I needed a pipe leak fixed in a bathroom, repair/replace of kitchen garbage disposal and back flow preventer installed. All fixed and tested before leaving. The guys were courteous, friendly and kept the work area clean. Naturally, they made a few other inspections to see if there were other items they could recommend fixing or installing. In my case, a water heater inspection and recommendation of water softener. Never pushy though. Just said they would quote me. Fine. Overall, a good service and value. read more

They act like they don't need your business. They stood my tenant up TWICE. Said the visit would be free. Finally when the technician was going to show up, after 5 calls and multiple follow ups, he said there was a $69 charge for landlord/tenant visits. When I asked why he said it was for THEIR inconvenience for dealing with landlord/tenants. Just had service performed on my bathroom sink which has a AC runoff. The service tech was good, diagnosed the issue and ran a snake thru the pipes and cleared the blockage. What I'm not sure about was the cost: $375.00 for 30 minutes of work and that included 10 minutes of letting water run to ensure the blockage was cleared. We contacted them because we noticed a persistent wet patch in our yard and suspected an underground leak. Their team came out, assessed the situation, and told us it was a sewer line issue. Based entirely on their professional recommendation, we approved $11,000 in sewer repairs. The problem was never resolved. It turns out the issue we originally called about had nothing to do with the sewer. A later visit identified the actual cause: a leaking sprinkler line. The fix? Capping the line, a quick, simple repair that cost $185 and immediately stopped the wet area. Let that sink in: $11,000 vs. $185. The photos make this even more concerning: * The first image shows the extensive digging done by John Moore to "fix" the sewer line, leaving our yard torn up and in poor condition. * The second and third images show the actual issue weeks after -- a small sprinkler line leak that required minimal work and was resolved in minutes. Even more troubling, we learned after the fact that John Moore does not handle sprinkler systems, yet this possibility was never identified or ruled out before recommending thousands of dollars in repairs. Additionally, during the backfilling process, debris including bricks was thrown into the trench, and our main water line was damaged as a result, creating a flood and further issues When we raised this issue and asked for a resolution, we were ultimately told by Jacob the plumber as well as Yanis and Brice at the customer care, they do not owe us anything. We trusted their expertise and made a major financial decision based on their diagnosis. I called John Moore to send a technician out to check on our air conditioner. the technician "Dylan" came out today and told us our feron was low, but he did not have that specific freon needed to refill it and that it would cost $600 to do so if he did. He didn't say, sir. "I can call around for you," but he told my husband he could call around himself. What HVAC professional doesn't have what he needs to complete the job. He was on the phone most of the time and anyway and left the screws off. Later, my husband inquired about what a new furnace would cost.. He he said $20,000. My husband asked, "do you have a senior discount?" He said I can help you with something he came up with another figure of $14,500. So, Dylan no longer tried to solve the problem at hand he spent the rest of the day trying to get us Finance, but why would he focus on financing if our unit was not broken. We never got the answer to that. It was just a day of wasted time. Dylan acted like he didn't want to be at work anyway. Mr. Valentine talks about caring about the community in his commercials. I have used John Moore for electrical and pipes under the house. If he cared, he wouldn't have sent such Incompetent person who had no resolve to the issue at hand. This employee, I would not hire. I am thinking about contacting the media. I have my 93 year old mom living with me . My husband is 70 and I am 69 year old. We are miserable living in this heat. Just had small 3 ton AC unit need some updated maintenance. I called John Moore for an estimate. The technician was so friendly and knowledgeable. Great interaction. Then I read the estimate! The estimate sent was for an entire replacement with all of the bells and whistles. They quoted me just around $19K, $16K of that was for the AC unit. When I asked if they could shave off some of the options to make it more cost effective. They later sent me one where the unit itself was $25K then they had some line items that were manager approved "discounts" but the new total was even more that the original quote! They seemed extremely overpriced and just over kill for solving the problem. ranging from $3,500 for a non-guaranteed repair to just about $25K with "discounts" that lowered it to $19K. This seems way off. I received a competitive quote the same day from a smaller business, and it was a fourth of the cost and they had the same guarantee. Make sure to shop around these big box shops AC units seem to be more of a competitive area where smaller businesses will guarantee work and parts standard. It seems like John Moore has good people who are forced to up sell anyone they quote from something reasonable to the price of a major overhaul. I am so glad I shopped it around. read more

Had the inspection for my ac unit last month$45. The next month the ac stops cooling and the thermostats won't go below 71. I did not have this problem before. Scheduled a service the next month and the technician was 4 hours late. Charged me before he did the work and said it was too late to use my coupon. AC is still not cooling below 71. Don't use them. Our AC stopped working and we called John More mainly because of their commercials. They determined that the issue was low refrigernat and offered to find the leak for $890. After about 20 minutes, they were able to show us a picture of the leak on the Fan Coil. They stopped checking at that point. That is over $2500 / hour. They told us that at a minimum we would need to replace the Fan Coil and Condensor Unit and gave a quote for $17,000. After that, we obviousely got a few other quotes which were half and included two stage condensors. We should have checked reviews before calling. Service was timely; however, the pricing was high, and I should have known better. I was given two prices for an issue with my toilet not running at times. The prices were $399 and $699, both with a 2-year warranty. The lower price did not replace as many parts, and the second price replaced more parts. I opted for the higher price, but more than likely should have taken the first price. I didn't inquire about a senior discount and don't know if it was available. I signed up for the $99 Service contract for my hvac system on June 19. I had a 10-2 window on saturday. They didnt show I called and told them i understand things happen. I said I do want to be a first appointment of the day on my next window and they assured me they would put the notes on the account. The window was 8-12. At 10 am i called, they didnt know what happened but the notes were on the account I rescheduled and didnt even ask for first appointment but they said I would be 8 am. i was home, i checked my texts at 845, saw i had a text at 839 asking me to confirm my appointment immediately followed by a text that said they made multiple attempts to confirm my appointment and that my appointment was on hold....i called immediately and said i got one text and that text was followed up with another text ( no time on that one because it was immediate) l, and they told me i would have the next avaialable technician. couldnt tell me when. I had an appointment based on them being there 8am so i said forget it, i want to cancel the contract, and rhey said someone from that department would call me back. needless to say i hadnt heard so i called at 130. i was told they are working on all the cancellation requests in order and couldnt tell me when i would hear back. i asked why are so many people cancelling the service contract. No answer....so all they did was take money...missed every other thing includng cancelling. i disputed charge with my credit card company and was issued a credit. In September 2026 JohnMoore service company installed a new HVAC system which included Trane air conditioners. We also became members of their VIP program that offers a free AC check and heater check in the spring and fall, respectively. Our first spring AC check was on April 1, 2026. We did not expect to have any repair costs because it was a brand new system, installed by JohnMoore. However, there are 4 filters that were replaced. Our bill totaled over $1500. We were shocked. I looked on Amazon prime for the cost of the exact filters that were installed. The cost was $200 ($50 per filter). I questioned the total of our invoice and asked for a breakout of what we were charged. For example, how much was charged for the installation of the filters and how much was charged for the filters themselves. The customer service representative I spoke with, Monet, did not have as friendly a customer attitude, compared to that of the sales team, service techs and the installation team. She informed me that she could not give me a breakout of what we were charged. However, she did give us a credit of approximately $459. So we paid ~$1,000 for the installation of four filters which cost a total of $200, making the service fee $800. Every other service company we deal with provides a breakout of labor and parts. This experience makes me question John Moore's service practices. I hope the owners of JohnMoore read this and make improvements in their customer service, including providing their customers with a breakout of costs. read more

JOHN MOORE Services are a complete rip off!!! My ac went out Wednesday and I called for them to come out Thursday to diagnosis and possibly fix it. They quoted my guy $2,429.99 stating it is the capacitor and fan motor. This lying tech half way put a capacitor on supposedly isolating , yet he did not attach all of the wires, so of course nothing would work. My guy took a pic of it,when the tech went to the truck, and texted me showing how the tech was trying to get over on us. The tech called me quoting all these different rates and I said no thank you. So my guy said he'd call some ppl he knew. Long story short my guy went and bought both parts and he and I decided to repair it. So, Saturday morning we are out there at 8 am and decided change the capacitor first....and guess what?!!!!! THE AC STARTED!!!! They came out for a free diagnoses, 870.00 later they said I had roots in my drain line and would have to dig under the slab and replace it. estimate 5-6 thousand dollars. 11,000 dollars later I have running drains. I am retired and am on a fixed income. They had convenient financing for 18 years. i feel foolish, please don't fall for their false advertising. I never saw the same person twice. John Moore is a scam. The technician, named Troy Bolden came and inspect the air-duct system and air vents for cleaning air duct for AC system and repairing the sealing on air vents. He quoted $1,630 for the whole system including cleaning and repair. The next day, the service technician came and said that their scope of work is only cleaning. They can reach out to all the air vents except one at very high ceiling. They asked me to call back to office for a discount. Normally, the cost of air duct cleaning is around $500 to max $1,000 for big house (more that 3000 sqt house). This is the first time I used John Moore services. On their website, they hinted that the review rating is 9.5 our of 10. I don't think it is true. So, be very careful with the scam. read more

Instead of just fixing the broken flange, they unnecessarily "upsold" her not only on a new toilet but also a new porcelain toilet (vs. the plastic toilet she had). The end result was a $2,600 charge for what should have been well less than $500. Blatant taking advantage of an elderly person. Called John Moore to complain 3 times. I won't recommend John Moore. I called for dish washer clog, was informed the garbage disposal needs to be replaced. The 1/2 HP garbage disposal is only 120.00 and to replace it through them was going to be a 900.00 bill. I refused to pay this high overhead charge and now buy it myself through Lowe's and having a simple contractor install it for 200. Technician that came out from John Moore was great friendly, knowledgeable but I'm refusing to use them for any projects that come up. They didn't even look at my clogged kitchen sink before they had removed part of my ceiling below the bathroom?? and wanted $7700 to do a lot of unnecessary work replacing pipes that were working just fine. After some discussion they backed down to $3600 to replace just one 12 foot section of PVC under the kitchen sink. A section that they had already cut into without my permission to start any work! Booking was easy and the tech arrived right on time for the appointment. One star rating is because I believe they are very misleading and potentially scammers. Had a call over for a broken furnace. Tarek Janbay who was the technician sent over opened the furnace and recommended replacing a circuit board and blower. Total price $5K. But said really I should replace the whole unit for $8K. Keep in mind this is only a 4 year old unit so was very surprised the defect was that severe. Funny thing was the pricing for this repair was the same with or without warranty for parts from the manufacturer meaning he was charging me $5K for labor. I know technician rates are high but at that rate I need to take some classes and get into this business. Well I called a second company over for a second opinion and they stated the issue was just with some debris build up in the pressure switch tubes. Blew them out and got the unit fixed for only $150. My ac quit working so I called John Moore Services. Alvaro found the part I needed in my air handler. The repair quote was over $2700 but since the unit was less than 5 years old he said it was under parts warranty and I'd only be charged for labor. (I did not own house when the unit was purchased and I found no information on who originally did the work). Anyway the "labor" charge would be half of the $2700 so it was just over $1350. Alvaro came back with the part the next morning and replaced in 20 minutes and all is now working. I found the part on internet and it was in the $150 range. So bottom line is I was charged $1350 for about 1.5 hours onsite and maybe about 3 hours of travel for both trips. Do the math and if you charge travel at full rate, I paid about $300 per hour. The way I understand this industry, the techs are given the leeway to charge as much as they believe they can get. Big sell for cleaning ducts, installing surge suppressors etc. I don't personally believe this is ethical and they apparently don't care about winning a permanent customer. I would not use them again because I'm looking for a vendor that doesn't lie and bullshit and upfront tells you an hourly rate. Most people shudder at $200 an hour but when I hear that at least I understand what I'm getting. read more
