The food came out hot and pretty much how we ordered them, besides being a little overdone. The restaurant's seating process could be improved upon. Being 30 mins past our reservation time, we were asked to come in from the outside only to stand around inside. The area we were instructed to wait was not ideal. We ate here today to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere is so disappointing. We always feel like cattle being herded through a gate. We hadn't even finished a roll when appetizer comes( which is fine), have a few bites of appetizer, when our salad comes, get 2-3 bites of salad when the main course arrives, then " bam" check time! This location is always packed. The food is always pretty good. Obviously, this isn't the finest steak in town but it's always good. The service was quick for how busy they are. They kept hot rolls coming while waiting for our food. Again, it's always packed no matter when you go. With that being said, it's usually pretty crowded and pretty loud inside. Also, the parking can be tough with people actually parking in the grass on weekend nights. I would definitely join the waitlist ahead of time online if you go. The waiter (Gibby) kept telling us our food would be plated soon. 45 MINUTES LATER, we were served stone cold food that'd probably been ready all along, while the waiter stood around with his thumb jammed up his ass. Ate here in a Sunday evening. There was a one hour wait. Was told our table was ready and to go Inside. After going inside, we waited an additional 10 minutes to be called. This process seemed unorganized. Finally got to our table, ready to order appetizers only to be told that fried pickles, cactus blossoms, and boneless wings were sold out. Decided to skip the appetizers. Received our meal, which was steak and shrimp. Asked for cocktail sauce only to be told they were out and couldn't make any more. We had a party of 22. We checked in at 5pm. They told us 30-60 minutes. We just got sat down 2 hours later. What a shame that they can't time their service. This steak was supposed to be medium. After waiting on it for 15 minutes after the rest of us got food. We also received a RARE steak that was supposed to be medium rare. When we got that steak back the outside was black and inside was medium. Whoever is in the kitchen does not know temperatures. Our server was sweet. This was my first visit to the Texas Roadhouse, and I must say my introduction to the franchise came with a few surprises. When I pulled into the parking lot, I was expecting my visit to mirror every other chain steak house I had been to, however, I would soon see that this was a different steak joint. Strangely enough, my first glimpse of their customer service started in the parking lot. I just so happened to attempt to pull into a space next to where an employee was parked and was about to get something from their car. I offered to give her time to do what she needed to do before I finished parking but she politely insisted on waiting for me to park so that I didn't have to wait on her. After I parked she walked with me into the building with a friendly conversation. The hospitality continued throughout my experience with a hostess who first welcomed me, then offered me the opportunity to hand pick my steak, and then chatted with me while showing me to my table. Once seated my waitress Kara quickly greeted me and took my drink order. By this time it had become clear to me that customer care was important to this restaurant's staff. I was born and raised in Texas and steak for most Texans is as important to us as football and church. Therefore, whenever Kara was able to intelligently explain the differences between the sirloin and the ribeye then I knew I was in the right place. I was raised around cattle, was a Future Farmer of America student, and had been grilling beef since I could hold a pair of tongs, hence I had already known the difference but being served by a waitress in a chain restaurant who knew her stuff was a welcomed surprise for me. The meal was started with complimentary rolls with honey and cinnamon butter, which was wonderful. The fresh salad was just as good as the rolls and I was pleasantly surprised they had my favorite dressing, French. I ordered my ribeye medium and that is exactly what I got. Some guy named Seth was on the grill according to a sign near the hostess stand and he did a fantastic job. I asked for steak sauce just in case I needed it but I did not require it at all. The steak was tender, juicy, and flavorful just as it was presented to me. I was convinced that I was sitting in a roadhouse that had been birthed from my home state but imagine my astonishment to read on their website that the first Texas Roadhouse was opened in Clarksville, Indiana, in 1993. Surprise! In conclusion, I can not say enough about how friendly the staff was. I was blown away by their knowledge of cuts of beef and the precision of the chef to cook my steak exactly as I ordered it which is quite rare in my experience. No pun intended. What's Good: Loaded Mashed Potatoes: Bountiful, Creamy, mega-flavorful and delicious! What's Very Bad: Fried Cat-Fish: Horrible, mushy and foul-tasting. Easily the worst fried Cat-Fish I've ever had. What's Bad: Tartar-Sauce: What could have possibly, partially saved the bad tasting Cat-Fish, did not help at all. This was a weird tartar-sauce and that's being kind. I have no idea what this consisted of, but it resembled and tasted about 20% of what normal Tartar Sauce is. My best guess is that it was a blend of Mayo, Mustard and Horse-Radish. Yeech! What's Bad: Skewered Grilled Shrimp: Shrimp was ok but nothing special, but the decision to bathe each piece in hot, spicy pepper and not informing the diner in advance, really angered me. I get physically ill when I eat hot peppery or spicy food, so after eating just one, I was in the bathroom. One of the people I was with put the blame on me, suggesting that you don't order sea-food in a steak-house. I should be able to order what I want if it's on their menu, and considering the prices, I really should have had better food for my money. Watch out for the Ziosk Premium Cont. charge. The Ziosk was placed at the end of our table and a child who we did not know, came from another table and proceeded to play with it. I was charged $1.99 because this child had touched the Ziosk. My concern is that it was so easy to get into the app and actually get a charge put on my bill. It was crowded on a Tues night so we sat at the bar to avoid the wait and service was pretty good. I ordered the Salmon with a sweet potato and chili. It took awhile to get their famous bread rolls from the bar keep and the butter was almost frozen but the buns were tasty! Then my chili came out luke warm at best which is such a bummer when that happens. Never saw a manager to say anything so just pressed on and the chili tasted good as always. The salmon came out shortly after on a small dish with the sweet potato. The salmon was prepared well (maybe slightly over cooked) but it was still good. It's your typical Texas Roadhouse. It's an extremely popular location I'd highly recommend getting here prior to 5:30 as they run short on parking and you'll have a long wait to get seated. I sat at the bar which had excellent service. Both bar tenders were very attentive. Beer was nice and cold. I'm pretty much on a meat only diet so I only got filet medallions. Was a little turned off on the presentation. Which how can you mess up throwing 3 pieces of steak you say. It must have sat there a long while or something as it was borderline steak soup. Don't know if it was dipped in au jus or what the deal was. I order this at every location and never experienced that so was a bit odd. Steak had good flavor with 2 of the filets super tender and a 3rd I decided to skip as it was a bit tough. Will be back here on my next visit. read more

Just wanted to say thank you for ruining date night for my wife and I. My wife and I waited for a hour and forty five minutes for a table. Perhaps we should of left a bit earlier. Yes it was busy but still a hour and forty five minute wait? One of the host did notice us waiting and said he would look into it for us. He looked into it alright I observed him looking at his cell phone for over 15 minutes at the host stand by the door while my wife and I continued to wait. My wife by the way had breast surgery from breast cancer. Also has issues with her back and was in pain from standing and waiting for a table. Thankfully another couple who were waiting for a table saw this and asked a server for a chair for her to sit in while we waited. Finally after the long wait we got seated at a table. I wish I could say things improved after or long wait and that the food more then made up for it. It did not. We ordered cheese fries with bacon as a appetizer. My wife who was very hungry after the long wait ate half of them. They were beyond salty tasting. She ordered a regular sized steak with chicken fingers and asked for her steak to be cooked medium well. Her steak was beyond rare. The baked potato with bacon and cheese she ordered she couldn't eat. It too was beyond salty. The grilled pork chops I ordered with a baked potato with bacon and cheese was you guessed it beyond salty tasting. My pork chops were barely warm. I couldn't eat them. They tasted like pure salt . The server while she was pleasant only came to our table once to refill or drinks. When my wife and I told her how salty the cheese fries were she apologized and said she would bring us a new order. But after the hour and forty five minutes wait we didn't want to wait any longer . After the total disaster of my main course and my wife's we got the attention of the manager. She apologized as well and took the cheese fries off the bill as well as the pork chops. She offered to bring me a new order of pork chops but I was beyond frustrated with everything. The bill came up to 30 dollars and twenty nine cents. For my wife's unedible salty meal and under cooked steak and two cokes. Very disappointing experience. I've visited multiple steakhouses in Springfield and I find the experience has been just the same as out in Arizona where I am from. That is that unless I buy a steak and grill it myself the ONLY other place I can get a consistent steak is at the Texas Roadhouse. I just have not had a bad steak here and the sides are awesome as well. I am not a huge fan of salads but they really do a decent salad here. Did I say the steaks are awesome? They are, and in my humble opinion the only way to get a better steak is to hit Costco and fire up the grill yourself. read more
