The food at Jing Fong is delicious and very well prepared. We ordered steamed dumplings, shrimp with Old Bay, boneless spare ribs, shrimp fried rice, and shrimp egg foo young. They are our favorite for delivery and takeout for three reasons. First, they accommodate dietary requirements and special requests. Also, we've never had them mess up an order. Last, but not least, their portions are generous - making their food great value for the money. As a takeout place, the only thing I can say about the ambiance is that it's clean and orderly. To be honest, this place makes it hard for me to want to try anywhere else. There aren't a lot of "true" Chinese take out places in Media, but for what it's worth, Jing Fong takes the cake. The food is not spectacular, but from my experience, they are consistent with their food quality; a lot of the dishes taste similar to other above-average Chinese take out establishments. The prices are reasonable, maybe a hair bit expensive, but I think it's worth it. Overall, when you want Chinese take out, you usually want a combination of two things: quality/taste and price. I think Jing Fong has the right mix of both. You won't be blown away, but you won't be disappointed in the quality of the food. read more

Jing Fong is either a hit-or-a-miss. My work, usually orders from here once or twice a month and the only item I really like is their Sesame Chicken. Even with that you are taking a bit of a risk. I can't imagine how unhealthy this place actually is. Everything is greasy or fried. The sesame chicken I usually get is just a thick, goopy orange sauce drenched on top of some fried chicken. Don't get me wrong it's not bad, but you can't taste the chicken. The chicken is really chewy and somewhat hard. I once tried out the fried vegetables and noodles and it was just not good. Portion wise it's pretty small and it you will only have enough food for a medium sized lunch. I have never stopped in before, so I cannot speak on the staff. Altogether, it is not great, but I will definitely keep ordering it from my work. If I'm ever in the area, I may stop in. read more

I bought take-out from this restaurant for the third, and probably last time. The food is average, and if you order a shrimp dish, you get a total of 4 shrimp! The rest of the bowl was filled with rice and vegetables. While the rice seemed fresh, it seems they are very stingy with the protein which is more expensive. But when I can get 2 lbs of the same sized shrimp at ACME for 11.98, it seems very overpriced. A second order of beef suffered from the same. Having enjoyed Jing Fong as my Chinese restaurant of choice for the past year or so, I feel like it's past time to leave them a review. Being Chinese myself, I promise I have no ties to any of the Chinese people within the great state of Pennsylvania and am completely unbiased in my opinion. While I enjoy cooking my own Chinese food most of the time, every now and then I crave some General Tsao's Chicken and vegetable Lo Mein. And this place has the best of both. Their chicken is freshly fried, even a little crispy, definitely not doughy, and there are actually dried peppers in the sauce so there's a slight hint of heat not found in your sweet and sour and orange chicken. Twice, I have made the mistake of trying the place on State street, and the result was a horrifying brown mash. I don't even know how you can screw up general tsao's chicken so badly but I will never make the mistake of straying from Jing Fong again. As for veggie Lo Mein, you would think that should also be pretty standard across all Chinese restaurants, but not so. My two criteria for Lo Mein are that 1) it's not bland like a bowl of plain spaghetti (as much as I love Wegman's, I know not to get their Lo Mein for this reason), and 2) there's actually an ample and diverse selection of vegetables in it. With Jing Fong I can be sure that I scratch that itch every time. Other things about this place: 1) you can order online, which is quick and easy, and doing so allows you to have easy access to their coupons. 2) Not sure if they've always had this on the menu but I recently tried their "Chinese pizza", which should more aptly be called "scallion pancakes" but I'm not complaining because it is not a common item on Chinese restaurant menu's and reminds me of (those very rare occasions) my dad's cooking. 3) Service has always been fast and they are pretty friendly. I always get take out since I only live a couple of blocks away though. However, 4) they have gotten a couple of new tables, greatly improving the ambiance of the place, so I would actually consider dining in now in a pinch! All in all, you can tell this place cares about giving you good food and a good experience, which is what matters most to be and I'm a loyal customer because of it. read more

Called 5 mins before they were officially closed (Google and Yelp maaaay fib on Sunday hours- 10pm, not 10:30) but I was sick and in some desperate need of wonton soup. Greasy. Soooooo greasy. Even the homemade tea has grease in it. The hot and sour soup was bland and the Kung pao chicken was left wanting.

Lived in Media a few years now. I tried a bunch of places, this is the one that stuck. Love the Hot and Sour Soup. Everything is good.

Inside this is pretty much a standard Chinese takeout place. But the food is definitely good. I have tried the wonton soup which is great and comes with huge wontons filled with pork. The crab and cheese wontons are a great appetizer as well. As far as entrées I would go for the beef short ribs or the Szechuan chicken. The fried rice is good also with the big chunks of fried pork and veggies. There's always so much food so expect to have lunch as well the next day. read more

We never experienced a problem with the previous owner... food was always great. With this owner I have been disappointed each time. This is the 2nd time the egg foo yong was burnt. There were 3 shrimp in the patty: one was so dry it was inedible and the other two were not quite as dry, but chewy nonetheless. Note: there were only 3 small shrimp in the patty. Another menu choice was chicken and broccoli which was steamed when I had not requested steamed. It was very bland. The next time the gravy was very watery. It may be a year or so since they changed hands. In the past we ordered at least 3 times per month. The owner would remark, 'you are good customer'. We rarely order now and just forego eating Chinese. read more

I love this place not only did they deliver all the way out here to Claymont but they bought the food up to the apartment!( Unlike the other places I've ordered from where they made us come down to the front door and pick it up) The service was nice and they even called back to re-confirm the order. Which is nice. The food is good and the Gen. Tso chicken is really really good! Oh and they dont skimp on the fortune cookies. The only downside to this is that they don't include any forks If they added forks to the order then it would be a full star rating from me. read more

EEEeeee, well, I really liked the service, and the place was nice and clean, and they gave us a free egg roll, but I was a little skeeved out by the rehydrated looking spongey chicken. I usually go to the Yangtze Inn on State St. but thought I would try the "other neighborhood chinese place" to compare. I usually get hot and sour soup and chicken with mixed vegetables. Yangtze has a rich brown sauce with a plethora or different veggies, but Jing has a clear sauce (goo/snot?) with primarily colorless veggies, such as bok choy, water chestnuts, and baby corn, with maybe a snow pea thrown in there. I did see them pull out a large bowl of steamed broccoli in the kitchen, but to my anticipating palate there wasn't a florette to be found. The hot a sour wasn't bad, and my husband said his chicken fried rice was okay. Overall, Jing Fong left me unsatisfied and hungry 2 hours later....oh wait, that's all Chinese food...forget it. read more
