T-Mobile Tuesday paired with Fuel Rewards for Shell...Whooooopp whooooop... I think I live here now!!! Lol. I am at this Gas Station quite often. T-Mobile Tuesday combined with Fuel Rewards is amazing. At this particular Gas Station, I have been able to save in upwards of $.20 per gallon. This gas station is easy to get to; however, not to be confused, because there is like maybe 1 other Shell Gas Station in the area! I prefer this one because it is more affordable than the other. The only thing that was wonky was that I came to the gas station one day, intended to pay with cash and could not because the inside was closed and it was maybe 6:45pmish. I will look at the hours of operation next time I intend to pay cash. I just utilized another form of payment and was still able to get my discount. There are quite a few pumps and I have never had to wait, which is good. The Gas Station is situated on 2 major streets, so you can get to it easily. There is also a garage attached to the gas station. There are always cars for the garage, but its not junky or too clunky. I will be back for sure!!! read more

This is a garage where you can also get your car worked on, which is good cuz you might need that around here considering everything that goes down, in terms of how dangerous Houston roads are. But in any case, the only reason I don't give it five stars is because the gas prices aren't as cheap as other parts of the city. They sent me an email that they would not accept credit card payments for a car this old 2008 with this amount of repairs. $3400 they gave me a 5 percent discount for the delays. So recently my inspection sticker was due and I was looking for a place to get my new sticker. I used to get it at either my dealership after an oil change or a place near my dealership but I was not due for an oil change for awhile so I needed to find an inspection place near my home. Yelp always helps me find the best places for car inspection! I used yelp to find one in Austin and I literally waited 15 minutes and paid $25. This time I waited maybe 10 minutes, half the time was trying to decide on a Snapple flavor in the gas station convenience store. It was super fast and painless. The guy was very nice and even helped me untangle my keys as I tried to separate my car and house keys to give to him. It costed me $34.95 because I asked if they had a "$5 coupon" and the gas station attendant just gave it to me without saying anything. I really enjoy the customer service as well as the car service here. I have gotten my oil changed here on multiple occasions. The owner seems to remember me and always asks how I'm doing. I really like it when owners do that, it makes me want to come back! Today, I was a little mischievous and wanted to see if other places were cheaper. I went to Jiffy Lube, $37 and Eric's Car Care and Lube, $32.99. I thought that was pretty expensive so I returned to shell. It was $24.99 with a $3 shop fee? The total was $30 and change. I'm ok with that, it's better then $37, geez! I always enjoy sitting in the plastic chairs outside of the convenient store and watch all of the cars go by while I wait. We have been using this car workshop since we moved to this neighborhood due to the great Yelpers reviews. So far have been pleased with them until today. The last car repair experience was not a pleasant one. My car was stalled a week ago and it won't start the engine. At first we thought it was dead battery and have auto rescue to jump start it but they said it was not the battery problem. So, we have to call toll truck to drop off our car to this workshop. They said the fuel pump was not working after their diagnosis and total cost of this repair is $804. We collected our car on Tuesday and guess what happened? My car is stalled again just after 2 days on Thursday on my way to pick up my daughter from school. At first, we wanted to toll back to their workshop since they didn't fix it! However, we have lost faith in them as they might come back with another wrong diagnosis and more cost incurred. We decided to have toll truck to drop off to our car dealership service center instead. We definitely will not send our car there to repair but perhaps routine maintenance and state inspection since they are in our neighborhood. Not happy! read more

I woke up early on a Sunday morning and decided to be productive, so I used Yelp to find a vehicle inspection station and called to confirm their hours. The owner(?) picked up and said that if I made it there in the next 20-30 minutes, he would take care of it for me. I thought that was an oddly specific timeframe, but I was already up and why not? It turns out that they don't typically do inspections on Sundays but since he was waiting for his cashier to come relieve him at 10 AM, he squeezed me in. Daddy had always taken care of car inspections before (I just moved out on my own for the first time), so I didn't really know what to expect but it was very quick and painless and he was super friendly. I really appreciated it! It took 25 minutes from the time I called to the time I drove out of the service center. Will definitely come back here for future car maintenance needs. read more

I asked them only the oil change service. As always, they found 10 other things that were leaking/low level, etc. They say it's a courtesy to check your vehicle and make sure everything is all right. My battery level was low, they suggested to change it which I accepted. Once I got my car back, when moving it I heard a strange noise coming from the front tire. I brought my car back to the auto repair and they couldn't fix it. They said that I had to bring it back for a 1.5h check. I brought the car back and after 5 h .. they found even more things that were leaking/not working properly but couldn't fix the noise. I think It's highly unprofessional of them to cause more problems and not be able to fix them. I was there just for oil change, had to go to the store 3 times, and now I have a white noise sound keeping me company. I will never go back. Please avoid this auto repair. read more

Also had tire pressure addressed (included) - they let me know I had a nail, offered to fix for $18, I told them I had warranty somewhere else, they said no problem and just put air in it. My small SUV falls into their car category. Everyone was nice. Close to work. 15% UH, Rice and Baylor student and faculty discount. I went for the State Inspection yesterday. The front lady told me that the brake pad was thin and could not pass the inspection. (I know my car's brake works very functional, and I do the regular maintenance at another my friend's car repair shop). I never heard/experienced that the brake working well and just the pad is thin that could not pass the inspection! After a while, she sent me a list of what I need to replace or change, such as front/rear brake rotor/pad, brake fluid, gas tank gasket... total costs $1900. I finally realized that she/technician is not happy that you spent only $25 + tax for the inspection. They want more!!! more money from you for the repairing, then she would issue your inspection pass!! If you have enough money to feed this shop "appetite", you can go. Otherwise please do not go to this shop. This time, I paid $25 + tax for the failed inspection. (I used to come to this shop for the small errands for my three cars. It looks like the owner changed.) Now the shop loses the customer like me forever. I would never go to that shop again. read more

Woman traveling with just my daughter for her cancer treatment on a Sunday and the car picked up a huge concrete shard in the tire. Unrepairable. They were able to close my car up in the garage so I didn't worry. The NEXT day, the put on the pair of matching tires I wanted. Communication was excellent through the estimate and service. If you are at the medical center and need anything car-wise, ask them first. The owners are sharp and CUSTOMER SERVICE oriented. I just had to get my car inspected, and this placed is close to where I live, so I went by this afternoon. My car has problems and my inspection failed (that's another story), but the process was fast and the people working both inside the convenience store and in the garage were very attentive and helpful and super nice. I'm not sure if this is store policy or just them being kind because I know very little about cars, but they told me that if I bring my car back in 15 days and it passes inspection, then I don't have to pay for that inspection, only the one I got today. Overall great experience here. There's no indoor waiting (unless you want to browse around the convenience store for 15-20 minutes, but there's a Whataburger and McDonald's across the street so if you really can't stand to wait outside, you have options. read more

The first place i took my car to wanted over $1500.00 to fix it, for parts and labor. So i postponed the work and eventually came here to the Shell station. Joe, the mechanic fixed it for $230.00. So not only did i save over a thousand dollars by coming here, I now know to avoid the other place. I don't think I'll ever use any other mechanic. Oh, AND they drove me home when i dropped it off and then at the end of the day they drove back to my place and picked me back up! Fair and reasonable prices and they do exactly what they say they will do. No surprises. Courteous, professional. I think I'll start buying my gas from here also. We hear about bad businesses all the time, when we discover a well run business with decent prices we should support that business. This is a horrible place, they are so dishonest, do not go there if you have any issues with your car or if you want your car inspected, or for anything. First time I went there I needed to change a light bulb on my back-lights, the Asian looking woman told me it would cost $108 and requires 2 hours labor. I went to another station, they did it for $10!!! in 5 minutes! Second time I went for my car state inspection, they made me pay immediately the fee $25, then they asked for SO many repairs on my almost new car that visits the dealership frequently, the total they asked for if they do the repairs and parts was above $100, I took my car to the dealership, there was NOTHING wrong with it, no parts needed or anything. I ended up paying again for the inspection there because I did not ant to see these mean people in the shell station and deal with their greediness. Just don't go there, this is a bad business and they will rip you off read more

Got my oil changed here. The guys were very friendly and helpful considering I had my two kids (ages 3 and under) w me. We recently moved, so they switched out my license plate for me too, which was really nice. The only inconvenience w this service station is that they don't have a waiting room and the convenience store is TINY. I didn't want to wait outside in the Houston heat, so we were cramped inside w my double stroller waiting for about an hour. This place is great for quick maintenance issues, but I'd be sure to arrange for a ride if you have to wait longer bc it can get uncomfortable pretty fast!! read more

This is actually my second time getting my car serviced here, the first was to get my inspection sticker and an oil change, and they do a great job. Always quick and thorough and the service is above satisfactory. The biggest plus is that its only $30 for the oil change, no gimmicks. I visited this location to have my oil changed. About a week later the low oil pressure light in my car popped back on... I thought that was strange seeing as I had just had my oil changed. My husband goes to check the oil in my car and to see whether or not my car was leaking oil. To our surprise, after my husband drained the oil, there was NO SIGN of a leak, there was barely any oil in my car and the oil that was in my car was very dirty! I went back to this location just to simply ask for a refund because clearly the services were not performed. I was told that I was a liar and that if they were to put my car on a lift that oil would come out... of course it would, my husband put oil in my car where these employees did not. I would not recommend this location. I will be considering legal action. I ONLY gave one star because I didn't have a choice. read more

Most of the time they will stereotype me as a female and try and up sell whatever they can and make me feel like an idiot because i don't bite. However this shell here in west u is different. I came in for my state inspection knowing i had split wind shield wipers and foggy headlights in which i was told i wouldn't pass with at other shops when the time came. i went over there as a walkin and they wasted no time getting it done right in front of me without mentioning all the easy up sells on my car. i appreciate just the honest business and it was the cheapest inspection I've had - only 25 dollars opposed to getting ripped off elsewhere for 35. I have used this place several times for state inspections and it never takes more than 20-25 minutes, even when they have people in front of me. It's very convenient as I work in the medical center and can run by after work. They do not have an office or anything where you can wait, just some plastic lawn chairs outside the convenience store and one chair inside by the coffee machines. Unlike the pricier, more detailed state inspection places, they don't check ANYTHING other than the mandatory stuff. Most other places will tell you if you're low on fluids or if an air filter needs to be replaced. I came in today with less than half a quart of oil in my engine & my oil light was on, and they didn't notice or mention it. read more

My car overheated near the medical center on a Friday afternoon. I managed to pull over to let it cool down and get some water in it. I knew I was about 4 blocks from the Medical Center Shell Station. I've stopped in there many times before, but not for service. However, I noticed they ALWAYS have cars getting service there. And not necessarily nice cars. Anyway, the owner Joe told me that I need two hoses, and radiator flush, plus fluid. I'm thinking "oh man they're gonna stick it to me." I'm gearing up for $500 to $600.00 in my head, because the last time I had service like that I was charged nearly $700.00. I drove out of there for $150.00. That was lower than the price of a tow truck to take it to my mechanic in Katy, who I'm almost sure would have tripled that price. I was out of there in two hours, and my old car drives cooler than ever! I'll be back for more service. read more
