Don't want to leave too bad of a review because we didn't actually try the food and it's a very nice place. When we came in we were told to just sit wherever and the waitress went and got our menus but then stopped by two chatty tables and just held them. We waited at least 10 minutes to even be able to look at a menu. We were saying, we wished she would just kindly tell them she'd be right back, hand us our menus and then go back and let them talk her ear off some more, instead of us just sitting there, without even being able to see what they had. When we finally did get our menus, we quickly saw that everything was super expensive. Two of us have a gluten allergy and the gluten free pizzas are $12 a piece for just cheese..... any added toppings are all $1 for each item..... if they were large enough to share, that would be fine but they're tiny. So, it would have already been $30 just for two small pizzas..... plus, having to order another meal for my husband. We were still going to just order the large nacho plate, hoping it would be big enough for us to share but the waitress took so long to get back to us, we decided to just leave. Let me say though, she was the only server there and had no help and she was nice and did not charge us for our one Dr. Pepper we ordered and water. I don't mean to say she wasn't doing the best she can because I do believe she was, it is not her fault that the management didn't schedule more staff. I've heard good things about this place. We sat at a booth in the bar area! It was absolutely awful! Too much noise from the regulars! Food was tasteless! Service was ok! Getting to the ladies room was a challenge! So we went a third time with 8 in our party. We were seated in back room! We had children with us, so bar area was totally out of the question. Service was fine but again food was very disappointing! Most surprising, however, is the tasty food. Start with the Ole Mill Fries. Period. If you see another appetizer that interests you, order that too - but you must try the Ole Mill Fries! The Grilled Shrimp Basket was far better than we expected! My BLT was a huge surprise; I always get double-bacon, but heard it was not necessary here. I was pleasantly surprised by the hearty portion of thick-slab bacon on my sandwich! Fantastic! Drinks are stout and unpretentious. The food is grande. Service is good, and the bar is neat. What a mess. Food was relatively consistent but man what a trainwreck when it comes to service. First time pretty good - staff was engaging and pretty solid. 2nd time striving for mediocre. Third time had zero charm - from carry out order and 3 beers to one of the most incredible breakdowns in restaurant management history ( My experience working in, owning, and managing restaurants only goes back to '86 - what do I know). If you can't train skill at least untrain attitude. Been going to area and this particular location for over 20 years while visiting family. Review only reflects experience from '23 to present. We arrived late on Sunday and did a quick yelp search to see what restaurants were open. It was only a couple of sit down restaurants open at that hour, and We got lucky and found the mill. Our waitress Trinity was the best ....very friendly, had great customer service and recommended what to eat and drink since we had never been there. The seasonal beer she recommended was a hit ...... it complementary our dinner of homemade chips and pulled pork sandwich. Everything tasted great ...... compliments to the chef for doing five star work. We will definitely be back when we're back in Arkansas. read more

Outstanding!! We were visiting Mtn Home for the weekend and wanted to try local establishments. We found Ole Mill Tavern on Google maps and decided to try it. The location is very easy to get to. We were greeted as soon as we walked in door. The restaurant/bar is quaint with a lot of local flavor. We were seated right away and Pam came our table, greeted us, gave us our menus and took our drink orders. She returned quickly with our drinks, gave us some menu suggestions and we ordered. Our food came out hot, fresh and very good!! The menu prices were reasonable, too. We talked about how good it was all weekend, that we ate lunch there on our way out of town that weekend. We had the exact same experience the second time. Highly recommend this local gem!! We will definitely be back next time we are in town!! read more

Burnt food! and service! I have tried them maybe six times and each time there is something wrong! The quality seemed better in the beginning, but hasn't been the last couple times. Staff could be so much more friendly when coming in the door! Just being greeted and acknowledged would help! Sorry, but you asked! Every time we order food it is fantastic! We order by phone each time, from a menu we find online. The order takes about 30 minutes to prepare! The food is hot and correct! It's a bar/den-like place where the old farts are sitting at the bar chatting away with the bartender AND each other. A few people are usually sitting at some of the tables. At first I was intimidated by the environment feeling like I was so, out of place, but not any more! If there is a barstool available, I just climb in and jump right into being part of the Ole Fart Club!!! Definitely recommend! The food is GREAT! read more

Our waitress was the best! We were a large group with four loud(ish) kids, lots going on, and she never missed a beat. The food was pretty good, I would recommend the wings and the salad with salami (forgot what it's called-first one in the menu) and to start with the pickle fries! The burgers were not quite what we expected, but maybe my husband didn't make the best choice. His was a little bland (we are from Louisiana and accustomed to generous seasoning), but it wasn't anything to complain about. My sister in law's burger with voodoo sauce was probably the way to go for a little spice! Back to our waitress, the highlight of the experience, she gave us some really great tips about the area. Stopped in this place for the first time for dinner while visiting from out of town. Obviously a local favorite which says a lot about any establishment. Typical bar & grille menu but with a really great pizza selection. I had the meat lover's pizza. It was just simply one of the best pizzas I've ever had. My preference is super thin crust and this place has a thin crispy crust! Toppings were abundant with great tasting meats and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Fantastic service by our server. She was awesome! Wish I would have remembered her name so I could include it in this review. Never needed to ask for anything. My brother had a big burger and his was fantastic as well. Highly recommend Ole Mill Tavern. It won't disappoint! read more

I haven't been in the Ole Chi Mill in at least 30 years and my memories are of a dark, dingy, smoke-filled bar with unfriendly old -fart customers and lazy staff. In 2020 under new ownership is The Ole Mill Tavern, a more appropriate name for a refreshed new place. The new place is well-lit, clean with no smokey smell and has friendly, attentive staff and a group of regulars from the old place. Now that I'm an old fart it's all good. You can see right into the kitchen which is nice and food comes out pretty fast. The menu has a nice Chicago Tavern selection of meaty sandwiches and fried things, including their vision of a Chicago-style Italian beef. They charge $12.99 for a sandwich that already comes with cheese on a hoagie. Portillo's charges $8.49 for a big beef with sweet or hot peppers, no cheese, on Italian bread with au ju. The Tavern's was more than a French dip, but less than a Italian beef. It lacked Italian seasoning and basic pepper and salt, and a bit overpriced, but I didn't hate it. Got some what I think was homemade giardiniera on the side which was good. Fries were okay for bagged fries and my Coke was flat, not great for a $17 lunch. Pizza and fresh oysters with homemade horseradish seem to be the draw here, so I'll have to come back. I haven't tried fresh oysters in years, so I hope I can buy ONE. Two if I want one plain and the other Rockefeller. I'd like to see them lean into the Chicago theme again with the menu. They used to have Old Style and I'd love a good meatball, Italian sausage sandwich on a loaf of Italian and some made-to-order fries. Also some plate dinners like cod and clam chowder on Friday, chicken and rice on Sunday. and I know folks around here aren't crazy about those of us from Chicagoland, but you can't say we don't know good food!
