Fair and transparent pricing, and quick work! I went in for routine maintenance on my Avalon that I avoided for way too long. Called and got a quote first for new brake pads (I think it was $185 but can't remember for sure) and then got a quote for brake pads and rotors, which was $450 including labor. But it turns out I put it off for too long and also needed new calipers. He lifted my car up and showed me how they were leaking brake fluid. And this didn't surprise me because I could feel my car was no longer braking. He finished everything during my work day and only charged $1,000. I love Ryle's. He has always been kind, knowledgeable, and open about the condition of my car and the costs of needed repairs. He freely tells me what repairs I need and what repairs I may need/want to do in the future for the health of my vehicle, regardless of whether I choose him to do the work. I have never felt pressured here, or been made to feel bad about the condition of my older 2010 RAV4, or my even older 2003 CRV that he also worked on. I've had my air conditioning repaired, a starter replaced, an alternator replaced, and plenty of free information and advice. I am going in now for a transmission service to have the fluid changed and he told me that I may need the transmission filter replaced. That makes absolute sense to me since it's never been replaced before. A few weeks ago I had stopped by one of those ubiquitous transmission service places just to have the transmission fluid changed. But before they even LOOKED at my car they told me I probably would have to have my transmission replaced. What?!?! Such a scam those places. My new honest mechanic! The check engine light on my car was on and thus wouldn't be able to pass state inspection. I first went to Montrose Automotive Center who charged me more than $100 for a diagnostic and then proceeded to tell me I would need a new catalytic converter and would cost me over $1300. The person I had to talk to was very sales oriented and seemed straight out of a dealership. I didn't trust them so I took my car here to Ryle's for a second opinion. Ryle's gave me a free diagnostic check, fixed my check engine light issue, did my state inspection, and replaced a hose, all for only $150. In fact, Ryle's tried to charge me only $125 but I insisted on increasing it to $150 due to the quality and value of the service. Let's start with the good. None! If we want a silver lining the issue I went in there for is no longer an issue but I have no true idea of what it was. I went in to check to see why my back break lights stayed illuminated and did not turn off. When I walked in he was sitting down in the garage eating and told me he cannot stop eating to right now to help me or even take my name and number for me to leave my car. He told me to wait for him to finish and he would let me know when he was ready. Normally I would have left completely but I did not have the time to take my car all over Houston and the reviews here seemed to be really good so I waited. Once his royal highness was finished with his meal he took my car key and phone number in 30 seconds and I was on my way home in an uber. He could have done that 25 minutes before that. When he called me to tell me what the issue was I did not understand what he was telling me. I also told him that I was a little hard of hearing so I was having trouble making out the issue so I asked if he could text me. He told me he doesnt have time to do that. He also told me and I quote "If you do not understand what I am telling you then thats your problem not mine." I sincerely told him I did not mind paying for the service but I just wanted to understand what needed to be fixed and why. I feel like that is not too much to ask if I am going to pay for a service. He once again reminded me that it is not his problem it is mine. Due to the fact that I had to go to a dinner and also did not want the problem to worsen I just let him fix it. I picked up the car today and he told me again he only knows how to tell me whats wrong and how much it costs and that it is not his problem that I do understand! So I paid the balance and left. I did not converse with him at all or try to explain my frustration or ask for any other explanation. I just paid and left. So I caution you to be very very cautious when visiting this shop. Honestly I would try to avoid it at all costs if other options are available. The gentleman there are rude and there is zero transparency. I have no idea how the reviews are so high with this level of terrible customer service. Please RUN not WALK away from this place! Run as fast as you can! Ryle is really nice. I've been here for an oil change a couple of times and didn't have an issue. I brought my jeep in on a different occasion for an oil leak and had some trouble getting the work done. Ryle could not locate the leak initially, which turned out to be hard to find, but when I brought back a complete diagnostic report from the dealership he said he still needed more information on which exact parts to buy, etc. It seemed as though he didn't have any experience with the specific issue I was having, and while I would've been ok with him just saying that the fact that he told me to ask the dealership those exact questions just gave me a bad vibe. He also mentioned that he will google info on car problems and I should check the forums to see if there was any info there. I had a great experience with Ryle's complete Autocare. My 2018 Nissan Rogue was blowing hot air which isn't great for September in Houston. I had Firestone on Washington look at it and they said I would need a new AC condenser and it was going to be around $1000. I called a few places Montrose Automotive wanted about the same ($500 for part, 330 labor, 280, evac charge). Benson's in Webster quoted lower (around $750) but they couldn't get me in for atleast a week. A few others either wouldn't quote over the phone or didn't call me back. Ryle's was able to get me in right away. I called ahead of time and they said no problem. It is supposed to be a 3 or 4 hour job and they only took 3-4 hours. I dropped it off at 1:30 and had it back by 5 the same day. I ended up paying $580 for the AC Condenser (550 + $30 in Freon). This is a quick, efficient, and inexpensive small business and I will definitely check with them next time I have car trouble. Thanks! read more

Very bad service from this place. Went in for an oil change and he replaces a little gasket where the oil filter go's. It wasn't leaking. Went back an had my catalectic converter replaced and the lower pipe cleaned out where the pieces from the old one had clogged it. Car had low power. One week later the pipe clogged again. Low power. Took it to him and he refused to stand by his work and do it right. Test drives it and says he needs to service my transmission for $275. and that might not fix it. I scheduled an appointment the day before at 10am to change oil, brake rotors and brake fluid. I received a call at 2pm and thought the car is ready, but the mechanic just wanted to confirm what kind of job the needs. I explained again oil, rotors, pads and fluid. I was told the car will be ready in another 2hr and the total is $300 (because I'm a nice guys) which is good price for oil change and brakes (my own parts). This is my only one car and the reason I scheduled 10am appointment to have time to do my errands this day. They promised to finish faster. However it's car repair and you never know how it will go. I showed up without a call in 2.5 hr. Oil was changed Rotors and pads were changed. Brake fluid wasn't, because "it's too expensive and you need two liters of fluid, because you have a lot in the pump‍. But please let me decide to change or not change something. Instead of changing this fluid, they mixed dot3 and dot4(was in the system already). " You can put DOT 4 in place of Dot 3 but not the other way around. " And the price was still the same. They charge $180 to replace your own rotors and pods. Before I was told $120. Not professional at all read more
