Love love love!! All of it! Go try it! The service was great. We were there around five o'clock, so it wasn't super busy. The food my god was delicious. And I liked how you can get the sides as your dinner, and there's still so much food.It was amazing. The music and the look of the place was a lot like Mardi Gras. So much fun.We will continue to go there.

Beef Po Boy
Donn D.

The Beef Po Boy was pretty good. Full of flavor with all the Cajun spices required for a Big Easy experience. While there I was amused because they have an add on of The Holy Trinity. So naturally I had to ask the guy at the counter what that was. He looked puzzled so he turned to the boss behind the grill and said 'Yo, what's the Holy Trinity?' Everything in the kitchen stopped and the boss looked at him and said in disbelief 'You BETTER know what the Holy Trinity is!" Then turned to me and said said 'Onions, peppers and celery'. Pretty sure the guy had his pay docked that day.

Oyster po'boy and homemade chips.

The food was generally southern Missouri imitation attempts of Cajun food. Etoufee was okay. Got medium spice level and that was about right. Other dishes at the table were the club sandwich, the big easy Cajun burger, fried shrimp dinner, and an oyster po'boy. French fries, sweet potatoes, hush puppies, and slaw were good. Homemade potato chips on 2 of the orders were awful. They were way overcooked! Oysters were okay. Have to admit to a great disappointment as we took our daughter and grandkids there to celebrate our daughter's birthday. There basically was no service except orders delivered to the table. A sign greets you saying to order at the counter. I don't have a problem with that but you fetch your own drinks as well. The ambiance is typical fast food restaurant. I really don't imagine going back there.

Jambalaya with dirty rice.

I was looking for something new and stumbled upon Big Easy Grill. It was a rainy day so, gumbo and jambalaya sounded like some good comfort food options. I ordered the chicken & sausage gumbo dirty and the jambalaya spicy. Both dishes had good flavor and were enjoyable however, the spicy jambalaya was my favorite and had multiple layers of flavor that popped with every bite. The service was good, the food was great and the decor/ ambiance was lack luster. I give my ratings on those three components giving the most weight of the rating to the food followed by service and lastly the ambiance/decor. I would recommend giving this place a try for sure.

Food quality has gone down significantly. I called back to tell them about my opinion of the quality and taste. I asked if they changed ownership or food suppliers, she turned out to be the owner and told me everything "looked fine" and her and her husband have owned it for 18 years and they use the same supplier. Last time we were there I got the etouffe and it had so much tomato paste it was also awful and I left most of that on my plate that time. The lady who was our waitress (who I now know was the owner) didn't follow up that time to see how everything was or WHY I left 90% of my dinner on my plate. I should have taken that as my warning. The tartar sauce looks like it is made with bottom of the barrel mayo with along with a small serving of their awful "homemade marinated DILL pickles", as she emphasized on the phone. They were the same SWEET pickles that they used as their fried pickles (which were also gross). The catfish also tasted very fake. Maybe it was just a different cook tonight, but this food is trash in comparison to what it was about a year ago. Save your money and go elsewhere where your money and opinions are taken a little more seriously.

Seafood Gumbo

If you are looking for a good Cajun food in Springfield Mo, Big Easy Grill is the place to go. My favorite are the seafood gumbo and dirty jambalaya!! The flavors are very rich and super good, u can taste the Cajun seasoning. Their po boys are good too. I usually order the shrimp pi boy. Can't go wrong with it. Bread is freshly made and the shrimp are delicious!! They have many more different entrees on the menu, but these dishes are my favorite! The restaurant is very casual, decorate with Mardi Gras and jewels and alligators which are super fun. Feels like you are in Louisiana with the jazzy music in the background. Very neat place, a must try if you crave Cajun Food.

Do they serve alligator? Alligator nuggets? Alligator tail? Any gator?

Unfortunately not. I was a little disappointed myself, but maybe one day they will expand the menu!

I usually don't leave reviews without eating the food, but I just couldn't get past everything that went wrong before that. 1. They were out of just about everything "which can be good sometimes." But this was in a bad way. Like they just didn't order anything. The guy who took our order was extremely nice, but he kept his cooking gloves on the whole time he took our order, and handled our money. Then another guy came out of the back in a tank top that was completely stained and looked filthy. In fact the entire place looked dingy and disgusting. The soda was completely out at the machine, and the carpet in front of the machine was so sticky it pulled off my wife's shoe!!! We asked for a refund because we just weren't feeling it, and the guy gave us a refund and was extremely apologetic... I gave them two stars because we didn't eat there otherwise they would have gotten a zero strictly for their lack of cleanliness and lack of supplies. They really need to be on the ball since another soul food place opened not far from them and is way better.

Had this place come to our work. Looks like a husband and wife team, knocking out some pretty good…read morefried fish! - The fish: The batter appears to be a cornmeal base. Out of the fryer, they dust the fish with some blend of seasonings, that's fairly flavorful. My personal preference would be to have it applied heavier...or possibly have a second option...to dust your fish with a Cajun or cyan based seasoning. The fish is cut in strips; I assume to be able to cook faster. And the fish is cooked quite a bit; I'd like less fry time. But no matter; the fish is still quite good cooked as it is. - Fries: These are a base Kringle cut fries. They cook these more...which I like the doneness level of their fries. - Dipping sauces: Their tartar sauce is a homemade tartar. Fresh pickles chopped up and added in the sauce. And a fair amount of dill...all make for a smoother tasting tartar. The second sauce....not sure how to describe this one....but a slightly smokey....nice second option of a dipping sauce. If the owners want a humble suggestion: I would suggest having a second side with the combo meal. Why? For $12 price of the combo, it would be a better value. But the other big advantage of the second side: It would help cut all the fried taste, from the fish and fries. Further suggestion: Look up the Neely sweet and spicy cole slaw recipe on the Food Network. Overall, I give these folks kudos for their efforts. Working out of food truck...not always easy to turn out great food in small quarters. But....these folks are doing it well!
