Variant

What a cool spot to hang out with friends and family. Get yourself to Variant. They have some amazing brews on tap and awesome staff ready to serve you. I came on Saturday and the place was hoppin, pun intended. Keenan's BBQ was on-site as well and serving up great BBQ for college game day. Once you get here find a spot to post up and get in line. I had the Cashmere and Cloud Forager. Totally recommend for folks who want a NE IPA, there's also DIPA if you are feeling adventurous. It's a bit noisy inside so check out the patio if you want to get some fresh air and enjoy company. Love this spot near Downtown Roswell. A great gem for the area.

Variant is often cited as one of the best breweries in metro Atlanta, and is known for their top class hazy pale ales. My wife and I were in the area and decided to enjoy a post lunch beer at this small Roswell brewery. The vibe here is clean and warehouse-y with a small outdoor patio. We received friendly service from the bartender and ordered a flight of 4 beers for me and a sour for my wife. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of hazy IPAs and the selection here leans heavily towards that genre. Still, I tried a couple in my flight and particularly enjoyed a citra hopped, lighter hazy pale ale called "Cloud Forager". I also dug the year round Norcross St west coast IPA. The other two selections (the Helles and one of the many hazy IPAs) were decent enough but not my favorite. My wife enjoyed her pour of the raspberry lemon gose which tasted refreshing and mildly tart. Parking here is kind of an issue. Even though we visited the brewery at the ostensibly off hour of Thursday at 2pm, there was only one parking spot left in the small lot. I can imagine parking being far more troublesome if you go on a weekend or in the evening, so plan accordingly. Ultimately, we enjoyed our brews here but wouldn't necessarily recommend a dedicated trip from the city unless you are a hazy IPA aficionado.

Great building with huge windows and lots of natural light. Sit outside on the large patio or come inside to hang out and watch the game. Variant is people and pet friendly. They host local food trucks to satisfy your hunger. This is a great local hangout and very welcoming to visitors. I had an awesome time meeting and chatting with some of the local regulars. Parking in this area is a bit challenging. I drove for 15 minutes and found street parking 1/10 mile away. Variant is celebrating 7 years of making great beer. Bring your family, your friends, your dog. You won't be disappointed.

We went to Variant Brewing in downtown Roswell today for the first time, and it is a really nice spot! The taproom has tall ceilings with a lot of natural light, and feels really clean to me. They have a lot of seating inside and outside. They have several tv's that were playing different football games. Their patio is really nice and they have heaters set up for cold days. Variant also has a parking lot on site, which is a huge plus in this area (although it is a small one). Variant's current tap list offers a wide selection for every beer drinker. They have IPAs, stouts, lagers, sours, etc. They offer year-round selections, as well as seasonal and new releases. You can order a taster size, half pour, or full pour. The prices are average, and everything we tried was tasty. They also offer a few sodas in cans and some chips for light snacking. The sodas are a nice touch for non drinkers or kids, and not every brewery offers those! I'd highly recommend visiting Variant, and we will definitely be back more often!

Island Time 8% deliciousness.

There are a lot of breweries out there these days. In fact in the stretch of space where Variant is, there are others, many others in a 10 mile radius. Variant however, is top of the class on the North OTP. Their hazy IPA's rival the best in the state and possibly the south east. Cashmere is their staple but there are even better small batches all the time. Their place isn't large and parking is tricky but easily walkable from anywhere in downtown Roswell. Would love to see them start canning some of this deliciousness.

Variant still gets 5 stars for their beer and service, but just wanted to give a COVID update. Their safety precautions also get 5 stars. COVID update: - Spaced their tables far apart - Used their parking lot for more tables - Waiters come to the table so that people don't have to wait in line inside - Waiters wear masks - Host stand with hand sanitizer, with host showing you to your table We brought our puppy for the first time (it was his first brewery today; definitely a milestone) so pupdate: - All the waiters loved on our dog, so we love them too - They brought out a bowl of water for him I've said it before and I'll say it again--Variant is our favorite brewery in Atlanta (possibly in the world) and every time we go, it confirms it again and again.

Solid suds experience in the thick of the north Atlanta berbs. We visited close to the holidays and although it was packed, the service and atmosphere was chill. Barley any wait even though there wasn't an empty seat and we shared a table with some friendly folks. All the dudes behind the bar were knowledgeable and friendly and appeared to be into the craft suds game. I rate the place and will make it a must stop. They have a diverse and rotating lineup that focuses heavily on IPAs, Goses, and Stouts. The Johnny Cashmere was my favorite. For 3 regular pours and 2 half pours, it was about $31 plus tips. Highly recommend and 5/5 stars. The general manager introduced herself and she was very kind. They brought more tables outside when it started getting busy with customers with dogs. They have bags of popcorn and chips if you need a snack. My only complaint is that there are very few parking spots and no street parking. The beer is well above average. You can't go wrong with any of them. I'm an IPA guy at heart but have ventured off into sours lately. The sours are great. Tuesday's are great here for their trivia. First of all, the trivia was done with a TV so it made it so much easier to follow, first, second and third place teams all win prizes and they allow/encourage you to bring your own food. I believe they may have teamed up with Standard Pizza, right down the street because there was a promo for them if you ordered online. How sweet is that? Big dog friendly patio. Definitely up on my list of go to when visiting downtown Roswell. I tell everyone that they need to come to Variant, great place for birthday parties and friendly get together.

I have been to a lot of breweries all over the country and Variant ranks up there as one of the best that I will try to go back to anytime Im in Atlanta and probably make a special trip for their anniversary party! Anything I have had here has been great. The adjunct stouts, fruited sours, and hazy IPAs have all been delicious so get a few small pours of each! Getting a few small pours is the way to go but if I had to get just one, I would probably go toward the fruited sours if you are just drinking and an ipa if food is involved. Dont forget to get some to go! I always get some to go so I can enjoy the goodness for weeks to come. So you can see that I love the beers but what about the taproom? I really enjoy visiting the taproom for three reasons (other than the beer). 1. There are several good restaurants nearby that deliver. 2. Every staff member has been informative about the beer, generous with small samples, and patient with me as I make my decisions. 3. Inside and outside is comfortable. I have been here on a cold night which kept me inside and I have been here on a sunny spring afternoon where the patio was THE PLACE TO BE. I will DEFINITELY be back!

The beer is top notch. They're proud of it and will tell you about it. Variant is distributed very exclusively, so the best place to get it and buy it in cans, is really at the brewery.

My favorite brewery ever!!! Love this place! Amazing beer staff is always kind! They have super unique beers. I am a big fan of "sours" and they always have a few on their menu! The environment here is super laidback and it's a beautiful brewery. They have food trucks rotating on the weekends so there's always something new to look forward to!

Variety Flight: Dark Alchemy, Raspberry Lemon Gose, Stepping on Legos, and Pineapple Breeze.
Rebecca V.

Friendly servers and great selection of beers with good flavor in them all - if you're not a fan of a specific type of beers, this is the place to branch out and try something new. I guarantee you will like it. I am not big on IPAs but the Stepping On Legos was my favorite. I ended up getting several flights to try everything they had on menu and that was my only repeat and full pour I ordered. My only dig is that the music can be a bit too loud inside and there isn't much seating.

Raspberry Lemon Gose and Pivotal West coast IPA.

This is at least our tenth visit to Variant. Variant has become our favorite local brewery. The beer is truly fantastic and the staff is so friendly and helpful! We highly recommend Variant! Most days they also have a food truck and the choices are definitely great.

Raspberry Gose + Imperial Agua Fresca

Lovely and lively outdoor patio with music -- great to visit after walking around Roswell Mill. Social distancing measures in place, indoor and outdoor seating, and super clean restrooms. I love fruity/sour drinks and this place hits the spot for that! Here are the drinks we got: - Raspberry Lemon Gose: Year-round on tap that's so delicious! The right amount of fruity and sour. - Sop, Drop & Roll: Liked it so much I got a crowler to go. I think what's special about it is the hint of vanilla. It really balances out the acidic nature of the gose and goes down so smoothly. - Imperial Agua Fresca: Really does taste like horchata! Super fun one to give a try if you like cinnamon-y drinks. - Finally for IPAs, our server recommended Snake Money over Parallax, and we really liked it and got a crowler of it as well. - At the time of writing this review, I see they don't currently have Splodey available on the patio, but if they do again, it's another fruity drink with raspberry and guava, and the guava notes are super bright and wonderful. Food situation -- so they don't have food there, just small snacks like bagged pretzels. However, there are a ton of restaurant/gastropub/pizza places around the area, and you are allowed to take that food in there, or even order food delivery to the restaurant. We ended up grabbing a pizza and hard pretzel from nearby restaurants and it made for a perfect experience! One random tip, we went in fall, and parts of their patio get super cold in the shade, so you might want to bring a jacket even if it's very sunny, just depending on where you're sitting. Overall, LOVED this place! Our servers were super attentive and it was always easy to get an order in, even when all the seats on the patio were full. Would totally visit again!

HYDE is one of those places you keep rooting for, even when you're not totally sure why. Brewery…read morevibes, Ceviche running the kitchen, quirky energy, good location. We've been regulars for a long time, usually popping in once a week for tacos and a drink, hoping each visit will be "the one" where everything finally clicks. There was a promising stretch when Ian was managing. Food quality went up, service felt dialed in, and HYDE seemed to be finding its footing. Since he left, the experience has slipped into what I'd describe as "depends on the night and the moon phase." Exhibit A: the margaritas. We've waited close to 40 minutes more than once. Not for a complicated chef's cocktail, or something smoked under a glass dome. Just a standard margarita. At the 25 minute mark, you start speculating about whether someone is hand harvesting sea salt in the parking lot. By minute 35, you're convinced they're distilling the tequila in a basement barrel and blessing the limes under a full moon. When your drink shows up later than your patience, it kills the vibe pretty fast. Food is similar. Some days, the tacos are fresh, bright, well seasoned, and plated like someone cared. Other days, they look like they fell apart on the way over and someone just shrugged and sent them anyway. We've also had incorrect orders enough times that sending plates back is basically a standing tradition at this point. Ingredient changes have shown up recently too, like new fries and chips. As longtime customers, it feels like cost cutting, and that's usually a red flag that business has dipped. Swapping ingredients to save a few dollars rarely turns things around. It's more often the first step toward empty seats. Which is the frustrating part, because HYDE truly has potential. The space is cool. The embedded Ceviche concept is unique. The community honestly wants this restaurant to succeed. But it needs stronger leadership, steadier service, and more consistent execution if it wants people to come back the way they used to. We're still rooting for HYDE. Because when the drinks arrive before you age 10 years and the tacos are right, it can hit just right. Bring back the quality, tighten up the service tempo, and deliver consistently, and HYDE could absolutely be the neighborhood spot everyone wants it to be. Until then, we'll keep crossing our fingers... and maybe pre gaming our margaritas at home.
