    Choco loco ;)
    Sebastien L.

Very good went there with a friend of mine as we were looking for Poutine and since we were at Mc Gill and see what was around we decided to go there and Try it I got myself a good burger and an apple Martini which both were delicious he got himself a Poutine and loved I also got the Choco Loco as dessert and very rich and flavorful but definitely on the big side . Our waiter was very nice and spokes perfectly both English and French definitely recommend this place . Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that in my opinion bacon was way too crispy for my liking but otherwise wonderful experience

This was a great brunch spot. Seems like a lot of the people from the business around the area come in for lunch. The wait staff is very professional and gets you what you need. The crepes were amazing, and the potato's were incredible. My husband had the eggs Benedict and he said it was the best he has had so far . Great drinks.

"Margarita" Pizza overly doused with cheese, tasted off, each had a slice, 1/2 was left untouched.

Of all the spots we ate at during our 2 week Montreal stay, this was our least favorite. It like a nicely decorated Denny's, so we probably should've stuck with breakfast, but we stopped by for dinner and were seated right away. We ordered a Poutine and calamari for appetizers; calamari was ok had a subtle kick to it 5/10 Poutine was actually pretty good, the cheese curds were perfectly melted, fries were crisp not soggy, we all enjoyed it 9/10 For dinner, we ordered: -A margarita pizza: too cheesy and wasn't really a margarita, no tomatoes, flavor was off, more than half of it was left on the plate. 1/10 -chicken avocado club sandwich, bland, slightly soggy and unappetizing, had a 1/4 and left the rest since no one wanted to try it 1/10 -Veal marsala: recommend by the waiter, it was good, but came with a side of spaghetti with marinara sauce as a filler which had no business being on the same plate, clash of flavors. 6/10 -Universal burger; dry, overcooked. There's a regulation to have beef cooked at 160 in Montreal, so even if you order it medium, they'll serve it well. Wish the waiter expressed that when we ordered. My son offered the rest of it to us which speaks volumes to how little he liked it. 2/10 Portions were large and generous. Overall we wouldn't go back and definitely not for dinner, if you're considering it, maybe stick with breakfast, but I'd stay skip the items we ordered, except for the Poutine The server was friendly and on it, the 2 stars were for the service and Poutine.

Excellent breakfast spot. Service was polite, gregarious, and attentive. The food was delicious and filling. Absolutely no complaints.

The place was next door to purchase hotel. Has sitting outside and inside. The portions are huge. We had a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their food. The Ambience inside looked good, but sitting outside on the patio when the weather was nice was my preferred choice. I definitely recommend it!

Large portioned breakfast at a commercial restaurant, similar feel to Allo! Mon Coco; wouldn't be surprised if it's operated by the same company. Early 2010s modern decor, tightly packed. Expert service by one waitress covering ~15-20 tables. Fine crepes, decent roasted potatoes.

I always wondered what kind of food they served at Universel, as I often walked by on Sainte-Catherine. To my surprise, it's a little fancier than I thought when I looked at the place from the outside. Very interesting menu diversity, you'll have the choice between Canadian, American and Italian food (and I think from even more places, but I don't remember).

Really good food, large menu with extensive options, our server was nice too! I got the combo with the eggs and crepe!

Have eaten breakfast here three days in a row and going back for a fourth tomorrow and getting sandwiches to go for travel. Everything we ate was delicious- crepes, omelettes, vegan. Friendly and helpful waitress and support staff. Kitchen staff already prepared to make our sandwiches to go tomorrow morning for us. Plenty of seating even on a very busy Sunday morning. Wish we lived closer to here.

Was promptly seated around 9:40, lots of people but no wait which was nice . The menu is super extensive . I ordered the montreal benedict and it was good , fruit was okay , not cold and some wasn't ripe but the hot portion of the breakfast was amazing , potatoes so good - hollandaise sauce was yum. Freshly squeezed orange juice was perfect . If I didn't have to work i would have tried the mimosas they looked good. All in all a pleasant experience , can't wait to come back .

Stopped in for an early supper. Omelette with mushrooms and Brie. And the best latte I have enjoyed in years! Attentive friendly service too!

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.

I stayed there recently, and on the morning of my check-out I received a phone call with devastating news about a life-threatening medical emergency in my immediate family. I was on the phone trying to resolve the problem with Emergency Room doctors and lost track of the time. When I received a call from the hotel management to inform me that I had overstayed my time in the room, I raced at lightening speed to clear out of the room. Minutes later, I cleared out of the room, which I left immaculate and ready to be sold to another guest. I departed the room well before the 4pm check-in time for new guests; I checked out just 2 hours late (literally it was 2 hours). They nonetheless slapped me with a $60 fine for this very small, very human error. It was one of the worst days of my life, I was in tears and begged them not to charge me. I am also disabled and they not only refused to remove the $60 fine, they also did not help me with my bags when my taxi came, they let me limp and drag my own luggage to the curb. I am beyond shocked at this cruelty and greed, at this utter lack of compassion and inability to relate to a fellow human being as anything other than a cash cow. I will never forget being treated this way when I was in distress. Also the breakfast is terrible and overpriced; the coffee was cold, the fruit was flavorless and dried out, there were few fresh and healthy choices, mostly ultra processed yoghurt and cereals, commercialized white bread. All for $25, way too much in a city with such incredible food. I do not enjoy giving negative reviews, and I tried to resolve this both in person and on the phone subsequently and was met with cold indifference at every turn.
