Went to Smokin' Bobs at 5:15pm on a Saturday, knowing they'd likely be out of a lot. They were, except they had hot links and burnt ends. I got a burnt ends sandwich with potato salad and beans, and my husband and I split the hot link. The hot link was very mediocre but it was also the end of the day, so no big deal. The burnt ends were delicious! The potato salad had something different about it than I expected but it was great. I couldn't put my finger on it but it was yummy. Plus it's creepy the way they watch me eat through the little window. Service was so fast almost too fast was this even Cooked this week? The brisket was so dry no way it's cooked today I would say it probably wasn't even cooked this week. I loved the smoking bobs on south side. This doesn't even compare to the atmosphere, the quality of food, or the friendliness of the workers. Talk about a hard-working crew! We went to grab food there for Christmas Eve dinner and they were definitely getting slammed. Summary: Acceptable but not exceptional bar-b-que. It's a small, comfy place off US 65. Just after opening pulled pork and sliced brisket were both served dry--as in needing more juiciness. The brisket also lacked seasoning. Sauce was necessary. Regular sweet or cayenne tinged spicy were on tables. The brisket also benefited from a shake of salt. My small side--creamy coleslaw--was also dry. I dumped the container upside down on my plate so the liquid on the bottom filtered through the slaw. That didn't make a difference. I wanted to give Bob four stars but the dine-in visit was further marred by the unfortunate alt metal rock playlist. You should be able to chill at a BBQ spot: The aural assault was uncomfortable. read more
