This place is great! The food was incredible, the service was excellent, and the ambience suited the menu! Don't be fooled by the exterior and the lack of signage outside. If you find this place, definitely go in and have a burger and fried pickles! The pickles were the best I've ever had... And I've had too many to count. The onion rings were thin and crispy and cooked perfectly. Can't wait to try this place again when I'm back in the area. Went here for lunch based on a coworkers's recommendation and what an absolute hidden gem! Friendly service which may come across as slow, but they cook everything fresh and to order. The crispy lettuce and onion really was refreshing from all of the local fast food. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but that's part of the nostalgic Route 66 vibe. There's an outdoor patio that would be amazing in the fall or spring. read more

Super friendly service, only topped by amazing food! We had an amazing double cheeseburger, hand battered chicken strips, fresh cut french fries and fresh onion ring/strings. Huge servings of sides. Soooo good! I only regret is that we were too full to try the shakes/malts, which all of the locals were getting. They even had pull through parking to fit our pick up truck and fifth wheel. read more

Best chocolate malted I've had on Rt 66 (of the 3 I've tried). Well-blended with a robust malt flavor. I didn't try any hot food, so can't comment on that. read more

Service was terrible! An hour and a half wait for three burgers. Once we finally got our food one burger had no meat on it!

We were on a road trip to Nashville to see Reba. This was one of our first stops along the way. It's a small diner in a small town which is part of the appeal of eating at a diner on old Rt 66. There's both indoor & outdoor tables. There was only a couple tables not taken and a group of 4-5 guys outside when we got there. Despite having quite a crowd our food arrived quickly. The cheeseburger was great. Buns were soft. The fried mushrooms were good. And the tots I am almost certain Reba herself would have approved of them. My family stopped at this diner for a quick dinner after a shopping trip, when we first walked in I was taken back to when I was younger. It genuinely looks like you went back in time to an old diner. The food was amazing as well! Everyone talks about the onion rings, and they are not wrong. They are incredible and addictive! Had lunch there yesterday for the first time . What a meal ... Cheeseburger and onion rings . The quality of the food was a 5 . Wonderful taste . It was a large burger perfectly prepared with a fresh bun lightly toasted with a large slice of tomato and crisp lettuce . The onion rings ? If enjoy onion rings , these are the best. Again , a large portion of rings , breaded and fried in fresh oil . They are like what I recall at Coleys , when I was a child . I plan to go back today for lunch . It's worth the drive . I'll gladly drive by multiple places who serve burgers and rings to have their food . Service was efficient and timely . They were busy . The server was friendly and focused . I felt like " an familiar customer " In a world of reduced portions and compromised service , Joe's Diner is a welcomed discovery and what other places have abandoned . read more

Be careful of the food that you get because it is not cooked and when you try to have it fixed, they are rude by asking you do you want free food and make sure your order is correct because if it's not they come up with something to make it look like they were right And they will be very rude about it in the first place I don't see how this new management is going to stay in business. It's a business of children who have no experience on how to treat people. read more

Perfect diner food right off I-44. We loved the ambiance of this place. It feels like you've stepped back in time to eat at a real old school diner. Order at the counter. Menu hangs above the counter. Service was quick and helpful for suggestions on what to get. I got the sassy burger, which is a burger with their sassy sauce. My husband and I split a small order of onion rings. The onion rings are a real star here. Thin cut onions with a nice light batter. They were perfect with a side of ranch for dipping. The restaurant has limited seating indoors and more seating outside. Don't sleep on this place. Stop in and try it now. read more

Found this little gem for a quick lunch while traveling west on I44. Nothing special to look at but the onion rings and cheeseburgers were fabulous! The onion rings were super thinly sliced with a light batter. The cheeseburgers were handmade and came dressed with ketchup, small amount of diced onions, pickles and mustard. Reminded me of the old day McDonalds hamburgers! Great service and everything was made to order! A short distance off the interstate and ample parking for our 45' RV (a big plus too!). Stop by and give Joe's Diner a try! Been in business 51 years and has a lot of that old Route 66 feel! And one other quick note... they are open later than Yelp lists. 10am - 8pm seven days a week! read more

Everything a diner should be! We stopped by for a quick bite. Delicious hand formed burgers on soft buns are cooked to order. My sassy burger had a special sauce on it with lettuce, onions and pickles. Hubby's fire burger was topped with lightly breaded jalapeños, and a sauce with a cayenne kick. Fries were hand cut. Complete meal for two for under 20 bucks. Can't beat that! read more

On our drive down 44 between St Louis and Branson we had a craving for some local burgers and fries. Joe's popped up on Yelp and so I had to try it out. Got a cheeseburger with freshly made fries, ordered onion rings and the fried pickles. The food was only shadowed by the hospitality of the workers. This place is run by wonderful people and you can tell they take pride in their food. The lunch was soo good we couldn't even eat dinner that evening! read more

Not sure the history of the place but I can't call it a hole in the wall as they might actually have one. Philly cheesesteak and fries are what I ordered. Fries are like the king you get at the fair. Such a quaint little restaurant on our way through the Ozarks. We wanted to stop someplace local and get the local flavor, found this place on Yelp and saw the reviews and decided to try it. Wow, just wow. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. I had a double cheeseburger, fries, and a Coke. The burger was made to order and gloriously greasy as you should expect from a road side diner. Standard dress was mustard ketchup pickle and onions. Fries were spot on also with coarse salt and a sprinkling of herbs that worked well. If you happen to stumble across this place during lunch time (only open 11am-2pm), you must indulge. read more
