this is our first time eating at and will be our last. Run do not walk to eat at another barbecue place. This one is not barbecue. My husband ordered turkey breast plate with two sides. The beans tasted like out of a can, potato salad was definitely not homemade. I had a chicken griller with no onions. It tasted like a greasy grilled cheese with chunks of chicken, not sliced like the menu said. The bacon was burnt and greasy Texas toast. The fries were ok. The chicken and turkey were not seasoned and did not taste smoked at all. We will not be back. There are good reasons for a mediocre rating. The food wasn't horrible but it sure wasn't outstanding. I admit to really liking their fries and their catfish fillets. We like this place and go every time we visit Springfield. Large selections and plenty of food on the plate. I had the brisket with the sweet and spicy beans and fried okra. It was great. Price is decent. My wife and daughter had pulled pork sandwiches with fries. We tried the cole slaw...not to our liking but other seem to enjoy it. A little to mayonnaise based for me. I loved the beans. Far from a traditional taste. They are indeed sweet and a kick of spicy. I like them! The okra was great and really reminded me of the south. Of all things though, I did not care for the BBQ sauces. The main one is a little too sweet for me and the Carolina style is-almost mustard. The spicy is flat out hot so I stayed with the sweeter and tried to tame it a little ewith the spicey. I could go for a different flavor of sauce. Overall a great place to visit and relax read more

The food engendered the homeliness and solicitude of a home cooked meal. Ok, I don't know what is going on with this place. I love (d) their smoked chicken salad. The last two times I've had it have been a catastrophe. The first was delivery and I ordered pie/icecream as well as the salad. My order gets to me and the very hot pie is in the middle of the now melted icecream and salad (wilty and warm at this point) The second time, for the first time in the world of smoked meat I had to salt my chicken, because it had 0 flavor. Rib Crib why do you frustrate me so. I generally don't write reviews of a chain restaurant and have only written a handful ever, but you have finally pushed me to the edge. Food: the food is good, at least on par with 90%of other rib cribs we have eaten at. And that is a plus, the way it should be. Service: that is what is hit or miss. And after enough small misses tonight's was big so they finally earned a review Tonight is the national championship college football game. My wife and I had some errands to run, including taking one of our kids to planet fitness to work out. We walk in expecting to sit at the bar and get something to eat. To our surprise the where you would have to talk to get to the bar was blocked off. We waited a few minutes for someone to finally come greet us. We asked about sitting at the bar and were told "she closed it down to mop." So we asked to sit near a tv to watch the football game. We were sat next to a table with two men sitting at it. They were obviously watching the game. Shortly after we sat we began speaking with the men. It turns out they had actually been sitting in the bar area but had been asked to move when they wanted to mop. The employee comes back and her mood is grumpy - my words- unhappy -my wife's words. She remained that way throughout the time we were there. Another man came in to watch the game with his daughter, then a family of 5. Since they had only one tv on the game we were all seated as close as possible to each other. It was fine because it did allow us to talk with each other and almost gave it a full bar feel. There was no one else in the restaurant. Our son joined us and we all are. By the time we had all finished the others had all left already. As we were walking out my wife mentioned to the employee. Just so you know there are three places over there in the main aisle where someone spilled BBQ sauce. The employee replied "Oh I know. They were suppose to clean that up when they mopped that area earlier. I don't know how they missed it. My wife told her she just wanted to make sure she knew, and she replied "oh yes I do but thank you anyway." I cannot speak for the others eating but had we been in the bar area and had we gotten more attentive service we for sure would have stayed until the completion of the first half. From listening to the others they might have stayed longer as well. Who knows. But I do know the combination of inattentive service accompanied with a poor attitude from the only employee on the floor added to the fact no one was allowed to sit where they wanted ( the bar when the whole restaurant was empty) adds up to some lost sales and lost revenue plus a review from me. Came for dinner with the lady. She had the ribs and brisket basket while I had the ribs and brisket combo. Basically mine was much larger portions and price. The ribs were very meaty. They don't pull the membrane away from the bottom but cook them in such a way that its tender enough to eat. The bones literally fall out of the ribs which will really miff some bbq snobs but doesnt really bother me. My complaint here would be the ribs didn't have much smoke flavor. Almost tasted like they were baked. Not gross or anything but not what I was looking for. We both enjoyed the brisket with the mustard sauce applied. Again not as smokey as I would have liked but not bad. I had a side of fried okra that was basically soggy. So no bonus there. Sour kraut was ok. The Good We really like their mustard sauce. I have ordered take away from this location twice now. The first time I used the online ordering system. I ordered a chicken salad with the chicken chopped up and to add red onions. They did not chop the chicken or add the onions. I figured I'd give this location another chance one day several months later. I ordered the same salad to go over the phone. I figured communicating to an actual employee on the phone would decrease the chances of a mistake. Again, I was let down. It was a great experience despite having a bad one with a different restaurant (not rib crib) just a few moments before coming here. ANGEL served us and she checked on us when we needed her and was very sweet! I had the Carolina brisket sandwich and my fiancé had the club loaded baked potato. The fries are awesome, reminds me of the beer battered fries. The sandwich was great, though I did still slather on their mild BBQ sauce (I'm just addicted to the stuff).
