I had Ruben (a guy with knee problem and a limp) come over to check a condo HVAC. He suggested a takedown of the entire system from the ceiling to determine if there was a Freon leak (found none, but charged me $500 without a receipt). He then proceeded to the roof (where the compressor is) and determined that the capacitor is bad (changed). He also said that there is a leak, as the Freon was empty. We had set the next day for his next visit to fill the system with Freon and add a dye (a leak detector), but did not show up after multiple calls. Got a different company for a recheck. The Freon was full, and there was a fuse removal/disconnect (in the control box next to the compressor) that was obviously done by Ruben (no one touched the system since the original installation). And guess what: the system fired up once the fuse was connected, and started cooling like a charm. In summary: Ruben obviously tampered with the power supply to make it look as if the system was dead. There was no need for take down of the coil cover to check for leaks, there was no leak, and the Freon was full. The guy is a liar and a fraud. Don't let him get close to your house. If there was an option for negative stars, I would give him - minus 10. read more

Have a regular guy. Great guy. But he was getting to the point of "I've kept your 17yo American Standard (Trane) running long enough and it's getting time for you to buy another $$$$$ AC system." I didn't want to buy another $$$$$ AC system - at least not yet. Ruben from CES came out, sized up the AC, potential issues, offered alternative fixes, offered a competitively priced new AC if I wanted to go that route., spent an hour and change sitting down and going through all the options. Eventually settled on what we hope will be a fix - at a very, very reasonable cost - that lasts through the summer so I have time to chew on a new system install next spring. I have always found that the best way to deal with a problem is to find someone who knows what they are doing and let them do it. These folks clearly know what they are doing. I recently had called another (big name national) company because my AC system in my Houston home wasn't cooling properly. I was told that the 10-year-old system needed to be replaced at a 5-figure cost ("We don't fix systems this old"). I called "Complete Efficiency Systems" after finding them on Yelp and seeing the high rating. They were here within hours, diagnosed the problem, and fixed the system for about $500, or less than 1/20th of the other guys estimate. And I prefer dealing with a small local firm rather than an anonymous national behemoth. I will call them for the next problem, and will probably let them replace the unit when it becomes unavoidable (hopefully several years from now). Two thumbs up from me. read more

I called and explained what was going on with my AC unit. Ruben sent a technician to my house within an hour. The tech, Brandon, assessed the unit and told me the blower motor needed replacing. He worked diligently to remove the old motor and put in the new one. Brandon's customer service and manners are impeccable. If I could give this pathetic poor excuse of a human a zero star I would . Ruben not only had day labor workers which he might have found at Home Depot that looked like they had NO experience but skinny enough to fit in my attic. To totally botched my air conditioning unit . He suckered his way in by acting like he was doing paid service for the low price gimmick. Sold us a unit that was way too small for our house. Then didn't properly install the unit! The unit was propped up on a piece of wood. Which eventually leaked and damaged my ceiling and cause mold . Asked him to come and see if he could fix the mess HE created installing the unit. He wanted an outrages amount of money!! To fix what he did!! He's a ball face liar ! Oh while we paid him good money to do a good job, he was worried about an old beer can he found in my attic! Didn't ask if he could have the beer can and just took it !! Ruben replaced my HVAC in July 2024. He is very responsive and punctual. He is also very knowledgeable and seems genuine. He quickly diagnosed the problem with my old unit and was able to replace the condenser and air handler the following day, once we determined the old unit could not be repaired. He and his team are extremely hard working. The elevator in my building was not working at the time so he and his guys had to carry the units up 5 flights of stairs in the heat (my condenser is on the roof of the building). They never complained. He installed quality units (Trane) and took the time to help me register the units to get 10 year warranty. The work these guys did is top notch. The team was respectful, efficient, and hard working. They even tried to avoid making a mess, laid down cloth for high traffic areas, and wore boot covers. The new air ducts have a lot of support, are elevated as they should be, and they diligently made sure that the air handler had no leaks. I called on a Tuesday to get a quote for some pretty extensive work. Ruben came the next day, and we managed to schedule for that Friday. I had my condenser unit and evaporator coil switched out at extremely fair price (had 7 estimates in total) and they were able to get the job done in such short notice. I started having AC issues on a Sunday afternoon, in July. I placed a phone call @5:30PM, expecting to get an answering service, and promises that someone might respond in a day or two. Instead, I got Ruben, who said he was on a call, but that he could head my way shortly. About 2 hours later, he arrived, and got my AC to "limp along" until Monday morning, when he could return and completely address the real issue. Monday morning, he shows up, and completes the job (at a reasonable price). This was a much better overall experience than what I have had with the large (plumbing/HVAC) service companies in the area. A small business, that seems to understand customer service, and take pride in their work! I hope that I don't need their services any time soon, but if I do, I know who I'm calling! read more

My AC went out around 5PM on a Friday, (cinco de Mayo day) and the first hot day before summer hits. I randomly looked up this place bc it's close to my house and Rueben answered within the first call. He came out within 40 mins (would have been sooner if I didn't catch him already leaving the shop). He was professional, did his diagnoses, explained what is needed and cost. No pressure like some sales people are. After replacing a capacitor, checking lines, going up and down the attic and outside multiple times, added Freon and a sealant. I've been using Ruben these last several years and I've always been satisfied with the honestly and quality of work Ruben and his team provides. He installed a brand new unit in my newly built garage apartment in 2022 and took his time to explain the whole process and helped me select the right unit for the apartment. On a very hot Saturday night in August we realized there was a leak coming through the ceiling of our young son's room. A quick look in the attic identified the AC as the source. My husband called Complete Efficiency and within an hour Ruben arrived to take a look (around 10pm). He was very courteous and knowledgeable and after taking a look identified the problem. He also took photos inside the ceiling of the problem to help us better understand what was going on. Ruben returned the next day with a colleague to fix the issue and we were back up in running in under an hour, despite the scorching hot temperatures in our attic. We have an older unit, so ended up signing up for Complete Efficiency's Preventative Maintenance program, which we think will definitely extend the overall life of our (until now!) somewhat neglected unit. For me, transparency and Integrity are major factors when I hire a company to work on my home. Complete Efficiency Systems is a real winner. Our A/C stopped cooling and we had two different companies diagnose it, each telling us we needed to replace it. I received several estimates and decided to meet with 2 companies. Ruben from CES was not only the most responsive and accessible, he was the only one that was willing to exhaustively explore and explain all of my options all of my ideas,questions, and options for the system. He was confident and professional, giving honest opinions regardless of how it affected the total price. At no time did I ever felt like he was trying to "Sell" me, but rather that he genuinely wanted to help arrive at a solution that was truly the best for me. In the end, he diagnosed the problem and determined that it was indeed a leak of refrigerant, but rather than replacing the coil and condenser, that we owned a commercial unit (never mentioned by the other guys who were quoting me $18K-$24K for a new 5 ton system) and that it was probably wiser to fix the Freon leak and see how long that will hold us. He even recommended our next steps if it failed again.
