This is an exceptional Air Conditioning company with an exceptional staff and service. Jason came to our home exactly on time to check our Echobee Thermostat and recalibrate it to set up the correct Temperatures and Humidity because it was sending messages of possible problems with our AC system. However, after checking our AC system and completing preventing maintenance for a really fair fee, Jason concluded that our AC system is in very good condition and it was more Thermostat wrong messaging than the AC system itself. My wife and I were extremely appreciated and happy Jason's professionalism as AC Technician and most of all for his/their honestly. I rarely write reviews, but this situation is a must. Richmond Air installed my new HVAC for my garage recently and had the best price for the product and skilled install which is critical for performance. As a matter of fact there was a misunderstanding in the quote as I thought it included new ducts, but it did not. But James replaced for free due to the misunderstanding on my part. He did not have to do that because it was my mistake in communication. Prior to that I had 2 other hvac systems installed by another company. So I called that company that did the install to repair one. Within hours of repairing one hvac, the other failed. So I had to wait over the weekend for them to return to fix the hvac and on Monday my schedule. Then I decided to use Richmond Air for the repair. I only would be at my house from 8:30 to 10am due to a departing flight. I called Richmond Air at 7:30 AM on Monday to see if they could send someone to my house within the hour. The owner, James showed up with a staff member. So the other company's staff accidentally let out my Freon. James called the company and explained the mistake for me and arranged for them to replace my Freon for free. That is honestly and great customer service. He could have replaced the Freon and charged me, which is expensive and let me figure out the situation with the other company. So that deserves my business and yours. Will start by saying I'm an engineer who works in the project management space and was working to update an aged system in a 60's home. As I was bidding this work I sent my buyer inspection report and some information I'd built out from a personal scan of my house. Richmond responded the day of posting, came out the following morning having already read the report, and was able to discuss details indicating they looked at the pictures in the project file and were analyzing the work required. They provided a number of options but weren't pushy with any of them. Ended up using them to replace a large portion of the existing system including a failing and aging ducting system. They were communicative, timely, and completed the work in a day. They were able to troubleshoot and find ideal location for a return air vent on my first floor working through really tight crawl spaces . Interactions starting with James at the bid walk down all the way through handover with Chris who was an amazing installation lead were all great. Absolutely recommend!!! I rarely do reviews that aren't restaurants but Richmond's Air was so great I think it's important that people know what the experience is like. First: Competitors I got several estimates - My home warranty's contractor, Home Depot/ARS, a friend's husband, and Richmond's Air. Richmond's Air was the most reasonable price among all estimates, even the friend! He also took less than 30 minutes to take a look and give me an estimate. Home Depot was here for hours and gave me a presentation and ultimately an unbelievably high price which they later slashed by $4k when I said I wouldn't choose them. Still too high, also weird that they were gonna charge $4k extra? Second: Communication/Punctuality James told me a reasonable window of time that the team would arrive and also when they'd complete the job. They gave me a call beforehand to let me know they were running a little late, regardless the job was done on time (same day). They replaced everything but my furnace. Finally: Service The team was friendly and explained anything I asked about and even helped me install my new thermostat. They put a drop cloth down from the front door to the AC and left minimal dust or mess. They also gave me the manuals for the equipment as well as told me about the 10 year warranty. This was all a month ago and my AC has been working perfectly since and air quality reads way cleaner than when I moved in. Dealing with a broken AC in Houston is horrible and I highly recommend reaching out to Richmond's Air instead of wasting time shopping for multiple other quotes. My journey with Richmond's Air first started in September 2023, knowing that my AC unit was 12 years old and hadn't had a tune-up for at least as long as I've lived here. James with Richmond's Air promptly came out and ran diagnostics. He noted that the evaporator coil had a minor leak, but offered to refill the Freon to improve the efficiency and keep it running. He did mention that I was running on borrowed time however, since this unit was likely nearing its end of life, and that I should plan to replace it in the near future. Fast forward to April 2025. My AC unit is now 14 years old. Coming home one night, I noticed that the thermostat read 81°, which was out of the ordinary for this time of day. I manually set my Ecobee to 77° to cool it down. A few hours later, the house still had not cooled itself down, so I went outside to check the unit and noticed cold air blowing out. A quick Google search informed me that there was something up with the unit. I quickly changed out my AC filters hoping this would be the fix, but unfortunately it was not. I reached out to Richmond's Air the following morning and they offered to come out the same day. James showed up in a few hours and immediately ran his diagnostics and found that the Freon level had dropped to almost empty. He mentioned that this was probably the same leak found in 2023, and explained to me my options. I could have him refill the Freon (temporary fix), replace the evaporator coil (would have to replace this again if the compressor fails), or completely overhaul the unit (most costly option). Option #2 didn't seem reasonable for the long term and my checkbook wasn't ready to replace the whole unit, so I went with the band-aid fix, knowing that I'd run my unit to failure (hopefully through another summer!). James once again kindly refilled the Freon back up to full. Got cold air again, thank goodness! Two days later, the same issue presented itself. Woke up from an afternoon nap and noticed the house being warm, showing 80°. I set it down to 76° and left to run an errand. Upon returning an hour later, I noticed that the house was still at 80°. Ran outside to check the unit and once again, it was blowing out cold air. Third time was unfortunately not the charm. I reached out to Richmond's Air once again and they promised to be here first thing in the morning. James once again came out and found that the Freon pressure was even lower than the previous visit. The leak had either worsened or the unit was on its last leg and not able to keep up with the Freon. I finally agreed to get the unit replaced. James informed me that this comes with a 10-year labor and parts warranty for peace of mind. Richmond's Air was completely booked until the following day, so I got on the scheduled and James graciously refilled my Freon once again to get us through the rest of the day and so that we could sleep in a cool house at night. On the day of my scheduled service, Alex called me when the crew was on the way, and they showed up right on time. They pulled up in their large trucks and vehicles and knew exactly what needed to be done. As the crew showed up, they introduced themselves to me and got right to work. That is top notch customer service! The crew immediately pulled out my existing outdoor unit as well as my evaporator coil in the attic. They placed blue plastic throughout the house so as not to dirty up the floors walking back and forth. The old unit was out the door within 30 minutes. Throughout the process, Alex kept me informed on status and was extremely professional. She had to head over to the next job while the rest of the crew was working, so walked me through payment options: either pay with her in-person before she left or pay over the phone once the crew completed the work. I went ahead and paid her in person and she was very courteous and explained to me the remaining steps of the process. The crew finished the full replacement within 2.5 hours, pressure-checked the copper lines going into the house to verify no leaks, and ensured that the unit was running as designed. They even installed a dedicated surge protector on the AC unit itself. Excellent QC right there. Afterwards, they cleaned up everything inside the house, up in the attic, and in the area of the outdoor unit. Everything looked pristine, as if they were never there. Before they took off, the crew answered all of my questions and told me that I could give them a call should anything else come up. I am now writing this review as I sit in my COLD house with a brand new unit and a much greater appreciation for a working AC unit. I hope this unit will last me another 12+ years, but at the very least look forward to a lower electricity bill from a more efficient unit. She was extremely thorough with her inspection both visually and objectively. They were able to get me an appointment in just two days. Nothing but great things to say about Richmond's Air. It started with their tech Cedric Amos. Very knowledgeable, there wasn't a question he couldn't answer. He came out in some unbearable heat and diagnosed my problem within a 1/2 hour. He worked up four options for a solution to my problem. I chose option 4 as my furnace was 30 years old and it just made sense to have the a/c and furnace taken care of at the same time. Cedric worked out a payment plan with me that was ideal for my situation, I'm retired. My AC was out and it's 95 outside. Cedric called me later that afternoon and said "We can do it in 2 hours." At 3:00 in the afternoon 3 vans with a crew of 6 showed up and went to work. Their tenacity of getting the work completed and done correctly was amazing. Chris and his crew have a work ethic that was impressive to watch. Three hours later in 95 degree heat the job was completed. They cleaned up and were gone. Someone came out to inspect my HVAC system a few weeks ago from Richmond air through the Centerpoint Cool Savers program and said everything was working great and fine - no comments whatsoever. Now, a couple weeks later I just went up into the attic and noticed rings of mold around all the air ducts as they enter the plenum (which appear to have been there for weeks or months). This is NOT fine and no one mentioned it to me. Richmond's Air is just trying to do the least work possible for Centerpoint to pay them for a job not done. My son is highly allergic to mold and has developed allergic asthma in the last few months, no doubt from this issue. And because of them we've continued to live in it. He told me what he was doing every step of the way and was honest about what needed to be replaced or cleaned and even put the covering that had flown off the roof during a storm a year ago.
