We've been through Springfield dozens of times but we have never tried The Big Biscuit so we gave it a shot. We ordered the Del Rio Omelet & the Western Omelet. Our meals arrived in very short order & everything was excellent except for the Omelets themselves which seemed just a little dry & needed a little more flavor. Our server, Alexis, was quite personable & did a fantastic job of taking care of us & the prices were more than fair ( 2 Entrees & Coffee for $35.42. All in all it was a nice experience & we will gladly return to The Big Biscuit. read more

Stopped in here during a recent trip after finding it on Yelp. The restaurant was busy but they had us seated in just 10 minutes. We came here for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is fun and the service was great. I got Jim's Platter. It was wonderful. I really enjoyed the biscuit and sausage gravy. Stopped in around 0845 on a Tuesday and it wasn't that busy, so we got sat right away by a very pleasant waitress. It was clean and quiet with music playing. I got the Cinnamon Roll pancakes and they were delicious. Super sweet which I expected so I ate only 4 or 5 bites before taking the rest home, which I did end up eating as dessert after dinner. My wife and I were here today. We frequent here anytime we want to go out for breakfast. It's always great service and people are always so welcoming. The food is amazing, it's can be a bit pricey but the portions are huge. The food is also super high in calories so be careful about that but you could definitely share most of the meals. read more

My husband and I decided to try Big Biscuit for the first time this morning. We arrived just before 10 a.m., and the restaurant was less than half full, so we were seated right away. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Over the next 15 minutes, four different servers walked past our table multiple times without even acknowledging us. We made eye contact, smiled, and tried to get their attention--nothing. Meanwhile, we noticed that tables seated after us were already being served. It became clear that we were being overlooked, and rather than continue to wait for basic recognition, we chose to leave. We were disappointed not just by the lack of service, but by how easily preventable the issue was. We understand that mistakes happen, but being completely ignored by multiple staff members in a mostly empty restaurant doesn't reflect well on your customer service. Unfortunately, it left us with little interest in returning. read more

This restaurant is right next door to RibCrib and across the street from Battlefield Mall. I just popped in for a small quick snack to go while doing some shopping. Big Biscuit surprised me on my first visit. I only bought 2 items, sausage and strawberry lemonade. They do not list prices on the menu at the To Go counter. 2 items were nearly $10. I had sticker shock when I heard the total and I saw the price of my lemonade. It was followed by sugar shock because the strawberry lemonade is EXTREMELY sweet. I paid a million dollars for it and had to throw it away. The sausage patties were good though. And I really like the name Big Biscuit. read more

Restaurant was half empty, they make you check in using a tablet because the staff are too lazy to take your name down. Waited 20 minutes for 15 minute wait. Watched multiple couples come in and get seated even after asking and checking my name on the tablet being in spot number two. Ask the hostess, who seemed bothered by my question and upset. The people were asking her for help. Came in a second time and asked where we were on the list and she said she's been working on trying to get us seated for a party of two when the restaurant is half empty. If you feel like standing in line and being treated like a tool, this is your restaurant. Thank you big biscuit, this was our one and done. If you claim your understaffed, don't open your restaurant and expect your customers to pay for your shortcomings. read more

What a great breakfast spot! We used Yelp Waitlist feature and were able to walk in and be seated. Don't sleep on that Yelpers! Our service was fast and friendly. I tried a scrambled bowl with a biscuit and a side of sausage gravy. Everything was hot and delicious. A mini coffee carafe was left on our table for easy access. We've always been happy with our food here but the past 2 years it's just not the same. Our favorite is their breakfast scrambles but the eggs aren't fluffy anymore and they give you less potatoes in the bowl. Our biscuits have been crispy and dense, not fluffy, sometimes greasy tasting. We switched it up and ordered an omelette it was ok but nothing to brag about. I'd have to say IHOP has the best omelette of the two places. The more seasoned waiters/waitresses are welcoming but the newer staff could brush up on their smiling and people skills. read more

I was hesitant at first when I sat down and it took the waitress a minute to provide service but once she came she was on it. Shout out to Dream my waitress! It was quite busy in the joint so that was a good sign for me. Once the food came the wait was well worth it. Plenty of servings and filling. I highly recommend this place if your in Springfield, MO. My wife and I were driving through Springfield, and had chance to check these folks out. My kitchen passion is baking, and I am proud of my biscuits. These folks are amongst the few where I need to focus and take some lessons. Still, the rest of the food was good but not impressive. We had spotted this place the night prior and not wanting the hotel breakfast we decided to give this place a try. It was a Tuesday morning and there was a bit of a crowd. We (two of us) had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table. They were a bit short staffed but who isn't nowadays? The staff was super friendly and fast. We ordered a full order of Biscuits and Gravy. Going into a place named The Big Biscuit you have to. The order came out with hash browns and my wife order a side of scrambled eggs. The biscuit were AMAZING!!! They were buttery and were light. The gravy was great. I like the gravy a bit thicker but this was good gravy. The hash browns and eggs were good nothing that stood out. Prices were reasonable and the staff was great. Place was very clean and neat. Even with the short staffing tables were cleaned and readied quickly. I would definitely recommend the Big Biscuit for breakfast. The lunch menu looked good but we were there for the Biscuits! Will absolutely go back. read more

Let me start off by saying the customer service here is absolutely amazing. We ate at this restaurant 2x within a span of 4 days. One because of the food and two because of the customer service. Our waitress Machelle was absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic. I would recommend this place over and over. The portions are generous and you won't leave there hungry. The biscuits and gravy hands down are the best I've ever had. The pancake really is as big as the plate and taste so so good. I wasn't a fan of the BONUT. The burger fries looked amazing and my mom raved about them. I LOVED my roast beef. I haven't had it in a while and have never ordered it in a restaurant. I'm glad I did. The meat was nice and tender, the gravy savory and luscious. I would order it again in a heartbeat. They had lots of dessert offerings but we were too full to try any of them. The restaurant is large. It looks nice inside and has room for almost any size of group. The service was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place for a delicious, homestyle meal. Come check this restaurant out!

I'm really not sure where to start with this review. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all. I saw…read morephotos of the food on Yelp and thought this might be a good dive or greasy spoon style diner to have lunch at with my husband, since I was in the area. We met there and the outside aesthetic alone should've warned us off. To start, the exterior of the building was quite worn down, the windows were dark and dirty, and the sign was broken. If it weren't for the cars parked outside and for the fact that I called ahead to ensure they were open, we would've thought they were closed for business, permanently. We enter the building lobby, for lack of a better word, and proceed into the dining room. The first step into the dining room was me stepping into a literal hole that is covered with a rubber mat. That's a definite hazard. I couldn't believe that they'd just cover it with a mat. That's really dangerous. At that point, I was really starting to rethink staying. We walk further in and there is this atrocious, sour, vomit-inducing stench that billows throughout the room. It slaps you in the face and takes your breath away, and it's covered by a very strong pine smell. Again, I'm contemplating leaving but my husband didn't want to make a scene. The place is FILTHY! And I don't mean filthy as in someone spilled food and didn't clean it up. I'm talking decades of grease, dirt, bacteria, etc. covering the floor and furniture. You could take a putty knife and chisel up layers of gunk from the floor. There was even a sign that said something like- "Wipe tables down each night- Alli". I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist. If you have to tell your staff that.... ugh... We get to the table and I didn't even want to touch the chair to sit, let alone stay there and eat, but I didn't want to leave right after we entered the place. I was hoping (praying) the food would be worth it... The waitress comes over to take our drink order and brings the drinks back pretty quickly. The cup felt like it hadn't been washed, ever... It had a layer of grime on the outside. Say you cooked something greasy at home and let the greasy dish soak in the sink for a day, but a cup fell into the pan and soaked with it overnight. When you pick it up the next day and the grease is stuck to the side of it- that's what it felt like. I would've asked for a new cup, but I knew in my gut that the next one wouldn't be any better. It's like they run their dishes through a dishwasher that only has cold water and no hot water. Bleh. They take our food order and I'm quite literally praying that we don't get sick from eating here. Why I stayed, I have no idea. I guess I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. The waitresses seemed like they had their own issues and I didn't want to add to it. The food comes out and and it's time to eat. My burger was ok at first, clearly a frozen patty but I'm giving it a shot. Then I taste something off and stop eating it. My fries... I just can't even... a few of them were ok, but then I got to some that tasted like they had been fried in a deep fryer that had been used for years without being cleaned or having the grease replaced. My burger also tasted like it was cooked on a filthy grill. My husband couldn't stomach the place and only ate the things on his plate that he thought couldn't make him sick. We got the ticket, paid, and left as quickly as we could without being too obvious or rude. It's a little restaurant that is clearly struggling. This place was beyond 'dive' or 'greasy spoon' status. There's no possible way that this restaurant is safe to eat at. I honestly don't know how they ever pass the health inspection. The level of dirty here is not something that can be cleaned up the day before inspection day, just to get this dirty again between inspections. It must never, ever, be cleaned, or the inspector is blind, literally. As you can guess, we will never be eating here again and I don't recommend that you do either.

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but the pancakes were actually some of the best I've had in a long time. The inside of the building is a little older, but it feels like home. I definitely recommend the breakfast to anyone looking to order, especially the pancakes.

As I stated there were 7 of us and we had full plates and all had sodas and the total was under $90 we would have spent $90 to eat at McDonald's. I would recommend this place! The place isn't fancy looking, definitely no frills or fancy decor. But if you're looking for a good meal and a good portion at a decent price, try this place!! I hope you don't get our first server with the nasty attitude and excuses for her behavior! I would have given this place 5 stars had we not encountered her.
