I'm a sucker for a great breakfast place, and this is among the best I've experienced. It's a…read morefairly small, homey place well south of the town of Branson. I recently returned a year after the first visit, and it hasn't changed a bit. The menu is extensive insofar as classic American fare is concerned, but this isn't the kind of place you'll find 4 clever variations on Eggs Benedict. Anything named after Benedict Arnold has no place in the Ozarks. A year ago, I ordered a western omelet, which commanded my attention and exertions for the better part of 20 minutes. The portions are definitely generous - the pancakes are the size of pizzas. If you're on Ozempic, either skip this place or confine yourself to a single slice of wheat toast. Some gals in the group demurely ordered half portions of biscuits and gravy, thinking a dainty portion would show dedication to preserving their girlish figures. These "half portions" filled the entire (largish) plate. I made a mental note to opt for this on any future visit, and that future arrived this week. Biscuits were country-good, and the gravy was substantial, not that watery stuff that is sometimes drizzled on Pillsbury-from-the-tube biscuits. If you're in Branson, head a little south of the dam to Hungry Hunter. Get there early, because this place is deservedly popular and there will probably be a wait. And the parking can be a bit contentious. It's not open on Monday or Tuesday.

There was something off-putting about the CFS. I didn't care for the coating or the gravy. I'd give it a 2/5. My stepmom gave it a 4/5. Her tastebuds are broken. My dad enjoyed his omelette and said the veggies were lightly sautéed and not greasy. The service was good. The wait was not worth the taste of the CFS, but honestly, 0 minutes of waiting is not worth the CFS. I typically love CFS, but in this case, I wish I had tried the French toast instead. Me: 2/5 (based solely on taste, 5/5 for portion size) Stepmom: 4/5 Dad: 5/5 then amended to 8/10, which is 4/5

At that they were selling a coffee sugar body scrub and it was amazing. Environment is comfortable and welcoming. Sad they are no longer open on Saturday's, but worth it to go if they are open on a day you can go.

When you're from a larger place and accustomed to COVID mandates everywhere it's surprising to visit out-state places and find situations similar to pre-COVID conditions. At True 'Brew dining room tables were spread out but that was it for virus precautions. No plexiglass shields at the register. No employee masks or gloves except for the sandwich maker. No soap out. No social distancing signs. My turkey club sandwich was built on wonderful tasting flatbread. It would have been an exceptional sandwich if not for the excessive mayonnaise. Mayo dominated the sandwich. The one napkin I received was insufficient to contain mayo squirting off every edge of the flatbread. Salad, chips, and pickle came with, making the $6.50 price a real value. True 'Brew has plenty of coffee, tea, smoothie, and milkshake options but no colas or bottled water. (Insert sad face here.)
