mouse on the floor
Ethan L.

TL,DR: There was a MOUSE in the dining area. To start, everything was sticky. The floors, tables, salt shakers were all sticky. The staff was good, quiet but didn't do much other than take the order. The food was okay? I don't know, I was too distracted by the mouse enjoying a little stroll around the restaurant to think about how the food tasted. Needless to say, don't waste your time here

Now, let's remember we're in Springfield Mo. - (not) the low country. If you're looking for a place to get some Cajun flavors - and you're (not) a full-on Cajun snob - this place is good for lunch. Tried the gumbo, crawdad Po'boy, fried catfish, fried shrimp, red beans and rice....and even the tamales. I personally liked the shrimp and po'boy the best. Gumbo was good enough too. The stuff is all pre-fab products they're using....but better pre-fab products that give the taste. And in Spfd....we only have about two places to choose from foe Cajun food!

Fish and shrimp

It doesn't look like much from the street. You order from a menu on the wall, take your number and have a seat. This was our first time here. We ordered Fried Green Tomato's and they were delicious!! Fish, shrimp, fries, coleslaw, green beans and Mac and cheese. All good was really good and there was more than enough! We liked it a lot! And we will be back!

Sam's Sam's Patty Melt and Oyster Po'boy.

We stopped in for lunch recently and had a great meal. My husband got the oyster po boy and I got the patty melt. Both were very tasty. I liked everything about my patty melt. The patty was large and I couldn't finish it. The fries are seasoned and very good. We look forward to returning for fish and chicken baskets in the future.

Grilled catfish & grilled shrimp, 2 sides-red beans/rice & corn! Delicious!

We enjoyed our family meal at Sam's! Delicious meals!! Friendly, speedy service. Thanks!

Red beans and rice

Skip this place, its a waste of time and money.. Fried Oysters are a joke. They were extremely fishy tasting; full of sand, completely soggy, and undercooked with breading that falls off. The macaroni and cheese were cold and overcooked, nothing but mush. The red beans and rice were so salty you might as well lick a salt block...probably be less salty. Lastly, the salt and pepper shakers are not cleaned...nothing but dried scum and grease on the outside from other customers. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. You are better off going to McDonald's and ordering a fish sandwich....that's how bad this place is.

No crackers or bread offered with soup, sticky tables, greasy chicken. Overpriced for quality.

Oh, did say that their Cajun items are absolutely incredible.?!! lol. Well, they are! . First off, the building has been renovated in such a top notch/fine look and feel. The downstairs and further downstairs ...are absolutely neat and never knew a Springfield building had such a design. . Now for the food: I don't know what else you'd want for a Cajun option. Absolutely everything is done homemade and zero shortcuts! Everything is so flavorful and better quality ingredients. From the appetizers, to the soups, to the entrees themselves: everything is done so good. . The service: here again, this detail is not overlooked. This place has very very very good personal service. They don't skip on trying to be personal in catering to every need of a customer. . Most impressive restaurant in Springfield. Did I say this place is about the best dining experience in Springfield? Well, it is!

* 4 star for look,…read morevibe, ambiance, truly needed to pop on C-Street! Met one of the owners and a gem, lovely man, passionate about the feel and the food, who listened to my critique as I vacation in NOLA for Christmas. Love Réveillon dining and am hoping this place continues to build as a solid foundation. I understand they are working out the kinks of a new restaurant, that so many want to try, but maybe not quite enough staff/help somedays. The food was a mild blend of French/Cajun type of fusion. Party of 4, two college students: Bayou Board: Blue crab beignets, alligator bites, boudin balls, andouille, various sauces. We all agreed the crab beignets the best of the lot, and the little bits of gator should have been in bigger pieces. The Shrimp Po Boy actually one of the best dishes as the Gulf shrimp were cooked to perfection and had a great price. Crawfish Étouffée-trinity cooked down with tomato and brown roux, served with rice, green onion gremolata finish, was a solid 6, could not taste the crawfish, and it desperately needed bread; and unfortunately no bread basket, at all, (this would have been a serious no-no in the south). Hope they remedy that. The Country Gumbo smallish serving of Chicken and Andouille sausage in spicy brown roux, topped with fried okra, file powder, basmati rice, nice flavor, smooth, a 7. Lastly a vegetarian meal with the fried green tomato Po Boy and the Salade La Roux, 10, which filled the plate and was very satisfying for a lighter eater, and presented beautifully. The ending Banana Foster Cheesecake-Homemade Cheesecake with cinnamon, banana filling, topped with Caramel Rum & brown sugar sauce and sliced banana, gluten free. Not on fire, but it was still an interesting spin. The cave below the highlight and will dine there our next special occasion. The second floor a little quieter perhaps than first but also where they cook, so make yourself familiar, see what works best for you and your partner, or in my case, parents of local MSU student couple. ** For some reason pics could not be added but will try to add on phone app afterwards.

I usually don't leave reviews without eating the food, but I just couldn't get past everything that went wrong before that. 1. They were out of just about everything "which can be good sometimes." But this was in a bad way. Like they just didn't order anything. The guy who took our order was extremely nice, but he kept his cooking gloves on the whole time he took our order, and handled our money. Then another guy came out of the back in a tank top that was completely stained and looked filthy. In fact the entire place looked dingy and disgusting. The soda was completely out at the machine, and the carpet in front of the machine was so sticky it pulled off my wife's shoe!!! We asked for a refund because we just weren't feeling it, and the guy gave us a refund and was extremely apologetic... I gave them two stars because we didn't eat there otherwise they would have gotten a zero strictly for their lack of cleanliness and lack of supplies. They really need to be on the ball since another soul food place opened not far from them and is way better.
