One of my favorite spots to grab a bite in downtown Alpharetta! I've been here a few times but went there most recently for Fathers Day dinner. I love how convenient it is to park nearby either in the street or in the deck, and inside Jekyll there's always plenty of seating inside or on the roof (I always opt for the roof when I can though because of the great view of downtown Alpharetta!). It's seat yourself and then staff will come around to take your order. I had their summer shandy beer, Hop Shan Diggity, while my dad tried their amber, the Cooter Brown. We both liked our beers we tried. For dinner, I love their Shrimp Roll. It's the perfect summer bite and always light and tasty! The fries it comes with are also seasoned super well! One of my good friends asked me to grab a beer with him at Jekyll Brewing. He has lived in this area for a while and never had an opportunity to visit until this day. The ambiance was pretty laid back and the staff was really friendly. It's nice to visit an establishment where the patrons are even laid back and willing to recommend their favorite adult beverages. They have plenty of room, games and space for large groups so don't be afraid to bring a bunch of people with you when you go. Now on to the beer... because I am limiting my sprit intake (as I get ready for my summer dad bod) I did partake in a "Flight" so I could try more than one beer without purchasing a 16oz... its a great option if you want to taste several flavors. I sampled the "Southern Juice," the "Cooter Brown," the "Long Time Coming," and my favorite "The Pineapple Habanero Hop Dang!" My buddy had the same (Great Minds Think Alike!) with the exception of him selecting "Blackberry Wheat" vice my " Cooter Brown. I had a wonderful evening with friends, good food, and a very nice beer at Jekyll's brewing in Alpharetta, Georgia. The atmosphere was very light, with background music playing, although not overwhelming as the ceilings are so high. They have microbrew tanks right there in the midst of their crowd, and the bartender is very knowledgeable about what is being brewed at that particular time. There is a minimal choice of food, but all seems to be very delicious and presented very well. For the ladies, the bathrooms are very clean and spacious, and there are two separate bathrooms to accommodate the clientele. Excellent brewery with a tasty habanero pineapple IPA. Liked it so much that I brought it home canned. We were nearly alone when we sampled our brews. Plenty of parking when you arrive. This place feels like it's part of an office park. Out front on the small green are a few weathers wooden lounge chairs and of course no real brewery is complete without a got stock of games including corn hole outside and inside a few fun electronic games such as air hockey. We didn't notice any food, which was fine. The glass our beer was served in was unique. We had just one memorable beer here and our tend was very efficient with the recommendation and letting us taste / sample a few before buying. Jekyll Brewing is right by our house. We always drive by and finally decided to visit on a Saturday afternoon. We frequent the location in downtown Alpharetta with is one of our faves - so we already knew we loved the beer. There were quite a few people, but plenty of space to get comfortable. There were tons of games to play (electronic, table, and board games) and I could totally see spending hours here meeting up with friends. It was quite nice to see so many people socializing together as it has been a such a long time since that was feasible. The vibe here was so cool. Super laid back which we love. The music was alternative rock when we were there. The man serving the beer was both friendly and helpful. We both opted for flights and really enjoyed sampling so many of the beers. All of the beers are awesome and you cannot really go wrong with anything you choose. There is honestly something for everyone (including so many sours which I adore). The only thing I wish were different would be the ability to order food. I saw some people purchasing nuts (or small trail mixes maybe) but otherwise there is nothing really to eat. this is located up in Alpharetta. We happen upon this place when looking for breweries. It's more of a bar/brewery. it's got tables, outdoor seating and a bar seating area with TVs. there is street parking and I'm not sure if there's other parking but we parked on the street which was free. It's located in a nice area. There's tons of restaurants, places to walk around, ice cream stores, shopping etc around the area. The bar/restaurant/brewery itself has an outdoor area and fake grass for kids to play out in the front in. It's a beautiful place to go on nice days and I believe they have a rooftop bar too. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartender was nice. It wasn't super busy but they were pretty rushed. food came out quick! We ended up getting some beers which were great. I got the Chicago style hotdogs, not exactly like Chicago though. We also got tacos which were good. Overall really cool place. Great area wonderful set up, great place for a quick date, friends, family, after work. They have TVs as well. Prices are decent. Will definitely be back here. My first encounter with Jekyll Brewing was one evening having dinner at at a Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen restaurant in the Norcross/Duluth, GA area. They had the Hop Dang Diggity IPA on their beer menu - which I very much enjoyed! When I discovered the brewery name and location - I knew I had to visit the craft brewery in person and experience the other ale options! I visited late one weekday evening - a Wednesday evening. I had a chance to stop here after I a walk with some friends on the nearby Trail. There weren't very many people there at the time so there was plenty of seating. Someone came over to our table right away to give us the drink menus. After giving us a little bit of time to check out the menus, he returned to take our orders. However, since the majority of us (myself included) are not really beer drinkers we have several questions before making our selections. I tried the Hop Shan Diggity and one other in the 4oz. Had a fabulous time. Went for the second Monday of every month comedy show. It started promptly at 8 and lasted till about 9:45. They start seating at 7:00 for those who have tickets. I am not sure of the price as I was able to come with a friend who had an extra. The comedians were entertaining and I can say it was better than a night dating my DVR. I was unclear of the food situation so I ate at home, but it was nice to see that the brewery hosted Mellow Mushroom and we had the option to purchase a slice or two if hungry. I've visited Jekyll about a dozen times, but my most recent visit was my first since last year's law change. It's amazing to see how much the place has changed over the past few years- it just keeps getting better. ATMOSPHERE Like so many other breweries in the metro area, Jekyll is located in an office park. It can be a little difficult to spot at first (very small sign out front, though they recently put up big flags to guide you!), but once you're there, there's plenty of parking and you'll see corn hole and colorful chairs out front. The interior is large, with two big rooms making up the tasting room: one side has the bar, while the other has lots of TVs and games (air hockey, arcade games, etc.). Both sides have TONS of seating now...far more than most other breweries. The entire space is well-decorated and hides the "office space" feel so well. Others have noted that there's no food here, but you're free to bring food in and there are tons of restaurants just minutes away on Windward Parkway. BEER With 20+ beers on tap, you're bound to find something you like. Prices are standard for the "core beers" ($2.50 4-oz, $3.50 10-oz, $5 pint), including my favorite: the Pineapple Habanero Hop Dang Diggity IPA. It's great in the bottle, but way better on tap. The taproom exclusives are a little pricier ($3.50 4-oz, $6.25 10-oz) and include all sorts of crazy flavors. I really enjoyed trying the Hop Shan Diggity shandy and Juicy Juice NEIPA. For all you hipsters, Jekyll also offers cider (two varieties on tap this visit) and cold brew coffee. SERVICE Have always had great experiences with the staff here- all friendly and knowledgeable. I really liked this Brewery. Everyone working there was happy to be there and nice to talk to. For $12 you get 6 beer sample tickets. They had about 5 different beers. I tried each of them and my favorite was naturally Octoberfest! I got a couple of those! There was lots to do also. For example, you could take a beer tour of their facility or play a large version of Jenga or "Free play" Pinball! We came in a group of 4 and had a great time. We came on Father's Day Eve where they had some specials to celebrate us Father's. My wife and I enjoyed a couple of beers a piece while listening to the band play. We took my two daughters which was the coolest part. Even though they're underage, it was great to have them get to hang with us. The food is good along with the beers which are crafted and served nicely chilled. One of us was offered a beer sample to make sure they liked it first which was nice. The beer menu is confusing as beers are written $4/8 (Yes the 8's do not have the $ sign in front of them). We asked for 2 small beers of our selection and got charged $8 for each beer. Not sure if it's misleading or just us misunderstanding the prices. The waitress was kind. The lunch and dinner menus have similar dishes but ingredients vary from menus, upon asking , she said they are the exact same dishes. Two employees had an argument which came to hands and one walked outside the place cursing! The crew does not seem happy to be there. Tipping is done via a handheld and 20% is already selected and she tells you in a hurry to push "Accept" LOL. I guess to make sure you don't tip less (I always tip 20% minimum) but i know some folks don't tip! The place is very clean and decorated like inside a brewery but the atmosphere is not to our liking, felt cold. it's just our opinion others might like it. Jekyll Brewing is Alpharetta's first brewery having opened its doors in August 2013. Its brand identity is closely tied to the rich local history. The name itself honors the first brewery of the Deep South established on Jekyll Island in 1738. I visited the brewery on the second night after its opening for a tour and tasting. The build-out is far from complete but they wanted to open as soon as possible so that the locals could start enjoying their beer. As a result, the public area / tap room was still rather bare during my visit. But it is a very large space and they have grand plans for it. They will be bringing in a number of old school pinball and arcade machines for customers to play, along with ample tables, seating and large screen TVs. As of right now there isn't much in the front-of-house area except for the bar for tastings. But that's what's really important, right? Tour guide Brandon was very enthusiastic and informative as he led my group through the brewery. They've got an impressive operation and it's clear that they are well prepared to meet local demand for Jekyll beer. We were told a lot about the history of local brewing and how Jekyll pays homage to its roots. These guys are passionate both about quality beer and about playing a role in the South's continually changing brewing traditions. It's exciting to hear what they have planned for the future. But ultimately, what really matters is the beer. Jekyll offers beer tastings and tours weeknights Tues-Fri (5:00-9:00) and Saturdays (1:00-9:00). The cost is $12. For that price you get a pint glass and four beer tickets. **UPDATE--Jekyll's website now indicates that each tasting comes with 6 beer tickets as opposed to 4.** The pint glasses are shaped like mason jars--another homage to the South. Upon opening there were three beers available: Hop Diggity Dang IPA, Big Creek Kolsch, and Cooter Brown Ale. Plans are to release additional beers before the year's end, including an Oktoberfest, a porter and a stout. Each of the three launch beers is excellent. I'm not a huge fan of IPAs in general, but the Hop Diggity Dang is perfectly balanced without being overly hoppy. It's clear that a lot of care went into each of these brews. The Kolsch is crisp, refreshing and easy to drink, while still maintaining a complex flavor profile. The brown ale is sweet, malty and satisfying. After sampling all three, I had a very difficult time deciding which beer to spend my fourth ticket on. They were all so good that it was a tough choice. (I finished with a second brown ale.) The story behind each of the beers is just as fascinating as the story of the brewery itself. I particularly enjoyed the tale of Cooter Brown. During the Civil War, he didn't want to fight so he found a loophole stating that men could not be drafted while drunk. His solution was to stay inebriated throughout the war to dodge the draft. Ingenious, and the perfect name for a southern brown ale! I was curious as to why Jekyll limits its tastings to four pours, while some other local breweries (Red Hare) allow six pours during tastings. I was told that it's actually a legal restriction, and that in order to offer six pours the brewery must pay tens of thousands of dollars in extra fees to the government. So it's understandable to me that a new brewery having just opened its doors would be hesitant to shell out that extra money when their operations are just starting up. Hopefully that will change in time. However, I do feel that the $12 price for tastings is too high. The standard locally seems to be $10 for a tasting and tour. That seems like a more reasonable price to me. The brewery is located at the Windward Pkwy access point on the Big Creek Greenway, making it a great location for locals looking to bike/run/skate the Greenway and then stop off for a couple of beers. All of the staff members were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and eager to talk during my visit. I really enjoyed chatting with the bartenders, the tour guide and the brew master. This is a group of passionate beer makers that is already producing an outstanding product. I look forward to drinking plenty of Jekyll brew in the coming months; both at the brewery, and in various bars, restaurants and growler stores around town. read more

This is an industrial/office building that looks like a warehouse when you walk in. In the state of Georgia breweries cannot sell beer directly to customers. They can however sell tours of the brewery with beer as a free souvenir. Jekyll does that quite well. You get six beer tickets and a take home crowler or six pack for an $18 tour. There are several board games, ping pong table, Jenga and a couple of free Arcade game machines. We went here on a Saturday and it was packed. It took us a little while to find seats but our group of six eventually found seats. Standing/walking around drinking beer isn't bad either. I like darker hoppier beers in general and I liked their pineapple habanero IPA the best. Their stout was also good. The lager and wheat beers here are mediocre compared to others out there but the IPAs are good! The pineapple habanero had a good kick to it but it was not too spicy and I ended up taking the free souvenir crowler home with this IPA . This would pair well with Asian food and of course pizza with spicy toppings. The bartenders were really good and yes the pours are generous. When I didn't like something the guy just replaced it with something I asked for. The souvenir glass is a cute mason jar and fits the southern branding of the company. The guy that gave the tour seemed to love working there. Their brewery was clean and organized. Even in the milling room there was minimal dust. Clean brewing areas are always a good sign. read more

You can find Jekyll Brewing at 2855 Marconi Dr Ste 3500 Alpharetta Georgia 30005 - this is near the big McKesson complex off of Windward Pkwy right off 400. The building itself looks rather unlikely for a brewery - it's one of those industrial business parks that usually hold call-centers or office and warehouse business. Parking is in the lot out front - it's usually quite busy on the weekends but the rest of the businesses are closed so there's plenty of parking. Note that there are several doors that are marked with the Jekyll logo and only one opens into their reception area. Once inside you'll find a large room with bags of grains on the far end and a short counter to pay, pick up tickets and get your beer poured. The day's selection will be posted on the wall behind - their standards are pretty much always in stock and there's usually one or two rotating brews. You'll get a string of tickets and a Jekyll Brewing pint mason jar providing a bit of uniqueness and fun you won't see at other breweries. Towards the short stage (they apparently have live music at times but not on the day that I visited) there are other things to do including a ping-pong table. I had heard of Jekyll as I'm fairly active on KickStarter and other crowdfunding sites but I really had no expectations (and didn't contribute) but do remember that there were quite successful. It's obvious that the people who started Jekyll love beer - one taste of the deliciously hoppy Hop Dang Diggity will convert you for sure if you're into IPAs. I fell in love with that one the first time I tried it on draft (at the Pig 'n Chick in Chamblee if you're wondering) so I was quite excited about visiting this brewery and sampling the other wares. My first impression before stepping inside was to question what was going on - the office-park just didn't seem like the right place for a brewery. However, once inside and touring the facilities I've been totally converted and love-love this place! Before I talk about what I sampled, the people here are super friendly with no attitude and great at serving visitors. You can tell that what they do is a labor of love, that like I said previously they love beer, and that they really want to know the people that also love their products. Second, the pours here are quite generous and you can tell by the way they watch your reaction at first sip, they enjoy the looks of pleasure - I can say from personal experience that the reaction is worth it's weight in gold to craft brewers and there's plenty of smiling, happy faces here. Third, we met several people here and struck up conversations so this wasn't your typical douchey hipster crowd - I found it refreshing to find people who love beer that didn't have the attitude I've experienced at other, similar establishments intown. I also liked this tour - some unexpected things going on and the space is much larger than it appears from the front. Make sure you take time to do this. On to the beer - * Hop Dang Diggity - they call this a "Southern IPA" but I think of it more of an over-hopped IPA. You'll definitely get a super hit of hops that will remind you of pine - or weed (the smoking kind), in fact some of my friends think this is as close to drinking Maryjane as you can get. Delicious with a balance of sweet and citrus that any fan of hops will love. * Cooter Brown - "American Brown Ale" and like most brown ales, a bit on the sweeter side. I love the feel of this one on the sides of the mouth, lots of caramel and malt. I liked this but a bit too sweet for me - I found most of the females I talked to really enjoyed it. * Hoot'n Holler'n - double IPA and an investment (two tickets) that's well worth it. I liked this one quite a bit but I felt the alcohol slightly overpowering. I prefer the alcohol hit to be hidden a bit more - a couple of these had my head swimming a bit (was given some extra tickets)... I pretty much stuck with the Hop Dang Diggity or the Hoot'n Holler'n but did sample the JR Series Pale Ale which was good but with the Dang Diggity I'm not sure why you would drink it. I also sipped the Big Creek Kolsch and the Southern Session but neither were "my thang" so I didn't do more than taste. In all, this brewery was quite a lot of fun and the beer way above average with some fantastic examples. It is a bit far out but if you combine it with a tour of Cherry Street (in Canton) and Hop Alley Brew Pub you can stay quite buzzed all day (moderating with food in between, of course). Finish up by hitting Zest in Roswell so you can sit on the patio and yell at passers-by and make a real event of it. We stopped here cause one of us heard about the beers and so while being in town. I had 1 beer and that was it for me but the other guys seem to have liked there's. They had a band our server was friendly. read more

It says indiana on the ticket you get on it but this is a ticket u need to get a 'tasting' of a beer in GEORGIA......... Legislators in this state must be effin sleeping. As I understand it...this is the last state where u can not go into a brewery and try their beer. You have to buy a "tour" and that includes samples...,COME ON!!!! Who is kidding who???? Anyway. Jekyll brewing knows what they are doing. read more
