Was in town watching my nephew play basketball and my sister in law suggested coming here. The wife and i shared the nachos. We were warned that it was big enough for 2 but i would say you both better be starving or there will be leftovers. The Great thing is that it's not just chips and cheese. There was plenty of pulled pork which i might add was tender and great flavor. A cheese sauce and shredded cheese and jalapeños with sour cream on top. The thing was huge and delicious. Wow!! I have to be honest this has got to be one of the best Springfield area barbecue joints! Right when you walk in we were greeted by the owner and asked if this was our first time. He then proceeded to give us some samples of his meats and encouraged us to try a few. Needless to say every meet was tender juicy and well smoked. Every side that we had was top notch. If you've got a hankering for barbecue in the Springfield area it's well worth the drive. Let them know it's your first time in. Wow - it's a Monday and all our normal "go-to" places are closed. Decided we wanted barbeque and found this place on Yelp. Truly, OMG! Everything was very good! Since we were newbies, they gave us a small sample of the pulled pork, turkey, tri-tip and burnt ends - all were great but my husband could not get over the perfectly moist pulled pork. Then we found out that he did dry rub baby back ribs - my favorite. I only got a half rack and only ate half of that because it was so meaty that I was already full. Their loaded baked potato salad is the best I've ever had! When they ask you if you want onions and pickles on the side, say "yes!" The pickles are awesome but ask if they have any smoked onions today... big fun taste! We will be coming back and letting all our friends know about this place!!! read more

This is by far the worst bbq I've had, even worse than local big chains. I would assume most of these reviews are from friends on how terrible the food was here. The service was mediocre (Very slow, but friendly enough). Some thoughts. 1) The toast they service with your meal is literally just plain white bread. Not toasted, not buttered, nothing. It's not even texas toast, cmon guys spend 20 seconds to toast and butter some texas toast. 2) Cheesy corn was a nacho cheese spread mixed into a lukewarm canned corned taste. The cheese was not even blended, just dropped on. There were no brisket bits at all. Who uses nacho cheese?! 3) The Burnt Ends were literally Charcoal. Burnt ends are supposed to be edible. 4) They give you a thimble of sauce. I understand that "good" bbq doesnt need sauce, but when I am served charcoal and nacho cheese, I'd like at least more than a tiny drop of sauce to drown out whatever I was served. 5) The beans tasted like they were fresh from the can. No smoked/pork bits/anything?! There is no reason to cheap out on any of these when the prices are higher than other competitors nearby. Whom I might add, taste way better than this place. A few in my party ordered the Roasted Chicken, and out of the 4 of us, No one had a pleasant experience. This business feels like they literally don't care about the quality of food they are pushing out and are just looking to make a quick buck by throwing out well below sub bar food. I have never met the owner, so maybe I don't have the privilege of being served edible food like the rest of the reviews. read more

Great local owners and AWESOME BBQ! Being from TX, I am often disappointed in brisket and poultry in this part of the country. You can find lots of good pulled pork, however, the other options are often very dry and overdone. The tri-tip sandwich was melt-in-your-mouth perfection and my wife had the turkey which was very moist and perfectly done. Had a chance to sit with the owners and they are good company and local people. There may be a couple of good options for barbecue around the Springfield area, however, if you are in Nixa or Ozark Missouri looking for the best barbecue you can find and support a great local family, give Pitts BBQ a try. If you like smoked meats this is a great place to go. Tritip, and brisket are delicious. Ask if they have smoked onions.

Pulled pork was great and the potato salad was fantastic. I'm not a huge fan of potato salad but theirs is really good.

This place is hit and miss - sometimes it's SO DELICIOUS and sometimes you get real fatty cuts of meat or it's dry. Often times the thing we love is out which stinks. Amazing tri-tip though and we will keep coming back! The staff is great! read more

Not a fan of the spicy sausage link as I found it to be dry and lacking in flavor, pulled pork was ehh, cheesy corn not a fan, just stick with the tri-tip and potato salad!! My husband wanted BBQ, it's New Year's Eve and we didn't want to travel far. We stopped into Pitt's BBQ and had a very welcoming reception! The owner asked if it was our first time there and since it was he gave us a variety of samples. We ordered the burnt ends which were melt in your mouth with amazing flavor. The chicken wings fell off the bone and were moist and tender with a lightly smoked flavor that wanted me to keep eating them. The baked beans were full of flavor with a sweet, savory taste. I've never had cheesy corn before, the corn was sweet with a smoked flavor and let's be honest! What isn't irresistible loaded with cheese?! I highly recommend this place! I saw this place and had to give it a try after my go to Buckinghams in Nixa closed. As soon as I opened the box and saw Texas toast for my sandwich was not toasted or prepared in anyway my hopes dropped rapidly. Come on man if you are going to do texas toast instead of bun you have to at least toast it!!! Moving on I ordered turkey which was moist and juicy and seemed to be prepared freshly. It lacked much flavor or smokiness to it however but the tangy BBQ sauce they have complimented it pretty well. For my side I ordered pit beans and again as soon I popped the lid BBQ depression set in once again just beans in sauce no signs of precious nuggets of BBQ meat mixed like pit beans are supposed to be. I would say they are comparable to maybe some canned bush beans from any grocery store. I would say overall my meal was a C- minus or so if you can make the drive head over to either Buckinhams or Whole Hog Cafe and you will not be disappointed. read more

I've eaten at Pitt's a few times, either right before noon or late afternoon. All meats have always been amazing--and i really like the KC-style sauce on them. The servings are always big, & the sides are always flavorful. The owner has usually been in the restaurant when I'm there--helpful & very involved in operations.
