First visit for my family and me. Used to TexMex and wasn't sure what to expect but it was really good! Server was very friendly and he didn't rush us. The place wasn't fancy but very comfortable and not too noisy. We had fajitas, a quesadilla and I wanted a chili relleno with shredded chicken but it was only available with cheese so I opted for the Don Pedro burrito with shredded chicken. It was very good! I tried to use my Willard community coupon card that says that we get a free cheese dip at this restaurant, but the server said they were told too no longer accept it. They could not give me a reason why. I'm not sure how you stop accepting a card like that when it says it's expiration is July 31. Also, we found a hair in our food. read more

We tried again to hit the Himalayan Grill on the way back from another ballgame but it was shuttered on Tuesdays. So, we had to pick an alternative on the way back to SGF. We decided on Don Pedro because it was new to us after years of hitting El Charro. The exterior belies the ample space inside the restaurant. The place was packed on a Tuesday night but we got what seemed to be the last booth. I really was surprised at their seating capacity. The ambiance was decidedly local and everyone from families with small children & babies to a more mature genre were having a good meal & a great time. Our waiter did what he was supposed to do tho not the most outgoing. Of course, he was working his hind end off to get the food out to all of his tables & no one waited or wanted for anything. I had the four Street Tacos dinner which I thought I read contained a combination of meats in different soft tortillas. The wife had the Enchiladas Maria with avocados while my granddaughter had a T-Bone, medium rare, with Fries which she gobbled down. The food - from the salsa to the rice & beans - was good. I noticed my wife's beans were refried while mine were whole in juices...very good! I had a Margaretta which was stout & tasty but with a bit too heavy of mix. The chips were average while the sauce was flavorful & "warmish" which I liked, differing from the usual blander style elsewhere. There are several Mexican restaurants in SGF with equal or better food but Don Pedro's surprised me. It was a nice find in Republic and will likely be a go-to if activities take me that way. A solid, good experience I think you can likely bank on. The locals seem to embrace it with good reason. read more

Our fist visit was in 2021 and we ordered to go. Everything was nicely packed and everything tasted delicious. They included complimentary chips and salsa. The cheese dip was also delicious, not runny just right. 2022, we decided to dine in after the Christmas parade. We had a regular margarita and a virgin strawberry blended margarita, hit the spot. The waiter was very friendly, he brought us a delicious spicier salsa for our chips and meal. I decided to try the coconut shrimp tacos with the side of mango salsa. They were delicious, I also added some of the spicy salsa so it was a mixture of spicy and a little sweet. The crunchy coconut was delicious on the shrimp. We also ordered chicken fajitas and an order of carne asada. Everything was delicious, well cooked and flavorful. We had a great afternoon, the staff was very attentive with everyone in the restaurant. read more

The staff was friendly and the service was good. The restaurant look clean and well kept. My problem was the food. I ordered the fish tacos and they were just so so. The fish was cut into small pieces, almost like they had purchased it that way to save money. Normally the fish is one taco size piece. The fish taco sauce was like a weird thousand island dressing. It was very different than the other restaurants that I've ordered fish tacos at before. WOW! We have lived in Republic for over a year now, and I am sad to say this was our first experience. We come from Carthage (El Charro loyal), so we were excited to hear there was an El Charro here, too. This evening I wanted street tacos, so we went to Don Pedro's, and boy let me tell you, we will not be going anywhere else! We have been won over!! Everything was AMAZING. The approval groans and happy plates were all I needed to see to know this will forever be our go to! Sorry El Charro, but it seems you have some stepping up to do! Chicken fajitas: not great quality chicken, the sauce was salty Chili relleno: not much cheese, the sauce had a bland flavor, like melted American cheese, we think the entire pepper was microwaved because there was a piece of it that was maybe cheese...?...and it was hard, tough to get through. Found this Mexican restaurant located in the Market Place strip mall between Classic Rock Coffee and Republic Dental-just off Highway 60 in Republic. It's East of the Walmart and across from Lowe's. They have plenty of seating for families including booths and lots of tables with chairs. There are Four TVs in the dining areas. The menu is extensive with just about any combination you can think of. Lunch is from 11-3. Lunch Menu Prices were from $5.99 to $8.49. They serve Pepsi products for drink menu. Service was fast, efficient, and friendly. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Servers not wearing masks. We will definitely be back! Give them a try! read more

My family and I are Missouri residents so we don't shy away from trying new places. However when visiting Republic, we decided to try Don Pedro Grill on a whim to give a new place a chance. The moment we walked in we felt uninvited due to the lack of not being there every day of the week. They serve regulars and treat familiar faces (to which their client base is all regulars from how the waitresses talked to everyone) like royalty and "outsiders" with a void of emotion. Our waitress did refill our chips and drinks but she had no personality or inviting feeling so we felt unwelcome. The rest of the staff was the same way and were talkative to the regulars and themselves rather than treating us with the same common courtesy that we showed them. The food... was nothing special to which I could cook something better in the air fryer at home rather than what we ate. The chips tasted like cold taco shells that were served yesterday. The salsa tasted like cheap store bought generic product that left a sour taste on the tongue. Even the soft drinks tasted old! the main entrees were also cold and tasted like processed retirement food muck. I myself ordered a steak enchilada which resembled a pebble sized cut steak with a tortilla that was drier than a desert. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone especially if you don't go there all the time. The fact that they still are in business baffles me. Only due to the regulars keeping the lights on. The Hawaiian fajitas were so good I almost started crying!!!!! Service was awesome. Margarita was huge and one of the best I've had in a while (and I've been to Mexico 2 times in the last month!). Super surprised to see a place like this in republic. Highly recommend!! read more

We have eaten a lot of Tex Mex, as former Texans living just north of Houston. We have tried it all and Don Pedro is our favorite. We love cilantro, ranchero beans, molcajete prepared salsas, quacamole and fajitas, and some heat! We even ask for sopapillas tonight and they were divine. If you want bland, regional modified Mexican cuisine, this is not the place. Order the Tex Mex Fajitas or Molcajete Fajitas and don't be afraid to roll the fajitas up and eat them with your hands. I say this because I was born and raised in Spfd MO and married a Texan. I was taught to eat fried chicken with a fork and knife, but quickly changed my ways. Although the fajitas for two are just fine, go for something more adventurous. The margaritas are also fantastic! We like ours on the rocks, lime, salt/no salt for me. Enjoy! DO NOT GET THE CHICKEN AND STEAK!!! Seriously, it says 8oz ribeye. You're lucky if it's 4oz. And I asked for medium rare. A piece of lowry's jerky would've been more tender. I have had their enchiladas before, they're ok. But I was starving tonight and thought I'd splurge a little. They bring the steak on a sizzling hot plate so IF it was medium rare, you've got jerky by the time it gets to you anyways. I added a star because the service is really good as well as the chips and salsa. Otherwise, maybe stick to the region of food advertised. Very disappointed in the plate.
