Sweet & Sour Pork Chop-
Maggie C.

I loveee this place it's one of my favorite Chinese places to eat. Ordered the braised pork belly, dongpo rou, scallion pancake, tofu, chow mein, and pan fried buns. Every dish was delicious except the pan fried buns? The buns were too soft and didn't have the crispy bottom. Their dim sum dishes could probably use some work because I felt the same about the XLB too. All other dishes are well-executed!

Rice cake with chicken and veggie

Superb food and service, elegant dining room. The dishes are classic Shanghainese: lion's head meatball, rice cake, seaweed fish, tea smoke duck. Favorite was the seaweed fish (5 stars), lightly battered and fried to crispy perfection; make sure you add a sprinkle of pepper salt to kick it up a notch. The other dishes are solid 4 stars. I wish the duck was de-boned, more tender, and easier to make into a sandwich -- it was the most expensive dish ($33) as well as my least favorite. Did I mention the service was superb? Our server was very patient and helpful in explaining the dishes to my friends who knew zilch about Shanghainese food. All in all, we loved our lunch, even the messy-to-make smoked duck sandwich.

Came here on a Friday for lunch and didn't have to wait too long to get seated. Most of the food is Shanghainese style, though I love the variety of the menu. We had the kung pao chicken, Shanghainese style noodles, and the supreme meatball. The noodles and chicken were good, flavorful and with good quantity too. Was not a fan of the supreme meatball however, I don't know if it's star anise or what kind of spice, but it had too sweet of a taste in the sauce and within the meat. I would come again to try the rest of their menu, there are a lot more options than what we were able to try.

Not sure if it's because we came close to Thanksgiving, but unfortunately, there were quite a few mishaps that led me to marking this a 3/5 overall. We got seated relatively fast, but everything beyond that was terribly slow. I think we waited about 1.5 hours until our first food arrived - and then 15-30 min intervals for every dish following that. We tried asking about our food whereabouts, only to be met with a dismissive waitress who basically ignored us. Other tables that arrived and ordered after us somehow got the same dish we ordered before us - we assumed they had forgotten our orders at some point. There was one lovely waitress, so she was kind to get the ball rolling for us more. The food itself was okay. The flavors weren't that strong except for the eggplant dish. Some of the food arrived cold, which I was not very pleased with. The interior is nice and clean. It did feel a bit tight though.

How the mighty has fallen. The best eel dish in SGV became the worst. I used to praise this place for this dish but now they cook it half heartedly and forgot what they should put in it. Where's the hot oil sizzling over the yellow chives? The dish was lukewarm. They had a special lobster deal. Reason why was apparent when you took a bit in it. The meat were soggy and felt like it was frozen so long that the meat became utterly destroyed. No flavor, just mushy crap. So disappointed.

**Yelp Check-In deal NOT HONORED** Not sure how Jiang Nan Spring got the Bib Gourmand in 2021, but I'm not impressed. At a glance from the entrance the interior looks modern and upscale, however when I sat down I immediately noticed the stains on the table cloth. Picture or it didn't happen, so I made sure to capture that. My boyfriend and I came in and they sat us down at a table that was so wide, I felt so far from him. We shared the Filet Mignon w/ Lily Bulb ($22), Walnut Shrimp ($20), and a Saute String Bean w/ Ground Pork ($15) and 2 bowls of White Rice ($2/order). I think it's a bit tacky that the rice isn't included with this style of cuisine. The filet mignon was no doubt the best tasting item. It had good flavor but there were some tough pieces. The saute string beans were decent but super oily. It defeated the purpose of getting a vegetable to be healthy. The walnut shrimp is usually one of my favorite dishes but the one here tasted funky. I felt obligated to eat it cause I picked it. Sigh. I have no plans to come back. This type of cuisine is so common in this area, and nothing stood out other than their stained table clothes.

Seaweed Moss Fish-

Ugh! I didn't want to believe it but all the recent comments are true. The good news is the seaweed salted fish is still good! However I decided to also order combination fried rice and it's the worst fried rice I've ever had. Not kidding. There's barely any...anything in there. Maybe 5 pieces of peas, 5 pieces of carrots, one piece of shrimp, and 2 tiny prices of chicken. My whole meal was $40. Certainly not worth it. The restaurant inflated the prices and deflated the quality. Service was quick and place is still cleaned. But food quality is severely down. Sad they were a michellin star restaurant. Now to me they are a michellin tire restaurant.

Stir fry beef with asparagus

I've had this bookmarked for months and I'm glad I finally got to try it out! Fish filet - 5/5 - the fish was super tender! We finished this one first! Beef w/ asparagus - 5/5 - beef was very soft and asparagus was good but I wish there was more in the dish. String Beans - 4.5/5 - love string beans! Had a lot of garlic Braised Pork - 4/5 - the fat was soft but the meat was a bit tough and the sauce was salty. We didn't have any rice to help combat the sauce. Sweet Rice Soup - 5/5 - my family has never tried this before and was very pleased! it's a good way to end a meal. it's sesame filled rice balls with egg drop in sweet soup! Rose Tea - 5/5 - it comes in a pretty glass teapot where you can see the rose buds floating Our server spoke both in English and Cantonese which was helpful with explaining the dishes! Definitely a good place to come with family so you can try more dishes. Would come back again to try their other dishes! Parking - they have a lot in the back, or street.

I was in town, was craving Chinese food, found this place on yelp. I ordered Orange chicken and beef roll, at the time, I was going to take a picture, but my phone died. I brought the leftover to home- the picture. The food was good and satisfying. Orange chicken tasted good, beef roll was on the dry side, but the portion was good. The restaurant is clean and nice. The service was just okay, I had to call servers to get their attention. I would try their other dishes next time.

Nelson H.

I would add this restaurant to your list of delicious Chinese restaurants. We had an early dinner and sat quickly. The server was super sweet and gave us some suggestions. I'm a green onion pancake connoisseur and I highly enjoyed their version. We ordered the crab but I think it was too small so the meat was dry. I would have skipped that dish. Everything else we ordered was as expected - great flavor and tasty.

Caili C.

Fantastic Shanghainese food that got a Bib Gourmand in 2021. We came back for dinner and were excited to get Shanghainese food in SGV. It was just the 2 of us so we were hesitant to order too much food much ending up getting the dungeness crab with rice cake, seaweed fried fish, loofa with dried shrimp, and pork and bamboo soup. First, the portions were huge! Definitely made for 4+ people, every dish was bigger than we expected and we had plenty to take home. Every dish was yummy and I loved how flavorful everything was. The crab was really fresh and I loved the sauce with the rice cake, making it a full meal in of itself. The loofa had a ton of flavor from the small dried shrimp and the seaweed fish was great as well dipped in white pepper for more flavor.

Ren N.

I would say this place is my 2nd Michelin star Chinese restaurant I've experienced thus far, and really enjoyed. Their dishes range from poultry to vegetarian as well as fish. Delicious and not overly salty. Great service! Modern lighting and tables. The second time I'm here, this business offered Yelpers a one time 25% off coupon. When I showed this to them the servers didn't recognize it. They tried contacting the owner but we couldn't wait long enough for him/her to respond. Pretty disappointed they didn't honor the coupon. Yelp coupons are just temporary promotions from the business itself. Perhaps someone can verify?

Sharlena T.

this place had great authentic food! 5/5- the biggest fave in the table was surprisingly actually the scallion pancakes they were fried and had such a nice chewy texture that had a lot of flavor and paired so well with dishes. whereas most places its more doughy and bland the bean curd, rice cake in the crab dish, and pork belly were the highlights all the other dishes were good too but you could skip if needed. particularly felt the shanghai noodles weren't as good as the other dishes or other shanghai noodles ive had at other places. but still good overall overall a great place to have a large family get together

Is the 25% off all order Yelp check in offer still valid? I plan to have a dinner date this Thursday and want to double check on this. Thanks. 6/17/2024

It's no longer valid. As of 6/22/24

Is there private room there?

Yes they have one private room. You have to call in advance to reserve it

Is there a private room we can reserve?

Yes they have 1 private room you can reserve

Hi, Do you guys still serve " Buddha jumps over the wall" soup? If so , how early in advance do we…

Yes, we do still make it. We just require it to be ordered a week in advance. If it is for take out, you will need to bring a very large pot to place the order. Thank you

Are there any items made without garlic or onion?

im sure you can request to have them omitted from many items if you check with the server. don't know if the chefs will be happy about it though.

How can I order clay chicken and how much? Is it better to make reservation before coming? Is there any special fee for making reservation?

We recommend making a reservation directly by calling the restaurant at 626-766-1688 when you want to order clay chicken. There is no additional cost when making a reservation. Additionally, the clay chicken needs to be ordered 2 days in advance.

Is it better to make reservation before coming?

Wut kindsa beers do they serve?

Amber, Kirin, and Budweiser

Do they have dine in now?

Yes

Why don't you answer phone!!!! All fast. All night today?

they are on limited staff- so serving customers and cooking- GO- great place!!!

Do they have frozen dumpling for sale?

I don't think so, but their neighbors do.

Has anybody tried the Beggar's Chicken? What's that like?

The Beggar's Chicken is like a Thanksgiving Turkey and like most turkeys it's a tricky process to do it right. I've had it once here and while the flavor was great, the meat was a little too dry for my taste. I've heard from others that sometimes…

They have a waitlist available on Yelp, but I guess it wasn't necessary since there was no wait when I arrived. Super spacious inside, more spacious than the Diamond Bar location. The food was served fairly quickly. Beef roll was good, lots of beef, but I wish the actual roll itself had some crispiness to it. It was pretty soft. Braised beef and tendon noodle soup was spicy!! I didn't order it as spicy and the menu also did not indicate it was a spice dish, so not sure why it was spicy. The soup still tasted very good though and the beef and tendons were very soft and juicy. It could use a bit more veggies. Fortunately, the extra beef and tendons I got on the side were not spicy. Xiao long baos were good. Classic go-to dim sum dish every time. The skin isn't too thick. Great flavor with some vinegar and soy sauce. Hot Oil Shrimp Pork with Chinese Cabbage Wonton was ever spicier but this was expected. However, there was a weird taste like it's not very fresh or there was some tap water taste to it. I could hardly eat even one of them with the weird taste so strong. Overall very disappointed and not likely to come back to this location. The parking is pretty small and packed as it is shared with other businesses in the area. The back had more parking spaces fortunately.

The beef wrap is a must, along with the fried salted pork chops, fried pork buns, and tai fung. Honestly, this is the kind of place where sharing is necessary because ordering just one dish feels like a missed opportunity. The food definitely delivers, but the service could use some seasoning. It was curt and surprisingly inefficient for such a busy neighborhood restaurant. You'd think they'd have the rhythm down by now. Still, the food makes a strong case for coming back, preferably with a group of hungry friends who don't mind a little chaos. The kitchen understood the assignment. I read several negative reviews about rudeness of the servers and some issues with the food, but I must say that was not my experience on this date . The servers greeted us with smiles and were very attentive. The salty pork shops were very tasty and authentic. Although the sweet and sour chicken did not come with the usual pineapple, onions and bell peppers, it was perfectly tossed in a delicious sweet and sour glazed sauce (must have been the Tawanese twist). The green beans with garlic sauce were amazing and the chicken noodles were outstanding. The prices were reasonable and the portions were above average. Definitely coming back. Note: Bathrooms are not kept very clean and are outside the restaurant, likely because they are shared with several other businesses in the shopping center. This seems to be more of a building management issue.

When I called to make a reservation, the staff explained that the goose dish requires a pre-order and isn't cheap. In fact, the price for half a goose is comparable to ordering a bone-in ribeye steak at a high end steakhouse. However, we are glad we went for it. The goose arrived as a cold cut plate, paired with a special dipping sauce that perfectly balanced the rich, fatty, and flavorful meat. It was my first time having Taiwanese style goose in the US, and it is absolutely worth trying if you have never had it before. The dish also came with a rice noodle soup made with goose oil, which was an excellent bonus. We didn't stop there. From the special lunch menu, we tried the pan fried egg, satay water spinach and lamb, house special braised pork rice, and fried cabbage with egg puff. From the regular menu, we ordered sticky tofu with pork blood cake, steamed cod fish, and sticky rice. The sticky rice was dry and not very flavorful, but everything else hit the spot, especially the mixed pork rice, which was outstanding and highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Taiwanese comfort food. On later visits, we went back for classics like three cup chicken, fried stinky tofu, jalapeño pork, and the Taiwanese cabbage pot.
