I wanted to update my review as MD Automotive has now become my go-to spot for vehicle services. I have now come here for two oil changes and two vehicle inspections and felt very positively about the service I received here, especially since I am not knowledgeable about cars, don't have the tools necessary to work on my own car, and do not have a garage. This also means a lot being a young woman and first time car owner. Every time I've been here, I walked in and the service that I wanted was done within 30 minutes. They have a comfortable waiting room with waters, coffee, armchairs, etc. They also updated me about the state of my vehicle and performed extra services as needed, for instance they filled my tires with air and refilled my windshield wiper fluid (without me asking) and free of charge! MD Automotive goes the extra mile to make sure I can keep on rocking and rolling, and as a relative newbie to Houston and vehicle ownership, they really make me feel like my car is being well taken care of. I cannot speak on the quality of their repair services which I noticed make up most of their poor reviews, but for oil changes and regular service, I will definitely be coming back here! read more

Be warned. I took my car here and got AC worked on. It was cold in Houston so I didn't use my AC u til few days ago and realized it was blowing warm air still. I took the car back and they say it's a different problem than before. Excuse me? They charge $150 for diagnostics that doesn't come off even if you get the work done there. They advertise they provide shuttle service but is not true. The will have no issues driving you home with your vehicle but when time to pick up, they are less than willing and give you a hassel. Unacceptable. DANGEROUS. They had to call me back in because they made a mistake and my brakes were not working properly after they messed it up. I had already stopped driving by the time I got a phone call from them telling me to bring my car back in the next day. My brakes were barely working and I had to FLOOR IT to even stop. He said that was still safe enough and they'll fix it tomorrow. I got charged for a flat tire repair--still flat the day after. Buyer beware: I heard of this auto shop through Discount Tire. DT cross threaded my lug nut and sent me to MD to get it fixed. Since I was already there, I made an appt for today to get my brake pads replaced. Tony, the guy I had spoken to wasn't there. Maybe this wouldn't of happened had he been there. Great guy! Anyway, my quote was 700 for the brake pads, rotors and get this they added "clean rear shoe brakes" for 65. That's a rip-off fee. There's no such thing as cleaning for brakes. Took my vehicle in for a diagnostics because of a check engine light problem. I left it there for them to work on after the results came in and was unable to pick up my vehicle due to travel but they kept my vehicle on sight until i was able to come pick it up.. Amin worked with me as well to ensure that everything was okay and even with the cost. This is something that I appreciated because my previous mechanic was at the Medcenter Citgo and they would overcharge on service and even when they went out of business, they did not bother to inform their customers who had "warranty service". SCAM !!! I got my car diagnosed here I came back several weeks later to do some of the jobs and I was told a completely different price it went from $2,500 way to $4,580 i asked them to re send me my diagnosis again and it was 4 extra things added that was wrong with my car.. I remember printing out my diagnosis so I compared the last one they've sent me with the current one & noticed about 4 more things added that isn't wrong with my car such as alternator and other things ..fast forward I went to two other places for my diagnosis and 60% of what they said here was wrong with my car was very false i only had 3 problems ehich only cost me about $1500 in labor however this place auto md sent me like 9 problems with extremely high prices i don't recommend a diagnostic here they will lie about what you need fixed regarding your vehicle so they can make more money I called and confronted they guy and he proceeds to lie claiming they've made a mistake but only saying that after I stated that I had proof of my other diagnosis Which leads me to know these people are a scam & not to be trusted !!! & If you have a luxury car just go to the luxury dealer mechanics where they won't lie about labor because this place isn't a discounted workshop but definitely a Scam !!! MD Automotive is that shop. I have been pleased with their work on both my car and my husband's car. We've had tire rotations, oil changes and tune-ups and it's always done well. My husband's car inspection was completed in just minutes. They've even fixed a couple of tags and loose screws for free. Never once have they come to me with that "something I've never heard of is leaking" jargon that people are afraid of. They are very honest. After taking my car home from getting all brake pads replaced and having new rear rotors, I noticed that when I was driving on the freeway, my steering wheel would shake when I applied the brakes. I would say I was driving at 70-75 mph when I noticed this shaking. Since it was during the weekend, I waited until Monday to speak with David. I described what happened to him and he told me to go ahead and bring the car back. I paid $85 for my front rotors be resurfaced. So in total it costed me $455. And I've been to the shop 3 times. read more

Do not go here for service, my brake job was not performed properly. They did not turn the rotors with a sharp bit so the rotors where not smooth. The did not lubricate the slide pins either. The results, brakes made a terrible nosie, they even vibrated the front wheels when the brakes where applied. The use cheap pads, not OME...BUT CHARGED ME OME PRICE!! Avoid these guys! read more

My driver side window wouldn't roll up, and I could hear a broken part or rock grating against it in the door, so I dropped my car off before the shop closed. They called me promptly the next day to inform me that the window regulator was broken. Their quote was reasonable based on online estimates, and the window seems to be functioning fine now. We took our Mercedes in for electrical repair and the kept it for over a month and a half. We would drive by and it was never even moved. Finally the called and said the main computer was out and would need to be replaced at a cost of 1200 dollars. So they install the computer and it won't start so now they say the keys have to be programmed to pair up with the computer. Makes sense so we say ok. We'll, the car still won't start. So next he says all the door locks have to be replaced because they are shutting the alarm system off and preventing the car from starting. These are 600 dollars each for all four doors. We ask if he actually knows this will resolve the problem and he says "I think so." Not what you wanna hear. So at this point we decide to cut and run and tell him we will just send a tow truck. He charges us $1200.00! And the car still doesn't run!!! Do what you want to do but in my opinion I would never risk taking a car here again. A real mechanic does not just replace parts till they find the problem. A real mechanic determines what the problem is and then orders the correct part. A reputable shop does not charge $1200 when they fail to repair the problem. In my opinion just find about ANY other mechanic and you'll be better off. read more

This was the worst experience of crooks i have ever seen. I came in with an engine light on and having Car Shield Insurance. This is the place that Car Shield sent me to. But they stated Diagnostics, leak detection pump and a bunch of other lying crap was wrong with my Jaguar. They were trying to charge me up to $2,000 dollars and say that Auto Shield didn`t cover it. After paying it, i later found out two months later that they never even submitted anything to Auto shield. They lied, and Auto Shield isn`t worth spending your money on either. I was very surprised after a routine tire replacement at this Firestone authorized automotive business to find my steering drastically out of alignment. I sent the car back in to the same dealership to get the tires aligned and they charged me $60 to inform me that I needed shock and strut replacement, which would run me somewhere in the thousands to get fixed on my vehicle. After dropping the car off at the dealership however, I discovered that the cause of the alignment problem was a newly replaced tire that was the wrong size for my vehicle. So basically, these guys put the wrong tire on my vehicle, then charged me $60 to tell me that the problem was something else which would be much more costly. Classic mechanic ripoff strategy- create a problem for your customer when you're fixing another one to get repeat business. How do people still get away with this? UPDATE: Since Yelp doesn't allow me to reply to responses, I'm going to include the owner of this business' recent post and the situation as it actually is to this review. After all, it's not very fair that one gets to add in a business owner becoming intent on making multiple, harassing unsolicited personal phone calls to them in an attempt to get one to take down an honest review, but it's kind of pathetic. The "suspension problems" that they discovered, quietly added a thousand dollars to my bill for, and didn't bother contacting me over, according to my local dealership, weren't actually indicated as problems, as according to them and every other mechanic I asked to check out the car, a little leakage is perfectly normal. So, they saw something perfectly normal, put on the wrong size tire, refused to align my car, didn't pass it for inspection due to some vague emissions issue, and charged me 65 bucks to look at, but not do anything to fix, my vehicle. The dealership had zero issues aligning my tires, so the owner's proposed reasoning behind his refusal to align my tires is about as sensible as trying to tell me my indicator lights needed more "blinker fluid". I'm sure anyone reading this review with a modicum of mechanical expertise probably realizes this as well, but since Amin's shop can do no wrong according to Amin, he's either going to edit that additional layer of BS with something else or keep it. After that, the very aggressive owner of this business made a decision to try to contact me via the phone multiple times during this review so that he could argue with me. Amazing how these guys quietly tried to bill me over a thousand bucks without calling to inform me of any problems whatsoever, but they seemed to get right on it with the phone calls the moment someone calls them out on their scamming. Then, Amin the owner decided to share some of the transactional details of my personal transaction with anyone that logs into Yelp without obtaining any consent from me to disclose this information whatsoever. Additionally, he left out a lot of details about this situation that would make his business look even worse from his disclosure of our transactional history. For example: You guys put a tire on that was the wrong size for my vehicle, and according to the local Ford dealership, this caused my other three tires to wear away quickly and need replacement within the month his business put the tire of the wrong size onto my vehicle. I'm led to believe they did this on purpose because of the very aggressive business owner's cherry-picked accounting of events. I wrote this review to inform any potential customers of this business away from the management staff's inability to take on accountability, the immediate attempts to blame a customer for seeing through their scams, and for the same tricks that shady mechanics have been pulling since people started driving. Amin, please do not see this update as impetus to continue to personally harass me by calling my personal phone. I just had the best experience here earlier today. I brought my car in at 16:45 with a nail in one tire and a screw in the other (like for real? Why me?) after finishing my oil change and inspection earlier that day, feeling rather accomplished. I was rather pissed at my given situation and fucking furious on top of that. They close at 18:00 so I wasn't sure they would be able to patch the tires I had, which were slightly used. However, I am lucky to live close and was able to walk him for calm down. I get a call at 18:45 saying my vehicle is ready. 5 minute stroll there I go to pick it up and it turns out there was another nail I didn't notice!! Like what the actual fuck! I went in on a Monday at 7 am to get a huge nail out of my tire before I went into work and they fixed it in under 30 minutes!
