Menu for the week we visited and a Manhattan. The drink was delicious.

We had an amazing dinner recently at Harvest. It was our first visit. The restaurant is a little away from the city but in a great location. The atmosphere is awesome. I really liked the art on the walls and the rustic elegance of the dining space. Service was impeccable. All our waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered focaccia bread and the tuna tartare as a starter. The focaccia bread was so tasty we ate it all before I could get a picture. The tuna tartare was impeccable. Fresh, sweet, salty, and refreshing are all words I would use to describe it. For the main course, my husband had the steak and chimichurri. I ordered the Black Sea Bass. Both of our main dishes were delicious. We did not have dessert but we will be back and look forward to many more meals at this wonderful establishment.

Appetizer - Monkfish with Oyster Mushrooms on Lentils

We attended one of Harvest's Dinner in the Orchard, which is certainly more about the experience than it is about the food, although the food is an added bonus. You must purchase a ticket online ahead of time, and they do sell out! When you arrive you'll be seated at a long, family style table in the middle of their apple orchard. They hang up string lights and decorate the table and really set a beautiful atmosphere. It was nice to meet new people at our table and chat with them throughout the meal. There are 5 courses and an optional wine pairing that comes with each course - which I suggest you do - and you can buy an extra bottle or two to enjoy. We began with the Hors D'oeuvre which was various types of tinned fish on crackers or some type of vegetable with a white wine pairing. This course was okay if you enjoy tinned fish, but it wasn't spectacular. Next was the appetizer which was Monkfish with fried oyster mushrooms served on a bed of lentils with a white wine pairing. I really enjoyed this course, it was light and fresh and the mushrooms had an excellent salty and umami flavor. The first main was duck breast with chutney with a red wine pairing. The chutney and duck were a perfect match of rich meaty flavor with the light and sweet chutney. The duck was a little overcooked, I prefer it to be a true medium rare. The second main was venison served on top of pureed parsnips with a red wine pairing. The venison was excellent and perfectly cooked and it didn't have an overly gamey flavor. The parsnips were hit or miss at our table, some liked them, and others felt they were too sweet. The last course was dessert which was an authentic Honduran sweet bread dessert served with local honey ice cream and berries with a sweet white wine pairing. The dessert left something to be desired, it was like just eating stale bread with ice cream, but I really enjoyed the wine served with this. Overall, the food was interesting and experimental, but the flavors just weren't the best. Additionally, the service wasn't great either. Most of the servers were very young and seemed to have very little training. They would interrupt your conversation to ask to take your plate, they would reach over you, they entirely skipped over us a few times when serving our wine and they would grab your glass when it still had some drink in it. Honestly, I think with a little training their service could improve immensely. To wrap up this long review, I quite enjoyed my overall experience at Harvest, but I do see a lot of room for improvement. If you're looking for something out of the norm, this might be a good try for you!

I consider myself an advocate for this restaurant. I don't talk that lightly, and this is one of the few restaurants I recommend to everyone I see. It's about a 10 minute drive from springfield, but well worth it. My top 2 restaurants in the greater springfield area. Service is wonderful Food is impeccable 5/5

I will entrust my next gastronomic affaire in the blessed culinary hands of Chef von Forrester & his front of house wife who commandingly runs the whole show sweetly with aplomb! And, boy oh boy, what a fine, fine show! When I return, and I will, it must be at one of Chef's dégustation sittings where I put my faith in whatever of the 9-13 courses he deigns to send table side on handmade, funky-colored pottery dish ware by a staff of such young, capable, & comely servers! Our large party of 16 savored each tick of the clock for nearly 3 1/2 hours of uninterrupted, tantalizing bliss! My recommended highlights off the menu were: 1) SQUASH BLOSSOMS ($12), 2) CIOPPINO (Seafood in broth, $14), and; 3) PAPPARDELLE WITH CHANTERELLES & CAULIFLOWER ($26). Bring your own wine & pay a $20 corkage fee. Bring your own wine & buy a bottle from the house, then the fee is waived. Take a stroll before your entree arrives while it's still in the gloaming through their Orchards or just around the covered porches with their glittered lights--romantic points shall be lavished upon you, dude! Only slight annoyance was how loud the ambiance was--but that could've been our party & I'm pretty sure it was! Yep, "Feed Me Seymour"...I mean CHEF!!!

Food was amazing and the chef sent a few surprises for us to try. We sat on the porch and it was a lovely evening with great food!

I will not drag the competition, but Dublin's Pass was the clear winner. I won't use specifics, but you get so much more bang for your buck, purely from a financial aspect. Let me first say, the eggs arrive on a plate with a light breading that adds the perfect balance of crunch yet balanced with the soft egg. All brought to you with a mustard that is the perfect combination of pickled veg and punchy mustard. The meat was cooked perfectly. The combination between the meat, egg and mustard marry one another beautifully to lend to a flavor roller coaster in your mouth. What really sets these Scotch eggs apart is the attention to detail. They taste like they are meant for a flavor rollercoaster. Each element feels intentional. Whether you're a longtime Scotch egg lover or trying one for the first time, this restaurant sets the bar high. Simply put: these are the Scotch eggs other places should be aspiring. Eggs aside, we also had an order of the boneless wings. Not a hard thing to get right, but we had roasted garlic parmesan with garlic aioli, to die for. I am from out of town, and this place is absolutely a must. It will never not be on to do list.

The inside looks like a dive bar and a basic cafe combined. Meager looking tables, chairs and booths with second rate condiments on the tables (who's ever heard of Red Gold Ketchup). The waitresses are pleasant. If you are looking to fill up on basic bar food then perhaps you will enjoy and be the type to give a 5 star rating like others have. For me, it's a 2 star rating. My meal, two pieces of white meat, coleslaw, mash potatoes and Texas Toast for $9.95! Large portions of delicious juicy fried chicken golden brown, buttery creamy mash potatoes with gravy from scratch and cream coleslaw with just enough sweetness. The meal was so large I ended up bringing half of my chicken home. Husband had the pork tenderloin. It was double the size of most tenderloins in most restaurants. The condiments, Red Gold has been around from the 1940's, and family owned. Information on this U.S. business is some of the portion used from purchasing Red Gold products is given to support the hungry, disaster relief and the U.S. military. The restaurant looks like it use to be a bar with a pool table at one time. There is still the divider on the bar a section for the waitresses, large mirror behind the bar on the wall, the ceiling and the old beer light towards the back lead me to believe this. We were looking for a nice looking atmosphere restaurant. We were looking for a place with good food. The staff was friendly, prices were very reasonable. These days you can't find a restaurant with great, large down home cooking for two plus drinks for under$35. We will be back, maybe for the walleye special on Wednesday.
