The atmosphere does not feel hygienic, and the service is careless at best -- we waited around 40 minutes for food with no explanation or apology. What made it worse was watching a staff member repeatedly walk in and out of the kitchen holding our plates instead of serving them. By the time the food finally reached our table, it was cold, greasy, and tasted like something reheated in a microwave rather than freshly prepared. First time diner food was great? Crab cakes on point, crab bites a delicious surprise. We had King Crab Legs and scallops bag with sausage red potatoes and broccoli with garlic butter. Perfectly seasoned, broccoli righton texture, scallops and crab legs wonderful. Lauren provided excellent and fun service, even extracted the crab for my inexperienced self. I understand we are land locked and this place is corporate, but they have just nailed down the taste of freshness at a great price!! I am also a huge fan of their seafood sauces... The service is always top notch, and the ambience is casual yet big enough for a party of 10. I have yet to try a pot or boil, but the batter they use on their shrimp and fish is amazing!! They also don't skimp; I usually get the catfish and fries, and it's 4 big chunks of fish, and a basket of their amazing Cajun fries all of it under $14!!!! The food was amazing. I took 2 friends that were from Michigan and they raved about it after we ate. One got the shrimp boil and the shrimp were huge. The other got the fried shrimp basket and loved it. I got the fried catfish basket and the catfish was cooked beautifully and melt in your mouth taste. I also go the fries (lemon pepper) and I wanted to eat the whole order but there was so much food I got stuffed. The prices are good and the service was great. Very attentive and welcoming. Storming Crab is a quick cajun fix in 417-land. Finding decent cajun-seasoned seafood is difficult out here in the Midwest, but Storming Crab was a nice surprise! We ordered the Dinner Combo #7, plus an order of Green Mussels, with Crab House Cajun and Garlic Butter flavors and medium spice. The 3 of us finished every single bite of the platter! We asked for Super Hot spice on the side to dip our seafood in and it was a good level of spice. We'll come back to try Sam's Special next time. The only con is the sauces are VERY oily. If you LOVE garlic, get the garlic butter seasoning; otherwise, it may be too much for other's. For starters, we ordered a half order of Raw Oysters and they gave us complimentary Seafood Bread. The Raw Oysters came with Tabasco, a marinara sauce, and ginger-wasabi. It tasted fresh and tasted best paired with Tabasco, marinara, and a hint of lemon, but the ginger-wasabi had too much kick. Though every bite of the Seafood Bread was great, it's very oily and heavy. We'll definitely be back to try more of their menu! read more

Then the pick 3 appetizer stuffed jalapeño, cheese sticks and okra those are just okay the breading was on the hard side lacked a memorable flavor okra was good. We ordered the #4 dinner combo with garlic seasoning it arrived inside a bucket in a boil bag that the waitress opened and poured into a pan and you eat off the parchment lined table the plastic bibs and gloves are optional. This place is right up there with them and I'm more than willing to drive the 1.5 hour drive to eat there like once a month! I joined a few friends and their two small children for a birthday celebration. The note on their door says all parties of 7 or more automatically have gratuity added to the bill, and the two young children were counted in the 7. I have no issue with paying a gratuity and would have left one anyways. The bill I received after it was divided up had a blank line to leave a tip and tip suggestions. I had assumed no gratuity was added and I left another tip. The next day we were discussing the cost and the gratuity being added is when i found out they had gratuity added in as well and explained why my bill seemed a tad high to begin with. One of the guys in our group called them the next day about this and the management refused to do anything about it. I believe their gratuity policy needs a better explanation and the receipt that is signed to leave the tip that has a blank line and suggested amounts is a deceptive practice. Anytime a gratuity is added and a bill is split up, it should be made perfectly clear and verbalized at the time of payment that it was added. I am NOT at all thrilled. read more

On a Wednesday looking for a place to eat, after an appointment in Springfield. It turned out to be a beautiful fall/winter day, and then drove and saw this pretty blue sign that no one could read from the street. So, let's start with the catchy name, it was enough to lure us in. Being from the transplants from the east coast, sometimes it's hard for us to find seafood that is appealing. We have found it either to be good looking, but taste terrible or looks horrific and taste half way decent. However, the food here looked and tasted amazing. At least to us a bunch of people who have eaten seafood in some of the best places. First, they started us off with some seafood bread. And I was smitten. The bread was both hot and different. Plus, I have never eaten it before. But then again, I love bread! However, it was warm and cheesy, two things that are always good with bread. Plus, most seafood places don't offer free stuff. So, the first thing to order were the oysters. They were not the biggest like I have gotten in other places, but the cost was amazing; and I found I didn't have to ask for the items that usually accompany an order of oysters on the half shell, because it was ALL there, even a bottle of Tabasco. It took us only minutes to devour them. And as a family that is were we parted ways, we all ordered what we call the test food. This in our humble opinion is what truly makes or breaks a place for us. One ordered wings, one ordered fish and the other ordered something house. First of all the service was excellent. But one skeptic, informed us, it was due to the time of day. And I mentioned hunger has no set time. So, anyway the food came quick, hot and done. Of course we didn't talk for several moments. However, when we finally made eye contact we realized the food was pretty good. Oh, let's not forget the Shark Bite Magrarita I had the pleasure of drinking. All in all my family and enjoyed the experience. The staff was friendly and efficient. The place was clean, and I loved the paper tablecloths. Took about 5 minutes to order a basket of fried alligator, during the wait they brought out something called "seafood bread" which was probably the best appetizer I've had anywhere. Had to pay to get a second one but the $5 were well spent. The alligator was good for being in Springfield Missouri, can't expect fresh bayou food all the way up here. I would give 0 stars if I could. I came in last night for a 1 lb king crab boil, an order of catfish with fries, an order of Alligator with fries, and seafood bread. Our order was $100. When I came in they were closing an hour early because they were slow which I was unaware of at first, but out of respect I asked if they were still serving cause they looked pretty empty. Lady responded with yes and said she was going to seat us, then was just told they were closing early so I couldn't be seated but I could get a to go order. I asked if I could still get the seafood bread (which is a free appetizer for coming in) cause I was pregnant and needed food asap cause I have fainting issues, to which she responded yes. I made my order and I double checked on the bread cause she still hasn't brought it to me while we were observing the menu, and she informed me that I had to order it and pay for it since we weren't sitting in, even tho I asked previously since they were and hour and 15 away from close time and there were people who were seated at the time but we weren't allowed to be seated. It wasn't too big of a deal so I just added it to my order. I get home and immediately realize our order was COMPLETELY messed up. Our seafood bread was undercooked and soggy. instead of getting a whole order of catfish and a whole separate order of alligator, they split the order and did half and half in one container. My crableg boil was supposed to be medium Cajun, but when I got it, IT WAS WATER AND GREASE, no Cajun boil, no flavor absolutely at all. I immediately called and I live only 5 minutes away from the restaurant, and nobody picked up. I called several times and even left 2 voicemails. Being that I was pregnant and needed food I went ahead and made some food and decided I would go back the next morning for a refund. I called the next day and spoke to the manager and explained the situation to him and was told if I called the night before or came back in that they would have refunded me, but they were not going to refund me and would give me a 10% discount the next time I came in. I demanded a discount because I was a repeat customer and wasted $100 on food that was completely messed up and would not be returning for the bad service, because I had called while workers were still there and they refused to answer the phone and had the doors locked. I even offered to show them my call logs, and bring them the food from my trash. But all the mf has to say was "I'm sorry" no sir your not sorry.
