I was hoping that they might have improved when they changed locations... unfortunately they did not. Service was terrible. We ordered the special (smothered pork chops), because usually service is quicker if you order the special. They were out of the majority of their meager side selection , and twenty minutes after placing our order the server came and informed us that they are out of the smothered pork chops. Fast forward twenty minutes later... still no food and none of the customers who came in before us have food yet either. I just watched a customer go in the kitchen to get a coffee pot to give herself a refill. Service here sucks. At this point I don't care if the food is amazing when it arrives, because the long wait and crappy service is not worth it. ETA : customer who was here before us got tired of waiting and got up and left before their food arrived. ETA 2 : another table just got up and walked out because they got tired of waiting. ETA 3: Definitely not worth the wait or the price. Waited an hour and ten minutes for a dry as the desert burger, a micro side of mashed potatoes with thin watery gravy, and a side of canned corn ($11.50); and overcooked chicken livers that tasted like they've never changed their fryer grease, a tiny baked potato with fake butter and burnt bacon, and a side of woody broccoli stems ($11). This is not the restaurant it was or in the same place. My friends and I had eaten here a couple years ago riding to Tennessee. It was a great restaurant and we decided to meet here once again. From the highway, the restaurant looked closed, with no cars in the parking lot. We soon discovered that it had moved to an old storefront location down town. The building was old, but clean. The one restroom was also a bathroom with tub and shower. We were immediately seated, served coffee, and drinks and placed our order. Several of us had omelettes with biscuits and gravy. We were served coffee and our cups were diligently kept full as we waited for our food and waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally food begin to appear one order at a time for my friends to complete their food before the next order would appear. The orders we're also served lukewarm. One friend had the Philly cheesesteak omelette. It's cheese, two slices of processed white cheese lazily placed on the top. The omelette was not hot enough to even melt the cheese. But at least one friend had ordered the vegetable and cheese omelette, which was served without cheese likewise had ordered the vegetable cheese omelette, requesting egg whites. The waitress kind of looked at me funny when I ordered egg whites. I asked if they had egg whites. She assured me that they did. But I got was a pile of egg whites, not resembling an omelette with a scoop of oily sautéed vegetables placed on top and no cheese. In fairness, the waitress did offered to bring me a slice of cheese however, I knew as cold as the omelette was there was no way it would melt and who wants cold cheese and cold eggs? In all it took over an hour for six of us to be served lukewarm food, and messed up orders. We were all very disappointed and will not be stopping here again. What was really a great restaurant when it was in its old facility clearly demonstrated its quality of food. It is no longer there keep going. Breakfast was normal. Eggs bacon and hash browns. I'll say it was good. At first it smelled like cigarette smoke inside and don't know if I got use to it but later I didn't smell it. It is decorated with John Wayne pics which I liked. But the floors seem dirty so I feel like it needs cleaned up some. The servers were nice and efficient. Also outside seemed kinda dirty. If you want to eat like a local, this is the place... warm friendly service, generous portions, and great prices... We stopped in for breakfast on our road trip since we didn't want the continental offerings at the local hotel. I had the chicken-fried steak: nicely seasoned, thick, with a side of their creamy sausage gravy. It came with creamy grits and toast plus eggs. Hubby had the omelette with grits and a biscuit. Biscuits aren't homemade, but he said it was still light and fluffy. Very filling and at a reasonable price. Only caveat, we're from the West Coast where they've pretty much banned smoking, so it was interesting to see smoking and non-smoking sections... make sure you choose the right side... Also loved the John Wayne inspired decor. Stop in and sit a spell... you can't go wrong if you're in the area. And the restaurant has moved down the road from it's original location but just down the road a bit... enjoy! read more

FANTASTIC breakfast and service!!! I'm visiting the area for about 2 weeks and will definitely be returning several more times. A little slow but that's from understaffing issues - hard to fault a business when people don't want to work. The 2 waitresses serving about 15 tables were very nice and efficient. read more

When the cook comes from behind the counter and is donned in an apron bearing the name "Big Daddy", you know you are in for a treat! The food was excellent, well proportioned and price appropriately. We ordered the patty melt, The blacksmith, bacon cheese burger, and a grilled cheese and ham! I ordered the onion rings with mine and they were the perfect ratio of onion and crunchy battering! The fries were not greasy and crunchy on the outside with soft potato inside. They serve breakfast all day everyday and are very flexible if you want lunch for breakfast. They also have a buffet during their lunch hours. Our meal for 4 adults and one child, 3 fountain drinks and 2 waters was $39 without tip. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Stopped in passing by from local festival. Sunday right after church time. Cowboy decor as name would suggest. Local customers in A local cafe in a small town- imagine that! Exactly what we like. Seated quickly. Drinks brought right out. Wife had chicken livers with sides. She finished them and I liked them. I tasted one. ( not a liver fan ). Tasted good to me. Country fried steak. With gravy for me. Good. Mashed potatoes were real and good. Green beans tasted like green beans and not cooked to death. Companions burgers looked good and they liked them. Fries / tots standard. This is a no frills small town diner that serves up food mainly to the locals unless a visitor passes through. The employees who were working were welcoming and pleasant. The food is home made and the prices are fantastic for a hot, fresh made breakfast. There was too much for me to eat and even my husband couldn't clean his plate. Buffet, salad bar and desert for lunch or a full menu including breakfast. If your hungry for a burger they have a list of burgers to choose from. One that stood out was the Harris burger that had grilled cheese for buns topped with an egg. I had the buffet that included meatloaf, fried catfish, goulash, BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, beans and fried zucchini. On the desert side they had cherry pie, peanut butter pie, lemon cake and coconut creme.If your in the area it's well worth a stop. read more

Catfish in a small town diner.. My wife loved her patty melt and onion rings.. I should have ordered a burger.. The catfish was covered with the coarsest, thickest "breading" I had ever encountered on fried catfish.. It wasn't really breading, more like a hard crust.. I couldn't taste the catfish.. Sad.. Don't waste your time. Husband ordered prime rib sandwich special. Came with a couple of curled up wet beef pieces that looked like it had been that packaged beef that was boiled. They literally put that meat on a dry hamburger bun and nothing else!!! Wow for $7.99 he got that and some French fries. I ordered a house salad. Thanks for opening a bag of lettuce throwing a couple croutons on it, sprinkling some cheddar cheese and adding a cherry tomato in the corner and then loading it up with cut up onion. Do not rely on GPS, Rustys has moved down the street. It is behind Caseys General Store in Seymour. Great breakfast, very tasty, very reasonably priced. The Cowboy Mess was good and very filling. Service friendly. Interior seems pretty bare but maybe as just moved not "cozy" yet. There is a connected smoking section but luckily no one was smoking. read more
