I ordered cinnamon pancakes which were delicious, soft and melted in my mouth. Eggs, fruit and sausage. My hubby ordered a biscuits and gravy dish that he salivated over. After a bad experience with The Big Biscuit, we opted for Jimmy's egg on Battlefield. It has been quite a few years since I have been there. It was a great choice and reset the day after the last experience. The restaurant was very clean, staff were actually very accommodating and quick to seat us. The food was very good. Metal spatulas clanking on a griddle as eggs and bacon were flipped. Happy staff members from the kitchen to the table left a comfortable and inviting environment. We watched all the staff and out of great surprise, they all conversed while working hard and were actually smiling while making sure customers breakfast arrived promptly at their table. Ordered avocado toast with a side of curly fries. The bread was buttered on one side and set on a griddle for a short time leaving it mostly un-toasted. The "smashed avocado" is not fresh smashed avocado. It is clearly a low quality avocado purée from a bag. Overall it is a very low quality and poorly prepared item. It tastes on par with what you would expect to get from an airport kiosk. The side of fries were standard quality however the whole side was about the size of a small McDonalds fries. read more

While traveling through Springfield this morning we stopped for breakfast here. There was a short wait for us, but soon a long line formed. We had never eaten here, but stopped on a whim. We came here about 9am on a su day morning and the place was packed. I was expecting a wait time but we were seated almost instantly which was great! The atmosphere was family friendly, and the restaurant appeared Clean. The service was also wonderful and fast.. My drink never went empty and I got three refills. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and they were pretty amazing. I'm not sure if I even took a breath while scarfing them down. I got a side of sausage as well. My husband ordered the country fried steak with hash browns and eggs and a side of biscuits and gravy. While my pancakes were superb his breakfast was almost enough to make me wish I ordered his. The country fried steak was crunchy and the gravy was tasty. He ordered his Eggs over medium and they came out more on the over hard side but honestly it's not a big deal. But if your picky about your eggs just watch for that. The biscuit was also very soft and has the perfect amount of salt in the dough making it so good you could honestly eat it without the gravy. For a bit we had one close to home, but its gone now. So when we were driving through and saw there was a Jimmys Egg we had to stop. It was busy for an early Sunday morning. The snow was starting and apparently church had been canceled so the crowd was starting to pick up. Luckily we got seated quickly, coffee was on the table immediate. We put in our orders and the food came out fairly fast. We watched food delivery services come in more than once while we were waiting. Its good to see this restaurant doing good. I love breakfast so I had to get the BAHA omelet which was perfect for me. The wait staff was helpful and everyone did a great job getting food out. Pretty basic breakfast place, but nothing out of the ordinary to set it apart from any of the other breakfast chains. A small nit is that when we were seated, my chair was covered in greasy hand prints and crumbs where a toddler probably sat, so I had to point it out to the hostess, and she quickly wiped it off for me. I had an omelette with a side of cottage cheese and an English muffin. It was good, but nothing special. My Dad is absolutely addicted to their chorizo & egg breakfast tacos though. Service was just OK. I ran out of water and it was never refilled and I tried to make eye contact with the server to ask for more, but never could get her attention. She just dropped off the check without asking if we wanted anything else, but that was OK because we needed to get to church anyway. read more

Another outstanding visit with service that can't be beat. People try to knock the Midwest but really they need to take a lesson. From the warm greeting to care taken to ensure the order is accurate and the food is tasty- you cannot get better service. Breakfast portion lasts all day so you keep going until dinner. The biscuits and gravy are dynamite, served just right with eggs on top! I sampled some pancakes that were so delicious. The warmness was still there as we were leaving and wishing us well and to please return. It is this kind of care that it is lost the more toward either coast you go. So. I am a fan of jimmys egg. But today I changed my mind. My wife and I stopped in for brunch. I'm going to add a couple photos. First thing I noticed is the table cleaner and rags were on the same table right against the stack of coffee mugs. I am not a health inspector but I didn't approve of this. Especially the dirty rags! Secondly. My bacon was cold, turns out it was just hanging out in a pile in a pan. The shelf it was on. DIDNT EVEN HAVE A HEAT LAMP!!! Thirdly. My waiter asked if I wanted cheese and onions with my hash browns. I said "onions please". What came out was a travesty. I am sure that the hash browns where pre made and warmed up and then these nasty thick slabs of onions thrown on top. I was absolutely seriously disappointed today.
