I'm on the highway traveling and decided it was lunch time. Saw a sign on the highway for a nearby Village Inn so here I am. This is actually one of the nicer villages that I've been in. I don't think it's new but it looks very updated. I was seated promptly and the waitress showed up a couple minutes later. I ordered a Denver omelette, which came with two sides and I chose well done hashbrowns and three pancakes. The pancakes were absolutely delicious. Very light and fluffy and they just had a great taste. The hashbrowns were done to my specifications. The omelette? Well, somebody needs to tell the kitchen that an omelette is not supposed to look like scrambled eggs which is exactly how it looked. I can't complain about the taste or the ingredients, but seriously, but what I was served was scrambled eggs with ham, onions, green peppers and cheese, not an omelette. When we arrived the place was nice and good smelled good. However once we were seated our waitress took our order and never came back to check on is once. The food arrived late but they were busy so I don't hold that to them but my ham steak was under cooked and my French toast was burnt on one side and not cooked on the other side. If you are indigenous or African do not eat here they are not welcoming at all. read more

We were very pleased with our turkey, cornbread dressing and mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of cranberry sauce take home dinner today. I absolutely should add that the biscuit was stellar and I could tell it was made from scratch. Everything was top notch. I was craving a turkey dinner and there are not very many places that offer it. So I was delighted to find you had it available and even more happy that it was so very good. There was a good amount of food available, and I have leftovers. My husband, however,, ate all of his happily. We also got two sugar-free apple pies. What a treat. My new favorite place for FISH. Tried the fried cod platter and it was amazing. Cooked crispy and light. It came with side, so I chose a nice side salad, it was more like a dinner portion, fries and garlic bread. Always take home leftovers. Servers are nice, but busy. Food comes out quickly. read more

Wait staff sat us. She took our drink order. Took 3 trips to bring 2 coffees and 2 waters. We waited. A couple of other groups came in and were seated. Same waitress gave them drinks. We waited. Waitress then came back and took orders for the other customers. She walked by us several times with no interaction. Came here by accident and was really glad we did! Village Inn, I believe, is a regional chain with a menu similar to IHOP or Shoneys or the (now defunct) Sambo's. We came for dinner and intended to follow up for breakfast the following morning (breakfast didn't happen). First, this place looks like an IHOP inside with booths and tables, sound-muting carpet and a low-key lighting. It's pleasant. Service at this location was fantastic -- from the host to our server, we felt important. I had the Friday fish special (all-u-can-eat), which is billed as "white fish." Being from the deeper South, I was just happy that it wasn't catfish, though I'm not sure whether it was pollock or tilapia. Either way, it was battered and fried and showed up with hot fries and cool slaw. Excellent for the price. My wife and son, as is usually the case, went a little lighter with their meals. She had a Reuben sandwich and he had a turkey sandwich of some sort. Both looked appealing, and they said the (sandwiches) were delicious. What got me though was the lettering on the wall about this place serving the best pies in the country. I told our server "I'll be the judge of that" before I decided on the caramel pecan. My son ordered the same thing; my wife ordered the strawberry Hawaiian. Best in the country? I'm not sure. But the pie here is certainly the best I've had in a while, and could win a contest at just about any county fair in America. Not only did the filling taste like the name (caramel and chocolate -- many pies are just cloyingly sweet and have no real flavor other than ... sweet), the crust was as flaky as I've ever had outside of a homemade version. As excellent as everything was, I'm disappointed that our plans changed and we couldn't have breakfast here the following morning. If dinner was any indication, it would have been one of my best restaurant breakfasts in a long long time. read more

Today was our second time being at the restaurant, and it was as good as I remembered from the first time. The staff was excellent, friendly, and happy. The food was excellent. I had the waffle with apples. The apples were warm; the waffle was cook perfect with crispy edges. The syrup was good, not watery or artificial tasting. They have a gluten free menu. Several options. The Ultimate skillet has tons of flavor and will fill you up before you can even get to the 3 pancakes that come with it. The biscuits and gravy comes with 2 large biscuits and tons of gravy. Plus a sausage patty. The Cobb salad had a good portion of each topping. Come in Wed and you get a free slice of pie! My companion and I visited on Sunday around noon. It was obvious that they were still recovering from the last "rush", so we expected a little wait to get a table cleared off. The server was a very nice young lady and also very efficient. The wait for our order was about what I would expect, taking into account that any restaurant needs a recovery period when dealing with the after church mobs. The food? Well, yea, it was standard breakfast fare, nothing special, but everything looked and tasted OK. We ordered 2 different egg dishes, but all the sides were the same. The usual hash browns with the usual "off-tasting" grease, and a biscuit with gravy. Not anything complicated. The problem? We both got sick an hour or so after leaving. After an event like this, I can make myself crazy trying to figure out what it was; was it the eggs, how about the lukewarm gravy, dirty silverware?? Whatever it was, it got both of us, and I can overlook a lot of things, but food safety should always be a priority, so we will be having breakfast elsewhere in the future. How could this be? My son and I ordered the lunch special of 1/2 Rueben and fries. When the orders arrived, we each had about 10 French fries each, along with the sandwich. The sandwich itself, looked okay. However, upon the first bite, a rancid taste from the meat along with an austere odor ruined the sandwich I had been looking forward to. Don't let the 60's-looking sign & exterior scare you away...this place is awesome. Try the incredible adult grilled cheese (buttery with parmesan crusted toast) or the chicken fried steak skillet (cfs, gravy, hash browns, topped with 2 eggs AND a side of 3 pancakes, or substitute their amazing French toast). I went here yesterday, and the service is still pretty crappy. A table over there was a complaint about their food being undercooked, the waitress' response was to freeze and not know what to do and ask if she should get the manager. Duh!! Get the manager!!! They also forgot the cheese on my boyfriends omelet and some other items as well when bring out the food. Could definitely improve. But as always the food is pretty good. Great breakfasts and decent prices here. While breakfast is what it's likely known for, the PM food is pretty darn good too. In the ten or so times I've been there, the service is just right. Friendly Ozark natives (or maybe not natives, but they seem like it) who are prompt and attentive when it's not too crowded. I have no idea why, but the men's room is so big you could roller skate in it. Someone should give the architect of the building a refresher course on use of space. If I'm in the neighborhood and hungry for gold old American food, they'll get my business almost every time. Oh, and free wifi too! read more

We have been going to Village Inn Ozark for over ten years, averaging 3 - 4 times a month. The staff, as a whole, is very good & always friendly. The food is always good, and usually is very fast coming out of the kitchen. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED to see that they had discontinued serving Coca-Cola products in favor of the other brand. I love the Village Inn in Ozark! This is our go to breakfast place. They have great breakfasts, reasonable prices and they keep your coffee cup filled to the brim with hot delicious coffee. I've been going long enough to recognize the wait staff and these guys and gals have it going on. Fast, efficient service. All Village Inns are not created equal but lucky for us this VI reigns supreme! The staff is great, the coffee pretty decent, and the food scrumptious! Village Inn seems to always have the best breakfast. At this location I tried the new Spinach Bacon omelette. It was tasty! The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean. It did seem like some of the seating was cramped which is the reason for the 4 stars. Other than that it was a great place right off the highway. My family and I eat here frequently-the service is outstanding-everyone is friendly from the hostess, the servers, to the management!! Love to come for breakfast-where you can order an omelet, country potatoes and wheat toast!! The pancakes and french toast are great as well!! For lunch or dinner I love the Reuben sandwich and onion rings, or the Fish dinner-one of the few places that has Bleu Cheese dressing!! Great menu options!! And lets not forget about the pies!!
