My husband and I wanted lunch after a zoo visit and decided to try Kearney St Cafe. It was just after 2:00 pm, and the restaurant was closing at 3. A very few diners sat inside, and pre-closing activities were taking place, so we weren't sure what to expect. My husband decided on a cheeseburger, and I chose the fish sandwich. ​I am writing this review to bring a very uncomfortable experience to the owner's attention. My group and I dined here two weeks ago on a Sunday. We had a large party and specifically requested Autumn's section. ​While Autumn and one of the other servers were fantastic, another employee--a short, older lady with short hair--was completely unprofessional. She threw a visible fit right in front of us regarding the table we were seated at, which instantly ruined the vibe and made our entire group feel extremely unwelcome and awkward. ​Customer service should never make guests feel like a burden for simply sitting at a table assigned to them. Large good looking Portions of food, but could be better quality, which is mediocre in my opinion. The quality and taste are just mid. What are cute place! The Greek influences on the menu remind me of a New Jersey diner experience. Large portions, reasonable prices. The one thing that does scare me is the "whipped spread" they serve with their pancakes and French toast. "Whipped spread is what you get when there is too much air in the product for it to be legally called margarine. Ick. My breakfast, however, was delicious! I had the lumberjack special with eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, home fries, and cinnamon French toast. I ate every morsel! My son had an everything omlette with hash browns and pancakes. He ate his entire omlette but, only had a couple of bites of his pancakes. They serve Pepsi products, but, if you add some lemon to the Pepsi, it is much more palatable. All in all, we would definitely come here again. And I definitely recommend it to others! read more

When I walked in I knew it was going to be good as soon as I saw all these old cowboys. The environment was super comfortable and homey and we were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. Very friendly staff. I got the Missouri omelette and it was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend got the west coast eggs Benedict and the eggs were actually poached unlike them being boiled at IHOP. Everything was delicious, service was fast. Definitely a hidden Springfield gem. Highly considering making it an every other weekend breakfast spot. read more

I had high hopes based on the reviews, but I was very disappointed. It's not like there was one thing that wasn't up to par. The whole thing just wasn't...good. The place didn't smell clean. And it didn't feel clean. You know what they say: If it's not clean where you can see it, imagine what it's like where you can't. The coffee was weak. The food was not great either. Neither of us finished our meal. Not because we were so full, but it was just that bad. My omelet, which came with feta cheese, basically had a block of feta cheese broken in two pieces across the top. I mean, I like feta, but this was just bad quality control. The omelet was okay...with enough Tabasco The pancakes were cold and had a taste and texture like they had been cooked much earlier and (maybe?) warmed up later. The butter didn't even soften on them. The syrup was colder than room temperature and didn't help with the "cold food" experience. Overall, the poor quality did not justify the $30 price tag for two people. I will say that the service was good, and there was a generally pleasant atmosphere. We went there on our trip to Springfield wanting a place where we can get breakfast or lunch since we had three people that couldn't agree on any particular place to go. Waited for a table for about 10 minutes, even though there were tons of empty tables and the hostess was quite confused, and kept telling everybody before we get a table and then another lady would come up and sit us right away. She might've been new. The same lady that sat us faster than the other one was also our server. Seem like she'd been there a while. She was very knowledgeable and very friendly. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with two eggs, my spouse, ordered the ham and beans with cornbread, and my sister ordered, the southern breakfast. Everybody was happy enough with their food. The biscuits had a good flavor, but we're totally overcooked very dark brown, but covered in gravy and hard to cut. The flavor was good. Seem like there were lots of locals there that were quite loud. Speaking loudly and had their phones playing videos loudly so it wasn't quite a relaxing experience so we hurried up and ate and left. Our family was a large group of rambunctious adults happy from a family wedding...they put up with the families antics and gave great service..our little waitress was awesome...my husbands chicken fried steak was perfect. I was greeted and sat immediately. The service was wonderful. I ordered the lumberjack platter- and I was under the impression that it came with eggs, a protein, and a starch or choice of potato. Well it ended up coming with ham, bacon, sausage AND potatoes. And you wonder why everyone here is over 6 ft tall. I ended up sampling everything and it was perfect. I also ordered the French toast which was cooked to perfection. I love how they use the little round bread for it. The inside gave me a down home family vibe. I was served rotten meat. I was very kind and let them know. I wasn't rude. The owner came to my friend at the table and told her to let me know I could go to McDonald's. That he wouldn't serve me anymore. I ask that he come tell me that and he wasn't man enough to be rude to my face. I have eaten there for years and so has my family. This was the second time we had gotten bad meat. Last week it was bacon. Instead of being disrespectful to his patrons he needs to check his coolers to make sure the meat is stored correctly. Also, bland instant potatoes and veggies. I have run several business's. He is rude and awful if something is wrong. I'm having to go see my doctor in case the bite I took make's me seriously ill. Typical "we got it all" spot. Nothing fantastic, and nothing awful. Fair prices, decent portions. My complaint is cooking staff. If you are an attractive female or come in with one prepare to get uncomfortable. The staff will keep eyeing you or the person you are with and speak in Spanish about you/them. Today we decided to go out and eat with my grandma, the waitress was rude, and acted kinda drugged up, it smelt like cat pee and throw up. w We sit down get our drinks and order, we notice there is a few Flys flying around our table. When we got our food the Flys stated sworming so bad you couldn't eat, because you were shooing away Flys constantly. I ordered the chicken parmigiano, a salad and baked patato and the with the few bites I had, the salad was brownish and had nothing but lettuce, the chicken tasted microwaved and had a rubbery texture with melted shredded cheese on it, and the baked patato I ordered was so hard I couldn't puncture it with a fork, and on top of all that we never got ONE drink refill, and that's when I started to look around the floors were covered in food, dirt, ect.. it was so nasty. I got up and seen a couple of other "ready" tables were coated with dirt and food, when we told our waitress about our food she kinda just walked away, and didn't even discont us or apologize for our experience.
