Adorable interior! Great place for brunch, lunch, and tea with your girlfriends. Pretty big space with lots of seating. Brunch menu selections are limited but they have other options for lunch too. Had french toast and shrimp and grits. Both were delicious! French toast wasn't too sweet, which I really liked since I usually don't order french toast with concern it may be too sweet like dessert. Portions were also pretty big! Service was also very fast and friendly. Waiter came to check on us frequently and was very prompt in getting us our food and drinks. Creole shrimp and grits - lots of delicious fresh shrimp and man that creole sauces goodness was so delicious! Fried green tomato eggs Benedict - I've had my fair share of eggs Benedict to the point where I could eat any more of it at one point. But this one really surprised me how delicious it was. I'm not even a big fried green tomato fan but it was 100% yum. I also got the seafood chowder which was the soup of the day as my side and that was also delicious. Loved the Bloody Mary too! They also gave us some scones that we were super delicious and complimentary. The atmosphere walking in feels very warm and welcoming. It feels high end, but the pricing isn't insane. The staff was very friendly and quick to greet and make sure all your needs are met. The French onion was good, but a little messy because a lot of soup I'm a small dish. So just be prepared to make a little bit of a mess if ordering that, but it's great. The salads are HUGE! This place is a solid 4 stars for me, maybe even a 4.5. And psst. Yelp also gives you 8% cash back... The menu was limited, but everything looked good. The hubs and I shared the fried pickle wedges. There was a sort of sweetness to it. Perhaps due to it being fried? It was good and something different. The complimentary blueberry (or cranberry) scones were superb with the butter. The butter was rather interesting as it had bits and pieces of something in it (the hubs said it was pears or something of the like). For our entrees, he had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with a soup of the day while I had the crab cake sandwich special with the broccoli pasta salad. The hubs' fried chicken sandwich was good; it was crispy and had lots of flavors. It was simple, but the ingredients came together well. He choose the soup of the day which was a tomato soup bisque with havarti cheese (I don't remember what it's called exactly), and it was really creamy and yummy. This was a great combination, and I would highly rec it. I was aiming for the grilled salmon sandwich ... but the crab cake sandwich on toast-like bread sounded so much unhealthier and delicious. The sandwich was good, but a bit on the saltier side bc of the crab cake. I choose the broccoli pasta salad, and it was super creamy and pretty flavorful. The only thing I wished was different was not have the bread soaked with butter/oil. It was sort of like a grilled cheese sandwich where your fingers get all greasy. [Even the leftovers were greasy and soaked thru the new parchment paper AND paper towel] It was sort of difficult to call in order to get a reservation. My advice is call a little bit after the restaurant opens. If you call towards the middle or end, it's not a guarantee that you will get anyone. It's strange bc the place wasn't packed when we arrived there. I guess the staff bounces between the Payne-Corley House and this place since it's owned and managed by the same folks. I wouldn't of known the existence of this place if I didn't get married here. We actually forgot about this place and almost let our coupon expire. They have pretty limited hours and the menu is pretty small but everything looked delicious. We got fried pickles as an appetizer. It was delicious. Most places that have friend pickles are too salty or sour. Even my wife enjoyed it and she doesn't like pickles as I do. The scones were delicious and warm. I liked the butter that had some pear flavor to it. I had a fried chicken sandwich with soup and my wife had the crab cake sandwich with broccoli pasta salad. The chicken was pretty basic but it was probably one of the better fried-chicken sandwiches I've had. My wife's crab cake sandwich was also pretty decent. It was greasier than I liked but it was tasty enough. I've had some amazing crab crake living in Baltimore so this doesn't really compare. We couldn't finish our food since it was pretty heavy for brunch. Would I come here again? Maybe. They have some odd hours and it's mostly a wedding venue. Wow! What a hidden gym. Great atmosphere as the restaurant is quite literally a little cottage tucked away by beautiful downtown Duluth. The pimento cheese appetizer was awesome. I never even knew this place existed until my friend suggested we go here. We came in for a late lunch. I love the little sitting area in the front. It's super inviting. The menu is not large but there were many items I wanted to try. Truth be told, I wanted to skip lunch and go straight to one of the desserts I saw advertised on the sign outside. ‍ Our server, George, also happened to be the general manager. He gladly answered all of our questions and let us know that everything is made fresh on site, with the exception of some rolls. I ordered the spinach salad with some chicken salad on the side. The salad was good and the balsamic vinaigrette was a perfect dressing choice. I make great chicken salad and am pretty critical of others. This one was great. My friend had a chicken salad croissant with a side of fried green tomatoes. She loved it. And she also said she is picky about her chicken salad. We were told that they also open for special events. They serve high tea and are willing to open up for a group as long as there are at least 40 in the group. I think that would be a blast. So I have been wanting to try this place out for awhile. My daughter is home from college, it's her birthday and we go in, tell the gentleman we have a reservation at 12:30 - he asked "when was the reservation made?" I said "3weeks ago" right then I knew there was going to be an issue . He is arguing with me that there is no way I could of made the reservation because they don't have it down . I said " well I did and I made it for today because it's my daughters bday " and he says " if you want to wait 45 mins we can accommodate " no apology , no anything .. I hesitate between making a scene or just calmly waking out . Decide the place was. It worth my energy and so glad I didn't waste my money on a place that can't seem to get their act together nor do they seem to care . When looking for an event sight for an evening rehearsal dinner, look no further. I hostessed my son's rehearsal dinner at Cottage on the Main in October 2019. We had 58 guests that evening, with many out of town guests. George and his staff made the evening perfect. I have never had so many, many guests rave about the location, service and food. I cannot even begin to tell you how excellent the food was!! People are still talking about the multi course meal and how they have not had such great food from beginning to end of courses in a long time. The service was great too! We were also able to bring in a few things to personalize the place for the evening, but otherwise, it was set for a walk in and enjoy experience. What a great find! We searched the internet from New Jersey and fortunately found this venue for a Rehearsal Dinner through the Payne-Corley House, which is right next door and is part of the same business establishment. We chose the Cottage because of the more intimate setting, and our preference to meal structures. George was wonderful to work with, and the communication couldn't have been better over the months of planning, even though we were 900 miles away. We went way beyond a normal rehearsal dinner and invited out-of-town guests from both families. The invite list was actually over 60, but the actual dinner was a more reasonable mid-40 count. The setting was a warm room leading out to a walk-around porch. We had guests meandering in and out over the course of the evening to take breaks and to gather in smaller ever-changing clusters. The service was spot-on perfect. The servers even rolled with the fact that people were switching seats to "visit" with others. The food was not pre-ordered, like most venues, but was chosen from a sit-down menu (when people finally sat down) and was prepared on demand. Many folks ordered roasted pork tenderloin that absolutely melted in your mouth! We actually had a couple people toasting the food! I cannot more highly recommend this wonderful place. You will not be disappointed. read more
