My family and I liked it! We ordered a kid's shrimp dinner, fried oysters, catfish, and gizzards. Everything was cooked to perfection. The batter is spiced correctly and salt is added, so make sure you don't use salt until you try a bite first! The red beans and rice was seasoned nicely with smokiness and the fries were a golden brown and fresh. The mac and cheese tastes like the precooked frozen kind though, so you're better off ordering a different side. The fried green tomatoes were fantastic! This place had some pretty awesome fried food. I ordered the 3 piece fish 3 shrimp and 3 oyster combo with red beans and rice. The fish was fried perfectly in a cornmeal base and the shrimp were jumbo and fried amazingly in a flour batter as well the oysters they were a little on the small side but tasted great. I loved how smoky the red beans and rice were with a hint of spice. I also ordered the gumbo which had great flavor with chicken and okra topped with grilled shrimp served on rice just a little bit on the salty side but great spiciness. All in all I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for fried fish and shrimp. read more

The fish was good, the shrimp was great, definitely the best thing I tried, both fried and grilled shrimp is top notch. The worst part was the mac and cheese, I love mac and cheese and its hard for me to find one I don't like, even the boxed kind is good for me. This stuff was on a whole other terrible level. Very powdery and the noodles were just slop. We also had an issue where they got on of our orders wrong, when they brought that out we asked about the jalapeno poppers appetizer we ordered and when she went back to the kitchen discovered they were out, so we substituted fried pickles, which none of us could eat. I have spent time in the southeast US and never heard of this place. They don't have hush puppies and don't make the mac & cheese in-house -- for shame calling yourself a 'southern eatery'. The only truly 'southern' thing I saw was the slice of bell pepper garnish on my fish; I am allergic to bell pepper and there was no mention of it anywhere on the menu. The line was five deep when my party arrived. About half the tables were occupied and at least 2/3 of those were already eating, so why it took almost 30 minute to get two grilled dishes out is beyond me. Today, June10th, I experienced the worst customer service I have ever been subjected to. I placed a to go order at 12:30pm. At no time during the ordering process did anyone let me know they wait would be excessively long for our food. My husband had remained in the van with our special needs son because he does not do well in restaurants, which was the reason we were getting food to go. When I had waited 30 minutes for our food my husband entered the restaurant with our son and approached the counter. He asked the man behind the counter why were not told it would be 30 minutes or more for our food. The man raised his voice and told my husband it was "hot as hell in the kitchen" and that "he did not have to tell us how long it would take for the food." This all happened in front of my children. My husband asked who he could call to complain to and the man told him "no one, he was Sam." He made another girl hand over our food. My husband asked if the order was correct. Clearly no one checked because when we arrived home 10 minutes later The first order of fish and shrimp was completely missing so I did not get my meal at all. There was also no sauce for anything. My husband then called the restaurant to tell them our order wasn't even correct and I did not get my food. The man, that identified himself as Sam again, told my husband he had made trouble for him and to not ever come back again. Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. If I had been told the wait for food would be 30min plus I would have either made the decision to come back another time, or have planned for my special needs son to be prepared for a long wait. They came out under cooked and not properly washed. Please be careful when ordering these as I've had them many places and these are not prepared properly. This place was recommended to my husband by a friend of ours so we decided to give it a try. As we walked in we were pleasantly surprised. The establishment was nice and very clean as were the restrooms. The staff was extremely nice. When we received our order we were blown away by the portion size. I ordered the 6 piece golden battered fish, my granddaughter ordered the 12 piece battered shrimp and my husband ordered the shrimp Po'boy sandwich. The prices for each order was really no different than any other fish place. The food was outstanding! I ate 1 piece and had to take the rest home as was the case with my husband and granddaughter. The picture of his sandwich could have been better. It was a lot of jumbo shrimp in it. All in all we will definitely go back! read more

Tried this for the first time and was very pleased with it. Inside was clean and open. Well lit and ample room to sit. Portions were large for the prices in my opinion. Had the fried catfish and shrimp I though had good flavor with out being too much of any one spice or seasoning. She had the tamales. They were ground beef and very good also. I didn't know this was a chain. It was great for a chain. I'm giving it a four because the portions were healthy, the fried oysters were delicious, the shrimp were huge, and the fried catfish was tasty. The side dishes were ok. I'd hit this place before a Captain D's, Long John Silvers or even if I was wanting a fried meal at the Red Lobster, I'd chose Sam's. The breading around the fried food was on point. It doesn't have to be fried, they will bring it grilled. It's busy, but the line moves fast. Not many restaurants survive this location but I think they will. They can meet the needs of a low budget or someone wanting to splurge a little. The kids choices were great and not all seafood. When I see a "southern eatery" I guess my expectations were a little different. Worth checking out and seeing for yourself. I'll certainly go back and try everything grilled. read more

I have no problem with the delivery at all. Contactless delivery works just fine for us. According to the map we are 3-4 miles from the restaurant and knowing that we didn't question the warm food. The food was almost a total disappointment. The coleslaw was watery and tasteless. The fish was severely overdone and dry. The oyster poboy and the fried pickles were so salty I'm sure I got my weekly salt allowance in the few bites I took. I'm doubting we ever order from here again. Heard a lot of good reviews on the food at Sams. Menu online looked promising so I took my wife and son and one of his friends. To say it was a huge disappointment is an understatement. First of all they apparently only take cash so half the people who came in while we waited for our food end up leaving because they couldn't use a credit or debit card. What restaurant does that in 2020? We waited about 30 minutes for our food. Only 3 other tables in the restaurant were occupied so make sure you eat a snack before you go to get dinner there. You'll be there a while Between the 4 of us we had fish, shrimp, liver and gizzard dinner and burger. Fish and shrimp were actually good. The liver and gizzard dinner was overcooked and greasy and mostly went in the trash. The 23 yr boys left over half of their burgers. Said they tasted like frozen precooked patties that were microwaved. The Mac and cheese was horrible. Very little effort went into the food prep. Mostly premade food that was thrown in a deep fryer or microwave. Ordering is slow. Long wait time for food. Low quality pre made food. Would not recommend it at all. I lived in the south for a while and this is not what the food down south tastes like. 1 star at best. read more

Our after church lunch group picked this place 2 weekends ago, since no one had tried it before. In all honesty, none of us were impressed at all. The food was overly salty, which meant a couple in our group who had high blood pressure could not eat most of what was on their plate. What wasn't overly salty, was either very greasy or looked like it had literally been thrown on the plate. The little girl taking our order seemed to have an attitude as well, and acted like she was in a hurry to get us to finish our order, which beings we had never been here before, we really didn't know what was on the menu. They recently opened, and I've only been here once. So my review is just based on that. I got the bbq beef sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was tasty- although it had a bit of an after taste. Wish the fries could've been better though, definitely would rather get chick fil a or McDonald's fries. I suggest ordering a different side. You walk in, and order with the cashier, they give you a number, and they bring the food out. Maybe I'm just not that big of a bbq person, but this place didn't blow me away. I'd probably try something else. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday evening. I had a grilled shrimp & fish dinner with coleslaw and green beans. The meal was good as a whole. Shrimp and fish were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The added garnish of the onions and peppers was a nice touch. Hubby had the fried version and liked his as well. He had mac & cheese and corn as sides, but there was nothing special about either. Fries were crispy, hot and golden brown. Son had a country fried steak sandwich and although he said the meat of the sandwich was tasty, he had expected a sandwich with some kind of white gravy (like a chicken fried steak) and this came out with lettuce, tomato and mayo on the sandwich. I didn't care for the hushpuppies. They were dense and a bit chewy. Total cost for three meals and three drinks was about $32. As far as criticisms go, every four-top in the place was dirty and we ended up wiping down one for ourselves with a dry paper towel. No employees came out to clean any tables while we were there, but one of them had time to come out from the counter and sit in a chair in front of it and play on his phone for 10 minutes.
