Appreciate the manager for squeezing us in as a last minute group. We were having a Christmas party dinner, 13 in our party. Restaurant was closing early at 730pm for their own Christmas party. One of our people has Alpha Gal, so finding an Alpha Gal friendly menu is rare in Springfield. We had a new server named Jaselynn, we were her first large table & she was a little overwhelmed, but the manager assured her it would be fine and for the most part it was. Server was attentive, offered drink refills without being asked, checked on the meals, etc. A few small hiccups with the check, but we were being more difficult with our requirements. The food & meal timing was the downfall of the night. Our order was in at 645pm but we didn't get entrees till 720pm & they were closing at 730pm so it felt rushed. I had a Caesar as my side as it's my usual favorite, however this one was over dressed, soggy and the dressing was more vinaigrette and less Caesar. We got just 1 basket of bread rolls for 13 people, the Onion Blossom appetizers ( three of them ) were all cooked to different levels of doneness but all of them were not drained well as the amount of oil they were sitting in was outrageous. My steak was overcooked, as were both the salmon meals, the chicken tenders were overcooked, and the fries on others meals were lukewarm. I've not experienced a bad meal there before, if work had not been footing the bill I would have said something, but I was grateful for them fitting us in, good company at the table & great service. read more

Food wasn't necessarily bad, I got the Montana burger w/ fries, spinach artichoke dip, and fried pickles. The problem was half way through the burger I had to stop eating which at the time I thought it was just cuz I was full but little did I know later that night and the entirety of the next day would be spent in and out of bathroom throwing up in severe discomfort. We haven't been here in years usually because it's really packed. We decided to go a bit early, because the wife has been craving a steak for awhile. There was no wait time at 4:30pm so that was a bonus. Our server was the only great thing about the restaurant. She was extremely attentive and very friendly. The tables were clean and they had the NFL games on most the TV's which you can see around the entire restaurant which was a nice touch... We both ordered the 6oz sirloin both medium; I got potatoes and the wife loaded potato soup with it... Firstly the rolls they were "know for" are not the same and completely different than years ago! They use to be sweet and fluffy and the ones we got were tiny and hard. My wife's loaded potato soup tasted like it was from a can! Both our steaks were cooked completely different; mine on the rare side my wife's on the more well done side. I'd say the best thing I had was the mashed potatoes and free peanuts. Starting with the waitress, she was very helpful, funny and didn't seem rushed by any means which was nice. The rolls were awesome, and the onion blossom was banging, which is saying a lot because I'm not usually a fan of them. The salad was generous with lots of dressing and I had the loaded potato soup which was not so much. It tasted like it had too much flour or something in it, and while everybody at our table tried it nobody really cared for it. You just couldn't really taste the potato even though there were large chunks in it. Moving on the to the steaks, they had a lot of flavor, were cooked correctly as mediums, and were nicely charred on the outside. A couple of them had way too much gristle in them. Take a bite and be amazed at the wonderful flavor and then take a bite and chew chew chew before spitting it out. They also came with a small scoop of garlic butter on top. This was not expected but may be standard at some steak joints, including this one and if you expected it than it was no big deal but if not it comes as a surprise. Fortunately it wasn't bad, but if it's not your thing take note and ask them not to put it on your steak. Another member of our party had the ribs which were just huge, and he said we're awesome. He also got the sweet potato fries which came with a mystery side. Ranch? Mayonnaise? Sour cream? It was just confounding and we couldn't figure it out so everybody had to try it. It was sweet, and had a strange consistency that the wife was finally able to identify as marshmallow as confirmed by our waitress. I guess it's a sweet potato pie staple, but not expected with sweet potato fries as a dipping sauce. Maybe it's a Midwest thing? For a party of four eating full meals with appetizers the bill ran $140 before tip which wasn't bad. We will definitely go back and try the steak again. My brother selected Colton's for his birthday dinner and when we arrived at 5:15 the restaurant was already packed on a late Saturday afternoon. We had a 45 minute wait for a party of 4. It was worth it. Our table had T-bone steak w/ baked potato and green beans, Ribs Catfish Combo w/ fried okra and baked sweet potato, Fried catfish w/ apple coleslaw and green beans (me) and Country fried steak w/ mushroom gravy and fried okra. My brothers steak wasn't quite cooked to his specifications but he enjoyed it. With the Country Fried Steak it comes with a choice of mushroom gravy or white pepper gravy and our server recommended the mushroom gravy. This menu option is on the Favorites section of the menu and comes with only one side. I enjoyed the catfish but was surprised it wasn't the fillets I expected. The apple coleslaw that it comes with was really delicious. The green beans had no flavor, no seasoning of any kind detected. They just seemed to be cooked plainly and plated up. We did order the JT's Onion Blossom appetizer. The signature sauce that it's served with is so good. Colton's is a fantastic place for a good meal! read more

We generally love Colton's. 0n September 2) 3023 we went to get takeout an usually have steaks, that was a mistake they were overcooked and burnt even the baked potatoes were burnt. Sins it was takeout we could not hand them rebook it as we were no longer at the restaurant. We just flushed the money away for poor food. I've been ordering curbside pickup since the pandemic started. It's always fresh and correct and the employees are always super nice. My favorite is the Hawaiian ribeye, and I like mine well done (a crime, I know) and they never burn it or let it bleed. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good steak. read more

This used to be our weekly date night spot prior to covid, we decided to go out tonight to celebrate a milestone bday and had by far the worst service experience to date from ANY restaurant and definitely will be seeking another place to frequent. My night was ruined by the waitress serving in the bar area, she didn't listen to my order at all so I got just a salad for dinner and not the steak I ordered. In fairness she offered to bring one out well after my.husband got his food but offered no apology just a "you didn't say you wanted that" when in fact I did. Went on Saturday night at 5:40 pm and were told the wait was 20-25 minutes. Well 52 minutes later we were seated. No apology from the greeters but the bartender was great at trying to make up for the long delay. They did give us two free appetizers for the delay. I realize there is going to be a wait on Saturday night but the manager needs to better oversee the staff that is estimating wait times. After having a great meal last night for my husband's birthday & our server Alexis was great. However by accident she forgot to take the $5 off $20 purchase. I did show her the email & it was acknowledged. When I got home last night & the restaurant was already closed I noticed the $5 hadn't been taken off. So I call today & speak w/Brandon a manager. He states that unless he actually sees the email he won't do anything about it! As he put it "I can't just do that for everybody who makes these types of statements." Mozzarella sticks are huge. My husband loved his steak. Said it was super tender. I got the Hawaiian chicken with the strawberry pecan salad. Loved my salad, I did pick off the oranges but the raspberry dressing and the candies pecans were really good. Not the greatest experience today. I used door dash to order a filet with loaded smashed potatoes and fries as sides and a piece of cheesecake as a dessert because I am on a diet. Unfortunately, the cheesecake was not with the order. Whether that is on DD or Colton I have no idea. The smashed potatoes were good, fries ok but Colton's offer no options for condiments in DD, but the filet was well below PAR. I ordered it medium rare and got medium well on half, and well done to slightly charred on the other. I rated a 3 because I ordered this in the past and found the filet to be excellent and everyone has their off days. I'd recommend Colton's, however I'd advise if you if you are going for the first time to wait and attend during traditional peak hours when their A team is there. read more

Colton's in Springfield is at best, an average dining experience. The facility is clean, themed and staff is mostly polite. Food is good but not as high quality as you'd see at a more "high end" steakhouse. It's in a good locale for shopping.
