Just visited Dickeys and was pleased by the variety that fit the needs of the entire family. The service was great, the brisket was full of flavor and I couldn't believe how much food came with the one meat plate. The creamed corn was delicious. I will be sure to visit again and try new items on the list and take advantage of the family pack for a busy midweek meal. read more

I love coming here. We always ask a ton of questions and they are so patient telling us about the different kinds of meats.

The food was delicious but the service was horrible! This is why the 1 Star rating!! From the minute we walked in the staff behind the counter were argumentative. I asked for a smaller sandwich due to a recent stomach surgery and they responded, " we can't give it to you FREE!" I didn't ask to get it free. Then the girl at the register huffed and puffed with a scowl on her face when we asked her to repeat what kind of sauce they had. Then... my husband wasn't feeling good so walked outside outback and one of the staff followed him and asked him what he was doing out there. VERY RUDE! The floors were sticky and the bathroom was filthy! All of that... whatever because the food was good BUT will NEVER be back because of the rude service. And they weren't even busy. Granted many restaurants have not had an easy time during restrictions, and like many people, we have resorted to a lot more take out food. Part of this regime includes carryout ribs. This place had been our #1 choice. Knowing that ribs take a long time to cook, I have found that often it is a 50/50 hit or miss whether you get fresh ones or not. Unfortunately, what we have received on the last three tries has been a progressively bad miss. The rack we brought home this evening seemed like it may have been made several days ago. I was almost burnt, very dry, and overcooked, making them very tough. I continued to purchase ribs here hoping for some improvement and maybe more consistency, but guess we'll need to go back to trying others. read more

Best tender juicy ribs around! I'm a very fussy eater and I don't like much sauce, so they send you home with your choice of bbq sauce, so my ribs aren't drowned. The meat falls from the bone, which is how they must be in order for me to like them. They are perfect! I hope they stay open for years to come. read more

Great bunch of folks who truly support our community! They catered a meal for our church and gave us a great deal. Also, when a 9/year old requested them for his birthday lunch, they let his mom pick up the order before opening so she could get it to school on time AND they comped it for the birthday boy. Meat has good flavor. Dining area is low-brow but come on, it's a BBQ joint. Free ice cream is a nice touch. Not the cleanest place in town but not gross. read more

I am a bbq officianado, I live in KC and eat bbq multiple times per week, I like this place, I get the two meat plate..great brisket with whatever meat I am in the mood for, the creamy slaw and green beans both are very good! First visit. 2:30pm on a Thursday. We each had a coupon, buy a drink for $1.99, get a free pork BBQ sandwich. We showed her the coupon, she started making the sandwiches. Someone came out and said "we're out of hamburger buns", so she made them on rolls. We decided or order a side. 1 side = $2.00, 2 sides = $3.00. She took us to the register, said "Your total is $9.76". But (I questioned) $1.99 + $1.99 + $3.00 = $6.98. She said it was $1.00 extra each for the roll instead of a bun. But they were out of buns. Then she proceed to tell us that the buns and rolls both have the same amount of meat. So why were we charged an extra $1.00 each per sandwich when THEY ran out of buns, and buns and rolls have the same amount of meat? So our $3.98 drink & sandwich coupon deal, upgraded to $6.98 with sides, cost us $9.76 with tax. But wait... I'd asked if they were busy today because the place was empty. She told me they'd had one birthday party earlier, about half a dozen women in their 80's. When we seated ourselves, I went to get BBQ sauce. The three canisters and the holder they were in were covered with dried on sauce (gross). The pork BBQ had no smoke flavor. The waffles fries had no seasoning. About 1/4 of the tables had empty paper towel rolls. So what were they doing for two hours before we came in that they couldn't take two minutes to wipe down the BBQ sauce containers and refill the empty paper towel holders? Nobody asked how we were doing or if our food was ok. We left, there was no one in site or behind the counter. The door made a bell ring when we opened it, no one came out or said "thanks for coming in". Extremely poor customer service. Food was bland, dry and unflavored. Seating area was dirty and no paper towels... I'm really bummed that Bandana's left. If you want BBQ, to go Buckingham's. You'll definitely be disappointed if you go to Dickey's. read more

We ordered Dickey's BBQ for delivery last night and it was our first time trying it as we are from out of state and in for the holidays. We did a family pack which came with 3 types of meat, 4 sides and it says 8 rolls and bbq sauce. We ordered the onion tanglers, waffle fries, green beans and potato casserole. The onion tanglers and the waffle fries were extremely salty and we didn't receive our potato casserole. We also did not receive the rolls instead they sent us 8 half slices of bread. For the price that we paid it's a little disappointing when one you don't get everything and two when they send something in replace of what's stated on the menu but then when you can't hardly eat the food bc it's too salty, that's just absolutely ridiculous. read more

Good food, Horrible catering service. Warning,do NOT cater from Dickey's Barbecue Pit. We had Dickey's (Nixa, MO) cater an luncheon event for 140 people today. The food was great, but that was the only good thing. The manager of catering was driving the van and was to arrive at 11:30 to set up. They did not even leave their story, according to one of the helpers, until 11:30 and arrived after our event was to start. They were phoned three times and we were told they are minutes away. 140 people were left in a hallway waiting while they set up. It only took 20 minutes, but that was because we had half a dozen of our staff help carry the food in the building and set it up, otherwise the anniversary luncheon would have been 30 to 40 minutes late. Worst yet, their attitude was one "we're sorry." And then they turned snippy and repeatedly blamed "traffic." Poor planning, poor execution, is not poor traffic. Food rating = 10 Service rating = -4 (lack of planning, lack of execution, inaccurate/dishonest reporting, snippy attitude about keeping 140 people waiting in a hallway). Overall, probably a good place to eat in. AVOID, DO NOT let them cater!! Our experience was one of total disappointment and frustration. read more

I'd give this 0 stars if I could. My best friend had no problems (quick service, good food, friendly service, etc) for her family of 4. My husband and I went in at 6:00 on a Saturday night. I'm so frustrated by our experience! Here's why: 1. Food: the food here was good (but not good enough to compensate for the rest of this list). My husband also smokes meat which and no other restaurant even comes close to edible! 2. Service: The two people behind the counter had NO personality! The guy taking our order was slow. The girl who rang up our order shoved the food across the counter and said "here a go have a good night" as she quickly walked away. No one asked if we needed anything, enjoyed our meal, or even recognized we were sitting in their store. 3. Cleanliness: I looked at no less than 8 tables before settling on the leas dirty table! It was so disgusting to try to eat my meal on top of someone else's dirt left on the table. Despite the time they were not busy! There was only 2 other tables in the building! The BBQ sauce containers were also dirty. 4. Band: A band came in to play live music. They told a racist comment while "checking" the mic. They had cloggers. These two ladies couldn't have looked more miserable and ticked off! Not very entertaining. 5. Cost: so let me get this right. I have to stand in line for 20-30 minutes to order, wait for, and carry my own food? And I'm paying $10/plate for that? Top it off with PLASTIC silverware on a dirty table?!?! Seriously!!
