I rarely leave reviews, so this should say a lot. I brought my 2018 Volvo S90 to Eric's Car Care for an A/C diagnostic because the air was blowing hot. I had a scheduled appointment and dropped my car off around 7:00-7:30 a.m. on Friday, yet I didn't get my vehicle back until Monday. I also never received an update call--I had to call them myself. While delays can happen, my real concern is the accuracy and honesty of the information I was given. After their inspection, I was told my vehicle needed a new A/C compressor, condenser, and expansion valve, bringing the total repair cost to $6,411.07, including labor. That is a major expense, so I declined the service and sought a second opinion. I then took my car to Alpine Motor Works, where they identified the actual issue: a leaking Freon valve. They replaced the valve and recharged the A/C system, fully resolving the problem for $205.65 total. There is no reasonable explanation for being told I needed over $6,000 in repairs when the real issue was a minor leak. This feels extremely misleading and unprofessional. I was even encouraged to finance the repair and pay off the balance within 90 days, which now feels even more concerning given how unnecessary those repairs turned out to be. Being given such drastically incorrect information after a diagnostic is unacceptable. Customers rely on shops to provide honest assessments, not inflated repair recommendations. One star is too generous. Eric's Car Care seems friendly up front -- but once something goes wrong, it becomes delays, excuses, and attempted add-on charges. Unfortunately, my experience matches what other reviewers have described. Also, this company has a few unresolved BBB complaints recently. In May 2022, they installed a throttle body on my 2007 Ford Explorer. Shortly afterward, the vehicle began having intermittent stalling, and it has steadily worsened. A throttle body should last 100,000 miles or the life of the vehicle, so this kind of failure this soon after installation is unacceptable. Last week, a second mechanic at a Yelp four-star shop inspected it and said the throttle body was "faulty out of the box" and not a Motorcraft or Original Equipment Supplier part. When I brought the vehicle back to Eric's, they kept it for three full days, then told me "nothing is wrong" and attempted to charge me $125 to "look into it" -- exactly the kind of delay and added fees others have warned about. The manager blamed the delay on having only one mechanic and my vehicle being "in line." To make it worse, they claimed the warranty had expired, but when I asked for the signed warranty documentation, they couldn't produce it. If you're going to deny coverage, you should be able to provide the paperwork you say I agreed to. Run -- don't walk -- away from this shop. read more

Found this location via social media. Went in, nice people but things got bad when the repaired my truck doors. Was over charged for the diagnostics. I asked them to replace a missing knob on the driver's door. Instead, they took the knob from the rear passenger door and used it for the drivers door. I guess they thought I wouldn't noticed it. Per my paperwork, said the right passenger back door opens. When I got the truck, it would NOT open. They called the mechanic and he said I needed 2 more wires. We'll, how come they didn't say this before I paid $1k the first time. Ordered the parts, was told it would cost around $150 instead I was charged $450. Rep said it took mechanic 2 hours labor when it only took him 30 minutes to show me what needed to be done prior. Then 2 days later none of my doors would open. This was during Memorial holiday weekend. I called and left voice messages for BOTH locations. As of today May 31st 2025, I have not heard from anybody. We've always taken our vehicles to Key Auto Werks through the years and used Eric's Car Care for vehicle inspections and they had always done a good job. When Key closed and our older Jeep had a problem I brought it into Eric's Car Care. We were very impressed with Yolanda and her keen knowledge of the ABS system and various other automotive parts. Yolanda took her time and explained it thoroughly. We were also very impressed with the Inspection Report which detailed all the issues in addition to providing photos. I've brought many of my vehicles over the last three years to this location. I've had a ton of different work done on different vehicles such as my trucks, jeep and Camaro. I'll start by saying they are usually great at diagnosing and fixing issues that actually exist. But that for me is where it ends. Every time I go there for a specific problem I'm told 4 or 5 different problems need to be addressed immediately. Some times I've agreed and completed everything they've suggested (totaling nearly $6k for my Camaro one visit), and others putting a couple things off because I didn't necessarily agree but didn't have another mechanic to compare and quote. The last visit with my jeep was the last visit for me at Eric's. Went in to get some codes fixed, expecting to pay $700-800 at worst and be on my way. Was later quoted for $5,900 for suspension work completely irrelevant to what my reason for the visit required. I ended up staying for the cabin filter replacement and pulled my car to another mechanic (that i finally found from a reputable source) and was quoted nearly half the price for the the same amount of work to be done. Car problems make it extremely hard to check around for quotes, different locations, etc. It's convenient to go to the spot down the road - especially when you can't drive your car or need it towed. But the last visit was just such a ridiculously high quote for things I didn't come in asking to check and it finally made me search elsewhere - and I'm glad I did! Saved myself $2,500 on work. I brought my car here for the first time for an oil change & state inspection a little over 3 weeks ago. Initially, I left feeling satisfied because the price was fair & customer service seemed pretty good. My car is still fairly new & I take very good care of it, so I was skeptical at first. When I got in my car to drive home, I had to adjust the passenger mirror because someone had folded it down, and I fully regret not checking my car before taking off. When I got home, I noticed a scratch along the entire passenger side of my car that definitely was not there prior to bringing it in. Unfortunately, I had to leave the next day to go out of town so I resorted to sending an email with pictures. I received a reply the same day asking for more information because he couldn't find me in their system. I replied & have followed up twice since then with no further response. I was hoping they'd continue the good service & own up to the damage, but I can only assume they either dont care or hope I would forget about it. The splash guard underneath the engine of my car had come partially undone and was dragging on the ground. After another shop, Med Collision Center, attempted to shake me down for $75; I called Eric's Car Care, and they said they could fix it, no problem; how much I asked, no charge I was told. So I went over there and they couldn't have been more helpful, they also looked at an issue on one of my tires and swapped out the spare, again, no charge. Places should realize, as Eric's did, that if you help someone out with a small problem and don't charge, or at least charge a reasonable amount, that person will come back when they have a bigger problem. Very disappointing I haven't had such poor customer service in a long time. How bad was it? The owner's wife hung up on me. I took my vehicle to get a car inspection here, as I like to support small business owners. In order to pass the vehicle inspection test, they said I needed I needed brake fluid changed. I was fine with that. The next week I take my brakes to be repaired at a different chain repair shop. While fixing the brakes, they noticed the brake fluid needed to be changed. What? I got that changed last week. I said, "Are you sure, as I got supposedly got that changed last week. They said, " Yes, we are sure. We have the testing we can show you. We cannot leave, and you can go back to the original shop if you want." I was amazed that Eric's car center didn't complete the job I paid them for. I don't have time to keep going back and forth to shops. When I showed the receipts to the manager, he said he would talk to the owner, as he couldn't make the decision himself. My wife and I have been long-time customers of Eric's but no more. I took my truck in for an oil change and state inspection around 11:30 a.m. and was told it would be around 12:30 p.m. before both could be finished. I said I was fine with that since my wife was picking me up. We had lunch and returned around 1:00 p.m. The oil had been changed, but the inspection hadn't been completed. They apparently have one person "qualified" to do the inspection, and he had gone off for an hour lunch about noon without completing the inspection. He returned late, supposedly having been diverted for some reason to their other shop, about a mile away. The inspection was finally completed about 2:00 p.m. To make matters worse, I had asked for a simple oil change. What they gave me was 5 quarts of Kendall Synthetic Blend for $20.70 plus $13.50 labor, and then without authorization, they added a worthless $19.99 additive package known as BG MOA. Having worked for an oil company, I know that finished motor oils, including synthetics, are already blended with additives such as antioxidants, dispersants, wear additives, and viscosity modifiers. Third-party additives provide little extra value and certainly not enough to double the price. When I discovered the charge on the bill, they refused to take it off, claiming it was standard practice and that the motor oil blend required it. If so, they changed their practice since October 27 when my wife had her oil changed and they used only the synthetic blend oil. Bottom line, Eric's has lost my business forever because of poor customer service and their refusal to refund a $20 unnecessary additive. We've spent hundreds there on various repairs in the past, but I'm sure the owners will be pleased that they made an extra $20 today. read more

I have been taking my car to Eric's for 10 years. At first they were very trustworthy and would not try to upsell me. They have upgraded their systems and suddenly, every time I get an oil change, they find more things wrong with my car. Got a second opinion and only 1/3 of what they were telling me to get done needed to be fixed. When I called to ask if they would just replace a part instead of rebuilding my entire steering system, the new guy basically started arguing with me in a way that offended me. But recently I went there for my car inspection, not sure they changed owner or not, the people were so rude over there and all new faces. 1st time they told me I have to wait for 3 hours due to short staffed so I left and went back on the weekend and make sure went their early morning at 8:30 am but they told me they are already full not accept cars anymore and ask me go another day. Only giving 1 star bc it's required. There was a discrepancy in the repair they did. The service and communication was grossly lacking. I had to go to another mechanic to fix what they messed up. The owner's wife was incredibly rude and unprofessional. CLUELESS to the point of annoyance. I have gone into the shop several times to discuss a refund. Each time they take down my info and tell me he will call me. He never has. And I have witnessed the technician leaving a message for the owner on his voicemail. NO ONE has called me back. The car was left over the weekend and they let water get into the car which fried my new battery and caused electrical issues. They offered no help and took no liability . just left there... they diagnosed my car about a month ago after my check engine light went on for an emissions reason. pretty sure now they didn't know what was going on so they changed something and cleared the light. I'm pretty sure whatever they "fixed" was unnecessary and doneonly to charge me something because a week later my check engine light went on again for no reasons... oh this time it's probably the gas cap is not good... I can come back and they will clear the light, but I had to go get the part from dealership myself and so I did. they cleared the engine light again after putting on my gas cap at no charge for me. Great so far I'm in the hole $350 for the first time they fixed whatever it was they did + $125 for the diagnostic...... I drive the car home and I go to get gas. bing.... the check engine emissions light goes on again. they are so puzzled because they don't effing know what is wrong with my car, well they are gonna have to hook up to the diagnostic computer another $125. then they send me an invoice with their recommendations. $930. I had a $500+ repair for a check engine light problem and Brian intentionally left out the fact that the shop is offering discounts for the service I had worth $100. Most of the 5-star ratings here are about oil change and not actual mechanical repairs. This place has poor technical skill and questionable integrity. I would not recommend it. Hello! My name is Melisa Bonney and I have been trying to get in touch with Bryan the GM for several weeks. To no prevail. I have been dealing with Joshua at the Rice Village location and going from an estimate of $556? To $2075 in repairs is outrages. I have been taking my car to Eric's rice village for several years and the problem started over 6 months ago when I took my car for its Regular oil change and the oil light began coming on regularly. I took it back in the shop and was told that the drain plug was not sealing The oil pan and that they changed it from a titanium to some other metal of something because of the when heating the other one did Not seal properly. Ok, I took my vehicle thinking everything was ok. Few weeks later the oil light comes on again. I take it back they Check it and said that they would need to change the drain plug again if it continues to come on. I took my vehicle again mind you this Is about 30-45 days later. Once again, a few weeks later the oil light came on, I went to Advance Auto to buy oil perhaps it was low. I raise the hood and looking for the dip stick and could not find it, I thought maybe it was underneath the car some vehicles are in different Areas. I asked one of the salespersons to come out and help me find the dip stick he should me where it was supposed to be but it Was not there. I took my vehicle back to Eric's car care and told the sale rep which he remembered me from the numerous of Other visits. So he told me he would order the dip stick and install once it came in. It took a few days to receive once they did I went into The shop and the sales guy put the dip stick stated that he had to get from the Mercedes dealership. Ok I took my car again and once Again the oil light came on so they decided to do something with the oil pan. After that the engine light started to come on so I took It back to the shop and was told that the technician forgot to reset it. I took my car again and not a day later the engine light is back On and I take it back to Eric's Rice Village. Joshua checks the car and tell me my VVT sensor needs to be changed and that it was nothing To do with the issues prior and quoted $562?? To change the VVT sensor him and a technician came out to show me where the VVT sensors Were located on my car. I took my car once again because I did not feel that I should be responsible for something that start from the Show makes repairs and possibly cause the issue with the dip stick out for over a month and the oil continues to drain out oh the car causing Other issues. So called Medical Center store to speak to Bryan I have worked with him before in the past at the Rice Village store. I was Told he was out and that they would take my name and number and have Bryan to give me a call back. I waited for about a week and half and no Call. I decided to call again to the Medical Center store to follow up if my message was given to Bryan. I get a call from Joshua at the Kirby Store and I started explaining to him that I had experienced and what was going on with my vehicle for over 3 months. He told me that he would take another look at the car to determine what would be done to rectify the situation. He asked was the Check engine light still on and I told him yes and that the vehicle is excelling in an aggressive manner that if I did not hold my foot On the break that I could possibly rearend someone. That it is not accelerating over 60 miles per hour at time and then it thrust Forward or backwards. I called him a few days later he stated to bring in and drop off the check and see what was happening. 01-12-2023 I dropped it off this morning and few hours later get a text message with a quote of $2075.00 for repairs. I call Med Center To speak to Bryan and the guy the picked up the phone did not say Hello until her finished his conversation. I said hello and asked to Speak to Bryan, he told me that he was there earlier today but did not believe he was still in the store. I asked if he could check Because I really needed to speak to him regarding the issues with the service from the Kirby location. He put me hold and came Back stating that he did not see hid truck. I asked if he would be there on tomorrow where I could speak to him. He started to tell My that he is the GM and that he is not scheduled at any location and the I should go back to the Kirby store and speak to Josh since He is the person that is familiar with my vehicle issues. I told him that I really needed to speak to Bryan and what would be the best course Of action to contact him was there an email or someone that I could speak to, he continues to rudely talk over me and then said I could email info@ericscarcare and maybe someone would respond. I started coming here years ago mainly for an oil change and an inspection and I find some of the negative reviews about this place very difficult to believe. I've been going here for years and they have never been disrespectful and they've never tried to pitch me into getting services for my car that weren't necessary. If there WAS something wrong, they would physically show me and would explain what I needed and whether it was urgent or if I could wait. They are really honest people and the only downside is that they can get pretty busy on the weekends which is why I try to get there early in the morning. read more

Additionally, they were listed as an approved repair facility with my extended warranty company. They definitely live up to their excellent reputation. The front desk service rep, James, was friendly, helpful, and explained everything they were going to do and kept in contact every step of the way. He even handled all of the communication with my extended warranty company, which was a huge relief. AND he arranged for a LYFT to take me to work so I didn't have to wait around.
