This was our first time dining here since their days inside the Franite Run Mall. There is a small bar, and the dining room is well decorated. The food was good, but way overpriced for Chinese cuisine. The service was slow. While it looked like they have several servers working, they didn't appear to be well organized. Margaret Kuo's is a wonderful restaurant. I find a seat at the bar and enjoy a cocktail as well as a few apps after a rejuvenating pedi & mani in the complex. I usually stick with the same things, because I love them! The Spring Rolls are always fresh, hot and crunchy! The Scallion Pancakes are prepared perfectly! The Rock Shrimp Tempura is succulent and tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It comes with a delicious yum yum dipping sauce. I love how creative they are with their cocktails. I ordered an Espresso Martini and the owner said, "we make it OUR way." Lol I said, "I'm ready for YOUR WAY!" The Espresso Martini was created with vodka, Khalua and Bailey's Irish Cream. It was TASTY. They have a Lychee and Ginger Martini that are magical! They were in a Cocktail Competition with their Kumqat Old Fashioned as well. My wife and I came here about 30 years ago when it was still in the mall, not knowing what to expect. We were blown away by the impeccable service (there was crumb brush service between appetizer and entrees) and tasty food. We went recently with family to its current location. There is a bar as you go in a side entrance, and the main restaurant is to the left of that. Very stylish decor. The main dining room was busy with about 3/4 of tables occupied. There was also a space to the side near the kitchen for private functions. We were greeted promptly and given peanuts and marinated cucumbers. Both tasty. We ordered shrimp and spinach dumplings, which eventually came out. Tasty and with soy sauce for dipping. For entrees, we tried: Shredded pork with dried tofu. My favorite of the bunch. Would get this again. A little greasy but not overly. Very flavorful. Walnut shrimp. This came with a savory sauce instead of the typical cream sauce you see often. It was ok but we likely wouldn't get it again. Butterfly shrimp. This came with bacon and egg. Three things my wife normally likes but they didn't come together in this dish. Service was slow. It took a long time between ordering and appetizer and then between appetizer and entrees, then to get the check. Prices: Not your typical sit down Chinese restaurant. Priced higher. Stopped in on a whim for an early dinner after a doctors appointment at Riddle Hospital. After we ordered, the waiter brought house made marinated pickles and spicy peanuts gratis for the table--the pickles had a lovely combo of sweet followed by a somewhat pleasantly addictive hotness. The peanuts were spicy little nuggets perfect with the wine we ordered. The dragon roll was artistically prepared and had wonderful flavor. The Pad Thai was very good as well. We went here last minute as we had a 40-minute wait at a local hibachi restaurant and decided to bail. We've been to their establishment on State Street in Media. This one in the Granite Run complex is definitely more modern and upscale. We started by having cocktails at their bar which seemed stylish and modern at first until we noticed dozens of supplies including boxes and paper towels blocking the right side of the bar by the window. Not a pretty sight. My lychee martini with Gray Goose was delicious though. When we were seated for dinner, we appreciated the complimentary pickled cucumbers and peanuts on the table. As an appetizer, I had the vegetable hot and sour soup with shiitake which was served 5+ minutes after my dinner companions received their soups. The tiger roll, which I had as an entree, was different with spicy salmon and shrimp. So excited that the chef from Wayne (permanently closed) is now here to make just about everything off the Chinese menu and Taiwanese breakfast on the weekends. It is a blessing to have Taiwanese food so close to here. The Tainan Dan Zai Noodle Soup was exceptionally good. The broth with fried scallions and they used marinated pork belly chopped up as the topping. Very authentic Taiwanese flavor. The bamboo was savory good; it was my mom's favorite dish at Margaret Kuo's in Wayne. The loofah was good just a little salty today. The mountain medicine root was cut with crinkles. Very healthy and delicious. The oyster pancake was delightful. Flavors on point. The beef tendon in hot chili oil was very good. My son could not stop eating it. So satisfied and grateful to have Margaret Kuo's back at Granite Run and now the chef from Wayne. Service was excellent even out on the patio. Our waitress came out every often to check on us. I used to love the Wayne location and decided to do sit in here. It's ok. Nothing exceptional. The service was great but food was ok. Don't think it's worth the price point. Visited Margaret Kuo's and was pleasantly surprised to find it in a plaza with not a large Asian presence. The decor was authentically Asian and exceptionally clean. Tried the beef noodle soup, which turned out to be quite good; the broth was so delicious that I even brought some home to make more noodles. The beef was soft and tender. We absolutely love this place 100% and we give it 5 stars every time. We were greeted with a big welcome and smile, which made us so happy. We chose to sit outside, although the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. They have a great selection of fresh fish, which is on display when you first enter their dining area. Next, we walked through the main room that has a beautiful selection of fine wines and champagne that you can order by the glass or the bottle. Since, the day was so gorgeous, siting outside under the umbrella was the only way to escape the hustle and bustle of Saturday afternoon shoppers. Margaret Kuo's is located, nestled in the heart of the granite run shopping center. Their menu is extensive but we chose the perfect dish for our leisurely afternoon of chit chat and reminiscing about our lifelong friendship with each other. We both ordered the same thing from the menu of fried rice and egg roll. Both were cooked to perfection with plenty to bring home. We were recommended this place due to the great food and many food options. And it did not disappoint. The menu was large and made it challenging to figure out what to choose because everything sounded so delish. They bring out spicy cucumbers and peanuts for free when you first sit down. Sushi is FRESH! We had the egg roll and spring roll. Spring roll is very gingery. Hot mustard sauce is HOT. It'll clean your nose out! Hot and sour soup, yellowtail jalapeño roll, and dumplings in garlic sauce are fabulous. Beef broccoli was a healthy portion and well seasoned. So far, not too many people seem satisfied with the new Margaret Kuo's but I decided to ignore the reviews today and headed up there for lunch today with my husband and 18 year old daughter. I usually like to form my own opinion on things, and in this case, I'm glad that I did. It is a beautiful space and the decor is so nice, from the wooden tables and comfy sophisticated chairs, to the open industrial type ceiling, to the pretty coral colored cloth napkins. The sushi bar area was really cool looking too - I wish I had gotten more pictures but sometimes it's a bit awkward doing that without making too much of a scene. Anyway, the food was all perfect. Between the three of us, we had the scallion pancakes, two types of sushi, beef soup noodles, Dan Dan Noodles, vegetable potstickers and vegetable spring rolls. It was all really good - definitely homemade and freshly made. As for the service - yeah, it was a little slow but we weren't in a rush so it didn't really bother us. Besides, the sweet older gentleman that waited on us was so cute and nice, how could we be upset!?! Overall - it was a fabulous lunch. We are looking forward to going back again! read more

This has always been one of our favorite places with its great atmosphere and we make sure to find time to stop by. My Wife, mom, and I decided to go by after doing some Christmas shopping and we were excited to eat the dumplings. We were seated immediately and didn't give it much thought to what we were eating. We ordered the ribs as an appetizer and the pork dumplings, which causes the table to get quiet with how good the food was. I went with my favorite dish to eat there, the general tso's chicken and it's the best you can get. The thing that surprised us was the lemoncello dessert, which we all took our time to eat and that is added to the list of things we have to get next time. Very excited to dine here but ended up so disappointed. KUNG PAO chicken did not look appetizing and had no flavor other than some peppers. Could not taste any spices or flavoring. I added some soy sauce, but all that did was make it taste salty. I asked to get chicken and broccoli instead. That was oily and also had no flavoring to, but it tasted salty. I'm only giving 2 stars because I really liked the hot and sour soup as well as the Szechuan dumplings. The service was minimal...no offer to refill my water until after I had asked for the check, no check in to see how things were. The sushi was awful...octopus had no taste and there was no wasabi. Then there was the spicy tuna (?) roll. I've had sushi all over and never has it been delivered like this. It wasn't tuna but a pink paste that again was absent of flavor. Do yourself a favor and don't pay for fancy tablecloths and a lighted wine chest. There has got to be a better option in the area. These guys really put me in an awkward position to grade them because in all honesty I didnt really have any issues with their food. I had the dan dan noodle and shrimp shumai appetizers. The dan dan was great, well spiced well cooked and just the right amount of spiciness. The shrimp shumai on the other hand was very soggy , flavorless and a strange texture that kept you from absorbing any of the soy dipping sauce that came with it. I got the moo shu chicken and although i did order it and received it the waiter kept saying moo shu pork which wasn't even on the menu, but kept saying it so often that I got pretty worried that that's is what i would receive and definitely didn't want and even though I am sure I got chicken I am slightly convinced it was pork just cause he kept saying it over and over and over again before it arrived. It was cooked well tasted good had a great plum sauce for dipping and pancake wraps that were really well cooked and not all stuck togther which often happens. I love moo shu and order it a lot when I have the opportunity and its usually not as good as the did here. Now based on the review this far you may be thinking why give it only three stars well let me tell you. It got three and maybe even deserved 2 for the service. One part was the waiter who kept saying I ordered something different but what was really the issue was the food delivery timing, my brother and his son got their entrees together at 630, my dad got his at 7 and I got mine at 715. Now I have worked at restaurants a lot in my life and making peoples food arrive at the same time is a big part of it. Its a fireable offense in a lot of places, if it was new maybe I would understand the timing being off, but this place is their flagship location and its not like a hole in the wall spot its like higher end chinese food restaurant. So I have no idea whats the deal. It wasn't even packed in there so it couldn;t have even been that. When you get you meal so much later than everyone else and than you have to scarf it down rapidly does not make for a good meal. Whatever service is falling off everywhere and everyone wants more and more tips so nothing surprises me anymore. Will I ever go here again I doubt it but I may consider takeout cause the food wasnt bad and at least I know it will all arrive at the same time. read more

Feels like an upscale restaurant with its very fancy dining room. The service was lackluster as I was always waiting 5-10 minutes to get the attention of the server. The food was okay. There are way better Chinese restos for a fraction of the price MK charges. This is a good spot if you're looking for sashimi or something from the sushi bar. I'd look elsewear for Chinese food. read more
