We went in the night we got married on Bull Shoals on 10-08-2025. Friend of mine had told us about the place. By the time we got there it appeared as if they where getting ready to close for the night. We ordered appetizer of stuffed jalapeno shrimp. They where good. Wife ordered a chicken snadwhich, she said was ok. I ordered the Hamburger steak combo, and a side of chili. The picture attached is what I received. A frozen processed hamburger patty, sid eof chili that tasted like it had sugar in it, NO FRIES, and gravy with really bad toast. WAS not the experience I had heard about. Was expecting more I guess. Was disappointed in food. read more

Back Forty - Hamburger patty, toast, chili, side of brown gravy.... - Burgers Near Me - Mountain Home, Arkansas

Rustic and casual, with free popcorn to much on, while you sip your beer! BTW, it is beer and wine only (no hard liquor)! Great deconstructed sandwiches! My wife had the Forty Woody Platter; a hamburger without the bun - made like a salad - great meat flavor. I loved the Railsplitter Plate; open-faced ham sandwich topped with cheesy fries (great flavor but could've used a bit more ham). Soft drinks, beer, wine, or wine-coolers. Reasonable prices and plenty of parking on-site. If they had liquor, it would be epic - but it is still good! read more

Excellent! This one of my favorite places to go! The food is amazing! The bar buster hamburger!, is delicious! Live there cauliflower and sweet potato fries! My grandson loves the shrimp poppers! I find eating here with my family costs less than even many drive through places! read more

This place is an ecoli poisoning waiting to happen. The hamburgers (a premade patty) sat in an open container behind the cash register, uncovered, not refrigerated or on ice, and looked as though they had sat there all day. Onion rings straight out of the box, nothing creative nor even close to hand-battered. For me, we will not return, and frankly, the health department needs to inspect for food temperature and required food handling guidelines. read more

If you miss the old school down home flavorful burgers. This place might look a bit old on the outside. Do not let that fool you! These burgers are to die for! If you are craving a great burger. You must try this place!! So well worth it! Oh and if you have a awesome boyfriend like mine. He will take you here! Oh and service.. Too fast and great too! Just remember.. Had lunch here today with my hubby Bob. We each had the Barn buster 1/2 lb burger w cheese. We shared 1/2 orders of beer battered onion rings, breaded mushrooms & steak fries. Our server was very nice and checked on us often. Our fries came out late so she took them off the bill. We both thought that was very nice. If you want a good burger in Mountain Home, Ar I recommend The Back Forty or Colton's. These are freshly made burgers not frozen. read more

My first time here was 33 years ago and the burgers haven't changed and are the best around. Service is always good, love the atmosphere(has an older bar vibe). When I want a great burger and cold beer, when in the Mountain Home area, this is my first choice. read more

Took my elderly parents here for their first time, along with my usual gang, we've been coming for years. Nice to know, it's the same great burgers as always. You know the burger will be good when you're asked " how do you want it cooked?" We enjoyed mushrooms and okra for appetizers and Barnbuster Burgers, with an assortment of Fries, Onion Rings and Sweet Potato Fries. Service was wonderful too. read more

I wouldn't say it's a great burger, but it's the best one you'll find in this town. It is a good burger though and the staff are friendly! Fair price! read more

Burgers were delicious and done medium just like we asked. Food was ready and cost about the same as fast food but better!

This local staple has been open since 1980 and has one of the finest cheeseburgers I've ever eaten. Simple food, simple menu, but fantastic food and staff. If you are in the area, you can't not visit. read more

Great juicy burger (barn buster) cooked just the way I like it medium well, awesome fresh potato fries, free popcorn while you wait, COLD beer, clean bathrooms... they were very clean especially for an after lunch crowd, attentive staff, fast service, friendly staff and patrons. It appears it's back to the quality Back Forty we all knew and loved, or it was last week when I was there! Going back to being a regular! COVID knocked a lot of us for a loop and stayed out of restaurants for a couple years! We're Back! read more

Great place, if your looking for a great hamburger there's is like the way hamburgers were once made. 1/3 pound of flavor. There chicken sandwich is dynamite also. Served in a hamburger bun with all the fixing's. Try there onion rings, regular or beer battered, there both the best I have ever had. Service is great and it like stepping back in time when you walk in. read more

Best burgers in town by far. Excellent food & service. Favorite dining for locals. Highly recommend!

Over all the best tasting burgers, that I don't have to grill myself,I've been eating there since the 80s,and it's still a treat,I love the good onion as much as the burger,Thank you for a great place to eat. read more

Waited over an hour. I only ordered an appetizer and a small salad. Rest of our group has burgers. No one was thrilled with our food. It probably would have been a better experience if it didn't take so long to get food. And it's a Thursday night. read more

Don't believe the hype. The burgers are nothing special, the rest of the menu is marginal at best. The locals told us to not miss this place but I don't understand why. Server was new but not trained. Bathroom was filthy. read more

Good service, very friendly. Their stuffed mushrooms are amazing. Free popcorn is always a plus.

Locally, its a real favorite but I daresay it's a bit overrated. The Barn Buster burger is good, but not 8 dollars good. Sorry, it's just not. I ordered a steak sandwich once and it was totally meh. The best thing I've actually ever ordered were the jalapeno poppers, but hey those are good at Sonic too, so... Decent place to have a few beers. read more

Classic dive bar with delicious food. The food quality is consistent and all the sandwiches/burgers are flavorful, never disappoint, and always with fresh vegetables and buns. Interesting appetizers and great steak fries! read more

Not too bad! The food had a fair taste and the service was nice. The food seemed to be a little slow to get to our table, but maybe I was just extra hungry and lost track of time? Anyway, I'll probably want to come back here next time I'm in town! read more

All I gotta say is get the barn buster! This one is one of those juicy hole in the wall, diamond in the rough good burgers. Appetizers are awesome too. Great staff too and good prices. read more

The food is good the Ozark fries are made fresh. Not frozen. Hamburgers are good and they will cook them the way you like them. I like mine medium well. They have a few games in the back pinball the crane game. They have free popcorn while you wait for your food. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. All in all a good experience. Simple hamburger joint so don't think you're going to get anything fancy. But sometimes simple is best. If we are ever back in Mountain Home I'd go back. read more

Wife and I stopped by while in town on vacation. Looked like a nice family owned restaurant. Not disappointed food was good for a good price. read more

Used to eat here a lot. Boycotted it several months ago. The barnbuster used to be the best burger around here. Now it's same price but lower quality. After eating here for well over 10 years i go in one day, we order and eat. We go to pay and now all of a sudden they don't take credit or debit cards. It's not posted, and no one told us or the people coming in behind us. So I was forced to use their atm they have and got charged an extra 5 bucks to take out 20 bucks. I heard it changed ownership, if so, these people do not care about the customer and made it obvious. read more

Solid. Atmosphere is just what I'm looking for on the road. I hate chain restaurants. Open since 1980, and the JUKEBOX has just the right music. Worth a try. read more

We have heard raves about the big burgers. We thought theirs were half pound and my guys weren't very hungry so they decided to split one. Wrong choice! I ended up eating half and giving them a quarter of mine so they ended up with three quarters of a burger each. GET YOUR OWN BURGER! It did take awhile to get our food but it was a good burger. read more
