Came for dinner on a Friday night around 6:30pm. We were seated right away. The restaurant is quite spacious - there were a good number of other tables eating around that time. You are greeted with a nice warm basket of muffins. They are a little cheesy and remind me of a mix of corn bread and regular muffins. We ordered the brisket and spare ribs. Brisket has an option of fatty marbled or lean - we got fatty but it was more a layer of fat than a nice marbling. The meat was a bit tough but not inedible. I do wish it was more marbled and flavorful. It definitely needed the bbq sauce. The spare ribs were quite good. They were big and meaty with different sections of fatty and chewier lean on each rib. The marinade they use for cooking is notably on the sweeter side. The ribs did not need extra bbq sauce in my opinion. The sides were just okay to me: Mac n cheese - nice and creamy but the real tasty cheese flavor was only in the melty cheese globs. Collard greens - good flavor but definitely on the salty side. Lots of meat in this side. Baked beans - your average sweet baked beans, tasty! Side salad - upgrade for $2 - portion was reasonable for price. I was disappointed by the dressing i selected, the vinaigrette. It was mostly oil and little vinegar leading to a very light and unnoticeable flavor. Friday night I was famished and went to Jim 'N Nick's for BBQ. As usual, they ran out of brisket and baby backs which is fine because they are best sellers. So I got the ribs... THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Unfortunately, I didn't find out until I got home. I will say that the potato salad and collard greens sides were really good. However, the main player (ribs) was TOUGH and could have been cooked longer. I spit out my bite and called it quits... COME ON FOLKS, NOT REST ON YOUR PRIOR REPUTATION! I am a longtime customer of Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q, and today's experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered a three-meat combo with wings and paid for my meal, only to be told afterward that wings could not be included in the combo. I was already prepared to purchase the wings separately if necessary, so that was not the issue. The problem was the way Karina, the manager, handled the situation. Instead of resolving a simple customer service matter with courtesy and professionalism, she kept repeating the same explanation even after I asked her not to continue. When it became clear that I was frustrated, she threw her hands up and walked away in a dismissive, childish manner. I have been a loyal customer for a long time, and I spent $90 here today expecting respectful service. Instead, I was met with rudeness, attitude, and an insulting tone. There is a way to speak to customers, and there is also a way not to insult them, even when the answer is no. Was jonesing for some ribs so we decided to check out Jim 'N Nicks. Walking in, the smell of Bbq wafted through the air and I was pretty excited. That feeling was short lived because once I received my order I was disappointed with the quality of the food. My spareribs were undercooked, gelatinous and flavorless. The sides weren't any better. My experience here was great! I ordered the brisket It was flavorful all on its own. I don't have words to describe their barbecue sauce. Just make sure you get them. Tje cheese biscuits were amazing. The ribs were good also. The wings are great and the're not the pigeon sized wings that you find at the pizzeria either. First off, the menu that Yelp shows is not what the restaurant offers. The restaurant menu is much cheaper! I had their really good deviled eggs and the smoked chicken wings. Both were excellent! Edited to add - We were the ONLY customers on the patio!! She was not barking constantly or disturbing other patrons. I went specifically to this restaurant because it claims to have a dog friendly patio. I took my dog with me for her birthday. We sat away from the other tables in the corner because I know she barks at strangers. She was tied to the fence and I had her leash. She has never hurt anyone but does bark when people approach. I told the waitress that we waited a while for initially that she has stranger danger and barks at stranger but I have her. She took our drink orders and brought drinks and biscuits but practically threw the stuff on the table. She did not take our order. She disappeared for at least 15 minutes with nobody coming out to help us at all. I could tell she was scared of dogs. I was calling the restaurant to place our order when an employee walked out back. I requested a manager. I spoke to the person who I'm guessing was the manager and let her know the situation. She said okay I'll get her. I told her we could just give her our order. She took it on a napkin but proceeded to tell me that a barking dog is not allowed on the patio per Gwinnett county. Is a screaming kid or is that considered a nuisance and not allowed. Nobody walking by had complained. I told her we would happily leave. I do not want to stay anywhere I'm not welcome despite the sign saying dog patio outside only. There was a list of rules and no where does it say your dog cannot bark. I frequent this business often because I live a mile away, but they lost my business today! I will make sure everyone is aware of the poor customer service me, my friend and my dog received today. The waitress actually came and apologized that she is scared and said nobody that worked there was willing to take care of us because my dog would bark at them. Unacceptable!!!! This place has really changed since I last posted (and not for the better) First, the name. Bar-B-Q is not "smoked". There is a huge difference. My brisket may have Bar-B-Q'd but it sure wasn't smoked any time in recent history. I had take-out from there on a Sunday. My meal was sliced "12-hour smoked brisket" with french fries and collard greens. The thing about take-out is that you can't see it, taste it or smell it (I might have smelled it if it had been smoked) until you get home. My brisket was cold, tough, dry and had no smell. If I have time, I smoke a lot of meat so I know smoked meat. It's hard to tell how they cooked it, but I am calling them out on this being "smoked". It wasn't cooked within the last few days. If it's more than a few days old it becomes old, tough and dried out. They think you want notice it if you put some of their volcanic hot BBQ sauce on it (it is hotter wasabi). My first side was collard greens. They tasted flat. No "pop" to them, also very little seasoning. My second side was french fries. Cold and limp. Not the way I like my fries. If I had to rate this meal on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 2. Only because of the 2 corn muffins they included. Yet they too lacked seasoning and were very soft. I put a little of my homemade hot sauce on the and they were decedent. Would I go back? I will drive by in a couple of months just to see if they have any real smoked meat and have improved the other items on their menu. OK, I drove by a few months later. I think they must pipe in a barbecue smell. The place has gotten worse rather than better. I had to try the brisket. BONE DRY, AGAIN with what tasted like a little Walmart barbecue sauce thrown on it. To say it was decent would be charitable. I took a taste then threw the entire meal in the trash at the restaurant. I will never ever be back. My french fries were soggy. My Texas toast was soggy. I was served by kids who clearly did not want to be there and management who did not know how to manage. What a shame. I didn't think I would ever say this, but I'm going to have to go to Sonny's. Selena Was an amazing sever! She was always ten steps ahead of us! AMAZING food and service.

This was my second time at this location and it was much different than the first [I just realized the review is still in my draft]. The hostess was slightly detached and going through the motions. We gave her a compliment and I assumed she didn't hear it, so I repeated the compliment again while making eye contact and she ignored me. It was definitely an odd exchange to say the least. Lol Our server Grace was Johnny on the spot. She was sweet and attentive and extremely apologetic when I found a blonde beard hair (with follicle) in my honey butter. I was expecting a manager to approach us to rectify the stomach turning inconvenience, but nothing was done. I didn't press the matter or ask to speak to anyone either. I got the chopped salad with chicken. It was pretty good and the portion is huge! The Bloody Mary was tasty. Just enough alcohol and you can NEVER go wrong with Zing Zang mix. Ordered to-go because I was finally on a side of town that had a location. I had the brisket sandwich and mac-n-cheese. The bbq quality has gone down immensely. The brisket was under seasoned and had little to no Smokey flavor. I could overlook this as it could've been an off day but what I can't overlook is drain flies in my soda. I didn't know this until I had drank all the soda and was eating the ice and saw this at the bottom of the cup. Very disgusting and definitely unsanitary. This is a restaurant that our family normally enjoys; however, this past Sunday we had an abysmal experience. We have four little boys with special needs; two are in wheelchairs. After we unloaded all of our children, we were told that they could only sit us at a table near the door. It was very cold and windy. We asked to not sit at the door. Our server's name is "Heavenly". She was attentive, and friendly. Wife and I both ordered combo smoked turkey and brisket. She likes her brisket chopped, I like mine sliced. Good to know we have a solid bbq spot so close to home. I liked their bbq chicken sandwich. I got one side which was potato salad. Both had good flavor and I'm usually not the biggest bbq fan. Liked their bbq sauce and the white sauce. Def complimented the sandwich well. Hubby got the brisket and he said it was kinda hard. He wouldn't get it again and try something else. The platter came with 2 sides and we did a double Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is soooo good! Also got half a dozen cheese biscuits that were like small muffins. They were soft and fluffy. First, I must say the onion rings, chili brisket and little cheese biscuits were great. I ordered for Christmas Dinner and could only make a few sides since Foot surgery. We also ordered 2 lbs of lean brisket and 3 lbs. of spare ribs. First of all, our brisket was 25% fat, not lean at all. I HATE FAT! On a lean diet, ordered lean! Wondering if the packers were pissed I gave less than a 15% tip to package my food for Christmas (Not paying full tip if I'm not being waited on with drinks, etc., and clean up and all). Secondly, the ribs were NOT spare ribs! They were giant voluptuously fat ribs with lots of those horizontal little bones throughout and very dry and over-cooked, hard to rip apart the top coat! I've never had bad ribs here, but they were awful! The Packer/Servers definitely didn't like me when they packed those crappy ribs in a container! Currently Texas Roadhouse puts their ribs to shame! I've always liked Jim and nicks whenever I came back home to visit my parents. Solid barbecue options. We got a takeout order this time, to bring some back for my dad. Pros: - Plates are good to share, nice amount. This makes it easy to also try different things on the menu. - Meat was not dry, and a nice balance of meat to sauce ratio as well. - They're biscuits are really really good. I used to eat a ton of them before I moved out of Georgia, and these are definitely a comfort food for me. Cons: - Barbecue is OK for takeout, but you don't wanna wait too long. I would say the most that you should go for takeout barbecue is maybe 15 minutes. Reheating in a microwave makes the meat dry. Definitely would come back to Jim and nicks.
