The paper on the table really highlights my post-meal debris field.

Blown away. We assumed our food would be good, but two of the items we ordered were excellent! Service was also great. The best service we've had in Springfield. The standouts: - Pasta di Giorno with vegetables and goat cheese; - Hummus with bruchetta and crusty bread The lemon herby sauce on the pasta was fabulous. Honestly, the best Italian dish I've had in recent memory. I can't recommend it enough. The hummus was wonderfully smooth with just the right amount of garlic. I was a little offput by the kraft paper on the tables, especially because it really highlighted my post-meal debris field! There was also a live trap visible from the parking area. This didn't impact my dining experience, but I'm still very curious about what they're catching!? The canolis were okay, but I'd have enjoyed the strawberries with chocolate sauce more by themselves.

We had an epic meal!!! We literally planned our stop to eat at this place. Ate here 13 years ago and have thought about it often. The smoked mushroom Hummus was so die for. The fillet was incredible and I tasted the chicken Parmigiana and it was incredible as well. Great place for a wonderful meal to remember.

I'm torn in giving this three stars for several reasons. I ordered a Cabernet to start. A few minutes later cocktails arrived and server stated that they were out of Cabernet. Initial impression was surprise that they didn't have any Cabernet; however you could buy half bottles or full bottles of Merlot or Pinot Noir. The rest of the group ordered bottles of the other and the server never returned to ask if I would like the same or something else? Kinda weird if you want to sell a lot of drinks to a group ready to party. We ordered an assortment of appetizers such as the meatballs, bruschetta Italian salsa of which were just okay. Not a whole lot of effort to upswell more appetizers to our group of eleven. No effort to sell salads. I had the sea bass which was really good and the best part of my experience with the restaurant. The sides of vegetables were really good and what saved this review from going to two stars. Service lacked along with being out of a wine staple without a backup from a wine store down the road to fill in.

    Tiramisu with French Press coffee

Came to Gilardi's Ristorante for dinner not expecting to be seating at a distinctively different establishment. When I walked in I could not notice the red walls, stocked bar and chandelier above a corner nook. Not to mention the variety of wine bottles displayed on the wall. Our waiter was very friendly, professional and courteous. We enjoyed the interesting appetizer, the seafood pasta and topped off the evening meal with a Tiramisu and French press coffee. Delicious! Aside from a throwback ambiance the dinner experience was unique. Enjoy!

My husband found this gem after a google search for restaurants with lamb shank. When he called, no reservations were available. After speaking to the actual chef on the phone, he agreed to give us a table at the bar. To our sweet surprise, we were seated in a private booth. We ordered lamb shank, seafood pasta, Caesar salad and Tiramisu. There was only one waitress and the chef running the whole show. People kept walking in without reservations and they kindly accommodated each and every one. My husband loved the anchovies on the salad. The prawns were massive. I could only eat one or two. The lamb was cooked perfectly and I ate my share of the garlic mash underneath. The only complaint was the gravy was excessive and heavily salted. The big decision of the night was the dessert. Cherry-orange Cannoli or Tiramisu. After speaking to the chef who wandered table to table speaking to customers, (love) we chose the later. It was perfect. We will no doubt drive 3 hrs sometime to try more of the great hospitality and the food. It was a pleasure!!

    Beautiful!

For our anniversary, we were looking for someplace "special", as we were passing through Springfield, MO. We happened upon Gilardi's, & we will definitely be back the next time we are in town. It was a wonderful! The food was absolutely delicious! We couldn't decide what we liked better; our salads, entrees or soup! All delectable! The atmosphere was perfect for our special night, but if we lived in Springfield, it would definitely be a regular place for us. We highly recommend!

The others had eggplant parmesan and said it was the best they had ever eaten. One ate Italian nachos and did not care for it, but she's often times disappointed with what she orders in restaurants. The bread sticks were right out of the oven and excellent. The salads were fresh and very good. The dressing was outstanding and one person in our group bought a big bottle of it to take home. The birthday ladies were gifted a dessert. We all tasted the amazing lemon cake and Tiramisu and both were delicious beyond words. Parking is right out front with easy access. Reservations are recommended. We ate early at 4pm when they opened on a weekday. Highly-recommend it, if you're one that dines early. They offer a separate room for big groups. I'll rate Piccolo's as the best dining experience in the Ozarks!

The meatballs: These are an excellent meatball and an excellent sauce. These aren't some rolled meat with salt and pepper. These meatballs have an excellent herb accented flavor and taste wonderful. Alfredo Carbonara: Again, a fantastic dish. Very rich flavor with a good dose of prosciutto accent. Tomato Bisque: This isn't some Sysco product they're putting out - this stuff is a real deal, made from scratch bisque. A very balanced flavor with a good depth of texture....not some watery kind of soup. Cannolis: desert will (not) disappoint. The cannoli cream is a nice flavor...with a slight orange zest touch. Service was attentive, we started with a bottle of wine & bruschetta, the wine was good, the bruschetta was soggy and falling apart when picked up. As we were waiting for our entrees we noticed the delays from the kitchen, server bringing pasta to a couple on their anniversary for him and saying the pizza was just on its way out of the oven, it never arrived, the gentleman finished his pasta and still no pizza, she cancelled the order and they left. The table behind us also had no meals, the server said the chef forgot to make them, they finished their drinks and left. The table next to us, 1 of 3 meals served and finished and then 2 lasagnes arrived, both of which were still cold in the middle. They were all annoyed and just took them to go. Finally our meals arrived, I believe we were waiting on the bolognese as it seemed hot and fresh, mine however was not the hottest and has a film on it as it had been sitting a while. I believe the bolognese was not worth almost $40 but the other one was well priced and delicious. Ended with a tiramisu which was dry which was disappointing. So a disordered evening with angry diners did not make for a fun night out.

Thankfully, it's not that. Not even close. The interior leans cute and slightly rustic, with a New-York-Italian soundtrack of Sinatra and Dean Martin covers setting the tone. The buffet itself is smaller than you might imagine, but it gets the job done: grab your drink, grab a plate, and dive in. You'll find the usual starters lined up -- soup, salad, breadsticks, fried ravioli, chips with spinach-artichoke dip -- then move on to the fun part: à-la-carte pastas and sauces. They've got everything from classic white sauce and marinara to vodka sauce and meatballs. There's even fried chicken pieces so you can build your own take on chicken parm. Vegan and veggie-friendly options are surprisingly solid: roasted Brussels sprouts, glazed carrots, and a legitimately tasty butternut squash casserole. The sausage risotto was another pleasant standout. Desserts aren't homemade (and they aren't pretending to be -- they're still in the cardboard trays), but they do offer hand-scooped ice cream from the staff, which is a nice touch. Service-wise, the greeter was great. The rest? Fine. Our server didn't look thrilled to be there, but honestly...it's a weekday lunch buffet. Expectations adjusted accordingly. Overall, The Hill delivers a charming vibe, some solid buffet options, and a few dishes that are genuinely worth going back for. If you're craving casual, customizable Italian comfort food, it's worth a stop.

Unknowingly, I started "scrolling" to find a place to eat and was sucked in by pics of the food and ambiance! So I mapped directions to Cafe Cusco only to find it was next to another great restaurant I had been to during my last trip. Walked in and the hostess, with a welcoming greeting and smile directed my single person party to a four top. Turns out she ended up also being my server and bartender!!! Lilly was her name and she was on top of it all. I believe there was at least one other server. I shied away from apps as I was not sure about the serving sizes as I was not famished... I started with a Pisco Sour that Lilly recommended and she also recommended the Lomo Saltado for an entree. I chose to also have the Ginger Caipirinha. For dessert I had the Quinoa Pudding and a cup of coffee. Beverages were well balanced with lime tartness, great cinnamon presence and over all flavor was refreshing! The Lomo Saltado was very flavorful- def get your salt intake for the day, but it works so well! There was a house hot sauce at each table. I taste tested the hot sauce and decided to liberally add to the dish! A symphony of flavors! The slices of tomato in that Saltado sauce was ... mmmmmmmmm GOOD!! Naturally the tenderloin was packed with Saltado flavor too! I ordered up the Ginger Caipirinha (which did not disappoint either!). Both beverages stand on their own merits and I cannot choose which was better... maybe the sour?? So... then there was dessert... I cannot recall the last time I ordered dessert... quinoa pudding???? I mean... I like quinoa... but do I ever go out of my way to eat it?? No... but add some sweet coconut cream, cinnamon and... wait for it... Black cherry COMPOTE?!?????!!!! Damn! Am I glad I got that dessert! You MUST save room for this! Such a great amalgamation of flavor and textures! Cheers Cafe Cusco!! You've got a great gem here for great prices to boot! Lilly was very busy, what may have lacked in some attentiveness (due to how busy it was) she made up for in her awesome personality, pleasant disposition and great suggestions! Chillin' in haute Springfield?? Check this place out! Cheers!
