I know that it's kinda rough for restaurants to deal with all the craziness of the times. I have loved this place but I am growing tired of our take out being either completely wrong (as in we didn't order any of it) or missing items. 1st Time, no big deal. Second time, maybe a bad day. BUT after calling in an order and being told it will be ready in 20 min and 45 min later, walking out to car and realizing, this is not all our order. Open bag, one dinner is missing. Go back in and be questioned and told, "I put it in there", "let me look in bag". I had JUST walked out. I was parked right in front. So I wasn't even gone 5 min. That was it. I never complained when I got a completely different meal in the past. I have been patient. I have been supportive but I am out. 3 times plus the curt attitude? Nah. read more

Lunch on June 29th. Ordered Red Beans and Rice with Andouille Sausage and a side order of Seafood Gumbo. No flavor in the red beans, which should have a rich smoky flavor... the sausage was the same, zero flavor and again Andouille sausage should be heavily spiced and smoky flavored. I should point out a couple things.. I was just in NOLA in February the food was fantastic everywhere I went and my brother-in-law owned, managed and cooked in his own Cajun restaurant in Omaha Ne. Butsy Le Doux's. So I kind know my Cajun/Creole recipes. Again zero flavor in the main dish. The Seafood Gumbo was not like any kind of gumbo I've ever had. Typically it's a much thinker broth created from a dark chocolate brown roux. Today's broth was very watery... barely any flavor. Quarter way through the meal I asked at the counter for some hot sauce... Hoping for Crystal (aka "Louisiana's Pure Crystal Hot Sauce") because everyone who knows Cajun/Creole food knows this is the hot sauce to use.. was disappointed again! I think they were using Frank's.... Nonetheless I put some of this on both offerings... because it added heat and a bit of flavor I was able to finish my lunch. Overall very disappointed, some people really love this place, and that's fine, but for those who know, know not to go here. read more

Crawfish Etouffee...I'd never had Etouffee or crawfish before going to this place. I had no idea what to expect but my husband did and he loved it. That said, I think if all Crawfish Etouffee tastes like Big Easy Grill Etouffee I've found a new favourite dish. Buttery, tangy, comforting. I and my family will go back many times to have their food. This is comfort food Cajun style and I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

Truly thankful for the wonderful service and food we received. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids under 2. One kid was running around the restaurant and the other cried the whole time. The staff allowed my daughter to play with the decorative alligators they had and even had a bag of cookies to help keep her entertained while our food was being cooked. Our group of 10 came for dinner. We were seated in the back. Our waitress was super friendly and was willing to help with my hubby's gluten free needs. I remember back when they were that tiny place on Sunshine where you placed your order at the counter and hoped for a table to eat at. I kind of miss that place! It was fun to sit and watch them cook, and somehow it seems like the food tasted better on that smaller scale. I'm not saying the food isn't still good. I wouldn't rave about it, but it is good. The waitress stated they make the food to order, so it really wasn't a surprise when our food trickled out, and by the time I had my food the first people served were finished eating. So, thinking that if you're a big group, don't plan on eating all at once. And be prepared to be there awhile (don't go if you're on a tight schedule!). Stopped in to check out the new location and get our fix for southern seafood sated. The new place has loads more seating and a beefed up wait staff so good marks there. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and extra bread of course. Both were exactly how I like them. Lots of flavor in the sauce, plenty of mud bugs, and that flaky chewy bread to sop with. Puts a smile on my face every time. The lady really enjoyed her Shrimp Po-Boy as well. Prices are excellent and now so is the table side service. Yeah I'm a fan. read more

I'm born and raised from New Orleans, so my review might be bias, but this place truly let me down. I first walked in and felt a little more at home, and was greeted kindly. I got the muffelata, and while it made an okay sandwich, it certainly wasn't a muffelata. The workers asked if I wanted tomatoes or lettuce on it, and then asked if I wanted to add Cajun mustard. What?! Definitely not better than central grocery, not even close to Dimartino's. It came with fries and chips. The fries weren't bad, and reminded me of Da Wabbit, back at home. And the chips were decent once I added some salt to it. All in all, if you're looking to satisfy being home sick from NOLA, DONT HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS PLACE. I feel like I wasted $22. I am 100% cajun from south louisiana. I tried the restaurant last nite and didn't think it was very good. The sausage/chicken gumbo had no taste and was water thin. Also tried the crawfish etoufee spicy. They put a lot of cayenne pepper to give it more then a kick. Not very much crawfish either. I think the Chef is from North louisiana and not cajun. read more

Where to begin? We walked into an empty dining hall--which isn't always discouraging, but looking back, that should have been our queue to leave. When our food arrived, we kindly notified the server "Cole" that the rice & beans were flavorless & cold, that the sausage was burnt, and that if he could just take the meal back-- as to not risk the exact same outcome with a replacement dish. (At this point, he was snarky & rude, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt as we're all entitled to "bad days".) When the bill comes, we've been charged for said dish. I politely ask to have it removed and he scoffs: "I can't do that. It's a matter of subjectivity." Never in all my years of restaurant/event management have I heard such ridiculousness. What are you to do? We paid, had a good laugh at his "subjectivity" line, and will never be back. Catching the cook on an off-day is one thing, but being treated so rudely is not "subject" to interpretation. read more

I Ordered "to go" the pork tenderloin with chips. It was huge, needed 4 hands to hold it up to eat & I can't believe I ate the whole thing! Sooo delicious. I travel a lot, and this is good Cajun food. There were 4 of us in our party, tried oyster poor boy, catfish dinner, muffuletta and crawfish etouffee, had fried green tomatoes and bread pudding for desert. All good breading was nice and thin and crispy on the seafood. Waiter was Cole, at a boy. I never write reviews, but I just tried this restaurant in Springfield MO this evening for the first time and it was awesome! The family really liked the flavors and the portions were hearty. The service was very good and the cook made the food to order and taste. I would have given the place a five if they would have cleaned off the menus/tables after each customer had touch them due to the current health scares going on right now. Have frequented the Big Easy since we moved to the east side of town and discovered it about 1 1/2 years ago. Their new location east of 65 gives them more room and they can easily handle larger dining parties now. The shrimp etouffee is phenomenal but my friends love the catfish dinner with sweet potato fries, catfish po'boy, grilled chicken po'boy, chicken salad, muffuletta and the bread pudding is awesome too (if they aren't sold out ). The service is always great and we know we will enjoy a great meal within a reasonably timed visit. read more

Authentic New Orleans flavors! My favorite thing is the catfish dinner or the catfish po boy. They have great tartar sauce too! The sweet potato fries that come with the cat fish dinner are excellent and are dusted with cinnamon and sugar. The hush puppies (which I usually don't care for) are flavorful and delicious as well. The jambalaya is also great and if you ask for it spicy they actually make it the way you want it. The new location is bigger and better and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The price is right for the portions too. A great place all around! read more

Crawfish Étouffée has very little to do with the real dish - it's just a bowl of tomato sauce with cream and few crawfish tails. Gumbo was a little better but still very far from original. Let me start by saying, NO... There is nothing "authentic" about this place in any way whatsoever. I've spent a LOT of time in Louisiana and nothing here was even close to true Deep South food. The vomitous experience we had was less than desirable. The attempt at Boudin was horrible. Shredded pork, tiny bit of rice and all the wrong seasonings. The fried okra was heavily breaded with something other than cornmeal as well as being the frozen variety. After that circus we had Jambalaya and Seafood Gumbo. The Jambalaya was gooey, the chicken was as dry as shoe leather and the "andouille" tasted of cheap Johnsonville. Now, for the "Gumbo". greasy to start. The broth was anything but tasty. It lacked in all seasoning. The roux was most definitely canned or pre-made. The crawfish were not of the American variety. The sausage even though soaked in the broth was dry enough to tan and make a pair of shoes with. Years and years of fishing and spending time in the deepest southern parts of Louisiana makes me yearn for the TRUE food I've had. This place is a joke and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone wishing to have a meal that will leave their tastebuds satisfied. I'm still trying to get the taste of puke out of my mouth. I've been coming here for years. Now, they're in their new location and it's fabulous. They have a lot more space which makes it more comfortable to dine in. In the back is a bar serving beer and wine. There is a room for private parties. They have a small flat screen tv if you want to watch the latest game. The food is great. My favorite is the roast beef po'boy. It's wonderfully drippy and yummy. The chips are handmade. I often substitute sweet potato fries because I love them. The red beans are creamy. I get it without rice. Just bring me a bowl of red beans and bread. Oh, the bread! It is just lagniappe! A little extra that you wouldn't expect. I don't know where they get their bread, but it is heaven. I love the gumbo. Ask for extra file to make it thicker and more like the kind you get in New Orleans. When I'm dieting :(, I order their salad with chicken. The greens are fresh, but I love the chicken. I think they sautee it in butter before they put it on the salad. I guess that kind of negates the whole point of a salad, but it sure is tasty on the fresh greens. I love the Big Easy Grill. read more
