If you haven't been to Just Brunch in Duluth, consider this your official wake-up call and brunch reminder! I stopped by this hidden gem around 9:00 AM on my way to an event. When I pulled up my jaw dropped from seeing all the cars. The parking lot was absolutely STACKED. I'm talking packed out with hungry brunch-goers! I immediately had that dread that I'd be waiting forever for a table. However, the universe was working in my favor. There was no wait at all! Actually there was plenty of seating both inside and the patio. I happily slid right up to the bar. My server was also the bartender, and he provided top-tier customer service. He was so genuinely nice. Honestly, the moment I saw his locs neatly and impeccably pulled back, I got that instant feeling of comfort. I knew right then and there I was in the absolute right spot. I peeked at the breakfast menu and noticed they serve alkaline water, which is a massive health and wellness plus for me. You already know that premium hydration was the very first thing I ordered to set the entire vibe. Next up was the main event of the morning. I saw the Quartet Waffles with homemade maple butter on the menu and it immediately gained my interest. That's when he asked if I wanted the regular waffles or their signature cornbread waffles. I asked him which one was more popular. Without missing a beat, he told me I had to try the cornbread. So, I trusted the expert and went for it, alongside a savory side of scrambled eggs and seasoned breakfast potatoes. I was thoroughly impressed with the culinary presentation. The eggs looked fresh, vibrant, and top-notch quality. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned and cooked to an absolute golden crisp. But those cornbread waffles? They were a gourmet masterpiece and something else entirely! I have never in my life had a cornbread waffle, and honestly, I can't see myself ever going back to a regular waffle recipe. The kitchen execution was flawless: crispy on the outside, beautifully gooey on the interior texture, and that homemade maple butter? OMG! It brought the sweet and savory profiles together in perfect harmony. It was worth every single magnificent bite! While sitting at the bar counter, I saw so much fast footwork, quick table turns, people picking up orders and high energy from the front-of-house staff. First, the restaurant is beautiful with great music playing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Pierre, the owner, introduced himself to our table. Now...the food is EXCELLENT! The pancakes are delicious and fluffy. The wings are to die for...hot, tender (bones just fall out) and yum! I've had the croissant bacon, egg & avocado sandwich; shrimp and grits too. Still superb! After hearing this was a "must-try," I finally made it in! I highly recommend making a reservation. I tried walking in previously and the wait was over an hour, but booking a day in advance got us seated right away. One thing to note is when I booked the reservation, it didn't specify that the seating would be outside. We ended up on the covered patio, which was the only thing available. While it wasn't the most comfortable setup, thank goodness the weather wasn't too hot! The restaurant is a bit smaller than expected, which explains why the wait gets so long. Had brunch with my sister and BIL. We were in town for a family function. We didn't have a reservation. From what I saw I recommend you get one. We walked in the ladies were very friendly. It wasn't very busy but started to get busy once we were seated. Amber our waitress was very sweet. I got a nice mocktail and my BIL got an espresso martini. The food. Omg!! I had the Lobster with waffles, my sister had the seafood omelette, and my BIL had the Catfish with grits. We also shared an order of the chicken wings and the hot biscuits. Hubby & I had the chance to visit Just Brunch today and it was a pleasant surprise! This was our first time visiting but it won't be our last. This establishment is beautifully decorated, has ample seating inside and outside and the staff is helpful and friendly. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find anything on the menu that was gluten free but I was able to order a veggie omelet with breakfast potatoes and meatless sausage. I would highly suggest making reservations if you visit on a Saturday because they were busy. For my cocktail, I ordered the summer rain which contained strawberry vodka. It was very sweet. To start, we ordered the fried green tomatoes. The flavor was good, but the tomatoes were mushy on the inside. For my entree, I ordered the fish and grits with the shrimp "gumbo " on the side. There was a constant flow of people into the restaurant. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were really good. The sauce that came with it added to the flavor. The Peach Glazed Salmon with Crab Fried Rice was interesting. I don't think all the elements went together. The salmon was so overcooked it was hard to break apart. The crab fried rice was cooked well but the garnish on top of the dish wasn't needed. If this is how they cook salmon each time I cannot recommend this dish. This is my 2nd time here. The first time we came was during brunch on a weekend so there was a wait so by the time the food came we got straight to it and I forgot to take pictures. The 2nd time around we came on a Friday around brunch time as well. No wait so i remembered to take pictures before diving in. The food was plentiful and delicious both times. I believe I got the lobster with waffles the first time and this time I got the Sticky wings with pancakes and my sister got the Banana French toast with sausage and a side of eggs. The wings were really good and flavorful with the right amount of crispy. My sister's French toast was very tasteful with the sauce they layered around it. The interior & decorating of the restaurant is very pretty with really nice wall art/mirrors and chandeliers. There's a bar that you can sit at from inside and outside. Seriously late for thos review! Went for a wedding, and on our final day enjoy some southern breakfast. So happy we went here. I NEVER liked grits but didn't realize i never has them cooked properly. First time at Just Brunch. I was hoping for a great birthday brunch with my wife. What we got was a good but not amazing very expensive brunch. Service was serviceable for lack of a better way to say it. The order was correct and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The issue was it felt like we were imposing on the waitress and an inconvenience even though she was not in any was rude or disrespectful. Idk, the vibes were off. The food was presented well and served at the right temperatures. I had the crabcake benedict and my wife had the oatmeal. My wife seemed to enjoy the oatmeal but I'll let her review that. The crabcake Bennie was unfortunately under seasoned and not the freshest. This is not to say it was uneatable just not what I expected for the price tag on it. If I am paying crabcake prices I expect a high quality crabcake. The grits were very good. If I were to go back I would be sure to get a dish that included them. It's SUPER busy here, so we did do a reservation on the day on Yelp (that's how it's done). We seemed to get in just in time, because the wait became extreme averaging 2 hours for a table. I ended up seeing maybe why? Our server, while very sweet, seemed very overwhelmed and it took a while for her to get to us. Also our food took a while to get to us. And even though the Strawberry mimosas we had plus my dish (the JB All American with Beyond Sausage) was overall good, it was cold except for the pancakes. The food definitely seemed like it was sitting under a food lamp. It was good though, inching the coffee! Not happy about the syrup coming to me in a plastic container. They do have milk alternatives too for your coffee, which I was given dairy but asked for an alternative. I wish I was asked prior to receiving it lol... but also they have gender neutral bathroom which I'm so glad for!! It's hard not to come back as even our friends want to try them! Nasty. Meal took an hour but they still wanted to keep us at to the 90 minutes. I bit into a mushy raw pork sausage even though when I cut it, it wasn't pink inside so I thought I was all good. I got a fried lobster tail. It was beyond salty, all batter and ice cold. I tried to make the best of it by asking for some warm drawn butter to dip into the little bit of lobster that was there. They gave me butter packets and said they don't have drawn butter . After nasty sausage and burnt up lobster tail, I just tossed it up and kindly asked for that $28 portion of food be removed from my bill. I decided on the Bananas Foster French Toast with bacon, and Wifey went with the Veggie Omelet with no mushrooms. I checked out the place while waiting for our food. The main dining area was dimly lit, and I noticed another counter across from ours with similar seating. I also noticed they had additional seating in their outside covered patio area. The food came out super fast and looked and tasted great. Wifey and I swapped a corner of our dishes and everything was delicious. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We waited outside for about 30 minutes for our table, which I could understand given how busy the restaurant was. It was clear our waitress was overwhelmed and responsible for several large parties at once, and I do want to acknowledge that the kitchen staff helped bring food out to tables. However, service overall felt extremely stretched thin. Drinks sat empty for long periods of time, and we were rarely checked on unless we specifically flagged someone down. The biggest issue was my meal. I ordered the crab cake benedict, which is supposed to come with poached eggs. Instead, my plate arrived 20-30 minutes after the rest of my table had already started eating, and it came out with piping hot hard-boiled eggs -- with shell still on them. Before I even had a chance to point out the mistake, the food was dropped off and staff rushed away. After finally getting our waitress's attention, I asked if the dish could be corrected. Another 15 minutes passed before they started bringing out poached eggs separately. At that point, my original plate had gone completely cold and honestly no longer looked appetizing, so I politely asked if I could switch to something else instead. Even our waitress seemed nervous about asking management, which made the situation uncomfortable. By this point, everyone else at my table had already finished eating and were simply waiting on my food. I eventually asked for the replacement meal to just be boxed to go. My wife then politely asked the manager if they could comp my meal considering the delays and mistakes. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, the manager became combative and made snide remarks questioning why I changed my order instead of keeping the same dish, while insinuating that I was just trying to get a free meal. The entire interaction left a bad taste in my mouth because at no point did it feel like anyone wanted to truly acknowledge or take accountability for the mistake, even while the untouched food sat in front of me at the table. I understand restaurants get busy, and I genuinely tried to stay patient and respectful throughout the experience. Also in reading the description I thought it was going to have additional shrimp on top & not just the shrimp in the gumbo but I could appreciate the chicken sausage in the gumbo. Came on a late Saturday morning. Our wait was only 10 minutes but we only had a party of two. There was definitely a wait-list throughout the entire time we were there. The seating felt a little cramped especially if you order more than one drink and an appetizer. The service was quite friendly and the food came out quite quickly. We ordered the oxtail tacos, a fried catfish sandwich and the meat lovers omelet. The portions were large and everything tasted great. I thought the catfish was cooked very well and it came with two pieces on the sandwich, which also has fried tomatoes and was served with a salad. The omelet was thick and tasted as expected. I got it with cheese grits and came with a croissant. The oxtail tacos came with a jicama slaw. You can taste the sweetness and the meat was tender. It was on the higher price and but very tasty and a good experience. I would go back. read more
