden gem in the plateau Mont-Royal, a place where you'll never imagine to find the definition of fine dinning. Needless to say, this is the perfect a place to enjoy with friends and your loved ones. No matter what you order, it will be a party in your month. I ordered a pot-au-feu de Canard which came with a tender duck leg which was cooked to perfection. It was soo tender that I didn't even need my knife. The dish also came big piece of saucisson which complemented the duck very well. It also came with a pork breast which was, again, delicious. The whole dishes left a wonderfull taste in my mouth. I have dined at this authentic raclette and fondue restaurant now in three occasions, including yesterday evening. We made reservations online for the 7 pm seating, but we were a few minutes late due to the difficulty finding a parking spot. Apparently the restaurant does offer a special temporary street parking permit for $6 when you check in, but didn't know this and we ended up walking several blocks to and from the establishment, parking for free in a 2 hour spot in an adjacent neighborhood. After we explained this to the staff, they were nice and accommodating and we were promptly seated. We ordered their European style raclette dinner, which comes with 8 slices of cheese for each person, and accompanied by steamed baby potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus spears, and a green salad, and I ordered mine with the cured meats (included with the raclette price of $40 per person) and my girlfriend requested mushrooms instead of the meats. The menu was a bit confusing, but in addition to raclette there's fondue and other sides available, but the basic raclette dinner is very large and satisfying. The restaurant also has a BYOB policy so we brought our own wine and they didn't charge an uncorking fee. The service was generally good, although the water refills were slow and the waiter didn't quite clarify our questions about the menu, even though my girlfriend is fluent in French. We have been to La Raclette three times in the past year and each visit was top notch. From the warm, friendly hostess (who was kind enough to point us in the direction of the closest wine store--since La Raclette is BYOB) to the knowledge attentive servers, to the romantic and charming atmosphere, this spot has never let us down. It's $36pp for fondue, which is served with cured meats, vegetables, salad, bread, and potatoes. We had the soup of the day to start and, although I could not pronounce it, I can say it was yummy! My very first experience at a Swiss raclette restaurant was here today and as usual, after checking the reviews on Yelp which were quite positive, I didn't hesitate to give it a try. The best dish in f the night was a salmon carpaccio 10 on 10. One of the best entrees in the city. We also had the mushroom pole to espuma, which was good. We shared a cheese fondue. The cheese fondue was a little on the salty side and the choice of dipping foods were limited to charcuterie, bread and potatoes. Would have liked more variety to make it more fun. Incredible restaurant! Everything was just really, really good. My son said the gazpacho was the best soup he's ever had. The other soup was chicken consommé with zucchini and it was just tremendous as well. We had the raclette which was both very tasty and entertaining. The meats were great as was the cheese. Tucked away on a residential street is a most charming and wonderful restaurant! We made a last minute reservation to La Raclette to finally try raclette and after our experience here, were so happy we did. We were warmly greeted by our host, and seated by a window, which we had requested. Our waiter was extremely welcoming and explained how the menu worked. After receiving some delicious French bread and a jar of small cornichon pickles, we ordered the raclette for two, and a kid's fondue meal for our child, who was very excited to have gazpacho with it as well. The German Beer soup I got as an appetizer was delicious and a heartier version of French Onion soup. My husband had the scallop app, which was a thinly sliced raw carpaccio, very fresh and mild tasting. For the main course, we were presented with a burner box and small square tray for melting the cheese. On top of the box were two small square dishes containing quartered boiled potatoes in one dish and sautéed mushrooms, red peppers and asparagus pieces, as well as a large plate of the cheese slices, thinly sliced ham, salami, dried prosciutto and a serving of a lovely green salad with thinly sliced beets on it. My son received a smaller version of their fondue and it was perfect for him (as well as us to sample). He too received a dish with salad, some ham and veggies to dip and a basket of bread pieces as well. We had so much fun melting our cheese and figuring out different combinations to eat our melted cheese with, and both meals were outstanding. Since we brought our own wine as well, it was even more enjoyable. The service was also excellent and attentive, with our water cups being refilled quickly (such rich food makes one thirsty, after all!). Finally for dessert I ordered the Chocolate Dome which was presented with flair and melted for us by our waiter with warm butterscotch. Inside the dome was ice cream, small cubes of pound cake and fresh berries on the perimeter. It was like a chocolate fondue without the pot! This had to be the best dining experience we have had in Montreal so far and beyond the excellent food, we had such a wonderful experience visiting this outstanding place! We came here for fondue, but ended up having raclette and it did not disappoint! It is a pre fix menu that comes with a soup. It is also a BYOB, wine or beer. The waiter set up a small raclette melter-machine on our table. The cheese comes with cured meats and some vegs and potatoes. We had fun melting the cheese and pouring it on top of the potatoes and such. My favorite was the jar of cornichons the waiter put on our table. My only con about this place would be the price. Oh, my. La Raclette was excellent. So, my husband and I were staying in an Airbnb in Montreal - our first trip to the city. We were walking from our Airbnb to the closest métro station and we passed La Raclette. Since I lived in France at one point, I know and LOVE raclette. My host mom made it a few times and it was always super fun and amazing. Since they didn't open until 5:30 p.m., we decided to eat dinner there on our way back from our afternoon of sightseeing. I was super impressed with everything La Raclette was doing. First of all, they are BYOW so you can walk one block, grab a cheap bottle of red or white, and bring it back to the table. Yum. Second, their entire menu is a prix fixe. You can order two or three courses, which include a soup + entree or soup + appetizer + entree. Since you're eating at La Raclette, you MUST order raclette as your entree. Here's the deal: raclette is a type of cheese from Switzerland that is melted and poured on various meats, veggies, and tubers. The raclette "maker" works like this: you have a metal tray that is either inserted or placed onto a hot, metal surface with cheese on top so it melts and gets super gooey. You then take this gooey, melted cheese and pour it all over the meats, veggies, and tubers. The raclette entree comes with potatoes, assorted veggies, deli meats, cornichons, and bread. Pour at will and enjoy. You will NOT be disappointed. I absolutely LOVED this place and would go back in a heartbeat if I find myself in Montréal some time in the future. I totally missed raclette since I had only ever experienced it in France, so I was so excited and France-homesick to have raclette in Montréal. May be this is the reason I can not imagine this place as a perfect location for romantic dinner. Regardless of how busy is the restaurant the service is prompt and attentive, and the food is served timely. The restaurant focuses on traditional Swiss raclette and fondue, but there is also an amazing choice of appetizers and main courses that are cooked to perfection and are regularly updated on the menu. The food is ordered as small or big full course meal options. Highlights of my last visit are the red peppers soup and deer tartar. The raclette portion is very generous and preparing it is fun. For those who plan to eat raclette, research and choose carefully the wine pairing options. The brunch menu is bit more pricey than your average breakfast place around Plateau, but the BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle...of wine, not liquor) makes it a good place to have a nice group brunch with mimosas. Heaven. Just what I wanted on a chilly night in Montreal. We had the small meal, which came with a stellar spinach and mushroom soup topped with fried onions, followed by the raclette of course. The raclette was delicious, as always, with excellent accompaniments, including 3 kinds of cured meats, potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, peppers, and cauliflower. And the standout unique touch--thin slices of apples that seemed to have been soaked in cider. They were so delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, and the space was warm and quiet, making for a bit of a romantic setting on a cold night with lightly falling snow. It is BYOB so we were able to bring a split of a really delicious wine that reminded us that we really need to pay more attention to wine quality on a daily basis. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Montreal. I have been twice now and both times were exceptional. For a fixed price, you get an appetizer, soup, unlimited bread, entree, dessert, and coffee. The prices are beyond reasonable for the amount of (amazing) food that you you get. Food is as good as or better than anything I've had in Boston/NYC without the rip-off factor. Both times I had the flank steak, which comes with sauteed green beans and these hashbrown-like crispy potatoes that are to die for. I've also had their mushroom soup and regular dinner salad (which is loaded with figs and some fun cheeses) and both were awesome. The one thing not to miss, however, is the Raclette. Ask for extra peppercorns, you will not be disappointed. I know few things better than a slab of baked, melted cheese on a plate. It's served with a side of gherkin pickles, which sounds strange but the combination is really incredible. I have also had tried their creme brulee and chocolate torte, both fantastic. It's BYOB, which of course always helps keep our wallets happy! And they never judge for bringing a bottle per person :) The services is always over the top as well. Their menu is in French only, however, staff are always helpful with the translation. The ambiance is beautiful too; it's a small neighborhood joint that is near downtown but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of everything. Incredible. Anyone staying in the touristy heart of Montreal should find time to grab an Uber or take the metro down to this place for dinner. Our Uber cost us less than $10 American and the BYOB was an interesting experience you don't really get anywhere in the U.S. The food was INCREDIBLE. We all got the 3 course dinner and the beef was the favorite of the table for sure. No wifi here, but it was okay because it encouraged us to all enjoy each other's company. Delightful meal in a lovely little restaurant. It's "bring your own wine" which is very nice since you can pick something you enjoy and pay much less for it. We had the raclette which is such a fun and delicious way to enjoy large amounts of melted cheese with a nice assortment of vegetables and meats. Our waiter was very pleasant without being overbearing. It was the most memorable part of our weekend trip to Montreal. read more

Sweet ambience and delicious cheese fondue - I also love that it's BYOB. You choose between a small (around $26) or large (around $36) 'table d'hôte.' or any main dish. I'm sure the appetizers and desserts must be good but I've never been even a little hungry after the small version, which comes with soup before an coffee/tea after the main dish. First time trying a raclette and i wasn't so bad. Its a BYOW restaurant which is a good point. We were four people. I was the only one who took the grande table d'hôte so i had the beef tartar with two bread croutons that were burned.So i asked for a waiter, not ours, if i could have other croutons and my boyfriend asked for more bread and butter and the waiter was so rude and so sarcastic it wasn't pleasant at all. When he came back with my appetizer he said that these croutons were the last ones in the kitchen.. Something i hardly believe. The other people took the petite table d'hôte and they liked their potage à la courge. I tried it too it was good indeed. Two of us had the Raclette duo and the two other took the émincé de veau and another main dish i can't remember the name but i know that the meat was lamb and that it was grilled. My boyfriend who had the grilled lamb dish asked for it to be medium cooked and it wasn't, it was more like well done. The restaurant itself is noisy but you can still have a conversation, it's dark and cozy just not a place for a romantic dinner, more like a dinner with friends. read more

The best meal we had during our trip to Montreal. Didn't try the fondue or the raclette but still really enjoyed what we got. I got the daily special of braised wild boar shoulder & my girlfriend got the lamb chops with caper & thyme sauce. Both were truly exceptional. You can tell they take great care if using quality ingredients and cooking techniques. Service was also outstanding and very attentive. Although, we didn't partake, the Bring-Your-Own-Wine is a really nice option. read more

Our meals were very good, however, I'd be lying if a said I was wowed by this place. The fondue dishes, while tasty, were not overly distinguishable from other fondues I have had at other places. Our table was also not large enough to comfortably seat four people who were sharing fondue dishes. I'd be inclined to try La Raclette again, but I think I might order something other than fondue next time. read more
