We utilized a gift card while traveling and stopped in for a late lunch. We were greeted warmly by staff with a friendly attitude. Our order included a half chicken plate with fried okra and macaroni and cheese, as well as a pulled pork plate with fried okra and fries. The food was served promptly which was a bonus while traveling. Both of us agreed that the fried okra was well-breaded and cooked to perfection. It's been a while since I had American BBQ, so I took advantage of a Halloween coupon and ordered a Two Meat Plate on Uber Eats. I chose baby back ribs and shredded pulled pork. I do have to complain about the sides though -- I picked Brunswick stew and onion rings, but both portions were quite small, and each side cost an extra dollar. Without the coupon, it would've been too pricey for what you get. I was craving peach cobbler and this spot came up on uber eats. Husband was craving a burger so got that with a side of fried okra. The burger was quite good and so was the fried okra. Peach cobbler was not good - very mushy and flavor was just OK. Won't return for that but their savory foods are probably better which makes sense. read more

Chicken tenders looked great but up close realize that the outside looked like jerky, pretty dried out like they were sitting there previously cooked and not cooked to order. I only had their grilled wings, but they were good. It did perturb me that the workers knew i was there, told me my order was ready, but never called my name. I had to go up and ask and it was sitting there. Luckily they were still hot. Was on the fence for 3 or 4 stars but the sauces pushed me over. I have been twice and i wasn't impressed with the food either time. The service was great and the restaurant was nice though. The first time i got the "Shaniac Sandwich" (burger with pulled pork on top). The burger patty was thin but there was a lot of pulled pork on the sandwich. The hamburger patty had no taste, i couldn't even tell it was there. The sandwich was very large. I got fries with the sandwich. The second time i got 10 traditional smoked wings. The wings were chewy and had grill marks but they didn't seem to be smoked at all. I ate 4 of the 10 and threw the rest away. All in all, i would probably to go elsewhere when when I'm in the area again and wanting BBQ. read more

I think the three star average here is fair. We had a good meal here, but not an excellent one, in my opinion. I think the best thing that can be hoped for here is a really great value. We got a family size BBQ meal for under $30. If you order online, then show your receipt upon pickup they'll discount you a certain percentage. It's a little inconvenient to do it that way instead of having it automatically deducted, but a discount is a discount no matter what way you spin it. So I was thankful for that. We ordered green beans, salad, mac and cheese, and baked beans for our family sides. The baked beans and mac and cheese were good. The green beans and salad were okay but nothing special. We didn't get any salad dressing, although I noticed a lot of people aren't giving out condiments due to the virus. Also, I think they ran out of the Italian style or fresh green beans pictured in other Yelpers' photos, cuz we just got some regular canned ones. I enjoyed the pulled pork we ordered more than the ribs, which was surprising, since it's a "rib shack." Although, I must say I've had pulled pork better elsewhere also. It was a bit too chunky for me and not as shredded as I like it. The ribs definitely could've been more juicy, tender, and flavorful. Funny enough, my favorite thing out of the whole meal was the grilled hamburger buns with butter. Simple, yet surprisingly addictive and comforting. I'm not rushing back to this place, as I'm more of a brisket person anyway (which they don't seem to have). We've eaten at this location twice now and both were very pleasant experiences. Food was hot and tasty. Sandwiches are a good satisfying size and they put a generous helping of meat. I had the bbq chicken. My mom also got the fried okra and said it was delicious.The stew and green beans are good too. Also,the cashier who was there on 8/4/2024 about 8pm went above and beyond. Wish I knew her name. It had just rained and we wanted to sit outside so she dried a table off for us. Also checked on us to see if needed anything and usually when you sit on they don't do that. I've been to a few Shane's Rib Shack locations, and this I definitely the best. The service was really friendly and respectful. I went before the pandemic started. The chicken tenders are cooked just right and the sides were delicious. I sampled some of them. I think the coleslaw was my favorite, or the Mac and cheese or the potato salad. You can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Very quick service. Restaurant was really clean. And again service was wonderful. I also like their crackers with the different barbecue sauces. Can't imagine anyone liking this place unless they haven't eaten before. A dead giveaway, there is no smoke or smell of it outside. My guess are the meats are cooked somewhere else, then microwaved on site. My pulled pork sandwich was almost cold. Completely dried out! Definitely not fresh !!!! The toast gross.. I visit the Norcross Shane's about once a week. Their customer service is outstanding. I placed a large order yesterday for their $10 rib plate special and the crew executed my order flawlessly. Everyone I interact with is friendly and accommodating. The food is always fresh, and their daily / weekly /monthly specials make eating at Shanes a great value. My food is always served quickly, whether I am dining in or getting it to-go. Their app is easy to use and loyalty program is great. If you haven't already, be sure to try the Hot Honey BBQ sauce ( from the kitchen). It is awesome! read more

Great spot to have middle of the road BBQ. Good taste, but just average to me. Always half way empty, and staff is always very nice and helpful. I mainly just come here for the gem they call "home made peach cobbler" absolutely, insanely delicious!! Try it out, its a must at Shane's. I am huge on customer service and great quality. Before I could even order anything I walked in with my sister and the manager and employee were at the cash register doing something. Not once were we acknowledged they walked away to the dining area without greeting us and then came back after 5 minutes. By that time another customer had came in and I noticed he was greeted by the manager saying "I will be with you in just a second" making full eye contact with the guy who just walked in. By that time I felt the need to not even spend my money here because that is horrible service and discrimination. I won't be eating here first impressions are everything for me. read more

I like Shane's, but unfortunately, I never remember them. Even when I lived in Norcross, I would only think of them if I passed them. Since I did not have to pass them hardly ever, that is how often I thought of them. That isn't to say anything against their food, because I like it. They are just in a bad location. This is located off of Ptree Ind Blvd after the Target plaza. It sits in a strip with other small businesses next to RaceTrac. Honestly, if you are not looking for it, I am positive you will pass it. This wasn't the down home bbq place I was trying to find in the area, but it was one of the closer places to my hotel and recommended by someone at the hotel. It is really more of a chain and typical of the order and take a number, we will call you when it is ready semi-fast food type of place. It also reminded me of other similar ordering style places that I have been to around the country - the "story" of Shane on the wall with the pictures, the counter area, the decor scattered around, etc all had a similar look and feel as these other places - which makes me wonder if they are owned by the same parent company. When I walked in my first thought was that I had been to one before, then I realized it reminded me so much of this other place. the place I am thinking of has a story on the wall in the same location as the Shane story with similar font and colors and talks about how they used to go surfing in Baja, eating tacos and they were inspired to open their own taco stand, etc. Anyway ... I got the Shack sampler so I could try a few different things. The ribs were good, but not great fall-off-the-bone tender. The pulled pork was tasty and the chicken tender was tender and moist (vs dry). The sides I got were baked beans (ok, but a little bland) and green beans (cooked nicely). It was a fair amount of food - a decent value. I couldn't eat it all. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. The fries were seasoned but cold...but the pork and ribs were satisfying. Ok so this is a redo. Post for September 25. I came back to Shane's because of the awesome customer service. Kenya the GM called because of my my earlier visit and she wanted to make it right. And boy did they ever! I ordered the sampler once again and could finish the plate! The tenders were on point! The ribs fell off the bone and the pork was smoked so so good. My server Christina "the singer" was awesome pleasant and very pretty.... Long story short Shane's rib shack deserves your visit. Payday Fridays are good for one thing at work. Eating Out!!! We all wanted something different at work so someone suggested Shanes. I'm familiar with the Dunwoody location. I ordered the Shack Sampler because I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted and this is a little bit of everything. It came with 2 Fried Tenders, Pork Ribs and Pulled Pork with two sides. I chose Onion Rings and Cole Slaw. This plate gives you plenty to eat. Too much for work to be honest but hey you can always take it home. I also order the Peach Cobbler. This place is one of the few that gets it right when it comes to Peach Cobbler. OMG!!! good. Don't waste your time with the small size get the large. The large really isn't large enough to share with anyone so don't even think about it. I'm not sharing Peach Cobbler with anybody!!! Also the chicken tenders were large enough to eat as a meal on its on seriously. BTW we called in our order and had no issues. They were very good with keeping up with the specifics of all of our orders and we didn't have to wait when we picked the food up. read more

For openers, if you believe the best barbecue is usually found in the worst part of town, in a place with bars on the windows where you wouldn't want to go at night, and where's there's just enough grease on the table to write your initials, then Shanes (none of them), are the place for you. Shanes on Peachtree Industrial is one of too many of a very large chain; think of the McDonald's of barbecue, but without the standardization from one location to the next. As someone who has spent his lifetime in pursuit of the perfect barbecue (check my other barbecue reviews) I can tell you that Shane's, even at their best store on their best day, isn't it. They have all of what you'd expect:, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and chicken, some of it fair to middlin,' none of it very good. The pulled pork at the PIB location the day we visited, tasted more like it was pulled stew meat... almost uniform lengths of pork dipped in sauce and slapped on a slab of Texas toast. The half slab of ribs was meaty and moist on one end, and dry and chewy on the small (and thinner) end. The sides we tried ranged from mediocre mac-n-cheese that tasted like it was prepackaged and warmed, to fried okra (very good) , watery Brunswick stew and some slaw that was lacking in the flavor category. On the plus side, the lady at the counter was pleasant, the service was prompt and the place was spic and span clean. The bottom line, however, is that if you really want barbecue, go looking for some real barbecue, and real barbecue is not typically served up a chain store in a strip center. Want brisket? Try Moonies Texas Barbecue only a few miles further north or Big Shanty in Kennesaw. Ribs? DaddyZ's downtown, 'Cue in Alpharetta, or Thomson Brothers in Marietta. Pulled pork? Pig n Chik inside the Perimeter or Bone Lick on Huff downtown Atlanta. The bottom line, is that barbecue was never meant to be mass produced and while the chains may be able to do right by burgers, good, solid, finger lickin' good cue has never been produced by a board room formula... the Brown Shoe Gourmet's advice is to trust your taste buds to the people for whom is barbecue is what they do and almost always, all they do. read more

Any place where meat is boiled on premise, coated in pre made bbq sauce then served to a patron is a cafeteria and should NEVER have the privilege of calling themselves a Rib Shack or advertising themselves as a Barbecue restaurant. I thought I ordered smoked chicken wings but what I got were boiled chicken wings that they finished on the grill for about 10 minutes... I shall never give these people a dime of my hard earned money ever again. read more
