This place was super busy and is a hop away from the Basilica. The almond croissant we had was not your typical shape of a croissant, but it was perfectly flavored with just the right texture not too soft not too crunchy. Even though I had to eat this on the street because the place was too full for dying in. It was definitely the best croissant I've had ever.
We loved the vibe, the service, the food. Eating our meals, the reason for the long line was clear. Some people were there for a full breakfast, while others were having just a hot beverage. I even like the vessels upon which the food was served. Not pictured are the incredible croissants and my meal.
Stopped by Olive + Gourmando after strolling Old Montreal. The restaurant has a nice cozy atmosphere with some character with their decor and layout. The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.
First time in Montreal and this place rated pretty high, so we wanted to stop by and try it out. The place itself is cute and trendy, but very small. Not good for big groups. And not great if you have kids under 2. We had our baby and they didn't provide high chairs. They have a kids menu, but didn't seem too kid friendly. I recommend for couples with no kids. Food was good, tasty sandwiches. I had their grilled cheese O+G - 8/10 - nice and crispy on the outside and cheese and onions on the inside. Solid sandwich. Also comes with some housemate ketchup. Not my jam, a bit sweet. I ordered chips on the side. Good chips. I had an iced latte 9/10, great latte. Service, eh... it was ok. Basic service. Overall, it's a cute and quick brunch/lunch place.
We went out of our way to try Olive + Gourmando, based on reviews and friends' recommendations. Some of the portions seem small (Sconewich), but very filling. I couldn't finish the Egg on Your Face, so I had the rest for lunch (it was almost as good cold!). But it was DELICIOUS. Everything was really tasty and the croissants are so flaky. Service is fast - but you can tell some of the items are freshly made (like the French toast and panini). The atmosphere is adorable & quaint. Seating is a bit crowded, but that makes it charming.
This place is my fav MTL brunch place! It's popular brunch spot so it had a quite a long queue but worth waiting! Unfortunately we didnt get to try their almond croissant bc someone right before me bought ALL of them on the display I like their warm cozy interior. Feels like im inside a warm winter cottage! I personally didnt like their coffee bc it's tooo dark and condensed, could be french press coffee, not my go to coffee. Their service is avg. it's a very busy place, so i didnt have any expectation on the service and it was good enough! Price is a bit pricey side for their sandwiches ... since it's located at the tourist area, old Montreal.

Their sandwiches are so good. Service was also friendly and everyone spoke English. A lot of folks hang out inside.
Cute cafe, wood table tops, French flare. Healthy and hearty menu. Had the Salad #24. Picture doesn't do it justice, big mound of salad. Mixed greens, tofu, soba noodles and a whole lot more. Wife had some kind of beet soup that was exceptional. Make reservations. Even on a Monday for lunch there was a steady lineup. Wasn't crazy about their coffee. Nice little O et G boutique with kitchen items attached to the restaurant. Service efficient and pleasant. Prices fair.
The food at this restaurant is incredible. I had the chicken melt, which seems too humble of a name for all the flavors going on. The bun, the chicken, cheese, coleslaw and pickle all worked together like magic in my mouth! My wife had the poached egg panini with prosciutto. Both of them were off. the. chart. The restaurant inside is small but quaint with that old school french charm. Simply lovely.
For a self-proclaimed foodie destination, this place just got crossed off this foodie's list. Admittedly we showed up after the lunch rush, but the place had been absolutely ransacked. The server seated us without warning, and when we went to order, each item we requested had run out. No Cuban, no chicken melt, no several other delicious sounding things. She gave us 10 more minutes to look over the menu and come up with a plan B. Truthfully I wanted to jump ship, but couldn't because our drink orders were already in, and I was captain of this gastronomic journey. We'd set sail without proper forecasting! We settled on the baked egg and salmon bowl, neither what we were exactly craving. The baked egg was fairly tasty, a shakshouka-esque experience accompanied by rustic bread for hasty dipping. The salmon bowl was excellent, with delicious dressing, but the salmon portion was oh-so-meager. It made me wonder if the lunch rush had given the kitchen such a beating that they had split my salmon filet in half and served it to me and my neighboring table friend. Check out my photo and tell me if that portion seems right? The lore says Michael Jordan worked his rear off every game because he always told himself there was probably at least one kid in the stands who came there to see THE Michael Jordan. Well this kid in the stands caught Olive et Gourmando taking the night off. There is a risk for peril if you choose this restaurant, especially if you are in Montréal for a limited time! read more
First stop during my visit to Montreal. Saw how many reviews this place had, and decided to try it out to see what it was all about. Very aesthetic and cute cafe located on the corner. You can dine-in or take it to go. They have a huge bakery selection right up in the front. Seating along the window with barstools or they have tables located in the middle. I got seated by the window and loved the people watching. Ordered the poached egg panini & a cinnamon roll. The panini is spicy!! So be careful or that is you can't handle much heat. I had to take half to go because of that! Bread was crispy and everything inside paired very nicely. The cinnamon roll was ok, more like a sticky bun vibe. I also ordered a latte with maple syrup and that was tasty too. Staff are all friendly & service is great! Definitely give this one a try! read more

Yum! Service was quick and overall the food was great. I enjoyed my fruit matcha and sandwich. I'd skip the croissant next time though - nowhere near as good as French bakeries. This is a cute place for a quick bite in the cute old town neighborhood. read more

**Vegetarian Friendly** They are a first come, first serve location. Waited about 45 minutes on a Friday Brunch slot. Walked around the area, picked up a coffee and came back. Our Order: (1) Almond Croissant - from their bakery. Light, crispy, butter, and fluffy all at the same time. (2) O+G Grilled Cheese - overhyped. It's good, but not great. We thought it was overly cheesy, and greasy/oily from the grill and onions. I can absolutely see the appeal on a cold winter day, but was a no on a beautiful summer morning. (3) Seasonal French Toast - Really good! Not too eggy, not too sweet, there's a bite with the sweetness. The seasonal fruit was peaches, which were sweet enough that you didn't even need maple syrup. Overall, great brunch opportunity! read more
This a casual, yet busy place, with tasty food. I had the Bostock, a pastry which is prepared with a kinda sweet brioche bread and stuffed with frangipane and almonds. That was for starters. My main dish was L'oeuf Coquette. This is a poached egg in tomato sauce, with feta, avocado, home made chorizo and grilled bread. Yummy! My dining partner had the Bol Cha-Cha-Chia. I was envious of the coconut pudding granola-like bowl with almonds, chia and banana. This is a creamy and nutty-like dense bowl with quinoa muesli base. Very tasty in an innovative way. read more
It's a really nice boutique restaurant. We went for breakfast and it was packed! It's a small space, so there has been a wait each time we've been. It's not long and normally has been 20-40 minutes. The coffee is fire!!!! It's a dark roast and extremely rich. You can taste the coffee and I love it. Everything was good. The toast tasted like sourdough and was crispy but a great chew. The jelly was a little chunky and tasted fresh! The Eggo Fuego was sooo good. There was no mess and the egg was fluffy. A tip is there is an area where you can order to go, so you can get the same food and go about your day! Just in case you don't have time to sit. read more

We were visiting Montreal for the first time and wanted a local eaterie and Olive + gourmando did not miss! Parking can be a bit tough as you have to do street parking. The Ambiance was casual but hipster/trendy, and the service was very friendly and made the experience memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, I ordered the chicken melt, and my girlfriend ordered the strawberry French toast (only available on weekends) the chicken melt was juicy and flavorful, the fresh salad tied the entire sandwhich together. The strawberry toast was the perfect sweetness, and the whip cream has a slight saltiness to it that balanced the meal. It was such a great dining experience when we come back to visit Montreal we will try it again! read more
We came here for brunch and completely understand the hype. It was busy and bustling this morning. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. A few vegetarian options although the menu could be expanded. The atmosphere is cozy but lively, and the service was warm without being overbearing. Highly recommend the paninis and pastries -- you can tell they care about every detail. A must-visit brunch spot in Montreal. We got a scone and croissant to go as well. Located in old town Montreal, this little corner cafe was BEE-ZEE! There was no line when we got there since we were early, but as soon as we got to place our orders, there was already a group of people waiting outside to be seated. The restaurant was full then. The host showed us to our table, we chose to sit by the window facing the morning sun. He warned us that many do not like sitting there as it was too hot, we didn't mind cos it's the morning sun and we get to look out onto the road, if not for our window, I wouldn't be able to warn you to come here early to score a seat. Our server took a while to take our orders, that was no problem. We were told she didn't forget about us. LOL. We had coffee and croissant and all was good. read more

We were having the lunch late, after two, and didn't want to stuff up as we've a dinner reservation at 7:30. We ordered two The Cuban sandwiches for four of us and the restaurant actually split the sandwiches for us. The restaurant was small and cute. The ginger iced tea was delicious as well. read more
Phil Rosenthal (Somebody Feed Phil) visted here, so it was on our "must visit" list for our trip to Old Montreal. Food quality and taste were beyond our expectations. Service was excellent. It was very busy when we arrived, but we were told it would only be a 10 minute wait. We sat outside on a bench, and waited to be called. I admired the ambiance as we were shown to our table. It was full, and noisy, but so much that we couldn't talk to each other. Bonus points for whoever designed the sound system that played 80s music during our visit. Enough speakers to fill the room with sound, and the system didn't need to played loud to be enjoyed. Coffee was superb. Just the right strength, with lovely notes of chocolate. I had the chicken melt, which was incredible. Real chicken pieces, sauce with a touch of heat, and toppings with just the right amount of savoury. Her panini was equally good. The star of the meal was the french roast. Heated all the way through, with the right balance of fruit, cheese, and syrop. read more

Ordered the poached egg panini and was very pleased with the taste and how everything was melted together. It is unexpectedly filling despite how well pressed the sandwich is. I also appreciate the little details in the branded paper and napkins. They also have a shop next door stocked with branded merchandise among other things that are definitely worth checking out. It was surprisingly busy during lunch hour on a Wednesday which I can only guess perhaps several of the patrons were people on lunch break from their work day. read more
*3.5 Stars* After seeing the many raving reviews, we decided to grab lunch here. There was a decent wait, about 30- 40 mins. We got sat in the back and it was pretty crowded, the back bar seating is pretty crammed. The service was very friendly and vibes were cozy. Weekend trip. French toast was my popular delicacy that I have ever tasted. It was heavy at the same time. Hot chocolate to drink cozied me up during the harsh winter. It seemed like a popular go-to-cafe and it was full all the time. Atmosphere was fun. And the staff were friendly. read more
The two separate doors on Rue St. Paul point to the other door to enter, but do enter the door closest to the side street Rue St. Pierre. The pastries look quite good, the almond croissant, scone with potato and caramel. Ordered grand latte with oat milk, Sencha green tea, smashed potato salad, granola, cha cha chia bowl, raisin + cinnamon toast, Mac & Cheese. C$84.22 The raisin + cinnamon toast blah, but there are not enough raisins or cinnamon, as I would prefer in the Pepperidge Farm brand. Not worth a side. The grand latte with oat milk was good. The Sencha green tea is so-so, a bit weak for the pot. The Gnocci Mac and cheese is quite good, what a nice crunchy crust and the Gnocci made it chewy and the Mac more unique. Flavor of the cheese sauce was good, made me want it all for myself. The smashed potatoes are flavorful and yummy. So many flavor profiles and textures. The granola and yogurt and fruit is just okay, not special though. Worth a skip. Service here is good. The Mac and Cheese and the smashed potatoes are worth a try, quite good! read more

We had breakfast at this delightful place two mornings on our vacation and loved everything we ordered. First, the coffee. We ordered Americanos, a mocha and a maple syrup oat milk latte and they were all fantastic. For food we tried the almond croissant, the granola bowl, the chia bowl, the cinnamon brioche and the cardamom bun. All were amazing! My favorites were the cardamom bun and the chia bowl. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and it's bustling with locals and tourists alike. Service is friendly and attentive as well. read more
The hubby and I visited Montreal for 4 days and ate at Olive + Gourmando twice which is not something we typically do in a city we're visiting for the first time. It was so delicious, about half a mile from where we were staying so a nice little walk, and had exceptional service. Their coffee drinks were superb with my favorite being the petite mocha. The food was quite good as well with the sweet ricotta being my husband's favorite. It was whipped ricotta with honey, orange marmalade served with soft toasted brioche. My favorite bites were the sconewich because the biscuit might've been the best I've tasted in a couple of years. The butter was thick, biscuit was perfectly salted, cheese was nutty and sharp, ham was thin and salty, paired perfectly with a peach jam. I also loved the granola bowl with the thick yogurt, roasted cinnamon apples, sliced matchstick apples, and homemade granola. We also had the toast plate with different breads, butter, and peanut butter, a chocolate croissant, and a regular butter croissant. All were delicious and I'd go back again just for a mocha. It's a cute spot, cozy interior, open kitchen which is small but efficient, and a kick ass staff who were attentive and wonderful. read more

Second time to Montreal and had been here before and made a point to visit again. Excellent service in a cozy eclectic setting and fabulous foods and not to be missed baked goods. Will definitely return read more
The Tex-Mex baked egg is amazing! The right balance of tangy salsa, fresh micro greens, cheese.....perfect combination. Their cinnamon brioche is ok. I would prefer it warmed tho. Their latte is thick and well balanced with their espresso with. Overall, good food, chic ambiance and friendly service. read more
Fancy ! And beers and drinks we've never heard of before. Very upscale eatery, so we had to try a bit of everything. We felt with the currency conversion we were getting a discount so pile on the extra scones and muffins. Highly rated and highly recommended by locals and it lives up to the reputation. read more
This place is so good for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or for having some tea/coffee with some sweets. They get really busy at times, but the service is fast and everyone end up having a great time. We ordered "The Chicken Melt" and "The Cuban". Both were really fresh and delicious. We sat on the high chairs by the window and enjoyed the view of rue Notre Dame while having our lunch. read more
