Prime location in downtown Duluth. Good layout ~ lofty ceilings for spacious feel while cozy booths for conversation. Great vibe. Poor service ~ server not that knowledgeable with the brew styles. Took a bit to get our simple pours. Great selection of style brews, server could not come up with a recommendation and nothing wow'd the taste buds. You gotta know your beer. Pricey food for what you get.

Good Vibes at Good Word Brewing! I love the outdoor area, we actually stopped through for a few cocktails and ended up with fries and boiled peanuts. The waitress missed the mark by serving others that came after us, but all and all it was a good experience. Fast service and really good cocktails. Next time we will try the flights.... and the fries were Devine.

Brussels and kale Caesar

Stopped in for a quick lunch. I've been before, but this time the food left a deeper impression. The menu leans French in all the right ways--Georgia beef tartare with smoked trout roe, cured egg yolk, and green onion. I didn't order it, only because I've got plans to make my own at home later this week. Still, it stood out. What I did have were the crispy chicken livers with boiled peanut mayo. I don't say this lightly: best chicken livers I've had in my life. Light, tender, no grit. Whoever their poultry purveyor is, they're doing God's work. The Brussels and kale Caesar came next--Tuscan kale from Tucker Farms, just northwest of Atlanta. White anchovies (real ones, not paste), shaved Brussels, sunflower seeds, Parm. Balanced and smart. Anchovies were just there enough to matter without being loud about it. Finished with a bologna sandwich. Simple. Reminded me of watching The Price Is Right with my grandmother after school. Nostalgia's not on the menu, but it showed up anyway. Everything was a 10. Wouldn't change a single thing. I'll be back, and I'll bring people. That's how good it was.

Came here for lunch. We were seated right away. We got the 10 piece wings, cheeseburger and spicy crispy Caesar wrap. The wings were big and definitely flavorful. I also really enjoyed the ranch that came with it. The spicy caesar was good but not very spicy. It was definitely filled tho. The fries were really good! They were hand cut fries and definitely really fresh. Overall, really enjoyed this spot and definitely will be back.

Grilled Quail over rice noodles special.

Been here several times. The food and service are worth it. We've had a variety of appetizers from the pickle plate to chicken tenders. The braised beef & cheddar sandwich is a winner. The fries have lots of optional sides sauces that are out of this world. The chili oil or the gochujang are winners. They have some non spicy options like dill pickle rance as well. Last visit they had a guest chef item on the menu from George Yu at Noona. Grilled Quail over rice noodles with fresh herbs and a Tamarind sauce. Not heavy like a sandwich and fries but satisfying and really good. The covered patio has overhead heaters which makes it good on chilly fall or winter days. You can't go wrong choosing this place for a lively night at the bar or a quiet corner outside.

Whiskey menu. Great selection, some priced a bit high.

Great bar atmosphere and an excellent selection of bourbon and other libations. Decent selection of beers, but nothing on the darker end of the spectrum. Seating was quick on a Thursday night. Server arrived promptly and was educated on available items. Prices are slightly high, but becoming the norm. Food was excellent, even if the pasta was slightly under seasoned. Very good selection of house cocktails. The ice cube in my drink was amazing. Large and crystal clear,it melted very slowly, avoiding watering down the drink. Will definitely return when in the area. Worth a 20-30 min drive easily.

Came by with some friends for an evening of drinks and chitchat a couple weeks ago. I'd heard the Georgia micro-brewery scene has been buzzing and was curious to try some more local offerings in person. This is a perfect place to do a beer flight $11 by choosing four options from their menu of about two dozen beers on tap. Wine and other cocktails are available too. Between a friend and I, we tried the following: - HALDA - Munich-Style Dunkel 12oz 4.8% - DARK EMBERS - Smoked Black Lager 12oz 4.7% - COMFORT IN THE DARK - Cold Black IPA 12oz 6.6% - DEPARTING FOR THE STARS - Czech-Style Dark Lager 12oz 4.7% - BURY ME IN THE SKY - Czech Amber Lager 12oz 4.4% - FACE FOR RADIO - American Pale Ale 12oz 5% - OPHELIA - Berliner Weisse 160z 4.5% - KEEP FORGETTING WHY I CAME English-Style Barleywine 10oz 10.8% The first 4 were all darker lagers so to my untrained palette tasted quite similar, deeper coffee/cocoa bitter notes. The Czech amber lager was mildly sweet and malty. The American pale ale was hoppy, mildly citrusy and bubbly. The Berlin weisse was exactly as described--tart, dry and fruity like a sour should be, though honestly the yeasty tartness isn't my favorite (kinda reminds me of acid reflux :( ), I kinda missed the part about it being a sour in the description. The English-style barleywine was an interesting one, this is my first time having something like this and the profile was unexpected. It tasted almost like a fruity caramel flavor. Sorry not exactly selling it, though it was really lovely and I'd go back to try this again. They happened to be out of the Holographic Heart, Penelope, and Never Sleep when we were there. Still quite a few options to choose from though! When we arrived around 8pm the place was maybe 60% full, may clearing out to about 20-25% by the time 10:00pm rolled around on a Saturday night. The inside is very nice, there's a large rectangular bar in the center with booths along the outside walls and tables in between. Wood-tone walls are inset with bookshelves, a few flatscreen tvs, and framed art. Floor to ceiling paned glass windows line one side of the building. The outdoor walls are decorated with colorful murals lending an air of vibrancy to the bar seating and barrel-top high tables set up outside. The waitress for our table was friendly and helped us take a couple group photos. Thoroughly enjoyed my evening here and would love to come back.

This place is a vibe. It's pretty spacious with an immaculate bar right in the middle of the restaurant. Right as you walk in you feel an energy that's welcoming and ready to give you a good time. The appetizers, which I forgot to take photos of, were incredible. The wings with spicy gochujang sauce were my personal favorite. They were the right amount of crispy and saucy. For my entree I ordered the spicy chicken wrap. The chicken was great but it was not as spicy as I had hoped. Also, the amount of time between appetizer and entree was ridiculously long. Not sure if they were backed up but it didn't seem all too busy. The long wait time between courses is what keeps this as a 4 and not a 5. Next time I'm in Duluth, I'll probably be back for the wings and see what beers they have on tap.

Nice evening with family. We were sat right away and served our food fast. Everything was delicious.

Top left: fried chicken livers (my favorite) Bottom: bucket of fried chicken Right: French fries came

Came here with a large group of 13 people with no reservation and the service was so friendly and got us a table quickly. The vibe was a brewery decked out in Christmas spirit and twas very festive. Our waitress, dressed in a cute elf costume, was super friendly and catered perfectly to our group of 13. We ordered a round of their barley wine (10% abv; strong!) and it was deliciously sweet. The chicken liver was my favorite, it was fried nice and crispy with the peanut mayo sauce as a great compliment. The fried chicken was good, but a bit on the dry side. French fries came with sauce of choice, we got the garlic aoli Also, as far as pricing goes, everything was very agreeable and I will definitely be coming back for the good food, great drinks, and amazing service

Nice spot in the downtown Duluth area. Unfortunately, I can't give you a lot of information on the food, but the french fries were simply delicious. Hand cut to. We just stop for a couple of drinks as we were walking around, enjoying the scenery. The service was a.. Bit slow, but nice and pleasant.

A nice large space with a beautiful bar in the middle. It was a gorgeous night so there were no outside tables available so we sat inside. Our booth was large and comfortable for 6 of us. The staff were very friendly and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the beers and made good recommendations. For appetizers we had the fries and boiled peanuts. Both were delicious. We didn't eat dinner but rather just came for drinks and apps. We will definitely visit again when in the area!

Randomly came here for after dinner drinks and the atmosphere of the outdoor seating in this cold weather so immaculate. They have heaters all across the top of the ceiling so it was so lovely to enjoy these cocktails with some boiled peanuts outside and people watch. Such a nice restaurant and our sever was amazing so sweet and working so hard. Drinks could have been stronger especially mine which was a vodka based one.

HYDE is one of those places you keep rooting for, even when you're not totally sure why. Brewery…read morevibes, Ceviche running the kitchen, quirky energy, good location. We've been regulars for a long time, usually popping in once a week for tacos and a drink, hoping each visit will be "the one" where everything finally clicks. There was a promising stretch when Ian was managing. Food quality went up, service felt dialed in, and HYDE seemed to be finding its footing. Since he left, the experience has slipped into what I'd describe as "depends on the night and the moon phase." Exhibit A: the margaritas. We've waited close to 40 minutes more than once. Not for a complicated chef's cocktail, or something smoked under a glass dome. Just a standard margarita. At the 25 minute mark, you start speculating about whether someone is hand harvesting sea salt in the parking lot. By minute 35, you're convinced they're distilling the tequila in a basement barrel and blessing the limes under a full moon. When your drink shows up later than your patience, it kills the vibe pretty fast. Food is similar. Some days, the tacos are fresh, bright, well seasoned, and plated like someone cared. Other days, they look like they fell apart on the way over and someone just shrugged and sent them anyway. We've also had incorrect orders enough times that sending plates back is basically a standing tradition at this point. Ingredient changes have shown up recently too, like new fries and chips. As longtime customers, it feels like cost cutting, and that's usually a red flag that business has dipped. Swapping ingredients to save a few dollars rarely turns things around. It's more often the first step toward empty seats. Which is the frustrating part, because HYDE truly has potential. The space is cool. The embedded Ceviche concept is unique. The community honestly wants this restaurant to succeed. But it needs stronger leadership, steadier service, and more consistent execution if it wants people to come back the way they used to. We're still rooting for HYDE. Because when the drinks arrive before you age 10 years and the tacos are right, it can hit just right. Bring back the quality, tighten up the service tempo, and deliver consistently, and HYDE could absolutely be the neighborhood spot everyone wants it to be. Until then, we'll keep crossing our fingers... and maybe pre gaming our margaritas at home.
