Now the food was excellent, big portions and delicious flavor, it was the service that left something to be desired. Out of all the places my in-laws could have chosen to spend their 60th wedding anniversary, they chose here, and I was very displeased by the level of service we received. In a party of 10, more than were in the whole restaurant, we were treated like we were less than valued customers. No drink refills, when I tried to ask for more salsa I was rudely interrupted and told "we have other things to do we'll get to you when we get to you" I would've given this establishment 1 star but the food was actually really delicious. bruh, I was really hoping for some authentic mexican food when I came here and I was very disappointed to see that the selection on the menu was very limited and there wasn't anything on there that was less than $11. The chips came in a small bowl and we were given small containers of salsa. I ordered some tacos de asada (3 tacos and some rice and beans for $15!!!) and the steak was unbelievably chewy and dry. the tortillas were also falling apart. They also added onions and cilantro on my taco rather than having it as an optional side that can be added as desired. The bathroom was unsanitary and there were a variety of issues that seemed to be unattended:!the stalls were coming off the walls, tiles were missing from the floor, and a chunk of the mirror was broken off and left exposed. The only redeeming aspect of that restaurant is the staff, the waiter that tended to us was very polite and made sure to ask if there was anything we needed. First time visit to this fine Mexican restaurant. Went at 11:00 AM on a Sunday morning. We were seated immediately and given a chance to look the menu over. Chips and salsa were provided just moments after we got our drinks. Husband ordered taco salad and I got the chicken and spinach enchiladas that came with beans and rice. My husband's reaction was "this is the best taco salad I've ever eaten!" I enjoyed my dish a lot but couldn't eat everything. I wound up giving a big part of the rice to my husband and he loved it. The restaurant isn't large but was arranged well and the booths were comfortable. Server was efficient and did a good job. We definitely will be going back. read more

Fantastic Mexican food -- the best in Springfield. The people are real and very nice. It's old and dated, but clean. We go for the food. Chips are excellent. Salsa is good, but I've had better. The burritos, enchiladas are exceptional. Prices are fair -- pre Covid they were the best value in the city! The sauces are perfect. La Hacienda doesn't short-change you on the fillings in your taco, enchilada or burrito. I just can't say enough good about this place. I was ANGRY when the owner (who I do not know) was seriously taken advantage of at a local hospital that billed for tens of thousands of dollars needlessly. It's a good affordable stop if you're in the mood for Springfield Tex-Mex. I went here with my Dad and a friend of his for a Sunday afternoon lunch. The place was packed which was a great sign! Since it was so busy, the service was a bit slow but it was obvious it wasn't for lack of trying; our server was hustling from table to table and the bussers were making certain chips and salsa were out, tables were cleaned, and helping serve main entrees behind the servers. Don't take the 3 star rating for a bad sign. I'm going by the Yelp subtitles: it was, in fact, A-OK. I ordered veggie enchiladas and they were a little on the salty side, but that didn't stop me from eating them. My dad and friend ordered margaritas and they loved them. The queso dip was perfectly fine: a touch runnier than I prefer, but the flavor was there. Nothing was out-of-the-ball-park amazing, but nothing was certainly bad either. Again: A-OK. La Hacienda was very accommodating for large groups, so if needed, I'd recommend this for an outing. I'd be back, but I'm not in a hurry or making it a priority. read more

I frequented this restaurant for YEARS, and now, after a bad service experience, I will never to go back. I opened my to-go container, and it was like someone flipped my container multiple times smearing sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapenos all over the container.  The grease did have time to settle, though, underneath my quesadilla, and took MULTIPLE paper towels to wipe it up.  Unfortunately, my food was saturated by grease (it literally felt wet).  I know I wasn't getting a salad, but I also didn't order a bowl of grease soup.  I should also mention that my salsa was in a container upside down in the bag.  Thank God it didn't spill.   I called to let them know what happened - it's not normal for this place.  Instead of apologizing or offering solutions (refund, coupon, literally, ANYTHING), I was told grease happens because of ingredients and he'd let the kitchen know. I was disappointed to not have a lunch I had been craving for weeks.  I was disappointed to splurge on lunch out, by myself, and not be able to eat it.  But most of all, as a kind, polite, faithful good tipper and supporter of this restaurant, I am most disappointed this is how they treat those who rooted for them. read more

My husband and I have eaten here quite a few times. Our food has always been prompt and very tasty ! The service can sometimes be a little slow as they seem to sit in the bar area and watch t.v. a lot, but we would still go back for sure ! The food most definitely makes up for the sometimes slow service. I try something new every time I go and have yet to be unhappy with the meal. So it's my first time in Springfield and I've been looking around for authentic Mexican restaurant and I just can't see to find one that hits the spot. I'm from California so it's definitely a different taste when it comes to Mexican food. I ordered the 3 carne asada taco plate the rice was a little over cooked and the carne Asada tacos where very very bland. The meat was burnt and it had no flavor, it had too much cilantro and the onion weren't even mixed in with the meat. The lady's didn't give me no type of green or red sauce for my tacos. Mexican food is all about flavor and spices and I didn't get any of that. Sadly. I'm just starting to think Mexican food outside of California and Mexico is just not worth to get. read more

The owner and his family are great. My only complaint: who puts pepper in the salsa? That is WRONG. Sauce for chips should have: tomatoes, onion, cilantro, pinch of salt and fresh garlic -- add some peppers if you want (red peppers or any kind of pepper you prefer).
